criticism for revealing outfit
Jessica Haller is known for always keeping her fans up to date on Instagram. Now the influencer has undergone a change and posted a video about it - but many are simply criticizing her revealing outfit. Jessica Haller, 34, has undergone a drastic change! On her Instagram account, she posted a video in which she shows off her new autumnal hair color and seems visibly happy with it. But many of her followers have their eyes elsewhere: She is receiving a lot of criticism for her revealing outfit.
Tumblr media
Jessica Haller presents: Brown hair, tight autumn outfit
"Embracing my new brown hair era," writes Jessica Haller under the Instagram reel that she shared with her fans. In the video, the now brown-haired woman can be seen walking down the street, sometimes in a model walk, sometimes dancing. She also takes a bite of a croissant and has a coffee-to-go cup in her hand. Her outfit consists of a slightly longer white blouse, over which she wears a cozy-looking sweater in a cream-colored knit look. The former "The Bachelor " candidate combines this with brown over-the-knee boots in a leather look, which perfectly match her new hair color and the sunglasses that she styles with it.
Harsh criticism for Jessica Haller
Many of her followers are excited about Jessica Haller's latest look and write compliments such as: "Omg, it looks so great", "I would marry you immediately if I could" and "The hair color suits you so well". However, some users ignore these and instead ask themselves where Haller's pants are! "It really only covers the bare essentials", "I keep thinking about what you could be wearing under that blouse? Hot pants? Nothing?", one of them says. And there is also an allusion in the comments section to her walking around like Julia Roberts in the film "Pretty Woman", in which she played a prostitute.

I'm a bad person.
When I say I am a bad person, I am not gonna sugarcoat it by acting like it's a silly little thing I do. I genuinely don't care about anything that isn't closely related to me or someone I like.
I don't care about social issues,
I don't care about the morality of the things I do or the things other people do unless I experience them myself.
And I care even less about being judged for it, or what other people think of these social issues. I don't like fast food but I still won't hesitate to buy McDonald's if I crave it, I don't like coffee and I would still buy Starbucks, if I can buy something on shein I won't hesitate to do so.

Frederick’s 30 Days Day 6: Are there popular lolita things you tend to dislike for your own style?
So this might be really controversial but… petticoats ><
A) I travel a lot and I’m a lifestyle lolita; on average I’m out of town at least once a month. I also live in a big city and don’t own a car so I’m on the bus or train everywhere. Trying to pack a petticoat in a suitcase or on public transportation is REALLY annoying so I started skipping it and it turns out I find it a lot more comfortable without!
B) A lot of classic and oldschool styles are either very low or no petti in the first place (or have built in petticoats in the dresses)- so an OTT level cupcake petticoat doesn’t work for most of my coords anyway. I do wear a petticoat on occasion for dresses that look really flat without it…
C) … but tbh no one’s ever called me out on it or said my dresses/skirts look flat/bad. Maybe everyone’s just really nice and keeps this thought to themselves, but imo it’s not very distracting/bad looking and in photos it’s easy to hide if a dress isn’t poofy enough. Who knows, maybe I’ve been posted to cgl over it or would’ve been on BTB but I feel like people care less these days, especially other lifestylers or people who do more casual coords.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Oldschool/classic styles were often a lot more casual about wearing a petticoat or even a blouse- these are all pre-2003 iirc, from GLB’s via lolitahistory. The last one is an ad for Victorian Maiden- a summer coord with no blouse, petti, bloomers, or long socks! (Disclaimer that some of these coords may have petticoats but some clearly don’t, and it’s not always crystal clear which is which)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I’m not wearing a petticoat in any of these pictures (and I tried specifically to look for photos where I’m not holding my skirt out)- would you have been able to tell the difference if I hadn’t told you?
I do want to wear more underskirts though- a lot of dresses are short on me and I just like the added detail. Somewhere in my project bin is an underskirt that I’m hoping will provide a nice amount of length and volume for my dresses and will therefore double as a ‘pettiskirt’- adding some volume but not an overwhelming/uncomfortable amount of fabric. I’ve also been really into a VM underdress I bought recently that I’ve been wearing in my classic coords to lengthen/add some volume to my skirts.
I do want to add that I think a key part of the lolita fashion is the silhouette, which has a poofy knee-length skirt as the ‘platonic ideal’. Skipping a petti absolutely can lead to your coords looking bad and there’s definitely some dresses where I always wear a petti because they need one to look right. But just like longer skirts can still be lolita and are more common in gothic and classic lolita, I think lower volume can be a thing in oldschool or classic coords sometimes too.
On a much less controversial note, I’m also not a huge fan of KC’s and wristcuffs. I’ve really fallen in love with rectangle headdresses and KC’s are a lot more ‘sweet’ to me, so if I wear a head bow it’s usually on the back of the head not on the top. Wristcuffs- I’ve just never liked the feeling of something on my wrist! I don’t wear bracelets or watches either 🤷‍♀️

how do you feel about the terms misandry and transandrophobia
i dislike misandry as a term because the only times its widely used is by radfems who joke about killing all men and follow bioessencialism heavily or misogynists who believe women are making up their struggles and men are the real victims because of xyz. i dont think transandrophobia does that because its specifically like. a lens for looking at the intersection of manhood and transness, like butchphobia, with an emphasis on how the two interact and how we’re treated. some people dont use it that way but i block so transmisogynists liberally on my main that like i literally dont see that shit and i think that there will always be shitty people and good ideas can be used in a shitty way, but i dont see the term being used that way. i do get annoyed when i see it used to mean “anything a trans man goes through”, because thats not super specific and genuinely could be covered by transphobia. but there is specific rhetoric pointed at trans men and mascs and its good to have a term for it. transandrophobia, imo, is the not problematic the way the word transmisandry is and is the most commonly used: i think it suits it’s purpose.
sorry if this last bit doesnt make sense, i’m sick and have been napping on and off all day, but i also think it is important to look at ideologies in small communities and critique them!!! there are feminists out there who genuinely hate men. they say so. explicitly. its a core tenet of some peoples ideology. im a raging feminist, most of the activism i do is feminist activism, i guarantee you most places are not overtly “all men are irrieamably evil and should die” but some people do and its worth pointing out and criticizing. sometime niche groups of trans people are ragingly anti-masculine and this is not everyone!!! but subtly and overtly, it’s good to point out

ella wesner (1841-1917) was the most celebrated male impersonator of the gilded age vaudeville circuit. wesner began her career at the age of nine as part of a family of vaudeville and musical-stage dancers. by her mid-twenties, she was playing both male and female roles, at some point meeting and working as a "dresser" for the most notorious. her most celebrated era was the 1880s; her act included not only songs celebrating the "sporting" life and skits such as her popular rendition of a drunkard getting a barber's shave, but also monologues containing advice for men about how to court, treat and satisfy women.

ffxiv garlemald discourse is so funny because people will go "ugh people just cant stand it when things aren't black and white" and then you look at how the empire are portrayed in stormblood and shadowbringers and its like hm. that seems like a pretty intense and accurate display of violent imperialism to me! Wow I wonder why people in this day and age may find it hard to feel sympathy for them or even hate them on principal. god its such a mystery.
the games like 50/50 to me on how it tackles these themes because I actually like the garlemald arc in EW, I think it has a lot of horrific and powerful scenes depicting how self destructive fascist propaganda and beliefs are, but I also think it doesn't go far enough on some fronts. the garleans' xenophobia is most notably and obstacle to getting them to accept the contingent's help, which is what they're there to do,
but there's never an admission of harm from any garleans on the uuuuuuuuh massive amount of war crimes the nations around them are still suffering from they're just kind of like "we misjudged you...but you actually wanted to help us all along" like yeah thats great now can we get you all some deprogramming because you keep talking about returning to your prime and glory days and I think we need to unpack some stuff you really SHOULDNT return to. im not even really talking about EW proper but the patches where things are a bit more chilled out and people are recovering.
It feels like they wanted to have their critique of imperialism and also have things end with the beauty of human connection and reaching out and these things just don't mesh well because hey a lot of your modern day audience is not gonna like having to treat people yelling xenophobic things at the cast and your character with kid gloves after you showed them hours and hours of the awful things these people's beliefs have done. especially in the present day hoo boy.
#im kind of torn between 'no characters dont need to be 'punished' to be redeemed but also the characters just being so lenient with the#colonizers after we see far too many people being lenient if not supportive of the colonizers irl. well. it really blows afslkjfalkf and#yeah you can argue if they'd gone through with the garlemald expansion they would've had more time to go into this but the fact is that its#absent from what they did do and I especially think the patches when we go to garlemald and the EW role quests going 'hey maybe the#provinces can help us rebuild' as if they'd have any goddamn right to ask that just make me feel like they didnt stick the landing#seeing all the characters who have suffering time and time again bc of the garleans or seen the results of their actions having to clamp#their mouths shut every time someone said something xenophobic in EW isnt satisfying and it leaves so much unsaid!#also some people feel like the narrative didnt blame emet enough but ngl I think thats reductive even with his micromanaging scheming littl#ass and the intention of garlemald turning out a shitshow that doesnt make anyone else less complicit. most governments like this exaggerat#and lie and spread propaganda but I dont think most people here excuse the actions of a bigot because 'they were raised that way'#this is also my issue with gaius' writing. hes primarily upset that ascians were behind what he thought was his good old fashioned natural#conquering ideology :( and doesnt it suck so much he killed people for it. like yeah he seems pretty aware what he did was wrong but his#ideology remains bizarrely intact and unchallenged by the characters around him. no dude it wasnt just the ascians the system is a lot more#complex than that by this point aaaaaugh#final fantasy xiv#ffxiv#siren says#I hope people are nice to me about this I dont think I said anything particularly controversial to the Tumblr crowd (twt maybe but fuck em)#ig my main point with this post is that the game isnt perfect at writing this and also that look. I actually liked the main arc in EW and I#like quite a few garlean characters but I completely understand why others didnt like it or any garleans esp if they have their own persona#experiences with colonialism and I dont get to tell them they're invalid for that. too many people get judgmental about this understandably#upsetting topic and you just gotta accept that this is a big line for many people
