The way Elain and Azriel are brushing noses and smiling at one another is so soft and tender. The colors in this, especially the light coming through Azriel's wings, is such a gorgeous touch.

I have two art recommendations for the TOG and ACOTAR fandom. The first artwork does contain major spoilers for TOG: Tower of Dawn, just a heads up :)

The first artwork is this BEAUTIFUL piece of one of my top three book couples by @mellendraws. It’s so hard to find artwork of Yrene and Chaol and I fell in love the moment I saw this piece. Yrene is GLOWING (her hair, specifically, is sublime) and the way Chaol is braced over her makes me feel so many different things. Simply put: they’re stunning.

The second artwork is this GORGEOUS piece of my favorite-potential book couple by @/mftfernandez (insta). I adore the way Elain and Az are looking at one another—the softness in their gazes is everything. The yellow in the background, the detail to their hair, and the ethereal beauty of both of them is simply splendid.

Ahhhhhh ok ok so I've been meaning to get around to reading these series for a hot minute (ACOTAR is sitting on my coffee table, so it's closer to being read than others hahah), and this artwork is STUNNING even with me having no idea who the characters are yet (I'll forget the spoiler by the time I read the book). I love how different both of the styles are, but how tender both moments feel. These are BEAUTIFUL and THANK YOU FOR SENDING THEM IN ALLI!!

Summary - A romantic evening between lovers is interrupted when Cassian and Rhys want to bitch about Sellyn Drake's newest novel. - Azriel x Helion’s Daughter Oc

Warnings - Playful implied smut, references to subby cassian, sexual frustrations

A/n - This is heavily inspired by several theories and fan arts I've seen where Helion’s passion and hobby is writing smut novels. The thought of that lives rent-free in my mind honestly.

Azriel absent-mindedly stroked his mate's thigh as she sat on his lap. They had spent the evening alone, and were winding down before bed.

She was placing soft kisses under his jaw, along his neck, under his ear. Her intentions were clear, and Azriel was more than happy to sate her needs, but a loud knock and drunk laughter made her jump in his lap. Rhysand and Cassian. A shadow whispered before joining in touching its master's mate . "What assholes?" They entered his room, laughing with a flush on both of their faces.

"You," Rhysand pointed to the Day Court Female currently occupying his brother's lap. "Sellyn Drake books. You read 'em?"

Mara's head fell back into Azriel's shoulder as they both schooled laughter. "Once or twice. Normally when I'm already riding Azriel."

"Fuuuuuuuuck." Cassian said as he sat down and smirked. "Tell me more."

Azriel smiled and laughed as he had a shadow shut and lock the door. "I make her read the smutty parts of those books while I'm fucking her. If she can't concentrate she gets punished." 

Mara sighed, "I get punished a lot. Did Nesta pick up the new book?" Rhys and Cassian both scoffed and took a drink of their whiskey. "Feyre as well then?"

The high lord sighed. "She won't even look at me, Rara. She slaps my hands if I try to touch her." Mara hid her face in Azriel's neck trying not to laugh. "You have a secret. You delicious little creature. Tell me."

She and Azriel shook their heads, their cheeks becoming red as they tried to contain their laughter. "Mar! Help us!" Cassian threw his hands up. "Help me mainly. Fuck you." He pointed at Rhys who responded with a hiccup and singular finger in the air. "Even Elain is getting in on this shit, but Lucien just laughs about it."

Huh. Wonder why. Azriel said down their bond. Couldn't have anything to do with…. The secret…

Nope definitely not. Mara sighed. "I'm shocked that you and Nesta don't have the same arrangement as Azriel and I do."

Cassian threw himself on the bed and sighed dramatically, "Nesta isn't into the "punishment" bullshit. Unless it's me. In which case, mommy gets what mommy wants."

She sighed dramatically again. "I was hoping to get what I wanted tonight, but now you two are here." Azriel whined behind his mate. A silent fuck you being sent to his brothers. "They'll get over it. This one is EXTRA spicy though."

Rhys straightened back up, "It just came out yesterday, Mara. Did you finish it already?"

The mates held eye contact and then burst into laughter as she stood and moved to their shared desk. Rhys watched as she opened the largest compartment and pulled out a manuscript. "Of course I did."

Cassian sat back up slowly. "You bitch. Are Drake? Because if you are, you're ruining my sex life." 

She started laughing again, tears falling from her eyes. "I'm not, but Azriel and I know who is." 

Azriel covered his mouth as his brothers looked at him. "I found out unwillingly. That one," he pointed to his mate before beckoning her back to his lap with two fingers, "Told me when she was drunk and swore me into actual secrecy."

Rhys snapped his head to Mara after he recognized the handwriting on the notes she was passing back and forth with the famous smut author. "No."

She squeaked and threw her head back laughing, "Yes."

"No," Rhys said again laughing. "Are you serious?!"

"I am."

"Cauldron boil and fry me." Rhys looked at Azriel. "You knew?"

Azriel nodded. "Can you get me a drink, baby?"

"Whiskey on the rocks?" Azriel nodded at her, kissing her deeply before she left the room. Do not tease him about this, Rhys. It's a passion project, and it makes him happy.

I would never. Rhys responded. This is the 2nd greatest secret I've ever learned. Rhys smirked at Azriel while Cassian stared at the manuscript, trying to figure out what Rhys did.

Mara returned, handing the whiskey to her mate before returning to her spot on his lap. "What's wrong, Cassie?"

The general's face was unreadable. It went between shock, confusion, and amusement. "Does your father know all of our females here read his books?"

Azriel chuckled into her shoulder, placing a gentle kiss on the exposed skin. "He does. Nesta and he have actually spoken about the novellas at length." 

Cassian's hand ran along his face. "So, Helion knows my mate gets hot and bothered while reading his books?"

Azriel nodded. "He takes great pride in knowing he gets the High Lady of the Night Court and Lady Death off nightly." 

Mara giggled into Azriel's shoulder. Rhysand's jaw had dropped slightly. "That- I." The High Lord was rarely lost for words. "Does he know his daughter rides my shadowsinger while reading them?!"

"Yes," Azriel and Mara answered together. 

"My father is still trying to sleep with my husband. Do you really think there's boundaries in our relationship?"

Azriel muttered under his breath. "There should be." 

Mara rolled her eyes. "Cassian, you really should read this one." The brothers all watched as she leaned forward. "Dad gets his stories based on watching couples at his gatherings or stories his friends tell him."

Cassian rose a singular brow. "And?"

Mara just smirked in return. "So you should read it. Chapter 41, Cass." 

Cassian nodded. Standing to leave the room. "I'm going to try to get laid. I'll think about it."

Azriel was smirking at Rhysand who had begun flipping through the drafted manuscript. His star flecked eyes widdened before he left out loud laughter. 

Mara handed Rhys the whiskey she had also brought him. Azriel, raising his glass to Rhys, cleared his throat. "To telling our mates to put their hands on the head board and breaking beds." 

Rhys raised his glass. "To fucking like Gods and being the inspiration to Helion's pen name."

Creator Highlight - Week 16

Welcome to our Creator Highlight Week 16!

Every week, we’ll use this space to recognize the amazing individuals in our fandom who kindly use so much of their free time and creative energy to share their work with us and bring our imaginations to life via writing, art, visuals, and many other creative mediums. 

This week we want to highlight @bloomingdarkgarden, a massively talented creator for fic and story boards within the fandom! Her stories are intriguing, creative, and absolutely stunning, and her story boards have some of the most well-placed pictures to tell the best parts of the story with the right amount of flair.

If you're hosting an event in regards to FICTION, then its not about you anymore. A lot of people who are doing elaingaye ship rhysta and they HATE rhysand.

I literally don't care. If I am hosting an event, what content I allow is up to me. If someone doesn't like it, they can host their own event. Nowhere in the rules of ethics or "hosting character weeks on tumblr" does it say you have to be inclusive to every kink, crackship, or headcanon under the sun.

It is up to the discretion of the person hosting the event to decide. The only time that would be an issue, is if I were to host an Elain event that only accepted Elucien, for example, and then I tried to ban everyone else from hosting their own Elriel or Elain x Tarquin event.

I don't see the issue. If I didn't like the content that comes out of Azriel appreciation week, or if they were banning Elriels... then I'd come up with my own Azriel appreciation week that does accept Elriels.

Literally nobody is stopping you from doing that so why are you still standing here claiming you're oppressed? You're not oppressed if you have full freedom to act how you want and you refuse to utilize it. It's not oppression if your "freedom of speech" is harmful to someone else's personal boundaries.

This is not in any which way or form, an official event. And in fact if it WERE an official event, do you really think SJM is going to sit up here and allow people to submit Elain x Beron and Elain x Tamlin art? Y'all don't even respect her writing or her opinions on these characters, why would you respect a character week hosted by her?

And if you wouldn't respect boundaries set by the author, the literal creator of this fictional work, then why would you stand here complaining that one random person with zero authority is hosting an Elain week where you feel excluded by not being able to submit kinky Tamberlain fan art?

Literally nobody is stopping you from tattooing that ship on your forehead, if you'd like. You sitting here screaming at a mod for not allowing certain ships they are against is not for freedom of speech. What are you protecting? Your right to be an asshole to someone under the guise of freedom to ship whatever fictional ship you want?

Get over it. I don't have any sympathy for your cries of false oppression about a fictional character nobody is preventing you from shipping. Go do your thing... just not in this person's backyard.

I still have yet to read ACOSF and SJM's other series but I have to admit. At one time I hoped soooo badly for an Elriel endgame and saw the potential build up for it etc. But after reading his pov or at least snippets of it . . . . . . . . . . I'M GONNA BE SO DONE WITH THIS SERIES IF ELRIEL IS ENDGAME!!!!!!!!! SJM ruined Elriel for me with his pov, big time. I had a certain idea of what or how I envisioned Elriel and was expecting it for whatever reason. And then when we got his pov it changed everything for me, I ended up hating the very idea of them together (even if their fan art is amazing.)

The author has a habit of making the male characters such horn dogs and it's pretty irritating, Azriel's pov really surprised me. I've always kind of shipped Elucien before I shipped Elriel, but now Hardcore Elucien and occasional Tamlin x Elain shipper. So ya if Elriel somehow happens, I'm gonna be so disappointed and won't read anymore books from this series. And fingers crossed that if we do get an Elucien book and Lucien's pov that she doesn't ruin him by making him too hypersexual like she did Az!!???!!! Like I'm expecting sexual tension and feelings and desires, of course; but I don't want it to be too sexualized that it ruins the pairing, characters and development.

...And Again Into the Light (Elucien)- This is a fic I cowrote with @crazy-ache. After our joint writing adventure where we wrote Dear Lucien, Dear Elain, we wanted to write together again. I suggested we write a horror romance story because I thought it would be a fun co-writing genre because we could leave each other with both spooky and sexy cliffhangers for the other to pick up. And that is exactly what we did. When we write together, we start with a basic idea and structure and we really "yes, and..." the rest of the process. I really like writing horror. It's one of my favorite genres and this was an opportunity for both me and Ariana to play around in that sandbox. And I think we did a DAMN good job at it. I think it's a pretty unique piece too, which is kind of a theme we've had in the projects that we've co-written. We both were really inspired by the idea of Elain and Lucien being trapped in a haunted house together, and what we ended up creating was a interesting exploration of the mating bond (because duh, it's them) on top of all the haunts and scares that were going on.

Kneel Before Me (Elucien) - I wanted to include this one because it was the first fic that came to mind when I read this question. I love this fic because both the inspo and the premise is kind of unhinged for me. This fic was entirely driven by fandom ship war wank. At the time, the new ship war topic of discourse was whether or not Azriel really could defeat Lucien in a blood duel, and the takes were driving me nuts. So, Kneel Before Me was me channeling my rage into art. The premise is Azriel and Lucien spar on the HoW's roof top and Azriel eggs him on into a real fight that tests the theory of who would actually win in blood duel like circumstances, followed by some hot Elucien smut where I might have went a little crazy writing an excessive paragraph long description of Lucien's dick because all of the bat boy obsessions, wing span jokes, and just generally people forgetting Lucien's existence and that he's HOT. And hey, look. I know when I'm cooking and I fucking COOKED with this fic. Even though I did tag it anti-Azriel because I wanted to be upfront that the fic doesn't depict him in a positive light, I've had a lot of Azriel fans read it and confirm for me that they don't actually think it's anti-Azriel at all and they like the twist I incorporated that made it all make sense and feel in character. Because even if I'm being a little cracky, I can't help but want things to make sense for the characters as they are.

Summer Heat (Elucien + Erixius) - This fic is my big multichapter fic that is now turning into a series with the sequel I'll write once I'm done with Pull Me in Deeper. The inspiration was really simple. One of my falling asleep day dreams included Elucien having some fun and awkward flirty moments in awkward and making out on the beach and I was like, "okay I keep thinking about this so I should write it." It definitely is an example of my first outline way underestimated the story it became. I didn't even initially have a plan to have a significant Eric x OC side story but once I created Alexius it really just became an animal of its own. This story I think is some of my best work in that it really spans the spectrum of my skills - comedy, romance, smut, angst, and generally a decent plot. It's the first time I made an OC. I did some new world building. And from experimenting with those the story blew up into something way bigger. I anticipate Golden Visions, the sequel, to be an even longer story which sort of gives you a perspective on how much I was inspired by both of those processes. At its core, I really wanted Summer Heat to be a romantic comedy. And I think it still has that essence but I'm not sure it can really be called that anymore with some of the angst and fantasy world building I built into it changed things. I also tried to write a slow burn for Elucien (and very much not a slow burn for Erixius) which I think I was successful at by my definition of a slow burn lol.
