The Battle of Copenhagen of 1801 (Danish: Slaget på Reden), also known as the First Battle of Copenhagen to distinguish it from the Second Battle of Copenhagen in 1807, was a naval battle in which a British fleet fought and defeated a smaller force of the Dano-Norwegian Navy anchored near Copenhagen on April 2, 1801.

The Best News of Last Week - September 11, 2023
Sorry for not sending last week's issue as I got covid again :/ I passed it, so here's the best things that happened last week :)
1. The IRS plans to crack down on 1,600 millionaires to collect millions of dollars in back taxes
The IRS announced on Friday it is launching an effort to aggressively pursue 1,600 millionaires and 75 large business partnerships that owe hundreds of millions of dollars in past due taxes. The newly announced tax collection effort will begin as soon as October. “We have more hiring to do,” Werfel said. “It’s going to be a very busy fall for us.”
2. The NGO African Parks announced it would purchase the world’s largest population of privately owned white rhinos
Africa’s beleaguered rhinos have been thrown a significant lifeline with the announcement that nearly 2,000 semi-wild rhinos owned by South African rhino breeder John Hume will be “rewilded” into reserves across South Africa and other parts of the continent over the next 10 years.
3. Mexico supreme court decriminalizes abortion across country
Mexico’s supreme court has unanimously ruled that state laws prohibiting abortion are unconstitutional and violate women’s rights, in the latest in a series of victories for reproductive rights activists across Latin America.
Wednesday’s ruling came two years after the court ordered the northern state of Coahuila to remove sanctions for abortion from its criminal code, a decision which prompted a tortuous state-by-state process of legal battles. So far 12 of Mexico’s 31 states have decriminalized the procedure.
4. The first human organ created inside an animal opens the door to manufacturing ‘spare parts’ for people
It is a historic image. A team of researchers in China has successfully generated a blueprint of a human organ in another animal for the first time. The experiment, conducted with humanized kidneys in pig embryos, represents a step toward the still-distant dream of using other mammals as source of organs for transplants.
5. Study Shows a Single Dose of Psilocybin's Astonishing Impact on Depression and Could Change Medical Treatments of Mental Health Forever
Psychedelics are making a comeback, and this time, they're dressed in the respectable garb of clinical research. Recent studies have reignited interest in these substances, particularly psilocybin, the active compound in magic mushrooms, as a potent treatment for major depressive disorder (MDD).
6. Missing cat reunited with owner after it disappeared during Alaska flooding
Twenty-six days after he went missing, an adorable black and white cat named Leo has been reunited with his family. Brave Leo went missing after historic glacial flooding swept away his home and all his owner's belongings.
7. Dogs perform Mozart with orchestra in Denmark
youtube
A classical music festival in Copenhagen, Denmark, has opened with some canine additions to the orchestra.

NikPrice, who fell first and who fell harder? How do you imagine they got together.. Who swallowed their courage and took the first step.. How'd the confession go... Did they get together when they were young or was it full on yearning till they were older? Ahhh! So many ways to go at it. I like how they're flexible. Curious about your version of them. (or have you already written about it and I missed it? I'm sorry..) Young sweethearts is cute...but i do love old men yearning...hehehe
Ahh, so I've imagined it a hundred different ways. I've chosen a particular angle for Skin and Bones because it's not only a "getting together" fic but also a "John Price does some healing" fic.
They first met when John was a lieutenant. He was the one that "brought Nik in" when Nik was stationed at the London embassy. Spies had been unsuccessful in Copenhagen because he had a deep distrust of them (linked to his experience of his father and the KGB), so he says he will talk to someone like him. A soldier.
I think Nik falls in love quickly, but he's happy to like... marinate in it because he also has a lot of healing to do in the beginning (and empire building). I headcanon him as a gay man pretty consistently, and I think he's used to pining after men he can't have. He's done it for years. It's like one of the many romances he read as a boy, he figures.
Through the years, Nik shows his affection in small ways, like he's the one who yanks that filthy roll up out of Price's mouth and replaces it with a cigar, and always ensures Price has what he needs when he's called upon. Nik's there when Price gets his captaincy, they get drunk and... Ahh, they might have kissed. Price runs the fuck away like a coward.
Price is in denial. He apologises in the morning and Nik can see the terror in his eyes of what he'd just done, so, even though his heart is aching, Nik tells Price not to worry about it. The captain isn't ready to heal that part of himself yet.
More time passes, and John realises he's very much in love with Nik. It hits him like a freight train one night when Nik's joking around in the bar with the rest of 141. Just how he feels watching them, watching Nik.
So what does John do? He destroys it, of course. Because the only thing more destructive than John Price's anger is John Price's fear. There's like... More after, but I should probably finish the damn thing for you.
Happy ending, kissing, tender sex, Oop, some therapy.
Nik waits a long time for the man he loves to realise they're in love, while battling his own demons. That's the angle I'm going for in that fic, anyways. Because I love healing heartbreak.

It's all in the side notes
I can’t believe why is not painfully obvious for everybody else too, it's like everyone notices everything around it except this huge elephant in the Sydcarmy room.
Let me explain:
The side notes on the script are what the actors play, not just the script itself. The subtexts, the nuances, the silences, all of that is indicated by the director and rehearsed over and over before shooting at least 2 takes of every single scene.
02X01 was about teamwork towards The Bear's opening, that's why the director opened and closed the ep with that, to make that point. The side notes were all about playing every single scene with a SOU, fast-paced dialogues, etc, because every second counts and that's why a clock was ticking on pretty much every scene.
When 02x02 ends with a close-up of Claire smiling after Carmy gives her the wrong number, that´s not the point the director tried to make, but that Carmy TOOK HIS FUCKING TIME in giving her the wrong number, he almost gave it to her in slow motion, meaning that as he was giving it to her he was deciding what he eventually ended up doing with the last digit. He was on the fence the whole time and ended up deciding to "cut her off politely" in a very Carmy way. That was a side note in the script (the speech rate and the "decide as you go", and "be doubtful first" part).
In 02x03, the Sydcarmy vs Clairmy battle really began and it continued throughout the whole S2, all side notes because the script was barely obvious about Claire until he said: "I have to call my GF" after passing the gas inspection. Notice a pattern here? Or is it just me?
02X04 was mostly focused on Marcus in Copenhagen and introduced us to Chef Luca, raising the question, on purpose leaving it as an unanswered question - that will probably be answered in S3- on whether Luca was talking about Carmy when he was talking about a chef that was way better than him and that inspired him to become the chef he is today and up his game as much as he could. In other words: Not Sydcarmy material. Except we buy into the whole SydMarcus shipping they tried to insinuate with the Facetime call, which I won't get into because I feel dirty even typing about it. How dare they? Is it because they are both black? WTF?!! Well, my point is this is probably the least Sydcarmy episode of the season and we need to make a mental note about who directed it.
02x05 This episode's arc is all about the script's side notes: "Who's Claire? / I'm saying goodnight!" is all about the intonation, not the actual words. This is the bridge of the whole Sydcarmy song, that's why it's mid-season. Notice something? I have...
02x06 The masterpiece, it's all about the side notes but again, super non Sydcarmy, it's just supposed to show us The Berzatto's background story so Syd is not part of the equation. Claire is, in a way that will later make a lot more sense during Omelette's panic attack, of course.
02x07 AKA: My favest, is also a non-Sydcarmy kinda ep. Is all about Cousin's arc. BTW: I 100% ship these 2 and I hope S3 brings more RichJess fluff and stuff:
02X08 is all about the side notes again and takes us right back into SydCarmy vs Clairmy territory. Carmy had to call his new GF after passing the inspection to give her the good news.
02x09 I shouldn't even have to say a damn thing about this ep. Other than pointing out the obvious: IT'S THE MOST SYDCARMY EP OF THE WHOLE FUCKING SEASON, TYVM!
All I'm gonna add is that Carmy is laying awake after having sex with her:
I already talked about the common blue light in this scene here.
I'm not even gonna get into his panic attack. I mean... Do I have to? Seriously?
Anyway...
Storer finally joined the ship Calo was sailing since the beginning of the season here and all the side notes in this script are HIS.
The cinematography is his, the music is his, and every line, because he co-wrote it with Sydcarmy CEO: Joanna Calo herself.
And so we arrive to 02X10 where Sydcarmy is eaten alive by The Bear but ironically enough the one who doesn't survive is the Clairmy team LMAO! Sydcarmy on the other hand keeps going strong (Ayo was promoted to co-star for a reason, she's no longer part of the cast, she's the female lead of the show now) and in S3 we'll get to see how exactly will that play out.
My point is: The director and then the editors in the ER with the EP's sign-off can change what the writers write if they choose to and the actors have to perform the side notes according to the director's instructions.
In this case, since Storer joined the Calo Sydcarmy ship as I previously mentioned and usually they co-write and always co-produce the seasons those scripts, side notes, musicalizations and editions ARE ALL THEIRS. Every time Calo touches something, she turns it into Sydcarmy gold, and Storer and her are on the same page. That's why most Sydcarmy eps of the season were hers or his or directed by both.
June can't get here soon enough.

Naval Surgeon's medicine chest, belonging to surgeon Sir Benjamin F. Outram (1774-1856) and reputedly used at the battle of Copenhagen 1801
Outram was first employed in the naval medical service in 1794, and was promoted to the rank of surgeon in 1796. He served in HMS Harpy, HMS La Nymphe, and HMS Boadicea. He was surgeon in HMS Superb in the second battle of Algeciras, where Sir James Saumarez obtained a victory over the French and Spanish fleets on 12 July 1801. He received war medals and clasps for his services under Sir Richard Goodwin Keats. Then for a period he was surgeon to the royal yacht, HMS Royal Sovereign.
In 1806, with a view to private practice, Outram went to Edinburgh, and there graduated doctor of medicine on 24 June 1809. He was admitted a licentiate of the Royal College of Physicians of London on 16 April 1810, and then began as a physician at Hanover Square in London, where he lived more than 40 years. He acted as physician to the Welbeck Street Dispensary. On 3 May 1838 he was elected a fellow of the Royal Society; he also became an early member of the Royal Geographical Society.
In 1841 Outram became medical inspector of her Majesty's fleets and hospitals. He was appointed Knight Commander of the Order of the Bath (KCB) on 17 September 1850, and was admitted a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians on 9 July 1852. He died at Brighton on 16 February 1856, and was buried at Clifton, Bristol.

JAPAN TRIP - DAY 1
My trip got off to a terrible start as I woke up feeling extremely unwell. I'm battling with fluctuating fever, which is making things quite challenging. Currently, I'm feeling somewhat improved, but not completely recovered 😕 With approximately 8 hours left on the flight, I hope that getting some sleep will help me feel better, ah.
The first picture on the left captures the beginning of my journey, the first flight from Copenhagen to Helsinki. As I boarded the plane, excitement and anticipation filled the air. The window seat (which I hate!) allowed me to gaze out at the vast expanse of clouds, marveling at the beauty of the sky. The second picture, the one on the right depicts the second leg of my adventure, the flight from Helsinki to Narita Airport in Tokyo (the flight is still in progress)

With a historic mandate secured, here’s some bold ideas for the incoming president’s tenure:
Make American defense great again
The military and the Department of Defense have many issues. Here are a few big ones:
The bidding process is uncompetitive.Defense industry behemoths, such as Raytheon, Boeing, etc aren’t innovating as much as they should be, and there is no room for smaller players to enter into the industry without first having pledged fealty to the defense contractor industrial complex. To resolve this, Trump II should consider opening up the Pentagon-contractor relationship to many more patriotic endeavors.
The DOD is attached to old ideas and outdated platforms. For example, the Pentagon’s insistence that America retains manned fighter jet platforms well into the future. That will leave the United States at a competitive disadvantage when squaring off against Chinese platforms. Instead of investing in expiring ideas, they should instead deploy those resources into UAV, jamming, and counter-jamming technologies.
Thanks to the efforts of Democrat administrations, so much of the military has been allocated to appealing to hyper wokeness. The military shouldn’t be understood as a social welfare program. It should be purposed to defend the country and achieve victory in battle. All of the trans/DEI/ESG stuff is harming military readiness, and it’s sabotaging recruiting. It all needs to go, as soon as humanly possible.
Annex Greenland
Yes, the Trump Administration should absolutely try to find a way to annex Greenland, an autonomous territory of Denmark.
Greenland is insanely resource-rich and its geopolitical position is incredibly significant to American interests.
Denmark is hyper-liberal and wants to preserve Greenland, cutting the territory off from most human contact (other than the 50,000 or so people who live there) because they have bought into all of the climate narrative hysteria, so they’re just letting perfectly good (but very cold) land waste away.
The Trump Administration should reach out to Copenhagen and start the process of negotiations over the future of Greenland. They can start by leveraging Denmark’s failure to live up to the two-percent defense spending threshold as a NATO member.

On April 14th 1578 James Hepburn, 4th Earl of Bothwell , Earl of Orkney and third husband of Mary Queen of Scots died, aged 44, tied to a post in a dungeon at, Denmark.
As I posted on Friday Bothwell fled Scotland after the surrender at Carberry Hill, Queen Mary’s last act of love for him was guaranteeing he could leave the area unharmed.
Bothwell took ship from Aberdeen to Shetland, he may have stopped off in Orkney, the only thing we know is he was denied refuge there and travelled on to Shetland.
He was pursued by Sir William Kirkcaldy of Grange and William Murray of Tullibardine who it seems were not that far behind him. They sailed into Bressay Sound near Lerwick. Four of Bothwell’s ships in the Sound set sail north to Unst where Hepburn and his cousin, the pirate, Olaf Sinclair were negotiating with German captains to hire more ships. Kirkcaldy’s flagship The Lion, chased one of Bothwell’s ships, and both ships were damaged on a submerged rock.
Bothwell sent his treasure ship to Scalloway and fought a three-hour-long sea battle off the Port of Unst where the mast of one of his ships was shot away. During the chase a storm erupted and Bothwell’s superior seamanship to come to his rescue. After transferring his men to his two remaining ships, he sailed south-east before the wind, making the 250-mile crossing in record time Although Kirkcaldy followed for sixty miles, he was out-sailed and, by his own admission, was ‘no good seaman’.
He might have thought he was off the hook again, but no, Frederick II was not sympathetic to his cause, he was at war, and was torn between his blood ties to Mary Queen of Scots and the need to show loyalty to his Protestant allies. Fortunately for him, the problem solved itself when Mary, held prisoner in England, dissolved her marriage to Bothwell, making him merely a problem to be got rid of from Frederik’s perspective, so he ordered his arrest to be used as a bargaining chip in the forlorn hope that he would be traded in return for the return of the Northern Isle!
After being brought before the Bergen magistrates, in September he was carried to Copenhagen on one of Frederick’s ships for ‘honourable confinement’ at Dragshorn Castle, the Scandinavian equivalent of the Tower Of London. I found an extract from My Heart is My Own, a biography on Mary Queen of Scots that reads
“On 14th April 1578, Bothwell died at Dragsholm. As was customary for state prisoners, his body was carried to the promontory that juts into the fjord a side of things. mile or so from the castle and buried at the parish church of Fårevejle. (…) “
There are differing versions on how he lived out his last days, one says he was actually not held in ‘honourable confinement’, but in a small dungeon chained to a post, the cell so small he was unable to stand, the second is more in the line of the ‘honourable confinement’ that he spent the last years drinking to excess with others held at the castle and gradually became more and more insane.
John Maxwell, visited Dragshorn Castle, and reported that Hepburn had latterly become overgrown with hair and filth. I take it from this he was still alive at the time!
The story doesn’t quite end there, Bothwell’s coffin was opened for the first time in 1868 and a very well-preserved body was found, which subsequently rapidly decayed and, for a period of time, until 1973, was open to public viewing under a glass lid. Then, in response to a request from the descendants of the Hepburn family, the newly-crowned Margrethe II had Bothwell buried in a zinc-lined coffin within a sarcophagus of oak, and here he remains.
Every now and then there is a story in the press about his descendents making an attempt for his body to be repatriated, I have no idea why the Danes would not allow this and for the moment he remains there. Of course with a story like this the castle is said to be haunted by the "good” Earl, where is he said to ride through the courtyard with a full horse and carriage.
The pictures are, the supposed head of Bothwell “ Study of Mummified Head” by Danish artist Otto Bache. The even more gruesome “body of James Hepburn” although the church where his supposed remains lie was known to have exhibited several bodies over the years as his, therefore, it is impossible to know if this is actually him.
There have been moves by his descendants to have his body repatriated through the years Speaking in 2010 Sir Alastair Buchan-Hepburn, Bothwell's direct descendant sought to raise funds to lobby the Scottish and Danish governments, saying "I want the Scottish culture minister to get in touch with his Danish counterpart to ask him 'would you please consider to return the body of James Hepburn, the Earl of Bothwell?'"
James Hepburn, 4th Earl of Bothwells’ remains are now kept in the crypt at the church at Faravejle, near Dragsholm Castle, as seen in the last pic.

Donnie likes Magic... at least in the beginning. (First episode Donnie notes)
(All my Donnie-magic-arc notes from my rottmnt show notes. LOOK I HAVE EVIDENCE :3. This is mainly for future reference.)
Okie, Donnie's first words in the show are him using his science to support his brothers and be overdramatic.
Donnie has tech in his shell for when April needs a ride, meaning that, again, he is constantly making tech to help others, along with his own interests.
(Also the way he flies? So overdramatic princess-y. I love him. And I can't take screenshots for some reason. Sadness. )
They do have rehearsals for 'if they come in contact with humans'. So.... do they worry about that? Also, Donnie never goes to them. I can relate. Things I find unnecessary that I take away from my 'writing time' are things I try to avoid at all costs.
Donnie screaming 'Fibonacci' or just being happy and showing off his tech makes me so sparkly inside.
(I'm not even five minutes into the first episode.... this might take awhile)
Donnie's tech does not work, he tries but it does not work a ton. Which I love. Our favorite/ special things not working, or just not being that great is something I relate to a lot/ want to see more in media. It's the thing we base our lives on. It HAS to be good. Otherwise, what's the point of our existence?
Yes... I kin Donnie.
All of Donnie's lines are immediately iconic in my brain
Donnie again tries to make things better with his tech abilities
When Donnie 'insults' his brothers. ('You guys are fools') He'll say something positive about it later. ("You beautiful fools') he's basically doing /pos all the time.
Donnie, upon finding the hidden city, says "Exactly what I expected." (At 11:37) Meaning that he is a cryptid theorist confirmed. He has theorized about the existence of mystic beings since before they found the hidden city.
(I will do another "Why Donnie dislikes mystic powers" later, because this gives me the notion that Donnie dislikes mystic powers the same way some physicists dislike quantum mechanics or the Copenhagen interpretation of it. It doesn't make sense. It contradicts and he can't figure it out, that wouldn't be an issue if it weren't for his brothers immediately getting it. In the AU, I would have an 'episode' where their mystic powers start making Donnie inconsequential. They already don't listen to him most of the time. And now his tech doesn't help anymore....
anywho that's for later, back to episode one!)
According to Donnie's calculations, they are in a 'Tertiary metaverse'.
A google search revealed nothing on that. But ..... DONNIE HAS CALCULATIONS FOR THESE SORTS OF THINGS, AAA-
Donnie loves Draxum's lab. Specifically, the color scheme and the style. These two would get along so well.
Donnie has high grade titanium, how did he get high grade titanium?
(my headcannon is that he goes on 'shopping trips' with his siblings, mainly April, sometimes Mikey. And he steals things.)
DONNIE IS NOT AGAINST MAGIC IN THE FIRST EPISODE WAT.
He seems awed. At 14:41 he says "it's like mystic and science had a baby"
OKIE OKIE, here's my headcannon.
Originally Donnie was a science person (obviously) but he was like - "well there's no definite evidence that cryptids and magic AREN'T possible. I mean... black holes and quantum mechanics make no sense. Science does wild things sometimes, why can't these things exist? And you know what? I'm going to prove it!"
But then he actually SAW mystic powers and everyone else doing really well with it. Replacing him. And while his prior experiments with the crystal have led to good results in tandem with his goggles, but when he tries afterwards, it doesn't work. (Because mystic powers are based on emotions and he's frustrated.) That's weird. Science should lead to definite, predictable results.
So *character arc*
His tech is constantly on the fritz in this episode. Mainly his tech bo. Maybe that's a newer piece? His battle shell seems to work fine. I think that may be one of his first pieces of tech, and the flying part looks like what would become Shelldon in the future.
AND, I think he gets better at making his tech in the future, while still making mistakes :D
Plus, his tech being on the fritz, makes his whole "they care more about what I can do for them than me"/needing to be useful, and fix things, mean that much more.
Also also, I'm basing above off of the fact that the siblings like his tech, but don't trust it, and they often don't exactly listen to him that often ('DONNIE NOT HELPING!') Which I feel like would hurt after some time. Also this post.
Donnie goes to his phone after his achievement of his tech bo working, he's probably documenting his success + photo archives + data points.
Mikey gets bored of the Villain banter really fast. Donnie wants his own world to keep working as it does and just coast along with his family while still 'spending time with them' (I can HEAVILY relate... or maybe I'm just projecting, but wanting to be in your own world while being around others is literally my whole life in a nutshell.)
Mikey's mystic weapon is a cackling fireball gremlin that is absolutely uncontrollable. Everyone (including Donnie) thinks it's REALLY COOL
#rottmnt#rise donnie#rise donatello#look at this big anaylsis#I'm proud of myself#Eventually I hope to have a really in depth commentary and a bunch of fan theories.

Do you have a favourite ship? The floating sort, not the romantic one.
By God, there is such a thing as "A Romantic Ship" nowadays? I should inform Captain Hardy, he might appreciate such news and even I find the concept truly intriguing. I only wonder what utility might such a vessel possess in the heat of battle?
My favourite ship was and will be HMS Agamemnon, a Third Rate, where I held command for three years during my operations in the Mediterranean Sea. There, I earned my first Flag Officer rank promotion and she followed me to Copenhagen and Trafalgar too.
I heard she wrecked four years after I did, which is unfortunate.

“When you travel around the world, you are often reminded of how lovely Denmark really is” Part 1
Pernille Harder grew up in central Jutland humility. The popular national team player loves the Danes' lack of self-importance. And then she pays tribute to Lise Nørgaard's fight to set women free and pave the way towards equality. But we are not at the goal yet, says Denmark's most expensive female soccer player.
Which place in Denmark do you like the most?
"It's my childhood town, Ikast. I moved away from Denmark early to become a professional soccer player in Sweden, and ever since I have played in foreign clubs, so I have never tried living in other Danish cities. My parents and my older sister still live in Ikast, and therefore I also associate the city with security. We are a fairly close family who have always spent a lot of time together. It has made me a good team player. My mother was my coach when I was smaller, and although I was better than many of my teammates, I didn't get more playing time than others. There had to be room for everyone, no matter how good or bad you were. If I scored and was the least bit cocky, I was always put in my place. Then I was told that it was also the team's merit that I scored. After all, they had done all the processing. I was also brought up to keep both feet on the ground, even if you succeed. That you don't put yourself on a throne and think that you are more important than others just because you are more skilled. You are not. When I come home to Ikast today, I am also just Pernille. Both out in the city and at home with my family. It is very Danish. And very healthy.”
What is the best thing about Denmark?
"When you travel around the world, you are often reminded of how lovely Denmark really is. I think we are good at not taking things so seriously at home. We are also not as formal and solemn as people are in many other places. We are very little self-congratulatory, and we have no problem making fun of ourselves and each other. That way we are very down to earth. I really like that. At the same time, we are good at giving space to being different, and we were the first country in the world to allow homosexuals to marry. Of course, there is still a difference between being gay in Copenhagen and in a small provincial town. When you live in a big city, you experience quite naturally that life can be lived in many different ways, and therefore one's view often expands. That was probably also the reason why I didn't feel completely comfortable coming out as a lesbian at home in Ikast when I was a teenager, but only did it when I moved to Sweden and had gotten a little older. Today, I only meet support when I walk on the street in Ikast, and I hope that my openness helps to make it easier for others to stand by their sexuality.''
What's the worst?
"The climate. When playing football, it is more fun to do it in good weather. I love sun and heat as much as I hate rain, wind and cold. I could really do without the Danish winter. Today I live in London, and here the weather is nothing to shout about either. Fortunately, I am young enough to have escaped playing on the wet clay courts that my parents played on when they were young. I grew up with artificial grass and synthetic pitches, and after all, it makes autumn and winter a little more bearable.''
What is the strongest memory from childhood?
"I spent most of my childhood playing football. Not just in the local club. I often continued to play with the other children in the neighborhood when I got home from training. We ran around the country roads and broke our knees or fought close battles around the gardens. One evening we had hoisted a lamp up a flagpole so that we could continue playing even though it had become dark. Time flew by and we forgot all about mealtimes and when to go to bed. I always wanted to be the best and early on dreamed of making the national team. But every time I watched the television at home in the living room, there were only boys and men kicking the ball.

"When you travel around the world, you are often reminded of how lovely Denmark really is"
I haven't checked for translation errors
Some of the parts I find the best, have I marked with bold
Pernille Harder grew up in central Jutland with humility.
At one point I demanded to have my hair cut short so I could look like the players on the screen. It continued like this for a few years, until one day my older sister told me that there was also a national team for women. Then I let my hair grow back.'
If you were to move to another place in Denmark, where would it be? "When my sports career ends and I have to return to Denmark, I would like to live in Aarhus or Copenhagen. Once you've tried living in a big city, it's hard to miss the cafés, restaurants, concert venues and the long opening hours.'
Where do you eat the best meal? "At my parents'. For many years, my grandmother made the best fried pork with parsley sauce you could find in Ikast and the surrounding area, but when she died a few years ago, my mother took over the role of my favorite cook. Her version of fried pork with parsley sauce is not as good as my grandmother's, but it comes close. Maybe it's really about the fact that I have so many good childhood memories with my grandparents that the memories make the food taste better.
After all, you also eat with your heart. I think my nephews will feel the same way about my mother's roast pork with parsley sauce. She is their grandmother, after all.'
Which Dane do you respect? » Lise Nørgaard. It's crazy to think that she fought the women's fight already in the 1930s. After all, it was a completely different society back then, and it must have taken a lot of courage to stand up and speak her mind the way she did. Few did. Back then, women were supposed to keep quiet and behave nicely, but Lise Nørgaard decided early on that she didn't want to be a stay-at-home housewife, and instead chose to enter the labor market together with the men. I can sometimes be surprised that equality.
I grew up with a mother who always had her own opinion, and my father did not sit at the end of the table and decide everything. He also went to the kitchen and cooked. Maybe not quite as often as my mother, but then he did the dishes. Therefore, it is also completely natural for me to take part in the fight for equality.
Sometimes people ask why I bother to come forward, but I'm so screwed up that if there's something I want to change, I'll do it myself. If nobody does anything, nothing happens either.''
What do you miss when you are abroad? "Rye bread. My partner is from Sweden, and she cannot understand that you can be full from a few slices of rye bread in the middle of the day. She wants hot food for lunch. But I love a rye bread meal with a good curry herring or a fish fillet with remoulade.'
'Which season do you enjoy the most? "Summer. I grew up in the middle of Jutland, so I always had an hour and a half drive to the sea, but my parents liked to drive that trip to get to the water. Not least in the summer months, when you could swim. During the summer holidays we always went camping in Italy, and as an adult I also love to travel. Every summer I make sure to spend at least a week in Denmark, because I love the Danish summer light, but I also make sure to go abroad, so I'm sure to get some sun and warmth.'
'Where in the country would you like to go? like to be buried? "I don't think much about death. In fact, I try to avoid thinking about it. I'm not the type to believe that anything happens afterward. Unfortunately. Otherwise, it could be nice if you went to a nice place and saw all the people you've cared about again. My mother's family was quite religious, and so is my mother actually, but I did not inherit that faith. Therefore, I also have the opinion that you should enjoy and get the most out of life while you have it. You do that by being in the moment and being grateful for the things you have, and trying not to be upset about all the things you don't have.
There will always be something you wish was better or different, but if you get stuck in those thoughts, it will be difficult to be satisfied with the life you live. But of course, you have to seek out the dreams you have. That's what life is all about. And when I have to leave here, I want to be buried in Ikast. My grandparents also lie there, and my parents will probably lie there too, so somehow there is a sense of security in knowing that is where I am going. Then the ring is just like over.'

Showery. Ship visited by Lady Franklin (and other Ladies) the wife of Governor Sir J Franklin.
Campbell's Notes: Sir John Franklin (1786–1847) joined the Navy in 1800 and saw service at the battle of Copenhagen (1801). He sailed in Investigator with Matthew Flinders for the survey of New Holland (Australia) and on the way home in Porpoise was wrecked on the coral reef near Cato Bank. He was in Bellerophon at Trafalgar (1805) before being confirmed Lieutenant 11 February 1808. In command of the hired brig Trent he accompanied Captain Buchan, HMS Dorothea on a voyage of exploration in the vicinity of Spitsbergen. Thereafter he undertook two expeditions overland, the first to locate the position of the mouth of the Coppermine River and survey the northern coast of Canada in its vicinity, and the second in 1825 to cooperate with Captains Beechey and Parry in a search for the north-west passage. He was promoted Captain on 20 November 1822 on his return from the first expedition and Knighted after the second. He was appointed Lieutenant Governor of Van Dieman’s Land, January 1837 and held the post until November 1843. His attempts to establish a representative assembly and improve social and educational facilities were unpopular with the Government from whose point of view his governorship was at best unsuccessful and at worst disastrous. He was however popular among the colonists, both settlers and convicts, for his sense of justice and compassion. He ended his life, 11 June 1847, in command of the Erebus, with Captain Crozier in the Terror, in an other attempt to find the north-west passage (which sailed in 1845), before the ships were abandoned on 22 April 1848. some belated hyperspecific poll lore
"on a first name basis with a grandparent" - this was originally going to be about the specific experience of having an adoptee parent with a good relationship w/ biological family but i couldn't figure out a good way to word it so i just zeroed in on the fact that it'd be awkward to call my mum's birth mother grandma when she's technically more of a close family friend to us
"family member knows a former child actor from a classic movie through work" - julie dawn cole who played veruca salt in willy wonka and the chocolate factory (1971) if you're reading this. Hi
"great-grandparent was briefly assumed dead in a war" - i've only heard this story a couple times to my recollection but shout out to my great-grandpa (specifically my paternal grandmother's father) who was thought to have been killed in battle until a friend went to pay respects and was like hang on a minute
"have owned multiple generations of immediately related pets at once" - in loving memory of my cat daisy and her grandson midnight and my other cat eva and her son spike... daisy's daughter henrietta is our only living cat left
"have not completed a single year of further education" - school has just been too hard for me with my autism and my then-undiagnosed adhd and my depression and all </3 at least i'm doing better enough now that online university is on the table in the near future?
been to at least 3 hard rock cafe locations - copenhagen, orlando, lisbon, rome, and seattle baby!!
