This might be a reach but I like to think Ienzo’s hair part as a child being perfectly straight compared to his scruffier one in adulthood makes me think it’s because Even combed it or something.

Headcanoning that Luxu Braig was actually really close with Ienzo because he reminds Luxu of Ira with his intellect and sometimes sarcastic tone. Braig would often tell stories to Ienzo that he played off as being made up, but were tales from old lives he lived 100+ years ago.

The closeness went both ways so at the end of KH3 when everyone else was back except Braig, Ienzo didn’t understand and the others tried to tell him Xigbar was gone gone. Ienzo is mad when he starts to think he’s the only one upset about Braig’s loss. The adults felt betrayed by Braig a long time ago since he’s the one who led their betrayal against Ansem (Terranort also encouraged them, but Braig did it more since he had more sway with them). Ienzo didn’t know that and still doesn’t get why that means they aren’t upset he’s gone.

I’m wired from a Monster so you get my rambles

I love how I went from being fairly neutral on Xehabraig for a long time to them becoming my favorite Kingdom Hearts ship. I kind of always knew Xehabraig was a thing or at least XigXem. I never gave much thought to XigXem as a ship because I say Xemnas get shipped with everyone (except Roxas and Xion for glaringly obvious reasons and my optimistic self prays no one does ship them). Just another ship for Xemnas and sure the fanart was cute but I didn’t see much substance to it.

OH BOY WAS I WRONG

Because then I saw Xehabraig fanart and yet again at first I was like oh this is actually really cute, but I don’t get it. I wasn’t thinking about the implications. Xehabraig has so many implications to any type of relationship they’d be in after Xigbar/Braig was revealed to be Luxu. Both of them are so similar and yet so different.

Luxu is a man who has lived so many lives. He’s gone from body to body, and while we only know for three I imagine there were a lot more due to the end of Union X and the beginning of Dark Road presumably being several centuries apart. He’s loved so many different lives. Absolutely no way this guy doesn’t have identity issues.

Terranort on the other hand has lived no lives. Terranort is such a different person from either Xehanort or Terra which makes sense considering he doesn’t have memories from either of them. Imagine him getting memories back but they’re all so jumbled because some of them are Terra’s while other’s are Xehanort’s all the while he’s making new memories in Radiant Garden as himself. This man also has got to have identity issues.

But despite them both having struggles with who they are as people, they can’t actually bond over it because Braig can’t say anything about his identity issues. Imagine Braig helping Terranort try to sort everything out and Terranort trying to explain how he feels. Braig knows exactly what it feels like to not really know who you are, but he can’t say that because that will raise questions and Braig can’t have that. Braig has to sit there and want so desperately to help, but the best way to do that will get him exposed and by the light he’s kept up appearances for this fucking long he isn’t going to stop now when he’s this close.

There’s so much potential between these two characters and I’m obsessed with it. There’s so little canon for these two and we only get hints at what their dynamic is, but I almost prefer that. Kingdom Hearts is a media in which I actually don’t want more content of certain pairings. There’s a few scenes I’d wish they’d go into with other characters, but I love Kingdom Hearts for giving us just enough insight to characters that we can then go and create whole scenarios for them.

Xehabraig is also a ship I’d love to also see just platonicness of. I see them as romantic, but it’s a dynamic that I think works no matter what the relationship is to someone whether that be platonic, brotherly, queer platonic, etc. Just the fact they can relate to each other, but only one is able to say anything. Agh. I love them.
