"Jealous FOR" Is a Much Different Animal Than "Jealous OF"
Have you ever stopped to consider that the Lord proclaims Himself to be jealous? What do you think He means by that? “You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my…

This Verse Secretly Undermines All of Christianity...
youtube
I just saw this and thought I would process it on my own.
This YouTuber doesn't sound like he's explored much beyond mainstream Western Christianity. He makes the bold statement that EVERY Christian sect finds indispensable the idea that Christ died on the Cross "for our sins". Period.
For the longest time I found that challenging too. He goes on to talk about many of the same things I've asked, "Why couldn't God just forgive us outright? Why must he go through a generational pageant to do something the God of the Universe could have done of his own accord in the first place?"
You can say this is a dumb question. I've been told this many times.
Yet I have never been the only one asking this.
Many, if not all Atheists ask this question. Frankly, many "Christian" answers sound a little unhinged.
Now, I don't think that his examples necessarily contradict the prevailing point of view though. All anyone has to do is look at the banking industry to see that credit on future earnings is a valid payment method. Now it's true that modern banking, and especially credit, wasn't developed until the European Jews, unable to make a living any other way, started lending during the medieval period. Jesuits came up with the idea of insurance, which didn't technically fall under the prohibition against usury. And with ongoing innovation, modern financial markets developed.
None of these, of course, would have been understood by the local people of Jesus' time and place.
What was understood was life and death.
And this is where I found my peace.
Sins can easily be forgiven, but sickness and eventual death? That's a whole other nut to crack. Now, to be clear, unfortunately even the most traditional Christian communities have started to obsess about how SIN must be atoned!
But there is a strain in the oldest Christian traditions that it wasn't primarily sin that was destroyed on the cross, but rather death, disease, corruption (of which sin is a derivation to be sure, but not the point).
Now it's easy to look around and say - "Look! it didn't work." I myself have had to say good bye to both my parents over the last several months.
However, there is a resurrection that is promised. And if Christ has done what he said he did, then there WILL be a general resurrection.
The key is to be prepared for that resurrection. Now we could go on about which denomination is best prepared, but I have little faith in denominationalism. I think it's a means to conquer and divide the faithful, pitting follower against follower. Soon the God who's being worshiped isn't the most High God, but the Deceiver who encourages us all to call each other heretics. I do not think most "Christians" are Christian, but rather following their own wisdom (1 Timothy 6:3-5, 2 Thessalonians 2:11, Matthew 7:13-14, Matthew 24:11).
Now I may be a false teacher myself for thinking such a thing and putting it out there, but I have faith that God will know his own. And while he loves the rest, and has given them life, that life will be so much less for the fact that they reject what he's given them.
I find the idea of a river of fire helpful - Moses and the Glory of God (Exodus 33:20-23), speaks to the idea that to human senses, God is Fire. The Story of the Three Holy Youths (Daniel 3) has also been seen as an illustration of man abiding in the presence of fire, as a proxy for God, unharmed. Pentecost is God's fire experienced by the faithful after his resurrection. How will Gods fire be experienced by the unfaithful?
I have no idea, but I doubt that it will be pleasant (Luke 16:19-31).
In short, I feel this video failed to land it's point. There's enough diversity in Christianity to survive this argument, though I do not think that most modern Christians are open to my resolution.
Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, Have mercy upon me, a sinner.

The Lord's Law for the Lost and for the Rescued (257) - August 3 2024
Choose your Podcast App to Play this episode Romans 3:20 (AMPC) states that [the real function of] the Law is to make men recognize and be conscious of sin [not mere perception, but an acquaintance with sin which works toward repentance, faith, and holy character]. For the born-again believer in Christ, Romans 6:14 shows they are no longer under the Law as slaves, but under grace as subjects of…

God Gripped
We are gripped by God in an embrace of unconditional love, mercy and grace. We are never forsaken by God.
You always have God’s presence. For hasn’t he promised you, “I will never leave you, never! And I will not loosen my grip on your life!”So we can say with great confidence: “I know the Lord is for me and I will never be afraid of what people may do to me!”Hebrews 13 Grow At Your Pace I know I am not perfect. "If you make Me an altar of stone, you shall not build it of hewn stones, for if you wield your tool on it you profane it." Exodus 20:25.
Whenever man modifies what the LORD God has made or overrules God's decree, the result is defilement and depravity, which produces death.
Sex reassignment surgery, same-sex union, every unnatural or unlawful sexual relation is a blatant insult against God, the holy Designer and Maker of the human body. Such things defile man - "Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body.“ 1 Corinthians 6:18.
He who defiles himself cannot see God. Galatians 5:19-21 reads, “ Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.”
Revelation 21:8, “ But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the detestable, as for murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death.”

Abortion is Murder & Unbiblical
The Bible does not use the word abortion. How could it? The term itself as a procedure wasn't invented yet! However, the Bible does cover:
Humanity's inherent value and rights as (uniquely among creation) made in the image of God
Murder
Child/infant murder as something abhorrent to God
Life's beginnings, indirectly (although that also has biological support)
Legal ramifications of killing a child in the womb
How God sees and interacts with children in the womb
How we as His followers are meant to treat children
What He expects us to do for the defenseless and vulnerable (i.e., the most defenseless and vulnerable human imaginable is the one in the womb)
And how the question of following Him and His Word is what makes or breaks the difference between a Christian and someone who claims the name but is tragically unsaved  Below are some verses and some additional explication (partial credit: @glowsticks-and-jesus)
Proverbs 31:8
Luke 1:44
2nd Kings 17:17
Jeremiah 19:5
Genesis 9:6
Exodus 21:22-25
Matthew 7:20 - 23
John 15:14
1st John 1:5-10, 2:3-6
Exodus 20:13
Mark 10:13-15 Leviticus 20:3-5 (https://biblehub.com/hebrew/mizzaro_2233.htm)
Matthew 18:10, 14
Psalm 22:10
Jacob & Esau, John the Baptist, Samson, etc.
Judges 16:17  Glowsticks-and-Jesus Collection:
"Now the word of the Lord came to me, saying, 'Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you, and before you were born, I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.'"Jeremiah 1:4-5
"The Lord called me from the womb, from the body of my mother he named my name."Isaiah 49:1
John the Baptist leaped in Elizabeth’s womb when Mary greeted her cousin (Luke 1:39-45), an example that babies in utero are responsive human beings already aware of the outside world.
The righteous Hebrew midwives at the time of Moses pleased God by saving babies deemed unworthy of life by the authorities of their day (Ex. 1:15-21).
As an additional note -- these references are included above, but worth a second mention -- it's plain that child sacrifice - child murder - is something that God abhors and explicitly does not command. I'd look here (https://biblehub.com/jeremiah/19-5.htm) and here (https://biblehub.com/2_kings/17-17.htm) and check out the cross-references as well. Likewise, there is direct support for laws against murder and the protection of the unborn (up to capital punishment) in the Bible (Genesis 9:6; Exodus 21:22-25  -- an additional reference here included about the common misunderstanding of the latter verses: https://www.str.org/w/what-exodus-21-22-says-about-abortion).
In summary -- it's possible (although, I believe, it does deprive its proponents of a foundational basis for the value of life) to be both secular and anti-abortion. But it is not possible for a Christian who truly understands their faith, their God, and His Word to be pro-abortion.

"From the River to the Sea"
@Daniel_Sugarman
In this thread, I’m going to go into some detail about what the phrase “From the River to the Sea, Palestine will be Free” means to many Jewish people. You may not agree, but I hope that it may enlighten those who simply don't understand the almost visceral reaction to it.
🧵
2) For the benefit of a number of students at some of America’s most expensive higher education institutions, let’s start by clarifying - the river is the River Jordan, the sea is the Mediterranean.
Tumblr media
3) So what do those chanting it mean? When asked, a bunch of them will say they want a single state in this area in which all people can live together in dignity and equality. Sounds great, right? Who would argue with that?
4) That claim is somewhat muddied when one particular version of that chant is used in Arabic, as has been heard and seen at various protests - من المية للمية / فلسطين عربية “From water to water, Palestine is Arab”. But let's leave that aside for the moment.
5) Note that the protesters are not calling for Israel to be *changed* into what they see as a free and equal society. For them this can only be achieved by Israel being *ended* and replaced by Palestine.
6) Objectively, you can say that the reason for this is that the protestors believe that Israel (and Zionism) is fundamentally incompatible with what they see as equality and freedom for all, which is why for them it has to go in its entirety. But...
7) But there is a significant degree of ambiguity as to what the end result *actually* means. And it’s that question mark which is why so many Jewish people see this slogan the way they do.
Tumblr media
8) Because Jewish people have lots of different examples of what happens to Jewish communities who are minorities in countries in the MENA region. They get destroyed. I'll give you some examples.
9) Egypt. 1948 - 75,000 Jews. 2024 - 30 Jews.
Tumblr media
10) Lebanon. 1948 - 9,000 Jews. 2024 - 20 Jews.
Tumblr media
11) Syria. 1948 - 15,000 Jews. 2024 - 4 Jews.
Tumblr media
12) Yemen. 1948 - 55,000 Jews. 2024 - 1 Jew.
Tumblr media
13) Iraq. 1948 - 156,000 Jews. 2024 - 1 Jew.
Tumblr media
14) Iran. 1948 - 150,000 Jews. 2024 - 8,750 Jews (under the strict control of the Iranian regime).
Tumblr media
15) Libya. 1948 - 40,000 Jews. 2024 - No Jews.
Tumblr media
16) Algeria. 1948 - 150,000 Jews. 2024 - 150 Jews,
Tumblr media
17) Tunisia. 1948 - 105,000 Jews. 2024 - 1,500 Jews.
Tumblr media
18) Morocco. 1948 - 270,000 Jews. 2024 - 2,000 Jews.
Tumblr media
19) The anti-Zionist narrative is that this mass Exodus was the fault of the Zionists, who created Israel. No Israel, goes the refrain, and all those communities would still be there.
This ignores a very simple point.
20) In every single one of these countries, to a greater or lesser extent, Israel’s independence was followed by significant repression of local Jewish populations.
Every one.
21) Remind me, what’s the way to describe holding members of an ethnic or racial group responsible for what other members of that group may have done elsewhere?
22) By doing so - oppressing the local Jewish population via pogroms, repressive laws, denying Jewish people full citizenship, confiscation of land and property - these MENA countries made a more effective argument for Zionism than Israel ever could have done by itself.
23) What that said, very clearly, was that Jews as a minority in a MENA country lived there strictly on sufferance. That at any time they could be deprived of everything - including their lives.
This had been clear pre-Zionism too, but the reaction post-'48 put the seal on this.
24) Which brings us back to now. The one-state Palestine being dreamt of is one where, at best, Jews will be allowed to live as a minority.
25) I put it to you that the experience of more than half of Israel’s Jewish population - descended from those who had to leave MENA countries, means that they *know* what the end result of such a Palestine will be.
A land without Jews.
26) This, by the way, given most Israeli Jews now are descendants of MENA Jews is also why the “post-colonial” depiction of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict as some sort of “white vs brown” battle is so utterly brainless. And that’s before we discuss Israel’s many Ethiopian Jews.
27) I’ve gone on too long, I know, but just one final point. If the anti-Israel protestors really wanted to assure Jews - all Jews - that there would be a real future for Jews in their hoped for future one-state Palestine - they would be doing their best to engage with Zionists.
28) They would be saying “Zionism is an ideology built on numerous examples - in MENA and in Europe - that Jews are, in the long term, only safe in their own country. Let us show you that this isn’t necessarily the case. Let’s talk. Find common ground. Try for friendships.”
29) Instead Zionists are told they are Nazis. The same age-old antisemitic conspiracy theories about Jewish control are applied to “Zionists”. “Zionists” are excluded from the Community of the Good.
30) Congratulations!
You’ve just proved every single Jewish Zionist’s point for them - and you’ve helped create new ones. In a very similar way to those MENA countries post 1948.

What The Bible Says About Mothers ~ 📖
Tumblr media
🕊 Honor
She is to be honored. Exodus 20:12 Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you.
🤍 Remembered
She is not forgotten. Isaiah 49:15 Can a woman forget her nursing child, and not have compassion on the son of her womb? Surely they may forget, yet I will not forget you.
🕊 Comfort
The Lord comforts a mother as she comforts her childred. Isaiah 66:13 As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you; and you will be comforted over Jerusalem.
🤍 Legacy
Her faith leaves a legacy. 2 Timothy 1:5 I am reminded of your sincere faith, which first lived in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice and, I am persuaded, now lives in you also.
🕊 Teacher
She teaches her children diligently. Deuteronomy 6:6 And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart.
🤍 Blessed
Her children will rise up and call her blessed. Proverbs 31:28 Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her.
🕊 Housekeeper
She looks well to the house. Proverbs 31:27 She looks well to the ways of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness.
🤍 Strong
She is strong and diligent. Proverbs 31:25 She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future.

Why is god in one of the yandere??
Exodus 20:5–6 — New Living Translation (NLT)
"You must not bow down to them or worship them, for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God who will not tolerate your affection for any other gods. I lay the sins of the parents upon their children; the entire family is affected—even children in the third and fourth generations of those who reject me. 6 But I lavish unfailing love for a thousand generations on those who love me and obey my commands."

The Ten Commandments
1 Then Moses called all Israel, and said unto them, Hear, O Israel, the ordinances and the laws which I propose to you this day, that ye may learn them, and take heed to observe them.
2 The Lord our God made a covenant with us in Horeb.
3 The Lord made not this covenant with our fathers only, but with us, even with us all here alive this day.
4 The Lord talked with you face to face in the Mount, out of the midst of the fire.
5 (At that time I stood between the Lord and you, to declare unto you the word of the Lord: for ye were afraid at the sight of the fire, and went not up into the mount) and he said,
6 ¶ I am the Lord thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage.
7 Thou shalt have none other gods before my face.
8 Thou shalt make thee no graven image or any likeness of that that is in heaven above, or which is in the earth beneath, or that is in the waters under the earth.
9 Thou shalt neither bow thyself unto them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, even unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me:
10 And showing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.
11 Thou shalt not take the Name of the Lord thy God in vain: for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh his Name in vain.
12 Keep the Sabbath day to sanctify it, as the Lord thy God hath commanded thee.
13 Six days thou shalt labor, and shalt do all thy work:
14 But the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord thy God: thou shalt not do any work therein, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, nor thy manservant, nor thy maid, nor thine ox, nor thine ass, neither any of thy cattle, nor the stranger that is within thy gates: that thy manservant and thy maid may rest as well as thou.
15 For, remember that thou wast a servant in the land of Egypt, and that the Lord thy God brought thee out thence by a mighty hand, and a stretched out arm: therefore the Lord thy God commanded thee to observe the Sabbath day.
16 ¶ Honor thy father and thy mother, as the Lord thy God hath commanded thee, that thy days may be prolonged, and that it may go well with thee upon the land, which the Lord thy God giveth thee.
17 Thou shalt not kill.
18 Neither shalt thou commit adultery.
19 Neither shalt thou steal.
20 Neither shalt thou bear false witness against thy neighbor.
21 Neither shalt thou covet thy neighbor’s wife, neither shalt thou desire thy neighbor’s house, his field, nor his manservant, nor his maid, his ox, nor his ass, nor ought that thy neighbor hath.
22 ¶ These words the Lord spake unto all your multitude in the mount of the midst of the fire, the cloud and the darkness, with a great voice, and added no more thereto: and wrote them upon two tables of stone, and delivered them unto me. — Deuteronomy 5:1-22 | 1599 Geneva Bible (GNV) Geneva Bible, 1599 Edition. Threat of Hell
I often see videos circulating online of atheists saying that people who need to be threatened with eternal damnation to be a good person are "bad people on leashes." This argument which I'm starting to see more as of late is trying to twist Christianity into what it's not: a rule book. Yes, the Bible does give people laws to follow and specific things to believe in. Yes, the Bible also says believing in those distinct things is your one-way ticket to heaven. No, this doesn't make people "bad" for following them just to keep themselves out of hell. True belief doesn't come from fear of hell, it comes from excitement to be with God in heaven. I see it as a gift to be able to follow Jesus Christ. I also see it as a gift to have an opportunity to be with him in heaven instead of the lake of fire. I don't see it as shackles on my feet keeping me from doing what I "really want to do in life." The Bible teaches me morals. It tells me what is right and wrong. Other people find morals from different places, however, I never see the argument that "because there are laws against murder it means everyone is a bad person because they would go around murdering without it." It's only with religious books that I see this argument brought out. The Bible is a book of morals, not a book of rules. The things it teaches help us be the best person we can be, it teaches us to be like Jesus. What is wrong with being a loving and helpful person?
People often see religion as a way to control a population and get them to do what one person, usually the head of the religion, wants. However, that would be a cult, and there is a big difference between religions and cults. In the Bible, you choose to let God into your life. He gave us free will, and he is letting us use it. If God wanted a bunch of rule-following robots, he could've done so. The Bible says numerous times that God is a jealous God (Exodus 20:5, Deuteronomy 6:14-15, Exodus 34:14). He wants us to follow him. He wants us to praise him in all that we do. No matter how many followers on earth he has, it doesn't change one thing that it would change if Christianity were a cult. Jesus doesn't get any worldly possessions from having more followers. The tithes and offerings you put in the bowl don't go directly to Heaven's mailbox. Cult leaders often have one person at the head of the operation who obtains money, power, and possessions over people when they have followers. God is omnipotent. He doesn't get more power when 10 people follow him, he doesn't get more power when 10000 people follow him. He is all-knowing and all-powerful. You might be thinking, "Then why does he want us to follow Him in the first place?" Because he loves us. God wants us to be with him in Heaven, and God knows that following and believing in him is the only way to do that. The Lord is giving us a chance to make it to paradise and so many skip out on it to have fun for 50-80 years on Earth.
Christianity does have faults in its leaders. I won't lie about that. I can get the argument that Christianity is a cult when you look at the pastors getting rich off of their congregation. They buy private planes and cars with the donations they get from the people. Yes, influential church leaders can get their congregation to do things that aren't exactly what you would call "Christian". I've seen sermons of certain pastors preaching hate against certain groups when they know the Bible is all about love. With a little bit of common sense, and the Bible by your side, it is possible to see right through these false teachings and go back to what is right: what the Bible teaches. The Bible is your weapon against evil, so wield it. The Bible is your protector from the Devil, so hold it. The Bible is your teacher throughout life, so read it. Ask God to give you discernment on what is right and wrong and fortify your understanding with what the Bible tells you.

All those Christians voted for Trump and called him the second coming of Jesus. Meanwhile, he's trying to ban the Holy Bible. See what happens when you praise a false god?

OH GOD THE RAPTURE IS BURNING (Table of Contents)
While this book has many names and many people in it, all the events and opinions portrayed are fictitious. Some real names were used, with permission, but only for aesthetics’s sake. People often express confusion over some of the emoticons in the story. Most are self-explanatory, but just bear in mind that every one has eyes and a mouth. .w. has the periods as the eyes and the w is related to the "kittyface" of :3, with the former emoticon intended as an expression of humble happiness (something like "Aw, shucks!"). The < in <:D is intended as eyebrows, not a party hat, no matter who tells you otherwise. This story is long. The first draft was started in 2011 and continued until 2013, the second draft finished the story in 2013, the third and fourth drafts were refinements of the whole and came around 2014. The fifth draft added a lot more content, introducing an element you'll see as the "Attacheds," and this came in 2015. This formed the basis for the sixth draft in 2016, which was published on Amazon as the First Edition. That draft saw refinement and tweaking for several years (the seventh draft). What you are looking at now is the Second Edition, the eighth and final draft. The point of all this is: I have had many opportunities to change this story. I have taken many things out. The content and how it is treated will make you uneasy, somewhere, somewhen. It is best to read this story by yourself, where you can feel your emotions rawly and give them space. Privacy is a theme here. There are many more themes for you to discover. Good luck.
