Creator Highlight #17 - @cauldronblssd

Today we’d like to highlight @cauldronblssd! CB is one of the most welcoming and generous creators in the Elucien community who has given so much to others. She is a talented writer with a wide variety of stories and has also commissioned some of the most gorgeous pieces for Elain and Lucien.

If you check out CB's work, you can find just about any flavor you crave! Whether that is an AU in space, canon divergence, or modern-day spice, she's got both the angst and spice you seek. Not only is she an amazing storyteller, she is also known for leaving some of the most thoughtful comments on AO3 to other authors. She really embodies what the Elucien community is about!

Elain and Lucien have spent the past several years politely avoiding each other. When Elain has a vision about Lucien becoming the High Lord of Autumn, she agrees to accept the mating bond to a male that she hardly knows. Bound by the bond and a couple unexpected bargains, the newly mated couple form an alliance.

Morning Edition

Elain listens to her local public radio station every morning as a way to support her sister, Feyre, a local arts and culture reporter. What starts as casual listening develops into something more when she finally meets the man behind the voice she listens to on the new every morning, Lucien Vanserra.

"Lucien was an NPR reporter, an enthusiast of local politics and an active participant in the fall and spring fund drives. Surely, he couldn’t be a party animal either, with a call time of five AM or something else equally absurd. Still, it had been him who suggested they meet at the last minute. Was this a booty call? Would he still buy her drinks, then?

It seemed a strange move to select your coworker’s sister for such an arrangement, but perhaps she was naive. She’d have to keep her head on her shoulders, even when he spoke to her with that low seductive voice or wore another well-fitted shirt that showed off his expansive chest. Elain squared her shoulders, resolving herself to be firm in her resolution not to go home with him that night."

Elain Archeron lives a quiet life on the Sun Station as a follower of the Nolans’ New Ways. When she is sent on a mission to find wanted man, Vanserra, she crash lands in alien territory.

Creator Highlight #13 - @separatist-apologist

Welcome back to Feysand Creator Highlights!! We want to take a moment to recognize the amazing individuals in our fandom who kindly use up so much of their free time and creative energy to share their work with us!

Today we want to highlight @separatist-apologist! Fandom powerhouse, multi-ship writer, runner of an untold number of side-blogs and events, and one of our favorite Feysands! It’s no secret that separatist-apologist is the gateway writer into fanfic for many people in the fandom, introducing us all to grand romances and a variety of monsters that defy categorization. In addition to being a talented and prolific writer, separatist-apologist has been a part of building the ACOTAR fandom and encouraging new creators for years. 

With over 109 ACOTAR works on AO3, everyone has their own favorite! Whether you want to read classic adventure tales, canon rewrites, modern AUs, monster smut or something a little darker (usually gifted to her beloved TheLonelyBarricade), you will truly never regret a deep dive into separatist-apologists library of works.

I Knew You Were Trouble:

After a disaster on Earth sends humans to live on colonies on different planets, Feyre Archeron's life has become impossibly difficult. The Federation meant to protect and provide for human refugees has abandoned them on a hostile planet that forbids them from hunting and has segregated them from the rest of the population.

When her older sister starts an accidental fire in an attempt to revitalize the barren land, Feyre comes face to face with one of the infamous, dreaded Horde Kings. They strike a bargain- her servitude for her sisters life. Now, trapped in his horde, Feyre has to acclimate to a new life and the demands of the man who took her- and hope she can survive him.

Creator Highlight - Week 12

Welcome to our Creator Highlight Week 12!

Every week, we’ll use this space to recognize the amazing individuals in our fandom who kindly use so much of their free time and creative energy to share their work with us and bring our imaginations to life via writing, art, visuals, and many other creative mediums. 

This week we want to highlight @sarawritestories, a massively talented creator for fic within the fandom. Her stories have romance, intrigue, plot, and fluff, all while being imaginative, creative, and leaving a long-lasting impact. It’s a challenge to write x reader fics that feel realistic and consuming enough, but she hits the nail on the head every single time. Her nominators said the following:

This year's fic: Gay's Still the Word

Redbirdandbluebird23 made the move into writing slashfiction last year after almost a decade writing other fanworks. She mainly focuses on Jaydick, but has plans to introduce platonic Batfam works in the future. It is only in the last couple of years that she figured out she was asexual, so this event has been a great way to explore this in writing. You can find her on Tumblr and AO3.

What drew you to Eris Vanserra as a character?

I like that he dances around the truth and words are his weapons. He’s an enigma. How did he catch Azriel - the shadowsinging spymaster? What truth does he allude to that Mor hides? He’s one of the characters who seems more “fae” than others. I love this quote: “Amid the pink and white blossoms, the cold-faced Autumn Court heir looked truly faerie—as if he’d stepped out of the tree, and his one and only master was the earth itself.” That and there’s fire in his blood.

What do you think are Eris's greatest weaknesses?

I think Lucien is a big weakness for him. At the end of ACOWAR, we can see him look at Lucien with longing as his brother ignores him. For me, Lucien and their mother are probably the reasons why Eris hasn’t acted against Beron openly because they’re not worth the risk of gambling.

Can you give me a name for one of Eris's brothers? And also for one of his dogs?

I’ve named his brothers in past fics as Phelan (meaning wolf), Uther (meaning terrible), and Dolos (meaning deceit). And for his smokehounds: Adja, Vytor, and Safera.

Which SJM series would you give Eris to read and why?

Crescent City so he can empathise with Ruhn and Bryce about an autumnal ruling dad who is just as bad as his own.

Creator Highlight #16 - @shadowisles-writes

Today we’d like to highlight @shadowisles-writes. Shadowisles is a true treasure in the Elucien side of the fandom. She’s both a talented writer and a beloved friend to many. If you get a chance to talk to her, her wit comes through with her quick sense of humor and her top tier takes on every character. 

A true master fic writer, shadowisles has written 44 ACOTAR fics, including 18 Elucien fics! Equal parts sweet and spicy, she will have you giggling and kicking your feet in one fic and blushing in the next.  Her writing is the kind that you can’t peel your eyes away from, whether you’re reading about Elain and Lucien fighting over the best study seat in her academia series or canon Elain following Lucien all the way to the Day Court. Every fic is a treat that leaves you craving more!

After the war with Hybern, Elain is welcome back into Graysen Nolan's estate to marry him. Elated to live the life she dreamed of, Elain learns to glamour herself to fit in among the humans of their village. Unable to keep away on her wedding day, Lucien paces outside until the very last moment he can interrupt to beg her to reconsider, except the scene he walks into is anything but a wedding.

I’m With You 

Without the urgency of war looming over Prythian, Elain begins to question if the Night Court is where she belongs. Her mate travelling at will between courts and the human lands fills her with the longing to accompany him. Except being alone with Lucien in the Day Court means confronting conflicting feelings, which only get more complicated as secrets and threats to her safety emerge.

Or: the one time the lyrics "And if you need a light, I’ll be the match to your candle, my darling," made me daydream about Day Court Elucien for weeks.

Tethered 

Elain moves to university after the semester has already started and finds herself stuck outside in the cold after the fire alarm goes off in her building. Lucky for her, a red haired neighbor is willing to share his blanket, and a lot more than that too.

Creator Highlight #10 - @whyisaravenlike-awritingdesk

Today we'd like to highlight @whyisaravenlike-awritingdesk! With one of the most gorgeous nessian fics in the fandom, it feels wild it took us this long to get to her. Every fic is a masterpiece, though we have our favorites (see them below!).

@whyisaravenlike-awritingdesk's talent is taking the bones of what canon gave us and turning it into something beautiful. Nesta and Cassian never feel more real, more alive, than when they're beneath her fingers.

Begged and Borrowed Time:

To save her sisters from starvation, Nesta married Tomas before Feyre went over the wall. When Feyre returns to ask her sisters for help getting the second half of the Book of Breathings, Nesta is dragged into the conflict above the wall, and brought into contact with a certain Night Court General, who she can't help but be annoyed by and drawn to in equal measure. Stuck in a loveless marriage that no longer serves a purpose, Nesta meets Cassian at entirely the wrong time-- but that isn't enough to stop either of them.

Semper Eadem:

It’s 1575, and Nesta Archeron, lady-in-waiting and favourite of Queen Elizabeth I is trying incredibly hard to forget about the bastard nobleman who, eight months ago, stole her heart before leaving to be a privateer. Now, at the Kenilworth pageant thrown in the queen’s honour, Cassian is back and trying to win Nesta round all over again— but there’s no way she’s going to let him off easy.

Promise:

This began as a one-shot fixing the scene in ACOFAS that made my blood boil: the scene where Cassian walks Nesta home. Here, Cassian realises how much she's hurting and actually does something about it. This will be a three or four part bridge between ACOFAS and ACOSF. Pretty much no plot except fluff and eventual Valkyrie antics, because I would die for Nesta, Gwyn and Emerie.
