The Opera houses, theathers, and halls mentiond in the One Moment of Aria skin set.

I ddon't know why, I make an another post about thise garment. Probably because I like them.

In the splash art of Ms Moissan's garment, the Metropolitan Opera House is mentiond.

If someone doasn't know. The Metropolitan Opera House is one of the most femouse opera houses. It's located in the USA, it opend in 1883, and I didn't looked up at the price, but it's pretty safe to asume the ticket are expensive. The architecture of the building was made by Wallace K. Harrison, and the opera house was found, and it's founder is Ottó Hermann Kahn.

In Satsuki's garment's splash art the Tokyo Bunka Kaikan, or in English the Tokyo Metropolitan Festival Hall is mentiond.

So the Tokyo Bunka Kaikan is pretty femouse as well. It's located in Japan, it was designed by Kunio Maekawa, it opend in 1961. If by any chance Satsuki's splash art mentiond a defrent building, then I'm sorry. I used a picture translates program.

On Melania's garment's splash art the Royal Opera House is mentiond.

The Royal Opera House is in England. It's building is also home for the Royal Ballet, besides the Royal Opera. It opend it's doors in 1732, but the original building got distroyd in a fair in 1808, then it got rebuilt, and opend it's doors in 1809. The original architecture was disgned by Edward Shepherd, and the rubulding was done and disgned by Edward Middleton Barry.

And 37's garment mentions the Theather an der Wien.

Okey. This was a lot more harder. I searched and this was the conclusion I come to. When I wrote "Wiedner Theather in Wien" that was among the other theathers in Vienna, that it shown, and it had the more similar name. So if I'm wrong, please feel free to corect me. So the Theather an der Wien, opend it's doors in 1801, it was disgned by Franz Jäger, in empirer style.

the story of Holland The 57½ million square miles of the earth would seem to most people a generous enough gift of nature and they would be content to leave it at that--but not the Dutch. With some ten million people crowded into an area no larger than tiny Massachusetts and Connecticut combined, they have boldly taken over where nature left off. With the aid of dikes and barriers of sand dunes they have added several million more acres of land to their country. More than half of the nation's population lives below sea level.

The earliest history of these people begins in about 55 B.C. when Julius Caesar, during his campaigns, found this area populated with Celtic and Germanic tribes such as the Belgai, Batavi, Frisians and Saxons. In 15 B.C. under Augustus, the territory was brought under Roman rule. During the third century a powerful Frankish tribe conquered many of the earlier tribes and the Frankish language (the official Dutch language now spoken in Holland) was generally adopted. The Franks accepted Christianity, but it remained for Charlemagne (742-814) to subdue the Frisians and Saxons and force them to accept this new religion.

Under feudal rule cities arose and petty disputes among the rulers enabled these cities to establish some measure of home rule. In the 15th century under Burgundian rule The Netherlands (which until 1830 included Belgium and Luxemburg) gained "The Great Privilege," a charter which greatly curtailed the sovereign's power in local matters. Then by marriage the country came under Spanish rule. The people rebelled and the long war which the Dutch waged against Spain (1468-1648) finally brought financial ruin to the Spaniards. Having freed themselves of Spanish restrictions, the Dutch grew rich with trade during the 17th century and acquired colonial holdings. But a century of decay followed and Holland lost much of its trade and some of its colonies.

In 1795 the country was conquered by the French. In 1815, following Napoleon's downfall, The Kingdom of the Netherlands was formed at the Congress of Vienna. The southern provinces, dissatisfied with this union, revolted, and to avoid a general conflict the great powers allowed them to form the separate Kingdom of Belgium. Luxemburg was lost when Queen Wilhelmina came to the throne in 1890 because its law did not then permit female rule.

During World War I the country remained neutral, but in World War II the Germans invaded Holland. Queen Wilhelmina fled to England to carry on the government-in-exile. Dutch resistance lasted only five days, but the German wholesale, systematic destruction of the country left Holland in ruin. The recovery of this country from the war has been remarkable. The government of Holland, now with Queen Juliana as its sovereign, is a constitutional monarchy. Amsterdam is the constitutional capital, but the actual seat of government is in The Hague. The kingdom includes the Netherlands Antilles, Surinam and the western half of New Guinea. Rotterdam, located at the mouths of the two great rivers, the Rhine and the Meuse, is the biggest port in the world next to New York. Amsterdam, the largest city in Holland, rivals Antwerp as diamond-cutting center of the world. A network of 50 canals carves the country into hundreds of tiny islands which are connected by 400 bridges. Bicycles are the major form of transportation and outnumber cars about six to one. This low, flat land has a maritime climate—cool and damp—and strong winds blow steadily from the North Sea. Holland's natural resources are limited and the country imports many raw materials which are processed into finished products for export. Because of its geographical position and excellent harbor, Holland has developed into a great trading, transporting, and brokerage nation.

To foreigners Holland is symbolized by tulips, windmills, picturesque costumes and the quaint story of a boy with his finger in the dike. Tulips they have (and hyacinths) in countless numbers and the sale of bulbs is a serious and thriving business. The windmills are gradually being replaced by steam or electrically driven pumps. There are towns where local costumes are worn, but for the most part the Dutch are as up to date in their dress and ideas as any country on earth. As for the fanciful, fictional tale of the boy who held his finger in the dike all one night and saved his people from the sea, the Dutch--out of politeness to tourists—have erected a statue in his honor. But, as one official puts it, "Polite we are but quaint we ain't."

Sarah Morris (b. 1967 in Sevenoaks, Kent, England) lives and works in New York City, USA. Morris studied at the Brown and Cambridge Universities and participated in the Independent Study Program of the Whitney Museum of American Art. She is best known for her large-format raster works.

InvestiRay – Betrug? – anwaltliche Unterstützung

Unter der Domain investi-ray.com bietet die Internethandelsplattform InvestiRay unterschiedliche Handelsgeschäfte an. Anleger könnten mit Währungen, Kryptowährungen sowie mit Differenzkontrakten (CFDs) handeln. Als Kontaktmöglichkeiten werden unterschiedliche Niederlassungen in England, Österreich und in Singapur angegeben sowie u. a. eine englische und eine österreichische Telefonnummer und zwei Emailadressen.

Die Emailadressen lauten: support@investiray.finance und info@investiray.email.

Laut dem Internetauftritt der Firma InvestiRay existiert in Österreich unter der Adresse: Wagramer Strasse, 1220 Vienna, eine Niederlassung. In England will die Firma InvestiRay unter der Adresse: 21-24 Millbank, London SW1p 4DU, eine Niederlassung betreiben und in Singapur unter der Adresse: 24 Raffles Place, Singapore 048621.

Im vorliegenden Fall kann nicht ausgeschlossen werden, dass die Firma InvestiRay betrügerisch agiert. Hierfür sprechen verschiedene Punkte.

Recherchiert man beispielsweise zu den seitens der Firma InvestiRay angegebenen Niederlassungen in Österreich und in England, so stellt man fest, dass die Firma InvestiRay weder in Wien noch in London eine Niederlassung unterhält. Sie wirbt folglich mit nicht existierenden Niederlassungen.

Unabhängig davor warnte mittlerweile die österreichische Finanzmarktaufsicht (FMA) im Rahmen einer Investorenwarnung vom 18.07.2024 vor dem Abschluss von Geschäften mit der Handelsplattform InvestiRay. Die FMA stellte fest, dass der Anbieter keine Berechtigung hätte, konzessionspflichtige Bankgeschäfte in Österreich zu erbringen. Es wäre dem Anbieter daher der gewerbliche Handel auf eigene oder fremde Rechnung (§ 1 I Z. 7 Bankwesengesetz) nicht gestattet.

Die Firma InvestiRay verfügt jedoch nicht nur in Österreich über keine entsprechende Genehmigung, die dringend erforderlich ist, um Handelsgeschäfte anbieten zu dürfen, sondern auch in anderen Ländern ist keine entsprechende Genehmigung vorhanden. Würde die Firma InvestiRay über die erforderliche Genehmigung verfügen, dann würde sie im Rahmen ihres Internetauftritts die ausstellende Finanzaufsichtsbehörde benennen, die ihr die entsprechende Genehmigung erteilt hat und die Registrierungsnummer, unter der sie seitens der Behörde registriert wurde. Sämtliche vorgenannten Angaben fehlen.

Auch in England erteilte die englische Finanzmarktaufsicht (FCA) der Firma InvestiRay keine Genehmigung. Ebenso wenig liegt eine Genehmigung seitens der deutschen Aufsichtsbehörde (Bundesanstalt für Finanzdienstleistungsaufsicht (BaFin)) vor, über die Handelsplattform InvestiRay Handelsgeschäfte anzubieten und für deutsche Anleger Handelsgeschäfte abzuwickeln. Die Firma InvestiRay und deren Verantwortliche verstoßen deshalb, soweit sie in Deutschland mit deutschen Anlegern Handelsgeschäfte machen, gegen das Kreditwesengesetz (KWG).

Unsere Erfahrungen aus der Vergangenheit zeigen, dass man dringend davon Abstand nehmen sollte, mit unregulierten Handelsplattformen, wie der Firma InvestiRay, Handelsgeschäfte zu tätigen. Entsprechende Handelsplattformen, wie die Firma InvestiRay, sind meist unseriös, wenn nicht sogar betrügerisch. Dies belegen die Erfahrungen unserer Kanzlei mit einer Vielzahl von unregulierten Handelsplattformen.

Unsere Kanzlei hat in den letzten Jahren circa 1.000 Anleger gegenüber einer Vielzahl von unregulierten Handelsplattformen vertreten. In vielen Fällen handelte es sich um betrügerische Handelsplattformen. Es lag in allen Fällen keine Genehmigung der jeweils zuständigen Aufsichtsbehörde vor.

Auch ein rechtsverbindliches Impressum sucht man auf der Homepage der Firma InvestiRay vergeblich, obwohl ein solches Impressum gesetzlich zwingend vorgeschrieben ist. Anlegern wird nicht mitgeteilt, wer die vertretungsberechtigten Organe der Firma InvestiRay oder einer entsprechenden Betreibergesellschaft sind. Auch die erforderlichen Angaben, z. B. unter welcher Gesellschaftsform die Firma InvestiRay betrieben wird, fehlen.

Anleger, die bei der Plattform InvestiRay investiert haben bzw. ihr Guthaben nicht ausbezahlt erhalten bzw. Verluste erlitten haben, und Möglichkeiten zur Schadenswiedergutmachung wissen wollen, können sich gerne an die Kanzlei Engelhard, Busch & Partner wenden.

World's first high-resolution brain phantom developed with a 3D printer

Altöttinger im Münchner Büchersalon: 3.6.23

Albert Pöschl, aka "da Pöschl", spielt allein ein experimentelles, elektronisches dubset (hier zum schauen und hören: https://www.echokammer.de/EPK091/) und Noe Noack liest dazu über eine weihrauchgeschwängerte Jugend in Altötting: Punk und der Katholizismus. Im Anschluss beide vereint an den turntables. da Pöschl&Noe Noack im Büchersalon 03.06.23. Eintritt frei. Einlaß 19.30 Uhr, Beginn 20.00 Uhr.  Albert Pöschl und Noe Noack haben sich 1979/80 in Altötting kennengelernt und in den frühen 80ern gemeinsam in Punk Bands gespielt. In den 90er Jahren bis in die frühen 200er traten die beiden gegen den Zeitgeist an und bürsteten die Technik in Pöschls Giesinger Studio, der „Echokammer“ gegen den Strich. Alben zwischen Elekto-Punk, Dancehall-Reggae, Jungle und Dub entstanden so. Mit ihrem Lions Den Sound System beschallten sie Müncher Clubs und gingen auf Tour in Deutschland, Österreich und der Schweiz. Für die Hörspielredaktion des Bayerischen Rundfunks mixten die beiden eine legendäre Fußballreportage von Günther Koch als Dancehall-Reggae. Während Albert Pöschl nach wie vor in unzähligen Bands und Projekten als Musiker, Produzent und Labelbetreiber aktiv ist, macht der Journalist Noe Noack weiterhin Radio bei Bayern 2 Zündfunk und Nachtmix. Begonnen hat er 1988 beim ORF in Wien und er war 1996 auch kurz bei der BBC in London. Für den ORF, BR und ARTE stand er auch vor und hinter der Kamera. Noack liest und erzählt im Büchersalon über eine weihrauchgeschwängerte, prägende Jugend in Altötting. Punk und der Katholizismus prägten auch sein Punk Fanzine(Fan-Magazin) „TILT“(„Ich hatte Glück: Mich haben der Stadtpfarrer und der Kaplan an der richtigen Stelle angefaßt�� Feinde! – wie sehr habe ich euch geliebt! Ohne euch wären ich sang-und klanglos in der Pubertät versandet.). Punk,Reggae und Sport und die damit verbundenen Abenteuer und Reisen durchziehen die Texte. Die 80er, 90er, ein Leben teilweise wie im Rausch. Als rasender Reporter bei der Fußball EM 1996 in England, durchtanzten Nächten bei Raves, zwischen Interviews, Live Auftritten, Reggaekonzerten und als Reporter in Wimbledon. 40 Tage und Nächte und kaum Schlaf. Es mußte böse enden. Bitte schon mal den nächsten Termin vormerken: Eine musikalisch-literarische Soiree mit Florian Kienzle & Tim Webb, Sonntag der 18. Um acht Uhr aufgestanden, ach Claude, französische Nachrichten. In der Untergrundbahn war gestern ein Mann, der schaute nie auf, der hatte ein zerstörtes Gesicht, sah aus wie Franz Morak, noch schöner, zeichnete in ein winziges Mäppchen, machte ganz winzige rote Strichelchen. Zum Graben, im Ubahnschacht kam Armin zu mir her, gab mir die Hand, war ganz lieb, was hat er denn? Will er sich entschuldigen? Wir haben auf Alexa gewartet, gingen in die Konditorei Janele in der Herrengasse, hätten dort die Gruppenarbeit machen sollen, sind aber nicht dazu gekommen, haben nur übers Theater gesprochen.

In die Hauptvorlesung, ich war mit Alexa auf der Galerie, sie ist sehr nett, es war lustig. Wir haben noch das THEATER HEUTE angeschaut, da war nämlich noch einer, der hat mindestens zehn Bücher mitgeschleppt, so schwarz Eingebundene, der hatte auch das THEATER HEUTE mit. Danach kaufte ich mir wieder eine Fleischkässemmel, habe jetzt noch dreißig Schilling. Bin dann zum Burgtheater gegangen (vorher war ich noch in der UB, wollte mir das THEATER HEUTE anschauen, aber es dauert bis Montag, bis es ausgehoben wird), habe den Programmzeitel gelesen, REIGEN, da sprang eine Frau von der Treppe, sie war sehr schön, hatte graue Strähnen im Haar, sie sah aus wie Erika Pluhar und vielleicht war sie es auch. Hat mich erwartungsvoll angelacht. Ich ging in den Volksgarten, da war sie wieder, blieb stehen und schaute ein paar Leuten oder den Vögeln zu. Da sind ja jetzt viele Rabenkrähen und Möwen. Bin ein Stück neben ihr hergegangen, es war so seltsam, ich wagte nicht, sie anzusehen. Ich ging zur Nationalbibliothek und wieder zurück, wusste nicht, ob oder ob nicht. Ging aber in den Zeitschriftenlesesaal und habe jetzt endlich die THEATER HEUTE Hefte, die neu Erschienenen, gefunden.

Zur Schlickgasse, ich las die TRILOGIE DES WIEDERSEHENS und GROSS UND KLEIN, einer kam zu mir her, sagte mir, dass er das Stück in England gesehen hätte, mit Glenda Jackson. Dann kam Maria, natürlich wieder zu spät. Ich begleitete sie bis zum Bahnhof Wien Mitte, wir aßen Mandarinen, von ihr.

Zu Hause kochte ich mir Nudeln, suchte mein linguistisches Wörterbuch, fand es wieder nicht. Wo kann es denn nur sein?! Las ein bisschen im THEATER HEUTE vom September, hörte die Nitsch-Cassette. Schaute Photos an und las TRILOGIE DES WIEDERSEHENS bis zum dritten Teil, für morgen.

Gnädiger Herr also would've just been really unwieldy for a thing Jeeves says constantly, tbf. But I had never heard of that honorific at all, that's really interesting! And you make a good point about what a good translation ought to achieve! Because yeah, they are still supposed to be English, you want them to have English vibes, and at a certain point trying to translate everything will break the immersion. (it's interesting to see how far translators go with this sort of localization! For example, there's this German musical, Rebecca, that's based on an English book, and it's still explicitly set in England, but there's a scene where the main character meets her sister-in-law for the first time and the sister-in-law addresses her with Sie, but then self-corrects to du. I don't know if that would break immersion for anyone, but I'm certainly not complaining about it because I love that shit) However, I will say that Herbert Werster, ansässig in Wien, früher Erbe des Edlen von Dingsdibumsdi aber 1919 habens den Adel abgeschafft, sounds like a very serviceable Austrian AU version of Bertie! It actually works pretty well, since if the Adel were abgeschafft in 1919, that kind of coincides with the declining wealth and influence of the British aristocracy that had already started when Wodehouse began writing Jeeves stories (one of the later books, Ring For Jeeves, actually goes into this decline quite a bit!)

Yeah, I know exactly what you mean with the older translation preserving the literal meaning but losing the spirit! So much of the charm and comedy of Wodehouse comes from not just the meaning of words he chooses, but the SOUND of them and the RHYTHM they have with the surrounding words. The image of someone getting off a mark like a scalded cat is pretty funny, sure, but the structure of that sentence matters too. "Get off the mark, on the other hand, like a scalded cat, and your public is at a loss." The way the sentence is four short clauses sort of chopped together makes the language feel more. I don't even know how to describe it. Playful? Nimble? Whereas the old German translation keeps the meaning exactly but writes it out as two longer clauses, which loses that feeling. The original sentence could have been written in a similar way: "On the other hand, if you get off the mark like a scalded cat, your public is at a loss." And you can see that it's not the same! Granted, this point might be undermined by the fact that the new translation also has two clauses, but I dunno. I guess they're just snappier-sounding clauses, and the words are more fun to roll off your tongue.

It is a real shame that German doesn't have a good substitute for "bally." That feels like such an essential building block of the way Bertie speaks! But that's obviously not the translator's fault. They absolutely could've come up with something better than Knüller, though, that's definitely not as good!

I'm glad to hear the translator preserved the callbacks to things Jeeves has taught him before! That is such a cornerstone of their relationship, and it's good to see that there are some translators who take their jobs seriously enough to consider how whatever part they're currently translating fits together with everything else they've translated in the body of work. Rather than just tunnel-vision translating sentence by sentence *cough* German DS9 dub *cough*

this is fun: in the german translation of right ho, jeeves (and all discussion of whether or not to translate wodehouse aside, thomas schlachters übersetzungen sind grenzgenial, theres a reason why theyre published in the suhrkamp verlag, and i genuinely wouldnt have thought it'd work unless you got harry rowohlt to translate them, but it does work and its brilliant, genuinely brilliant - at times a bit bundesdeutsch but it is what it is) - in the german translation of right ho, jeeves (and the one other german jeeves i have read so far as well, and with complete confidence that this will continue) literary references are sometimes translated produktionsorientiert/as they are - shakespeare usually stays shakespeare, theres one rhyme of the ancient mariner that remains rhyme of the ancient mariner, but other times they are translated rezeptionsorientiert and become quotes by german-language poets - in thank you jeeves, "It is a far, far better thing that you do than you have ever done, sir." becomes "Das Opfer,das die Liebe bringt, es ist das teuerste von allen; doch wer sein Eigenstes bezwingt, dem ist das schönste Los gefallen, Sir." (Goethe)

So now in the german translation of right ho, jeeves, we have, s. 89, "Das edle Tier, man weiß nicht wie, versinkt in tiefe Melancholie.", Heinrich Heine, Der weiße Elephant. Works very nicely! looking it up, in the original its "Melancholy had marked him for her own", Thomas Gray, Elegy written in a church yard. Now this is funny as fuck already because despite the rather similar content of these two quotes - someone is melancholy - the one chosen for the german translation refers to an elephant, and this is the same poem that also includes "Er dachte hin, er dachte her; Das Denken wird den Königen schwer.", and when applied to a pongo twistleton, it becomes somewhat cynical, and pongo becomes somewhat pathetic, and jeeves is once again being rude as fuck.

Now, later on, in right ho jeeves, there is "Fahr wohl, o goldne Sonne, Sir, du gehst zu deiner Ruh', und voll von deiner Wonne gehn mir die Augen zu", Text by Friedrich Rückert, set to music by Beethoven. Now. NOW. this wouldnt even be that funny if i had read it in english first, but i didnt, and i am far too amused by this. the original english is "Now fades the glimmering landscape on the sight, sir, and all the air a solemn stillness holds.", once again, thomas gray, elegy written in a church yard. so while in german jeeves quotes a wide variety of stuff, the original makes it seem like he just recently read one (1) poem and now keeps bringing it up, and i am so amused by this
