tag yourself which emil i lönneberga cringe moment are you i'll start: the time he put a bowl on his head and got stuck, and his dad had paid the exorbitant amount of thirty kroner for the bowl so everyone tried really hard to avoid breaking the bowl so they ended up greasing him and yanking him out to great pain, only for him to put the bowl back on his head and accidentally whack his head on the countertop, breaking the stupid bowl and wasting all three dollars usd his father had spent on it

Astrid Lindgren: This story is set in a little village in Småland.
Film directors: Let's cast people from Stockholm! I'm sure we can train this five-year-old to speak with a convincing Småland accent.

Just a reminder; both Tove Jansson and Astrid Lindgren read their own books (in Swedish) many years ago and some of the recordings are on Spotify! 🌸

talking about nordic child media, lets talk about how damn adhd all the kids in astrid lindgrens books are
conservaties currently often talk about “wanting the world of astrid lindgren”. and in particular, the word of emil in lönneberga. that they claim is their ideal. this shows CLEARLY that they have clearly not seen any astrid lindgren works sense they were like 5 years old because like
the majority of astrid lindgrens books are about children who feel suffocated in the early 20th century swedish society, who are sourounded by authorive adults, and the books takes the children perspective and i like:
they should be allowed to have FUN! even though society they live in is awful!
what i am saying is. astrid lindgren doesnt love the society described in emil in lönneberga. she loves her father, who btw is emil. she wants him to be able to find joy, despite the authortive and strict society he was born into.
but like. they way she describes emil father forexemple. that is not an ideal.... like quite obvously.
also that adhd kid emil got som adhd to the max
what i am speaking about is not like. a hidden message. it is literally discussed in the tv series opening song. listen to the lyrics.

Now listen, dear friends
And I shall tell you
What a boy did
It was a long time ago
But surely the memory remains
Among the lovely valleys of Småland
Katthult, in Lönneberga
Was the boy's home
Oh Jesus, what a child he was
You can't think of anyone that's worse
And he carried the name of Emil
Yes, his name was Emil
 Now listen, dear friends
And I shall tell you
What our Emil did
One day in the lovely month of May
Up in the flagpole of Katthult he raised
His little sister
And then he calmly observed her
Hanging there tilted
Oh Jesus, what a child he was
But Ida was pretty pleased
Because no one else has been floating
On an high altitude like this
His next frolic was when
He shoved his head
Into the vegetable soup and
Then got firmly stuck
 In his mother's soup bowl
Because his ears were too big
There was nothing else to do but to travel
To doctor with haste
Oh Jesus, what a child he was
Don't you also think
That the one who's only belonging is a soup bowl
Doesn't want any boys in in it
Now listen, dear friends
Surely I can't tell you about
All the awful frolics that
Our Emil was up to
But he got to sit in the carpenter shed
For all his days
Think about that, children, if
You hear this song
Oh Jesus, what a child he was
In all of Småland there wasn't
Anyone as wild as Emil
And nowhere else

Asoue kids as Astrid Lindgren characters
Because I am a swedish person that grew up with Astrid Lindgrens stories I have to put them into asoue, the end.
Violet - Madicken. Madicken is a girl who is quite inventive, and often pretty wild. She once jumped down from the roof with an umbrella, just to see if she could fly. She also once walked on the school roof to prove she was brave to a girl in her class. Plus, she kind of looks like Violet in the book covers. (By the way, Madicken isn’t her actual name. She just wants to call herself that because she hates her actual name, which is ”Margareta” or something).
Klaus - Kalle Blomkvist. Kalle Blomkvist is a boy who is around 12 years old, and together with his friend he has started a little detective club. He also wears glasses and often relates himself to book characters. He just reminded me of Klaus a bit, you know?
Sunny - Skrållan. (For you people wondering how to pronounce that, it’s ”skro-lan”). Skrållan is a toddler that, while she is pretty small, is smarter than she looks. She has a thing for going missing a lot of the times, just because she sees something, and therefore decides to go to it. She once woke up super early and went out while the others were asleep, to investigate a house she saw, and then she just walked in uninvited there. She is maybe is not 100% like Sunny, but there are some similarities (and yes, her actual name IS Skrållan. I don’t know anyone who wants to name their kid this, but her parents apparently did.)
Quigley - Rasmus. Rasmus is an orphan boy who escapes the orphanage to instead hang out with a homeless man, who teaches him all about freedom and how to make the best of life. It sounds more weird than it actually is, I promise! Rasmus just reminded me of Quigley, since Quigley was alone a lot, then Jacques came and was kinda like a mentor to Quigley. Of course Jacques wasn’t a homeless man, but you know, still.
Isadora - Pippi Longstocking. Okay. I thought about this a lot. I thought Madicken was similar to Isadora too, but the more I thought of it... Pippi. Pippi does whatever she pleases, and is both strong and very one of a kind. Isadora seems more well-behaved than Pippi, but I have always felt this chaotic nature of her. I feel like if Isadora wanted, she would dip her face in a cake and do cartwheels all around the house, as well as living alone in a villa with a monkey and a horse
Duncan - Emil of Lönneberga. Emil is a mischevious boy, though many times he doesn’t really mean to cause so much trouble. One time he tried to see if his head could fit in the soup bowl and his head got stuck. Another time he lifted his sister up in the flag pole because she wanted to see the view, but Emil got in so much trouble for it. Now, Duncan is not that troublesome, but he does have plans that end up in chaos (like dressing up as the Baudelaires and ending up getting kidnapped).
Fiona - Ronja the robbers daughter. Ronja is a girl who spends her days wandering the forest, swimming in the lake and practising shooting with a bow. Her father is a well-meaning man that can be obnoxious and annoying at times, much like Fionas stepfather, Captain Widdershins. Only that, Ronjas father is a robber and they live in a big castle in the woods with his twelve men and wife, so they are more or less barbarians rather than owners of a submarine. Ronja is otherwise very headstrong, just like Fiona.

I remember this from when I was a child ! Fun show 😁
Tumblr media
The one and only live-action Pippi Longstocking as far as I'm concerned
Tumblr media
An idol to me as a writer and a human being believing in equal rights.

Lovely feeling, being invited to another world...

Ah ! I wanted to clean like this when I was little... Until I discovered that ice skating is REALLY HARD and falling on your bottom hurts.
Tumblr media
"free as a bird
Free as a bird
And now it's like something's calling "come" in my loony vagabond life"
Ah... Such a good movie
Tumblr media
Oh, the taste of sugardrink (sw: sockerdricka) will forever be connected to this mischiveous little lad from southern Sweden.
Tumblr media
Interesting edit...
Tumblr media
I seem to detect a slight bias toward a certain red-haired, strong girl who tries before she believes she will fail. A good choice
A+

Someone suggested that Jaskier should have a theme song each detailing Geralt's Adventures each episode, and that reminded me of the old Emil of Lönneberga TV show.
So now I can't get rid of the thought of Jaskier singing "Oh, golly me, what a Witcher he was" to the tune of Hujedamej, and singing about all the messes Geralt gets in.

I was drawn to the old books section at the second hand store. Looked at what was there. This caught my eyes. And I could not believe it was real when I saw the front; ’Practical garden book’ Printed in 1893. It truly is a fashinating book with tips on garden designs, texts about gardens, where trees and bushes should be planted well it really includes everything about the garden. Also recipes. I found the chapter with the wines made of fruit. Could there be a recipe on cherry wine? There is and it feels so unreal. My first rabbit was named Emil after Emil i Lönneberga. A woman asks his mother Alma if she can make cherry wine. By accident, Emil eats the berries and gets drunk. Fun fact: this recipe says the berries have to stand still for 9-10 months umm that’s a long time. I may never be able to make this wine because things are not what they used to be but oh, to see the recipe; it filled me with warmth♥️
