Great name, great cover. I thought this might be metal or hardcore punk, but this is just great rock n' roll. Heavy Möther II are a Bloomington, Indiana based band that looks to have members (Eddie Flowers and Craig Bell) who have been playing music since the 1970s and have a LONG music history.

Heavy Möther II is the second incarnation of Heavy Mother. This album brings to mind rock in the vein of Stephen Malkmus & The Jicks, Endless Boogie and The Hard Quartet. But, look at the bands represented here: The Gizmos, Crawlspace, Rocket From the Tombs, The Retail Simps, and The Cowboys. "Omnivore" is the only song available, but I've listened to it a lot.

Previous Heavy Mother was released by Feel It Records. Heavy Möther II is being handled by Total Punk Records.

Prison — Upstate (Drag City)

Upstate by Prison

Five lengthy free-form blues/boogie jams sprawl across two LPs in this debut from kinda sorta supergroup Prison. To be specific, at the time of recording, the bands’ members include Sarim Al-Rawi of Jersey’s wild classic-rock-warping Liquor Store; Mike Fellows who once played bass in Rites of Spring; Sam Jayne, now sadly passed, the founder of Love as Laughter; Paul Major from Endless Boogie and drummer Matt Lilly who learned to play just to be in this band. A seasoned, well-above-average conglomeration of talent, certainly. The Travelling Wilburies? Nah.

This is the first Prison album, but the band has been around for most of a decade, convening in the Rockaways to stretch the rock vamp towards infinity. All five of these cuts sport double titles, reiterated hypnotically over scorching drones and eruptive riffs. “Hold up the building!” the group shouts in loose conjunction in the first track, as Paul Major drawls throat shredding-vocal sounds and percussive “hey”s over a slouching, sauntering groove.

These cuts find a through line and stick to it. Don’t look for wiggy guitar solos or extended blur-speed drum fills. The head-changing nature of the proceedings here come from worn-in repetition and primitive, incantatory shouting matches. You can get lost in these cuts. In fact that’s the intention. They move towards some imaginary horizon that recedes with every step.

For that reason, it might be better live. You’re not likely to enter the necessary trance while chopping onions or doing paperwork, the album playing in the background. And if you’re not fully in there, it’s certainly possible to get bored. Every track runs over ten minutes; three of them stretch to more than twice that long. There aren’t a lot of events or notable points of interest either. The effect is cumulative and depends on your willingness to succumb.

And yet, if you can get into the headspace of, say, “Destroy/Cookin’ with Heat,” riding jangly guitars into an obliterating, all-hands yell of “Destroy,” leaving burnt-black trails of krautrock-into-electric-blues ash, a la Sunburned Hand of the Man, a la certain iterations of Oneida, a la Wet Tuna, a la Endless Boogie, it’s worth the trip. These grooves go on forever. Maybe you could go on forever if you caught them.

If it is nightmare before Christmas, I wonder who is the guest character. Usually it's the twisted version of villains like with Rollo and Fellow and Gidel aren't twisted of main villains (Honest John and his companion are more minor) but still counts as villains. Given the movie, Jack is consider to be a bit villainous so likely chance there's a twisted version of him despite being the main character. There's also the fact of Oogie Boogie having a twisted version character which makes me of a possible SSR of someone who is afraid of bugs...you know who?

I think the guest character will at least be someone “iconic” and not necessarily the “biggest bad”. We all know how much Disney LOVES its famous iconography and keeps recycling it in their properties. This in part explains why Honest John and Gideon got twisted instead of the coachman; when you think of Pinocchio, you more readily think of the fox and cat rather than the shadowy figure that is their boss. That makes Tumblr sexyman Jack Skellington as likely as a candidate for bishounen-ing as Oogie Boogie is. I personally love both, so no preference as to who gets to be yassified by Yana 😂 Watch it be twisted Sandy Claws, the mayor, Dr. Finkelstein, or the shitty brat trio instead—

If I had to pick which character I like better, I think I’d probably go with Jack?? It’s the dapper suit— He’s just so effortlessly charismatic and cheery. However, I can’t deny the sick joy that I would feel in seeing a twisted Oogie and all of his creepy crawly innards interacting with our local bug hater Jamil 😈 So yeah, I really want a Jamil SSR for this year.

Leona is pretty much also slated for one since he’s the only dorm leader without a Halloween SSR so far meaning we’ll actually get to hear this bitch sing after he teased us about it in Endless Halloween Night BUT HEY, THIS POST AIN’T ABOUT HIM…

I’m so glad that Nightmare Before Christmas is FINALLY becoming a Halloween event… It’s like, perfect for the holiday. I was upset back when Endless Halloween Night happened and we were denied twisted!Jack or Oogie, and now TWST is making up for that missed opportunity all these years later/j

book 8 foreshadow ⁉️ in MY halloween ?!?! 🤯 more likely than u think ! 😳

When I saw Jack Skellington in the last trailer before the Abema stream for this Halloween, I thought, "Oh. Oh this is going to be good. This is going to be so good for the main story."

I've always had a feeling that we were going to meet the Great Seven somehow, where the characters realize the revisions made in the stories they heard of them vs. what actually happened. After all, Twst brings up more than once the idea of history being revised (especially through Lilia's dialogue). And when the first Lost in the Book event with Stitch came out, that possibility has been made even more open. And now with the way this Halloween is written, it feels like a setup for main story.

Halloween, being Twst's biggest event, is the one event that the Twst writers like to use to foreshadow the main story. Halloween 2/Endless Halloween and Glorious Masquerade have been used as foreshadow to Book 7's events. The latter was also used as a kind of reflection of Book 6's story, so in some ways, GloMas was also a transitory period between Book 6 and 7 (and notably, the GloMas stream was also the same stream where they put out the last trailer for Book 7). However, more importantly, in the context of this post, it is worth noting that Halloween 2 came out when Book 6 was still in its first part. Hence, this Nightmare Before Christmas event foreshadowing a Book 8 while we're far from done with Book 7 is very much plausible and that's why I fully believe this.

Here in the Lost in the Book with Tim Burton's Nightmare Before Christmas event, we have Skully J. Graves, a character whose aesthetic not only matches most with Jack Skellington but also idolizes him, who meets his Halloween idol. This is the first time we see any Twst character meeting not only their idol but the Disney character they are twisted from. This is huge! Considering how distant that Twst is set from the time of the villains and heroes, it had always seemed impossible that such a meetup could occur. But slowly, Twst is revealing to us that there are ways that this could happen.

But here's the truly delicious part: We witness Skully learning what kind of person Jack Skellington really is. To Skully (and the community that he grew up in), Jack is a feared Pumpkin King who values the solemn kind of Halloween. However, the real Jack is someone who wants to celebrate Halloween together with people and—at least in the setting of the event—leans towards a Halloween that is more festive and jolly, akin to his wonder for Christmas in the movie. And this shakes Skully to the core, so much so that we see him lose it in Episode 3. We watch him continuously push for his ideas, to the point that he puts his idol to sleep.

If this is foreshadow to Book 8, will we see our characters face that same disillusion? Is that why we have all 7 Overblot characters in this event? Because let's be real, while everyone has a form of admiration for the villains, those 7 are the ones who idolize the Great Seven the most. For fuck's sake, their OB phantoms are the Great Seven in some form. And more importantly: How will they feel learning that everything they've learned is wrong? Will they be like Skully and start fiascos as they cope with the knowledge that has been unfortunately bestowed on them? Or will they grieve for a bit before recovering quickly? Will they, like Skully, start aligning with the opposite side (Skully aligning with Lock, Shock, and Barrel and consequently, Oogie Boogie)? Or will they stay on the same camp, just with more wariness?

But once they get past that, what then will they do? What measures will they take to learn more deeply about the huge historical revisionism that occurs? Will they even do something about it? Where do we play in as the MC that receives these dreams about the stories that did happen?

Something that I do want to bring up is, how do they even meet the Great Seven? One could say, oh they could get sucked into another book, but for characters so grand and worshipped, it feels too little to do something like that. Besides, unless they do something different for the ending of this event, they will come out of the book, not remembering a single thing. Book 7 allowed us to peer into Lilia's past—which felt unreachable—through his dream. Is there a possibility that Malleus might use his unique magic? To peer into someone's dreams about the Great Seven?

... To peer into our dreams?

But imagine if somehow, the Great Seven were alive again and about to wreak havoc in modern Twisted Wonderland. How would they even be revived? I have an old theory about this where the 7 Overblots are used for it. Of course they are just theories made 4 years ago, but it remains as something that haunts me, especially when Idia outright states that someone has to be behind the OBs. We have yet to learn either what occurred between Crowley and Idia's parents in Book 6.

As an end note, it is very intriguing to see where Twst is going. I'm very excited how the main story will turn out from here, and what will happen once we get past the last dorm's arc.

Hehe this is actually a One Piece/Mummy AU, the story of The Mummy retold with One Piece characters but with necessary changes to the story of course. It's Zolu and I wanna thank you, getting this ask made me reread a scene I have written for this and I'm more determined than ever to finally get this off the ground!

Zoro squints against the unforgiving Egyptian sun. There are people standing in front of his cell. A man with blonde hair and a prominent scar on his face and a black haired man with freckles that, for some reason, has no shirt on. Zoro almost snorts. That's a recipe for an epic sunburn but whatever, not his problem.

The two of them are bickering with the prison warden, throwing Zoro uneasy looks from time to time. There is also a young woman with hair so red it looks orange in the sun. She is standing a bit to the side, arms crossed, trying to act as if she is bored out of her mind. But Zoro can see the way her gaze is fixed on the execution platform and the noose idly swinging in the wind.

There is also that fucking clown, Buggy. The one that stole from him and got him into this mess.

“You!” he growls and is gratified when the guards standing behind him take a step back even though his ire wasn't even directed at them. The actual target of his bloodlust pales and then tries to cover his nerves up with a high pitched laugh.

“No hard feelings, eh, Roronoa? You lost that key fair and square.”

“And the second I get out of here I will cut your throat. Fair and square.”

Zoro knows that he looks absolutely feral, dirty and still bloody from a recent fight. He must look like the demon they love to call him. The two men and the warden stare at him and the girl squints at him from the corner of her eyes, her shoulders tense. The clown looks like he is about to piss himself and Zoro loves it, loves that even behind bars with shackles around his wrists and his swords locked up in the warden's office he can strike fear into his enemies.

Except that there is suddenly someone else crouching down in front of his cell, so close he fills Zoro’s entire field of vision. A young man with a straw hat and a small scar right under one of his eyes. Zoro doesn't understand how he could have missed him until now. The eyes are dancing and his smile shines bright like the sun. He is definitely smaller than Zoro in stature but something about him feels endless. Vast like the sea Zoro hasn't seen in years.

“So cool!” the man with the scar says and he leans even closer, close enough Zoro can smell his breath. It inexplicably smells like the sea. The dust and the grime of the desert suddenly feel far away even though Zoro is kneeling right in it, bleeding right into it from a wound that hasn't healed yet.

One of the men interrupts his discussion with the warden to shout a quick “Don't get too close, Luffy.”

Luffy subtly rolls his eyes and doesn't move. Zoro grins and the man grins back. Sharp. Dangerous.

Zoro leans closer too. “Luffy, eh?”

“Yep. And you are Zoro. Boogy says you know the way to Hamunaptra.”

“Maybe I do.”

Luffy hums and leans his forehead against the bars of his cell, a smirk playing around his lips. The guards at Zoro’s back move as if they want to intervene but ultimately decide to keep out of it. Smart men. “They wanna hang you tomorrow. My brothers are trying to buy your freedom.”

Zoro laughs a little and delights in the way Luffy's eyes widen with curiosity. “How nice of them.”

“Hm. They are the best. Sabo really wants to find that mystery place.” His voice lowers. It feels like they are alone. Their noses are almost touching through the bars. “Will you show us the way?”

Zoro exhales. “Let's make a deal. You get me out of here, and I'll be your guide to wherever you want to go.”

And before he can change his mind he surges forward and presses his lips against those of the man in front of him. The kiss is messy, not his best work at all, but hey, his execution is scheduled for tomorrow and he hasn't been intrigued by anyone like this in many many years. The only shots you miss are the ones you don't take.

He can hear the guards scramble forward to restrain him and a distant part acknowledges Luffy's brothers shouting bloody murder so he starts to pull back. Before he can, Luffy grabs his shirt through the bars and pulls him right back in, pressing their mouths harder against each other. As Zoro is finally ripped away by the guards he feels teeth slightly pierce his lower lip, drawing a bit of blood.

The guards pull him backwards towards the door that leads inside and the last thing Zoro sees is Luffy's face, pressed against the bars, eyes on fire and grin almost a little bit too wide, a tiny spot of red glistening in the corner of his mouth.

“It's a deal.”

My SSR Predictions for the next half of the Nightmare before Christmas Event

WHEN I TELL YOU THAT I HAVE A THEORY RELATING TO THE HALLOWEEN SSR CHARACTERS FOR NEXT TIME.

So, considering its the next part of the Nightmare before Christmas and we have the remaining half of our students for the selection.

Looking back at all the other Halloween events, I've noticed a pattern with the SSR selections.

For Terror is Trending, its a second year and two third years combination. One of them being a dorm leader (Vil) And for Endless Halloween, its two second years and a third year. One dorm leader as well (Riddle).

These two events are very close together and I associated them together as a pairing since canonically they happen in one day on Halloween.

Though for the next two events, they sort of parallel each other in terms of their SSR choices. They don't have a shared inspiration IP but they both introduce new characters and settings that exist in TWST.

Glorious Masquerade has two third years and a second year. This is the only case of all of them being a dorm leader. Though differently Playful Land has two first years and a second year. And only one dorm leader here (Kalim).

This isn't involving the fact that these events get original SSR cards for the new characters of Rollo and Fellow and Gidel. (Or in the EN server its Ernesto Foulworth and Gino)

Now these two are a pairing I say concerning the new places and characters that our boys meet. Besides that fact that they came out a year apart from each other.

In JP server, we've had the completion of the Nightmare before Christmas event. Playing out like the Into the Book with Stich event with the book sucking our guys into the story and meeting Jack Skellington and Sally and everyone in Halloween town. But additionally, we get the TWST version of Jack in Skully J.Graves.

(I won't go into the lore of him)

So, my little prediction is that we are going to get a card of him at some point, probably next year during the encore. Similar to how Rollo and Fellow and Gidel's cards happened the next year after their event release.

I'm not the only one who has thought about or predicted the possibility of an Oogie Boogie TWST character coming in since he is the antagonist/villain of the movie. And he will be involved in the next event with the other half of the students.

So I made a shitty table that showed all the cards for each of boys during Halloween.

To summarise the shitty displayed data, the only characters that haven't gotten a SSR card is Deuce, Trey, Jack, Ruggie, Floyd, Epel and Lilia.

The ones that don't have an SR is Kalim, Rook, Ortho and Silver.

While the only two without an R card is Ace, Cater and Leona.

I say everyone would be able to have an SSR if everyone gets two SR and R cards each. So that would mean in another two Halloween events, then everyone would have gotten an SSR Halloween card.

Would does this have to do with my predictions?

This simply just narrows down our list of characters we have up for grabs during the next part. First of though, immediately ruling out Trey as a possibility since he's in Halloween Town.

Also I want to add that the Nightmare before Christmas gang had a first, second and third year as the SSR's. So my predictions are based off the exact grade roster the first lot had.

And I want to consider the setting of Christmas Village that might play into why certain characters are chosen. Considering its a snowy setting I immediately think of Jack or Epel as the candidates for the first year slot since they are quite associated with the snow.

Jack because he grew up in a more cold environment and he enjoys snowboarding. Epel meanwhile has the Harveston event as sort of the TWST equivalent of a Christmas event. I don't think Deuce would be considered because he isn't associated with the setting that well. (But if I'm wrong then oh well...)

For the second years we only have Floyd and Ruggie to consider. This is a big 'what if' scenario for these two. I think Floyd would be most likely to be chosen because the Octotrio is from the coral sea and they said in Chapter 4 that it gets pretty cold for them during the winter break.

THE THIRD YEARS ONLY HAVE LILIA AS A CANDIDATE. Purely because Rook and Cater already had their SSR's and Lilia would have a bloody blast in Christmas Village.

Predicting the SR and R's are a lot harder because its just chance. But I think Cater and Ace should get an R card since they don't have a lot of event R cards. (Ace has a Tsum and Tapis Rogue and Cater only has the Beans Camo)

Everyone listed for an SR I honestly think would have so much fun in the Christmas Village setting.

I'll be honest here, I haven't watched the Nightmare before Christmas movie. So my predictions for the plot of the event is flawed to shit.

But I think we all know that this event WILL BE ABOSULTELY CHAOTIC, BECAUSE NOTICE HOW WE HAVE BARELY ANY DORM LEADERS AND THIRD YEARS TO WATCH OVER THE REMAINING FIRST AND SECOND YEARS.

In The Forgotten Traveler, Hinata, Axel, and Riku all go to Halloween Town in search of Hinata's Replica, Keres. (Aka Thaanix: name given by the Organization)

Hinata's Replica was overtaken by an artificial darkness and is wrecking havoc to every world she goes to. She was holed up in Oogie Boogie's abandoned fortress, her excess darkness creating unstable creatures.

As a Replica, Keres possessed the ability to absorb others'power. Inside Oogie's fortress, she gained the magic to manipulate dreams. That power formed into a creature causing hallucinations and nightmares.

Axel, Riku, and Hinata battled the creature, ultimately defeating it. However, as it disintegrated, a darkness burst out of it and rendered each of them unconscious and trapped in nightmares. The creature they believed to be defeated was actually split between their minds, absorbing their power and strength. Each of them had to traverse their personal nightmare, facing hidden memories and past mistakes, all the while becoming weaker.

Hinata's nightmare found her back on Kamino, the cloning facility and hidden Organization lab that experimented on her and created Keres. Here is an excerpt from Chapter 21 of Forgotten Traveler of Hinata's nightmare:

The first thing Hinata heard was the rain.

Heavy drops pelted against metal and glass. Thunder rumbled in the distance. The floor beneath her was cold and smooth, somehow familiar. Hinata's fingers curled against the ground, her eyes opening to a blurred sight. A cell, pristine and untouched, the door wide open. She blinked rapidly, taking in her surroundings. In the corner jutted out a metal slabbed bed. Over it, a thick window where captors could gaze in at test subjects..

Hinata pushed herself to sit up. "Kamino…?" she asked, her voice echoing in the empty cell.

No one gave her an answer. The sound of her voice filled the room, then there was nothing. Just the rain. She swallowed thickly, her heart pounding in her ears. Her legs faltered as she moved to stand and she stumbled into the doorway. The hall outside her cell was just as she remembered. A door to the left blocked her way, leaving only the right path open, where she could follow it and go around the corner.

She staggered forward, her steps heavy and her body leaning side to side as if she were inebriated. Her head was swimming, her sight blurring in and out. She braced herself against the wall and ran her hands over her face, trying to break through the haze.

"This feels real," she muttered, looking down at her hands as she opened and closed them. Her nails slightly dug into her palms and she could feel the sensation, as well as the humidity from the storm and the chill in the stagnant air. "Is this really a dream?" she asked.

Keeping a hand on the wall, she went further down the corridor, her footsteps reverberating around her. Turning the corner, she saw long rectangular windows lining the walls. One window curved with the hall, showing a glimpse of the raging storm outside. The rest were, as Hinata remembered, windows that looked into separate labs. Some classrooms, others experimental rooms for test subjects. However, each one was blackened and dark, with no door to go inside. Hinata's only option was to continue going forward.

She passed four sets of windows before a door hissed shut behind her. With a start, she spun around, seeing the hall disappear behind metal. "Alright, no backtracking," she noted, turning back. "Wait… What?"

She could have sworn the hall continued forward with endless windows on either side. Instead, she stood beside an open cell. A curved window overlooked the storm outside, leading around the corner to the left. It looked exactly the same as before.

"It's a dream." She shook her head and continued walking, accepting the change despite the way her heart rate accelerated. "Has to be."

Her balance came easier, her steps more pronounced. She turned the corner, sure enough seeing the same hall she had before. Nothing had changed. Past four sets of windows, the door hissed shut behind her and Hinata found herself right back at her cell.

"Just keep moving forward, I guess."

Her fingers wrapped around her locket, tracing the indentations. Turning the corner, the first darkened window to her left lit up, immediately catching her attention. Rather than a lab, a dusty old room appeared on the other side. Cobwebs hung from the corners and old furniture was piled on the floor, pushed back against the wall to make space in the center.

Hinata's hand pressed against the glass. "The old sparring hall," she murmured. "Just before we started lessons there… But why?"

Light poured into the room as a door out of sight swung open. A young Hinata came into view, spinning around excitedly as Lea and Isa followed her in. Their lips moved, but Hinata couldn't hear their words. She remembered the day though.

Neither Lea or Isa had been impressed with the old shack, even though Hinata insisted her dad was going to have it renovated so they could start sparring lessons like they always talked about. The three of them laughed together and Hinata smiled. A bittersweet warmth filled her chest. Then a silhouette appeared in the doorway, its shadow casting over the three of them, and the window darkened as if it were a snuffed flame over a candle.

Hinata's grip tightened over her locket.

Okay, I just want to say that everything is so surreal in this new event being both a Twister Wonderland fan and a Nightmare Before Christmas fan… having said that and since it’s so early, I’m kind of like 50/50 on some theory:

To me, either they are going to play this straight and wholesome with Skully being the misunderstood character being a true twist of Jack Skellington OR either Skully gets obsessed to the point he takes over Halloween and either gets tricked to work with Oogie Boogie or becomes twisted Oogie. My money is that it’s not as wholesome as we think it is, but what do you think?

As a Twstie and also a fan of The Nightmare Before Christmas though I do think Jack’s feelings for Sally are abrupt, I agree that this is very surreal 😭 even moreso because I initially thought Endless Halloween Night was going to be our Nightmare event (with the kidnapper being a twisted!Jack)…

I really REALLY hope they don’t play it straight and wholesome… Halloween events are the ONE major instance where the Twst event stories try to take themselves seriously/tackle larger issues and I don’t want that to just go away 💀 I think it’s fine to have Skully be misunderstood or play the active villain, so long as he has clear flaws displayed and they tie in well with the themes of the event. Both can also happen because this game is about villains and humanizing them. I’m not picky about how the devs achieve it, all I’m asking for is a cohesive story that’s both fun and says something meaningful.
