Happy Dadrius Day!

Oh, you thought I was only celebrating Huntlow Day today? NOPE! Any Sport in the Storm not only gave us Huntlow, but Dadrius too!

I explore Dadrius much more in my writing rather then art, and honsetly their dynamic is so fun to write, it's not even funny. Highly recommend you check out my Timeskip Watching and Dreaming AU on A03 if you're in to both Dadrius and Huntlow. It's a serveal fic arc exploring the months shortly after the collector is defeated, during the earliest parts of the timeskip we never saw, and heavily focuses on Hunter adjusting to his new life in the post-apocalyptic Boiling Isies and new relationships with old friends, new enemies, current friends, and his adoptive father and uncle.

Anyway, didn't mean to plug myself so much like that, but I earnest really love Dadrius so much. It may have no changed my life like Huntlow did, but I've also met awesome people who have shared the love of Dadrius. And I have to thank ASIAS for giving us not only the best ship in the show, but the best found family in the show.

Re: the adults in polycule ask, what is the Boiling Isles' adults first impression of Camila (and, probably funnier pov, what is Camila's first impression of them)?

This can include Eber and Lilith, although not in terms of eventually being in the polycule strictly speaking

well! i can confidently say that camila's first impression of lilith is going to be "i'm gonna kill this woman." on account of vee having already described her to camila At Length.

conversely, camila would think eber is ADORABLE.

in theory i want to properly fic camila and raine meeting, as well as possibly camila and eda... fortunately for them, neither raine nor darius was involved in the basilisk stuff, so camila is much more inclined to goodwill toward them. ESPECIALLY because they're Literally The Only Two Adults in the castle that luz and hunter have cited as trustworthy.

i suspect her initial impressions are going to be that raine is very sweet and that darius is a drama queen. which are both true.

when it comes to raine and darius's impression of HER, i guess it depends how forthright she is. there's a pretty good chance that she leads with "we have to help those kids," in which case both of them would be like. ah. excellent. An Ally.

eda has technically met camila once already, when camila traded her some human stuff for witch clothes. so her impression is likely to be "OHHHHHH lmfao. it's YOU. the weird lady from the market. who didn't know the emperor had kicked it. wow. in retrospect that's super obvious"

Sleepy Eepy

I imagine this happens after Hunter has a nightmare and gets Darius and Eberwolf to come in and stay with him. No joke I had my dad come in and sleep in my room with me after I had nightmares to an embarrassingly late age... 18. But there's no shame in it! Especially considering the nightmares Hunter must have.

I imagine that Darius runs his fingers Hunter head to help calm him down, then he pats the senestive spot behind Hunter's ears to make him sleep. I also imagine that Eberwolf kneads like a cat on top of Hunter. Then Hunter goes to sleep, and Darius and Eberwolf just don't leave. And that's how this happens. The end.

Blorbo thought that has been plaguing me for days: headcanon that one of Eberwolf’s biggest responsibilities as Beastkeeping Covenhead is to manage conservation and natural resources on the boiling isles. The mental image of Eber basically being the Boiling Isles Lorax. It’s funny to me.

Naturally, given Emperor Phillip “colonization georg” Whittebane Belos, this is a widely looked down upon responsibility and all around thankless job (especially bc Terra is too busy being The Worst and NOT helping). But it also is a field that is closer to wild magic than many of the other covens.

LOVE IT. also eber and terra being on opposite ends of the "responsible for conservation" spectrum has me in Stitches. eber is out here trying to get some random venomous butterfly classified as a protected species while terra is ripping out the one entire field with the one entire plant they can eat like "i think there should be a swimming pool here. oh DON'T look at me like that. get adrian to make you some fake butterflies to chase if you're so fussed about it"

Something about Darius and Eberwolf, two people whos jobs by design had them be isolated and pitted against each other ending up "i'd let the world die to save you" is making me feral. That's not even getting to their basic opposing traits!!! They are so *mwah*!

The Coven Heads apparently backstab each other all the time except for these fucking guys who went and fell in love.

In my head Darius thinks about the incident with Hettie and Osran a lot. He doesn't know what he would do if he had the chance to make a plan, to do more than act on terrified instinct. He doesn't want to think he would deliberately decide to let the Isles be destroyed... but if he tries to imagine himself letting Eber die, there's just. A blank black wall.
