This is Peanut. Heâs 5 months-old and sponsored by Mark Martin. SNAP Cats rescued Peanut from Folsom, CA. Peanut is the typical, playful, energetic kitten. He loves human attention, gets along great with other (FeLV+) cats, and loves his wet food! Since Peanut is FeLV+ heâll need to be with other FeLV+ kittens/cats. Currently heâs too young to be an only cat. He needs a playmate.
If youâre interested in Peanut please fill out an adoption application at https://www.snapcats.org/adoption-process/. Thanks!

Trippy was born on March 21st, 2022. We had talked about getting a cat, but I was resistant. However, when our next door neighbor was cat sitting a pregnant mama cat, I told my wife we could keep a kitten if she ended up giving birth while they were there. Our neighbor wasn't supposed to have her that long, so I didn't really think it was going to pan out, if I'm being honest.

But before we knew it, 3 kittens were born, and I had the privilege of meeting them just minutes after they were born. It wasn't long before we picked Trippy to be ours, she was the most rambunctious of the litter and showed her personality early on. She stayed with her mom and siblings, but we got to visit her and when she got a little bigger would come to our house for short periods of time. Finally, when the kittens were old enough, Trippy got to come home with us to stay. We were already so attached and she was our perfect, beautiful baby.

We had limited funds so we took her to a mobile spay and neuter clinic that provided her vaccines, spay surgery and a tag when she was a few months old.
Trippy stayed inside with the exception of supervised trips outside either on her harness, or within an enclosed area where she couldn't get out. We wanted her to have a chance to explore, but also worried about the dangers of her being outside so she was never allowed out without us watching her.

When we moved to a new apartment, we no longer had the outdoor space we had previously, which meant Trippy spent almost all of her time inside, as even taking her out on her harness became challenging in that environment. She never was in contact with other cats. While it wasn't necessarily a conscious decision, we didn't keep up with her vaccines. It didn't seem like it needed to be a priority because her risk of exposure to anything seemed so low. In retrospect, I wish we had chosen differently.

Psychosophy Descriptions â FELV
The bearer of the mental type "Borgia" is an interesting interlocutor and actor, peaceful, charming and conducive to communication, outwardly attractive and often in his youth a very handsome person.
In his youth and in the first half of his life, he is called a "holiday man", an artist, a charming handsome man or a charming beauty (some vulgarity is noted). Pleasures, a feast, material well-being are more important for him than spiritual and social values.
The internal setting of carriers of the "Borgia" type: money, carnal pleasures rule the world. There is no such thing as too much of money; happiness is the amount of money and material objects owned. With all you can agree with the help of cunning and charm.
Features of manifestation in character and behavior: mercantilism, a tendency to hoarding and luxury, to excesses in food, the need to satisfy carnal pleasures; propensity to receive bribes, stinginess, laziness, apathy, "thick-skinned", idleness, solidity in places of permanent residence, the desire to own real estate, expensive cars, jewelry, good-quality clothes, shoes, accessories, etc.; focus on one's own misunderstanding, and caution in conclusions, a permanent dispute with no result; fear of public speaking and arguments; tendency to ask clarifying questions; verbosity, pauses in conversation, use of parasitic words, interjections. Teachers call a student, a carrier of the âBorgiaâ type, a slowpoke in a class or training group. Instead of a simple solution, he offers several complex ones. Passion for mental activity and at the same time a hidden rebellion against it determine the complexity and originality of the thinking process. Such a person is not easy to speak in public. Sometimes he is jokingly called a chatterbox (if he has the courage to speak in public). He feels insecure in the logical realm, in interviews, discussions, concise formulations, in choosing one solution from several possible ones. It is important for him to have people around him whose advice he can rely on.
In ordinary communication, a person of the âBorgiaâ type is an excellent conversationalist, verbose, artistic, emotional. He has a simple sense of humor. He is an emotionally uninhibited person. His emotions are free and adequate to the moment of communication. He is a good actor, easy to trust and interested in a variety of issues and problems.
A person of the âBorgiaâ type is not confident in himself and does not hide it. It is more convenient for him to be led, subordinate, sacrificial in everyday affairs and events.
By vocation, carriers of the âBorgiaâ type are show business artists, theater and film actors, generous lovers, sellers, realtors, and promoters. They are practically non-existent in the scientific community.

Well, guys, I am unable to stress this enough: check your cats. Especially if you already own another kitty and want a new addition to furry family.
A week ago my local hungry celebrity has become weak and lethargic. Blood tests showed nothing unusual, but his kidneys were in a way less than normal condition on a ultrasound screening. That was a moment where he had been checked for FeLV and the test result was positive. Right now he is on steroids, antibiotics and kidney protectors, but it is highly likely that he already has a lymphoma and/or other problems. Prognosis is not very bright and long for him too. I could only wish he would be checked at his first vet appointment, but they wasn't good enough with providing info on this matter initially.
Fortunately, dirty paws lady is healthy, but they need to be quarantined for a month, till she will have a second FeLV vaccine shot. It's going to be a long month for us, huh. And I can only hope that mister local tumblr celebrity will live for as long as possible without pain and in comfort.

This beautiful young lady is Clover. Sheâs 6 months-old and FeLV+. Clover was found in an apartment complex in Rohnert Park and brought to the Rohnert Park Animal Shelter (RPAS) where she was vaccinated and spayed. Thatâs when they discovered Clover was FeLV+. So RPAS called usâŠ
And the rest is history.
Thank you to the RPAS for getting Clover up-to-date on vaccines, spaying her, and getting her to SNAP Cats!

Happy October 1st! đ»
I'm so happy that we adopted Boombox just in time for spooky season đđâ⏠When he first came to us, his coat was in rough shape due to stress and overgrooming, which was heartbreaking but also kind of adorable, because he'd look like this pudgy little gremlin that had passed out drunk in my bed đ
Thankfully his fur has filled in a lot and is looking much better nowadays, but I'll always remember when he was like this lol đ€

We left the vet and headed to the grocery store to pick up some new cleaning supplies. The vet had recommended cleaning everything with bleach to try to kill any remnants of the virus in our home. Raw with emotion, cleaning was the last thing we wanted to do but we dutifully went through the motions, trying to give Trippy the best possible chance of limiting further exposure.
The six weeks that followed were a grueling waiting game. We also had a week long vacation planned as well as an upcoming move we knew would occur within this time frame. The stress bordered on unmanageable.
Trippy appeared to be doing well, but the slightest possible indication of illness would send us into a tail spin of worry. She had always been a lean cat - but was she too lean? Was she losing weight? We couldn't be sure. She rarely, if ever, vomited, but there were a couple instances where she coughed up a hairball or appeared to have over eaten. Was this a normal occurrence or a symptom of her being sick?

A close friend stayed at our place to watch her and Paco while we were on vacation, and we would ask for frequent and detailed updates about how she was doing. All seemed well, and we continued to be hopeful that she was fighting the virus off.
Our upcoming move was sure to complicate life further. We were about to move into my childhood home with my elderly father, his dog and 3 cats. Prior to Essie becoming sick, we had been taking his pets to the vet, getting their vaccines and testing for underlying health conditions. It had already been a long and expensive few months of vet appointments. Fortunately, the addition onto the home where my dad and his pets lived was attached, but entirely separate from the main home where we would be living. I had been excited to have the additional pets around, and we were also looking forward to an enclosed outdoor space where Trippy could once again safely explore the outdoors under our close supervision. Now, all of that was going to be different, as we could not risk the exposure to the other cats, or to Trippy.

And yet, we managed a successful move. Trippy seemed very comfortable in her new surroundings, and although she wasn't free to go outside, and we couldn't introduce her to the other cats, she loved the additional space and all the windows the house afforded her.

With just a little under a week until our vet appointment, we anxiously awaited answers and clung on to hope that Trippy had escaped a progressive infection.

opinion on the silly ginger cats of the world?
opinion on the amazing black cats of the world (and what people do to them on halloween gee I hate humanity)?
I mean color-wise I have a soft spot for black cats and torties cause of the way people tend to treat them. Otherwise color doesn't mean much on a cat to me. So eh, I like cats based on their individual personalities.
Though, in my experience, FELV+ cats are some of the most loving, affectionate cats I've ever met. In all my life I've met one that was "unfriendly." And she wasn't so much unfriendly as understimulated, so she'd bite more out of boredom than aggression. Love FELV+ cats, can't recommend them enough.
Ugh, the whole issue with black cats, and black animals in general, pisses me off. It's so stupid.
#ask#I would have SO many FELV+ cats if I could#gah they're so amazing#also while working at an animal shelter I found that I actually don't like kittens that much#I mean they're cute but I definitely prefer the adult cats
