Actually i think i'd like all of you to have a shot at watching Karl-Bertil Jonsson--- here it is with english subs... a true swedish x-mas classic:

The story of 14 year old boy whose greatest idol is Robin Hood-- and boy does it show!

Err... quick warning before hitting play though, this short movie has two scenes i feel deserve a trigger warning, please read those below before pressing play to avoid any unpleasant surprises-- and if this makes makes you too uncomfortable, then please do not press play at all

tw: at the 20:22 mark there's a second of lots of different flags depicted.. one of them the nazi germany flag--- this is not to glorify something awful.. but rather to depict the 1930/40 as it actually were... warts and all one can also read it as a jab at the 'neutrality' of my country at the time... but that's another can of worms

Today is a sad, sad day. Animator Per Åhlin has passed away, 91 years old. He was Sweden’s own Miazaki and his 1989 The Journey to Melonia should be on the watchlist of anyone with an interest in animation.

He gained his place in the heart of most Swedes with an animated short, Sagan om Karl-Bertil Jonssons julafton, shown on Christmas Eve each year sins 1975.

I once met him in a local store and got the opportunity to tell him how much his work has meant to me - in a rather incoherent way I’m afraid.

The picture is an homage to his style I did as a reaction of getting the news a few hours ago.

27: about how many hours of sleep did you get?

For context, i messed up my sleep schedule yesterday with a long nap and i'm trying to correct it now. It worked out decently, i got to bed at around 4 and slept until noon, so about 8 hours. Lol it's not "normal" hours but not bad considering how messed up my sleep schedule could have been after yesterday.

46: favorite holiday film?

i love Sagan om Karl Bertil Jonssons Julafton, which i've even inflicted unsubtitled on non-swedish speakers. It's a nicely animated short film about a kid who works at the post office and steals christmas packages from the rich and gives them to the poor. Great holiday message.

When it comes to english christmas things, i love Dickens' A Christmas Carol. I haven't seen every adaptation yet, including some of the more well-regarded ones, but of the films i've seen I think Scrooge from 1951 is a rather good one.

Nowadays I celebrate every other year with my parents and every other year with my boyfriend's family, so it differs a lot for the actual christmas weekend. But for me christmas starts December 1st as the latest and comes with a lot of traditions for a long time, like wearing christmas sweaters, decorating, listening to christmas music and eating christmas food and snacks. The most important tradition is still being with family and relax.
