Do any of the characters have a favorite specific animal? Or is it a criteria of traits they like? Do animals like them aswell?

Since I think most people at least have an animal that falls onto their "pretty neat" radar, I'd say the characters would fall into the same trappings! Just some more than others, sure. Maia likes dogs a *lot*, hence quickly approaching the fox in the courtyard before realizing her mistake, and her muttering statement to Gwennebat about Reasons Why Aetherial Orienteering is Neat Actually. ... Animals don't seem to gravitate towards her though. Probably sensing her overall distrust, and well, in the span of about two minutes she landed on one and tried to give it a shiner with a brownie. That one did warm up to her a little (at least, enough to sit down and Enjoy The Free Food), but she's no Disney Princess. Audric would be polite and say finches are his favorite... *if* the ears that matter are listening. If they aren't, he'd admit (it's secretly gryphons.). Between his aetherial aura and his manifest eyes, though, he tends to startle animals.

Pre-veil Lyra would list Magpies as her favorite. They remained a strong contender, but the outveil did not have Chappybaras, which are sort of these tiny six legged Capybaras that look like they got lost on the Potato Bug production line. She's pretty fond of all animals though, and was even out catching critters when she stumbled upon the veil gate. Animals tend to like her in turn, though she can come on a bit strong. Still no disney princess. Audun probably hasn't thought about it in terms of a favorite animal, but he does have a fondness for Elder Elk, not for any real reason beyond having gotten lucky enough to see some grazing when he was young. They're incredibly rare, and often only visible in a spectral form. Animals don't seem to care one way or the other if he's there, but his aetherial aura is a bit opposite Audric's, so it might have enough of a calming effect that they don't run so long as he doesn't startle them, himself. Elias.... yes. His favorite animal(s) all share the same disposition, and he keeps a stoat--an aberrant *and* a weasel, of all things--as a pet for that very reason. Any "certified trash animal" is one he likes. Tends to favor classic woodland creatures that are commonly thought of as pests/vermin, but all are good. Magic, non-magic, living, not-living. It'd be easier to ask what he doesn't like. As for whether or not they like him... I mean. Just look at the boy. He's got a whole critter practically living on him!

I love what they did for Books 6 & 7 writing-wise, I think it was really good at raising the stakes and letting us get to know other characters better (tbh, I wish the first 5 had been more like it lol).

That said...I really miss Adeuce and hope Book 8 brings them back to us 😭

He's never known proper friendship before Flap, but it hasn't been long since the bird came into his life. Those bad habits, those thoughts that even the ppl who are supposed to be his friends and family, have any right to hurt him? Are still there. He's not kidding at all or exaggerating, he fully believes the option of being stoned is there.

Eventho this is cut dialogue, its not the first time Hunter has said sth that concerning cause Any Sport and Eclipse Lake are full of it. Revealing even more how dangerous was the environment he grew up in and what kind of threats might've been used against him, esp by Belos. Or what kind of things he might have witnessed.

thinking thoughts about adhd yuu who's been struggling w/ grades even in their home world and having even more grade-related breakdowns made worse through grim ... grimming.

just imagining riddle and vil (mostly vil) going insane on a yuu who is honest to god trying their best and has been trying their best long before they got there. now, on top of forgetting assignments, not being able to snap out of a task when they know they should be doing their work, esp since you know damn well grim isn't gonna do anything but beg for food. getting overstimulated in the middle of alchemy due to a bunch of noises/sights/smells/textures/etc that they've never seen before and still have to get used to while classmates just look back at a yuu fighting and gritting their teeth not to scream at everyone. make that worse with the stress of dealing w/ everyone's overblots on top of having to feed grim on top of having to feed themselves and to do that they need to work to get money because crowley won't give them shit and managing all that on top of schoolwork that they have to learn a new language for?? mental breakdown. let yuu snap. i will forever love your "yuu fucking snaps" fics because yuu deserves to be mean. as a treat.

oh also: vil getting on yuu's case if they have a skin-picking stim. also azul (pre-ob) trying to "cure" them like in your physically disabled yuu bit. also yuu being given meds in their home world but literally not having access to them in twst just to stress them out more.

Tbh this is probably how even a non adhd would be, even the whole forgetting, executive dysfunction, texture stuff. Things in twst may not sound or feel the same. Being too exhausted to do stuff they need to do. Being so busy working that they forget hw on top of them not understanding it fully cause it has a lot a cultural context or just designed for ppl in twst.

Straight A Yuu now an academic failure no matter what and being made fun of or having people expecting them to "do better" but you know damn well if you were to ask them abt Albert Einstein or Julius Ceaser they couldn't answer.

Yuu slowly growing more and more unhinged until they become numb or end up snapping violently. Wanna act tough? Get bent. They break someone's nose and it's the talk of the school because looking at a lot of the fights around school no blood is drawn. They don't wanna act so tough now huh? What happened to survival of the fittest? They act like they're about it and all until the meet someone that's actually about that life.

I mean hell, I even think some serious yelling would shock a good chunk of them given how everyone is. Or just standing up to them. Idk Yuu being made fun of for somethings they can't help or something they like and just "Yeah you have a problem? Yes I fucking like it sorry you don't get it." Or idk they stand up for someone else in a violent "Shut the fuck up what's up with you? They have a fucking condition they can't help it— I don't give a fuck you don't know, if you had basic empathy or decency you wouldn't comment on shit like that until you got the fulll story, and even if they were backing away from fear I don't blame them, you're a bitch"

Some SxF Ch 108 thoughts! (a bit scattered)

(In response to Damian making fun of Anya holding hands with Yor) Anya really is a kind and empathetic character— earlier in the story she probably would be offended and maybe even hurt (esp after Ewen's comment that Yor's not her real mom), but now she feels comfortable enough to take off her mask and reassure Damian about something she fears (feeling unloved by parents). And this is coming after Anya read Melinda's mind and she literally thought "how I wish Damian would just go away!" (among other contradictory things).

Anya doesn't snark at Damian like she might usually do. The sparks show us she's reading his mind, and it's probably something like "my mom doesn't love me". I love the detail of Anya taking off her mask. To me, it feels like a direct parallel to the school dance when she told him she can read minds. Anya is hiding from everyone, but she lets it slip for Damian. Despite everything, she trusts him with her deepest secret. She puts it back on after the moment of vulnerability.

Damian is surprised and flustered that Anya knew what he was thinking. And Anya, instead of deflecting, tells him "believe me, I know." Damian clearly thinks of mind reading as a joke, which should be Anya's way out if she wants to keep it a secret, but it doesn't seem like she wants to hide it from Damian. Or she thinks it's more important to tell him than to keep her powers a secret.

"Take off that stupid mask already!" could mean for "just tell me the truth!" but Anya literally did. She took off the mask to tell Damian what she perceives as the truth (that Melinda loves him). She told him the truth before— she can read minds. And having Yor back Anya up makes Anya seem more "legit".

"Sy-on mom is being bullied too?" is such an innocent way for Anya to describe the psychological distress Melinda is in due to Donovan. She's concerned about Damian's family not getting along, because her own family is precious to her. And while (in the English translation) she uses the same term "bully" to describe what Damian does to her, Anya's facial expression tells us she knows it's a different and more severe ("grown up") form. Her and Damian are bickering kids, but Melinda is an adult dealing with adult stuff and is under great distress due to another adult. You can see it in her eyes. She's shaken by what she learns from reading Melinda's mind.

As for Anya's "This feeling... I think I've felt it before", I'm not sure what she's referring to, but it could be Melinda picking up Damian post bus hijacking, since she similarly cares for Damian in spite of Donovan. Melinda is strange to Anya, but at least she seems consistent in that she wants to care for Damian even though she can't really express it. So Anya decides to express it to Damian on Melinda's behalf.

Also, mention of telepathy. Either a set up for the Desmond family being involved in the experimentation done on Anya, or a red herring. I noticed Melinda's hand was on her ear when she mentioned telepathy, which reminds me of Melinda's earrings (note: jewellery/hair accessories are important in SxF— Loid and Fiona both wear WISE merch, Becky's hair clip is a bomb in reference to her family's business). I've never noticed if she wears a wedding ring, but this chapter she seems to only wear rings on the middle finger.

This chapter was delicious in a lot of ways. The melancholy felt by Loid and Anya, Melinda's whole deal, the ending gives us a lot of fun implications, tarot cards, possible foreshadowing with the telepathy/occult, ominous Grim Reaper/Yor parallels, follow up on "Anya tells Damian she can read minds", etc. I'm surprised by how packed this chapter is yet it leaves questions without answers that we likely won't know ("What feeling did Anya feel before?" "What did Damian secretly think?").

The gentleness of the Forger family stood out to me. Yor was very kind to Melinda and persuaded her to seek help. Anya was kind to Damian despite him insulting her. And while Loid has less screentime, the flashback to his childhood makes me think he genuinely had a fun time hanging out with the caretakers (while trying to get intel because he never stops working). He also stayed because Anya wanted to (and they got Anya that strange mask). Maybe it's intentional in a chapter about Melinda— as the two major families, the Forgers and Desmonds are heavily contrasted. Melinda seems genuinely fond of Yor, and it's due to Yor's own personality/sincere kindness/efforts that she unintentionally gave Loid one of his biggest opportunities (at least, we would assume so). Yor is the only one out of the Forgers who's clueless to Operation Strix, so she isn't trying to manipulate Melinda. Maybe that's why Melinda finds her refreshing. She was also seemingly amused/happy when Anya said Damian bullies her but she still wants to be friends with him. We know a lot of Damian's peers suck up to him, but Anya doesn't. She's not exactly honest, but at least she admits Damian's faults instead of blindly following him.

— you’ve seen each other many times. over and over and over since his conception as a nation. after the first couple of centuries you realized he was more than just a common face. this was the same person, each time. he was somehow cheating the system, staying alive for years longer than warranted. he was cheating you, death. it felt oddly personal. he had to go.

— it was only during the midst of the revolutionary war that you actually found yourself speaking with him. emotional reasoning led to him fighting alongside the rest of the red coats. he made a slip up, falling to the muddy ground of a foreign land. his company abandoned him and suddenly the end of your musket was in his face. “you’ve lived long enough,” you muttered, contempt filling your tone. then you pulled the trigger. problem solved.

— or… not, you realize years later. who knew you’d be seeing him again here of all places, in the trenches of the great war. he looks the exact same, more or less, save for a slight scar on his forehead. you’re almost sure the scar matches the spot where you first shot him. your eyebrows furrow as you make your way through the trench, stepping over bodies among other things. most of his fellow men were already dead from enemy fire or from your own fire. it had long since been determined that this whole infantry would fall; you were merely here to pick off any survivors of fate. “you,” you hiss.

— the disgust in your voice was all too familiar to him. “you,” he mimics, his face morphing into a similar sort of look. anger, hatred, surprise, and subtle curiosity. with no one living around, he dares to speak freely. “here to shoot me in the face again?”

— “precisely,” you reply, reaching for your rifle. you figured you could shoot him down now and find out how to actuallykill him later.

— before you can draw your gun, however, he’s already got his own pointed at your forehead. “i don’t think so, love.” he almost smirks, glad to have the upper hand for once.

— his advantage doesn’t last long, though, as you deliver a harsh kick to his legs. he stumbles, and in seconds you have him pinned on the ground with your boot on his sternum. you press down. “how’d you survive a blow to your head?”

— he wheezes out a sort of laugh. frustrated, you press further on his chest. this earns a gasp from him — “i can’t die by human means, though it does hurt when you,” he pauses a moment, gasping, “press on my chest — do you mind?”

— you lift your boot by an inch. your gaze is cold and calculating, boring into his eyes and maybe even through them, to his skull. “what are you then?”

— he hesitates at first. he knows he’s been bested, though. the smell of death and infection, trademarks of the trenches, fill his nostrils as he takes a deep breath. “i’m a country. i am literally england in all it’s glory.” he watches you take in the information. your eyebrows raise as you reappraise him. no wonder he was still alive. he was to england what you were to death; an embodiment of it. you, a concept and him, a country. “and what are you, if i may ask?”

— you stare at him a moment before aiming your rifle. country or not, you’ve got a job to do. if it wouldn’t kill him, he’d at least look dead for a while, which means no one would question why he was the only survivor among the rest of the troops. “i am death,” you murmur before pulling the trigger. he drops to the ground with a dull thud, like a deer. still, you’re sure you’ll be seeing him again. you almost look forward to seeing that angry expression of his again.

— “i take it you’re no stranger to fatal blows,” you murmur, running a gentle finger over the scar along his neck. you were in his bed after a one night stand (because even death likes to have fun from time to time). you’d both seen each other throughout time, sleeping together every now and then without truly understanding what the other was. you were.. immortals with benefits. something along those lines.

— francis just chuckles. “you could say i’ve flirted with death.” he shifts, brushing some blonde strands out of his face so he can admire you some more. the morning light shines through the window, illuminating his face and hair in a way that was.. heavenly.

— you smile. if only he knew. you’d decided long ago that out of all the flings and trysts you’d had over the years, he was one of your favorites. “mm. death seems to look kindly upon you, then. since you’ve survived so far, i mean.”

— “i’m supposing so, mon cheri*. i hope you look as kindly upon me as death does.”

— you don’t reply verbally, merely moving your body closer to his, almost touching. you’d seen and appreciated all of him from head to toe.. yet you still didn’t know what he was, how he managed to live for centuries just like you. you’re sure that the tension of not knowing is what led to you two continuously ending up in bed together. even so, every bubble has to pop eventually. silence, accompanied by mutual intrigue, briefly fills the room.

— “i have never managed to catch your name,” he muses softly. it’s only a moment or two more before he turns to face you completely, looking you over with relaxed but intensely curious eyes. “i know i’ve seen you before, mon coeur*. not just on the street. but in wars, in times of sickness. you’re like me, aren’t you?”

— “i am,” you murmur, looking into his violet eyes. “i know why i’m still roaming this earth. but what about you?”

— he leans in, starting to kiss the lobe of your ear down to your neck. his hands hold your waist, bringing you even closer. “i will admit to you, because you are so lovely, the obvious: i am immortal like you. well, immortal as long as the beautiful country of france continues to thrive. i am the embodiment of the mighty country, mon cheri. and you are?”

— you hum in consideration at his words. the mighty country of france… it was almost too fantastical to believe. if you weren’t equally fantastical, you likely wouldn’t have believed him. you resign to open up to him after some thought. he had shared his secret, so you might as well share yours. “i am… death.”

— he pauses his orchestrations, pulling back so he can look you in the eye. in the same way you considered his words, he ponders over yours. how such a beautiful creature could be in charge of the deceased is beyond him. you were death. you were tragedy. your existence alone fascinates him... finally, his lips curl into a small smile. “give me your kiss of death then, mon cheri. i promise i’m not scared.”

— you’re not entirely sure how you got into this situation, holding onto her waist, riding with her across the hungarian landscape. the air was crisp today, though not so cold as to hurt your nose when the winds blew by you. you were supposed to have killed her today and yet…

— you’ve known elizabeta for many years. you’ve seen her over and over… she even admitted to you that she’s a country, many years ago. still, you’ve given little to her other than the occasional night of attention and affection. you’ve managed to keep her close to your heart while holding her far away from your true purpose. perhaps she coaxed you into this horse ride to find answers.

— eventually, she speaks up against the trotting of her black mare. “you’ll be leaving me again, soon, won’t you?”

— you tongue darts out to wet your lips. it’s a nervous habit that you yourself never could understand. what does death have to be nervous about? “it’s likely.”

— a small scoff leaves your lips. “i can’t stay.”

— her head turns so she can glare at you. her eyebrows are furrowed, her lips fixed into a frown. she gets that annoyed glint in her eye, the one you wish wasn’t so attractive. “why not? we’ve done this dance for decades, i swear!”

— “control your horse, elizabeta.” your voice is calm, a stark contrast to her own. the brunette woman huffs but regains control of the mare carrying you both. héderváry pets her horse a few times over and things go quiet, save for the steady sounds of careful trotting. the silence offers you time to think. she’s right, really. decades have passed and you still haven’t opened up to her…

— you lean closer to her. she’s warm, comforting. always has been, really. beautiful in and out of her gear. she’s home, if you could ever have one. hesitantly, you begin to speak to her from over her shoulder. “what you are to hungary, i am to death, elizabeta. i embody it. and when people happen to ignore what fate has in store for them…. i handle it. it’s why i leave often.”

— she processes your words in full before mumbling, “oh.” her horse’s speed slows as héderváry thinks. “i’ve been courting death, then.” it’s hard to tell exactly how she feels about it, at first. “well,” she says, taking a deep breath, “you’re still my édesem*. and you’re staying with me. at least for dinner. no buts.” ah, that was more like her.

— you snuggled into her shoulder, kissing her neck. it felt good to share yourself with her. “i’ll stay, then.” you could go back to reaping souls tomorrow.

Vee c reefs relationship chart and explanation!!

Vees character relationship sheet!! This one is alot less complex than roses. vees main goal on land is learning to be normal, make friends, and help azul so there isnt much drama in their character relationships. They try to make friends as much as they can and try not holding things against anyone because “students are friends not food”

They both are pretty neutral. Vee wants to be friends with him purely because they took azul saying “you should try making friends” way to literally and they have been trying to befriend every nrc student as a result. Grim doesnt care cus it means he gets extra food from either samples or stale pastries vee doesnt want going to waste

Vee feels bad for how aggressive they became in the end of book 3 and wants to make it up to rose, rose doesnt care and has already forgiven them so they havent pushed vee away but also she isnt trying to be friends. They get along atleast

Vee: since vee grew up taking orders from powerful people in the sea they hold respect for people like that on land. They have a list of command in their head and while azul is the big boss, if someone gives them an order that doesnt go against his they will do their best to follow through. Because of this they have a high respect for riddle, he reminds them of some of their old bosses and they want to make people proud. Riddle on the otherhand while glad they follow his rules and orders, doesnt like how close they are with floyd and how they will join him in some of his bad habits. He thinks vee should do a better job at keeping floyd in check and thus is neutral towards them

Vee: baking buddies!! Treys offered them so many dental products their teeths never been this bright and shinny before. they came over to deliver some band notes to cater but got distracted when they saw trey baking. trey enjoys chatting with vee and getting their help, always willing to drop some nuggets of wisdom or baking advice since vee is a novice. I think try has a fascination with teeth esp sharp teeth so thats another thing they can talk about since vees trying to get the most friendly smile in town

Both are in pop music club and cater already worked with the mostrolounge on multiple occasions. I imagine they wrestle the closest to best friends on this list besides maybe lilia but i cant say they are best friends because of how despite them both being friendly and loud, they keeps people at arms length secretly. I do think people think they are best friends though. They hang out, vee doesnt understand magicam but they are always happy take help cater take photos or join him in them. They have a blast even if they arent super close

Not close, ace was scared of them at first and vee meant the nicest but 100% didnt help their case. Vee is still trying to befriend him but for now (and probably forever) they are neutral to kinda friends) i do think they would be hilarious in events together tho cus ace would create a stupid plan and vee would 100% believe the plan is flawless

Vee does not fuck with this guy. They dont like him, they didnt mind him at first but at learning he destroyed azuls contracts it became hatred on sight. Vee could forgive everyone else for their parts in it but leona just did that for the fun of it and vee will never get behind that. Leona doesnt give two flying shots, if they want to fight they can fight but he aint gonna say sorry nor does he care that much to begin with. The beed is onesided but strong

Uh so… during book three they had a little accident. When the mark between vee and azul fades due to the contracts disappearing vee panicked and when they made it to the place the fight was about to go down in, they saw azul throwing his tantrum with those two off to the side and they snapped. They lunged at the closest one which just so happened to be ruggie and may or may not have broken his leg in the fight. Once everything was cleared over vee felt immense guilt because they promised they wouldnt hurt any students, they took ruggies work hours until he was healed and delivers him the pastries that are to stale to sell (azul lets it so he doesnt have to include the waste amounts in his paperwork. Something something taxes) ruggie forgives but doesnt forget and def holds it over vee but he isnt going to lose his job over it. Free food is free food and eventually they become friends like they where before book 3

They both respect their strength. Jack has to admit vee has a good “sleeper build” and it takes a certain kind of strength to not use your own power to get what you want, vee thinks jack is the smartest of the freshman and finds his strong morals admiring since they struggle with moral codes

Azul!! Before book 3 vee and azul had a very unhealthy codependent relationship, vee views him and his family in an almost savior like role, and azul sees vee as the only person who knew him before he became how he is now (since they where friends before he went to school). The place they hold the other in their eyes is not healthy in the slightest but they didnt notice until post book three where vee calls him out for not informing anyone about how hes been feeling. Its not perfect after that but things start to get better and i think book 7 and azul finally admitting how tired he is of feeling this way (and vee having to realize the azul in their mind is who he really is) is what truly starts to bring them to a healthy point. I think i should mention throughout this they have yet to start dating, they are just really close “business” partners. I think azul confesses at the start of their third year or during summer break

In terms of how they act towards each other i think azul is softer to them than he is to jade and floyd, and vee is more true to themself around him in return. Vee wants to make him proud, they made it to nrc because of their contract and they want to prove he made the right call in trusting them. Azul wants to milk the opportunity of free labor to its fullest but he cant bring himself to take full advantage especially after the mishap when he gave vee the job of finding students who didn’t complete their payment. He doesnt say it but that side of vee he only recently learned of unnerves him, he expects it from the twins but not his childhood friend

Jade and vee have a complicated relationship. Vee spent most of their childhood being hired by the leech family to complete odd jobs so vee knew them when they where younger. Jade did not like vee, he didnt know what the job was that vee was doing but he could smell the coral reefs off them, he could feel their movements in the water telling him they where quite small, he could hear their meek voice. He viewed them as weak, truly weak. I headcannon that while jade views everyone as weaker than him, he has a special hate towards those truly weak and in his eyes vee was fragile and disappointing soft. I think this changed when they made it to ncr and he watched as vee took azuls orders to drag a student back to him to literally, when he saw the look in vees eyes for the first time as they beat that student up past lengths even he and floyd would normally go. It wasnt interesting to him, fascinating. He did research on them after word, watched their every move, looked up the organization they worked for and everything. How can someone so small and meek do so much damage, how could he have overlooked them. He starts to gain a genuine interest and care for them through taking the time to learn more about them

Vee spent most of their time hanging out with floyd and jade staying away from jade they dont understand why he suddenly wants to get closer or why he has become so nice. They dont trust it and they dont buy it… atleast for the first two years of it, they cant help that they do start falling for it when it constantly happens and vee was never the best at mind games, eventually they start to give into his request and it genuinely surprises them how he doesnt do anything suspicious (atleast to what they are away of) they cant seem to compute that jade actually wanted to hang out with them in a dark alley away from prying eyes. They match each others freak. One of them says the stupidest thing known to man kind and the other goes “exaccxttllyyyy.” Vee understands floyds moodswings and works with them not against them, if he doesnt want to cook something they will offer switching stations since they both primarily work on the kichen. If they are cleaning and he dosent want to anymore they will put some fun music on and let him dance while they work. If he drags them from studying so they can do parkour then that just a a free break! I just think they are goofy together, there isnt much more besides finding comfort in doing what they want wether that be staying in bed all day or vee listening to him ramble about a new spell he created

Vee and jamil are a bit tricky. Vee wants to be friends with him but jamil has a hard time liking them because they remind them of him and he hates how happy they are about what he hates. He sees them as azuls gaurd dog, he throws a bone and they chase for it, he cant stand how they are content in where they are in life. Vee doesnt get what the issue is because to them azul an escape from their normal life, from the gang violence and dangers of the sea. Jamil wants freedom, vee wants to be safe, so they both dont get each other. Vee still wants to be friends though, they think he is supper talented and wishes to see more of jamils real self even if hes meaner

Lilia is probably the person vee is closest to that isnt octotrio. Vee sees him like a parental figure and goes to him for alot of advice about trying to be human and being normal and just everything. Vee reminds lilia of himself in a way and tries to help, vee takes all his wisdom in stride even things that dont make sense. I debated putting platonic love on their line but i dont think either of them would clock it enough for it to be put on but i do think they are the closest to that. Lilia just knows the right things to say and vee is so earnest about what they want i think they get along and i think vee wishes they had someone like lilia growing up

I personally have 5 things

- A good chunk of season 4 sorry not sorry though i won’t get rid all of it bc there was some some good things to come out of it (mostly grim and chilly Zack esp since it was one of Cameron’s last roles. And maybe Capt Chen and Dr Undergear can be reworked) but other than that it can be reworked!

- Izzy and cubby not getting ANY sort of upgrades. Give them an outfit change and dagger or something please😫 Jake cannot protect them forever

-I’m also uncanoning that cubby is the only person in the trio with flaws and constantly fucks up for whatever reason (I know Skully fucks up too and also has some flaws which is good but this specifically about the kids) Give me them ALL being little assholes to one another and just in general on the occasion, bcuz kids can be jerks and mean to one another both intentionally and unintentionally. Let them be mean!!

-that Jake and his crew are the only kids on the island, that’s just hella eerie especially since Wendy and her brothers are still the same age from the 1st movie. We gotta put the lost boys back 🤷‍♀️

DMC Questions Anon here!

What sort of things would the DMC characters be into? What would their favorite medias be, who would their favorite characters be, their favorite dynamics, their favorite ships? Favorite things about it? Would they try and have any involvement in the fandom space online? If so, what sort of involvement?

Dante is a huge fan of videogames. He's played a variety of games since he could but these days, he leans toward action and fighting games. And hack and slash! God of War would be one of his faves and he approves of Kratos's character development unlike some other fans. If he had the time, he would argue with fans about it. But he most likely doesn't, he sees enough toxicity as it is. He consumes other pieces of media (books and movies) on occasion but videogames are his passion hobby. He likes every character.

Trish also loves videogames when Dante introduced her to them. She likes the stuff Dante "grew out of" like the more adventure fantasy. And she would love RPGs, especially Final Fantasy. And Baldur's Gate 3. Tifa Lockheart is one of her favorite characters.

Vergil is a bookworm for sure. He already loves poetry but if he would have gotten into fantasy, especially high fantasy like Tolkien. He actually read The Hobbit, and the songs and whimsical vibes really appealed to him. But Mundus attacked before he could get to LotR and The Silmarillion. He can still get into them after DMC5. He's not usually fond of movie but he would watch the LotR movies and fall in love immediately. He wouldn't admit to it though. I also think he likes GRRM's A Song of Ice and Fire a lot. The whole political aspect of it and the grimness would appeal to him. He would personally hunt GRRM to learn the true ending. Vergil would hate the HBO adaptations. His fave character would be Daenerys obviously. From LotR, he would love Aragorn the best.

Post-DMC5 Vergil would get into a lot of heated debates in fandom esp the ASOIAF side. So his fandom access is permanently revoked by the family for his own and their sanity.

Trish gets him to play videogames but Vergil only likes Baldur's Gate lol.

Lady used to watch anime before but at some point grew out of it. She loved Bleach and Revolutionary Girl Utena. Her favorite characters was Utena. She watched WWE for a while as an adult but grew out of that too. She's a huge sports fan in general and follows the sports news as vigorously as she can. Sometimes, she plays videogames with Dante and Trish. She slowly gets to like them.

Nero is a comic book nerd, like very into DC and Marvel. The access to such entertainment was banned in Fortuna but after getting out, it was like a dam broke and he's addicted to them now. Batman and the adjacent characters are his faves. He gets into shipping discourse a lot.

it was only a matter of time, before i would have made another crossover with those two. i can't deny, that they are very 1:1 for me, when it comes to comics supervillains. so why not to mix one awesome n' beloved thing with another? esp since funny enough, they do have quite a few similar plot-points. well, the halloween themed costume aside. i mean it goes as far as jack once having the bat-themed boyfriend pal, which reminds me of someone else, i know.

i've tried to make my notes more or less readable here, but they still might be a bit scattered. i attempted to keep them as short as possible, but i just cannot talk 'small'.

1. the first art is low-key based on underdeveloped AU, that i have about the early comic scarecrow n' modern jack meeting n' hitting it off serial killiar style. considering, that both of them possess killing methods, which have a noticable tradmark to it, i imagine that they will leave one hell of a mess behind, while traveling across the country. in that timeline, batman is dead. n' jack's shitty foster dad was killed off earlier on. neither of them knows what to do with themselves, since the people who they had *twisted* emotional conection with are gone. without any direction, they meet in the middle, n' decide that they can as well team-up n' try to make being a villain fun again. jon might experiment on their victims *or torture them if its his ex bullies* n' then give them to jack, who would scoop their brains out and put candle inside their skull. n' uh yeah, he literally did it in the comic. i was honestly surpised that marvel come up with smth that creepy. it really sounds more alined with dc, if anything. but either way, here they are. two *grieving* psychos going downtown. they will make one another so much worse, i imagine. n' they will totally kill that npc dude btw.

2. dark magic n' the drip. or jon n' jack at their corniest. like, jonathan looks like he watched too much the nightmare before christmas n' jack dress up like count dracula for no reason. it's so random-ish n' cheesy. but with this being said, i love both of those designs, n' think, that they really suit the vibe of comic issues in which they were featured. jack always came off as a he-witch to me, but it was nice to see it being played on in a different way. n' then, crane really rocks his own outfit as well. i totally need to draw him in it more often, haha. they dress up for a halloween party for real this time. n' well, i added batman n' spiderman into the mix here, bc i kinda wish that they got to fight / interact with those versions of jon n' jack. it would have been fun for a few reasons. also this can be technically counted as shipping art, but can be viewed as your typical gloating bad guy n' helpless hero thing too. n' to clear any possible questions, i only create stuff with adult peter parker. like cartoon era/late early comics, 20 smth one. i love my spiderman being of age, where he can legally mingle with his villains, not be detained at school lol.

3. the classic four from the timeline, when the comic plots were a bit more ligthearted. aka during the times, when the deadly mercenary n' crazy scientist were robbing banks, instead of harming *torturing* people. i love dark stuff, but there is charm to how 'simple' the scarecrow's and jack's goals once were. n' i love how the scarecrow used to do the lil, dorky dances. it really suits him. n' since at least 2 or maybe, most of jack o' lanterns are southernish in their roots like jon, i had an idea of them having a country dance *in the middle of graveyard* kinda just makes sense to me, haha. batman and spiderman merely happen to find them like that. n' well, it's kinda awkward. esp bc they technically don't do anything bad. i also imagine spiderman being like 'oh, so you have one of those too'. which is mostly a ref to how both the scarecrow n' jack were called 'the reject from land of oz' by other characters. they can rejoice here.

4. the develish & undead duo!! my friend once told me to try n' watch older superhero cartoons, and at first i was like 'welp, they prob be hella boring'. but then i caved in, n' watched a couple of superfriends episodes. as result, i fell in love with their scarecrow's desingh! it was unexpected tbh. usually, i prefer jon's older, classic scarecrow look. so no straw hair, less features exposed, just a hat n' a sack on his head, but their version of him actually did it for me. i find their crane both creepy n' cute. n' i also read on wiki, that he might be undead. so that bit interested me as well. non-human jonathan crane, what a concept! him returning from the grave just to be a menace to batman. n' to accompany him, there is an undead jack o' lantern from the ghost rider comic. his corpse literally got possessed by satan. anyways, both of them raised army of zombies. both of them undead n' prob won't ever get out of their spooky suits, since i don't think that they can. n' funny enough, jack's hometown was called sleepy hollows, if i remember correctly. so they can haunt people there, make it into a truly cursed land.

5. the last one was kinda spontaneous on my part. the other day, i was looking at what kind of action figures the scarecrow n' jack have. saw one, where jon was looking kinda strange, all black n' yellow. which is how i find out that he *apparently* got yellow lantern powers in newer comics, even if it was like for 10 seconds or smth. i didn't read the issue itself, but i found the idea kinda fun, n' his design was decent enough for me to get interested n' wonder what i can do with it. then, a bit later, i saw that jack had a venom-funko figure. i don't think, that he was ever canonically venomized in any of the actual comic issues, but once again, the mere idea of it happening was enough for me to consider doing smth with it. i mean, a venom-like tongue, but its made out of fire? dang. that's kinda cool. so yeah. the yellow lantern scarecrow n' symbiote jack o' lantern being the double trouble. if they weren't enough of a mean goblin-man before, now they surely will be.

- we’re gonna find out how joui got exposed to the paranormal and its gonna be some shit where his whole team died (which we kinda know? he’s got the lil charms on his wrist for his friends and im ASSUMING. theyre dead) and joui only survived because someone stepped in to keep him safe. and he’s now emulating that bright and happy behavior that the person who saved him ahd because he’s trying to honor their memory.

ace is yjn's (platonic) no. 1 but i think yjn holds a bit of a grudge from how ace acted in the prologue thru part of book 1 esp bc it's his fault they wind up dragged into the book 1 stuff at the start LMAO unfortunately for them they do just naturally gel really well w/this guy so they end up besties. against their will.

deuce meanwhile is just "huh he's kinda stupid" to "oh he's stupid i gotta help him.........." LOL i think yjn initially wants to take care of him the way they would their sibs but as more time passes it evens out to a more equivalent friendship on their end. deuce has no idea abt any of this tho as far as he's considered he n yjn are just normal friends the whole time ALSKHDGLAKSHDG

adeuce coming to save yjn in book 4 is when they go from "these are my buds" to "i really really care abt these guys and (bewildered) they care about me too.....?" id say they consider ace probably their Best Friend (in the sense that ace is their closest friend) earlier htan that but theyre not ride or die until then
