This is such a shot in the dark but does anyone know/remember a FF7 x Harvest Moon fic from Lunaescence? It was written like a game guide and I was obsessed with it. Wondering if it ever got cross posted anywhere after Luna. Any recs would be welcome!

Finished FFVII Rebirth and while I have a lot of thoughts about it, I REALLY want to talk about its world design and how they built off of the existing world of VII.

Break cause this is long and kinda rambly

Okay, so I love the aesthetic of the world, both purely for the aesthetics (I love overgrown, weathered, and decaying machinery) but also for what it says.

The abandoned industrial machinery, collapsing buildings, and decaying highways almost feels post apocalyptic, with the ways the wreckage is inhabited and being used for scrap, giving more of a post-post-apocalypse.

But the apocalypse in question is just Shinra.

There weren't any massive mega weapons unleashed (yeah theres stuff like the canon in Junon but thats not really what I mean here), no plagues, sure there was war but they're farily distant in time or location.

No it's purely the dominance of The Shinra Electric Power Company and its negligence in maintenance and lack of public investment outside of that which'll direclty impact the managerial class and the troops.

They stop maintaining highways cause if their managers are traveling they can afford to fly, construction and excavation equipment gets abandoned in the desert cause it's not producing anymore and doing anything to move or disassemble any of it is more expense than it's worth, failed remote Mako reactors sit abandoned and full of hazardous material cause why should Shinra give a shit? it's not like they have any reason to care about the people who relied on them, what're they gonna do?

And because it's happened on such a long timescale nobody in the world really seems to conceptualize it as an apocalypse, just a sad state of affairs, maybe one with a clear cause, but nobody views the world as *being* post-apocalyptic despite it being so.

TWST Demon AU- Cater

So, I’ve made more adjustments to my Demon AUs version of Cater from before the story opens at Night Raven. Told as a list to keep my thoughts in order.

1. He was sacrificed to a demon at age 9 by his mother. 2. Before that his mother did not treat him well, thinking him as more a burden than anything.  He was an accident.  She never wanted to have more children beyond her 2 daughters and Cater suffered for it. 3.  His sister were spoiled rotten brats who could do no wrong in their mother’s eyes.  This lead to them blaming a lot of their wrongdoings on Cater and getting him into trouble. 4. His father was a busy man working as an investment banker and this led to him not being home often. 5. His fathers name is Jules.  His mother is Teresa.  His sisters are Claudia and Ruby. 6. Not that they come up often, not with how Teresa sacrificed him and no one, not even his father, looked too hard for him. 7. He was adopted by the Succubus, Di’natha.  Referred to below as mother, as she was more a mother to him than Teresa Diamond ever was. 8. At the age of 16 he decided to partake in the ritual that would allow him to become a full blooded Succubus.      A. This is the most extreme form of the ritual and he had to have counseling for over a year before it to ensure he was in the right mental space to make the decision.

9. Upon becoming a full demon, he started to live with his mother’s clan, and thus ended up in the internals of Bald Mountain where time and space do not flow like the worlds outside.       A. What I’m trying to say is that Cater is, by the time of the story proper, in the middle of his second century.  Around 247 years. 10. He joined the military, as all demons do, and was put in the 3rd Pillar (the Army) at first.  Then he was transferred to the 4th Pillar after 5 years.  11. Then, after an incident that left him on downtime recovering from a injury, he found he enjoyed classes at the Diplomatic School run by the 8th Pillar.  This led to him discovering a talent with diplomacy. 12. Soon after he recovered from his injury, he requested transfer to the 8th, which was granted after a long discussion between his commanding officer and the then head of the Diplomat Corp section of the 8th pillar. 13. He took several classes and was certified as a Diplomat.  This is also when he first met Yuna, who hadn’t yet become a general. 14. There was another incident that caused the 2 to team up together and discover they were really good at the whole fighting together thing.  Their superiors noticing had them trained up as a Hunter/Killer duo who hunted down demons who fled the Mountain and caused trouble in the outside world. 15. The doesn’t go on for long and Yuna gets promoted to the General of the 8th Pillar.  She appoints Cater as her aide and makes him the one in charge of the Diplomat Corps.  16. Finally after several decades of working, Cater gets some time off (like several months worth to decompress) and decides to live on the external part of the Mountain in his World of Origin (Twisted Wonderland).  There, he finds he is invited to Night Raven University (Yes, I’m making it a University rather than the equivalent of a high school.  I think it flows better that way).  He accepts, mostly to get an idea of what is going on in the world and applies for an educational sabbatical.  Yuna’s sad to see him go, but it’s only 4 years.  17. Cater’s majoring in Public Relations and Magic Theory

Then Yuna ends up at Night Raven 3 years later....

Plus I have more ideas for what his first 2 years in school were like.  

I have 2 idea for how Cater looks as a demon.

FOOD IN FINAL FANTAYS GAMES

One thing I'd love to see a deep analysis on in Final Fantasy games is the food. Many of the games feature an array of many delicious foods. Whether it's Korean BBQ from the Wall Market in Final Fantasy 7 or the delicious pastries/breads from the new Final Fantasy 16. There are so many great examples of awesome food from the series. One of these days, someone should do a proper deep dive video.
