While nothing developed in the north end street, a group of young men alleged by police to be Italians broke a large store window in the theater district and then disappeared. An attempt was also made to break the window of a store in the east end, but arrival of the police caused the young men to depart hurriedly.

In an embarrassing but completely predictable turn of event, it's revealed that at least 330 out of 553 names on the Memorial to the Victims of Communism have potential links to Nazis or fascists.

A 2023 report for Canadian Heritage recommended more than 330 names be excluded to be on the safe side, the records noted. The exclusions were recommended because of the lack of information about the individuals or organizations and whether they might have links to fascist organizations or the Nazis. Some of the entries could also be removed because they have no direct link to Canada. The memorial, which is located near the corner of Wellington and Bay streets, is supposed to honour those who suffered under communism. But concerns have been raised over the years by Jewish organizations and historians that names of eastern Europeans who collaborated with the Nazis in the Holocaust have been put forward in an attempt to whitewash their past. The memorial was supposed to be unveiled in November 2023 but that was put on hold after members of Parliament honoured Yaroslav Hunka, a Ukrainian soldier with the Waffen-SS Galicia Division, a voluntary unit that was under the command of the Nazis. That incident became an international embarrassment for Canada.

Canada’s leader of the official opposition pulled over on the side of a highway Tuesday evening and paid a surprise visit to a group of far-right extremists who have staged protests at the Nova Scotia–New Brunswick border for the last three years. Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre was seen posing for selfies and giving pep talks to members of the group, which subscribes to a range of fringe conspiracies and extreme views, in livestream videos posted on social media. The group has been camped out at the border for the last month purportedly to protest the carbon tax, however, the group is led by the same people who have been protesting at the interprovincial border since 2021 — originally to oppose public health orders.

Prime Minister Trudeau secured his place in history tonight.

He spoke without hatred or animosity to the American people, but with resolve to defend Canada against the MAGA regime's aggression, and called on the Canadian people to stand together, to make sacrifices to defend our country, and persevere.

The petty debates and scandals, whether you supported the carbon tax... nobody will remember that shit in 50 years.

But they'll remember this.

They'll remember that when a fascist took control of Canada's ally and threatened its sovereignty, Prime Minister Trudeau stood strong, and rallied all Canadians to do the same.

Page 2. ---- Close of 1,200 Attend Meeting of Protest Against Nazi Activities --- The civilized nations of the world. should protest the burning of Jewish books in Germany, declared Rabbi Osher Zilberstein at a protest meeting against the recent Nazi actions held in the Hebrew Free school Wednesday night.

A large audience, numbering close to 1,200, attended the meeting to hear Rabbi Zilberstein, Dr. I. Pearlman, Marcus Hyman, and several other speakers. Ald. M. A. Gray was in the chair.

Rabbi Zilberstein said the protest of the world should say. "Give up your powder and guns, you modern barbarians; such things are a danger, even in the hands of civilized people, much more so in yours; put on bow and arrow and turn back to your woods." He characterized the burning of the books as a "horrible exhibition" and an "insane practice."

The modern mediaevals of Germany burned the records of physics, mathematics, medical science, music and art, only because they were of Jewish authorship. Such things could only be condemned and pitied. Hitler had tried for 14 years to show that the Jews were responsible for Germany's troubles, and later for the world's, but now he was demonstrating that they were responsible only insofar as Einstein's Theory of Relativity, Freud's Psychoanalysis and Heine's poems were.

Dr. Pearlman stated that that not only were the Hitlerites destroying the best that had been created in their world of literature, but an integral part of German culture."They may destroy the books, but they will never succeed in destroying the spirit contained in them," declared S. Miller, another speaker.

The first concentration camp opened months after their election; it was another year or two before they established extermination camps.

Hitler expanded his empire, pushing from Germany into neighboring countries. Poland. France.

Today, a man stood on stage during the United States presidential inauguration and did a stiff-armed Nazi salute.

That same man has joked about making your country the 51st state. They intend to do that by crippling your economy.

Conservative delegates voted Saturday to add some new social conservative policies to their policy playbook, including a proposal to limit access to transgender health care for minors and another to do away with vaccine mandates. Despite warnings that these policies could be weaponized by their political opponents to hurt their standing among more moderate voters, a strong majority of the delegates on hand voted for a motion that stated children should be prohibited from gender-related "life-altering medicinal or surgical interventions," and for another that said Canadians should have "bodily autonomy" when it comes to vaccines and other health treatments. About 69 per cent of the delegates agreed that young people should be barred from gender-affirming care, which sometimes includes hormone-related treatments that delay puberty or promote the development of masculine or feminine sex characteristics.
