Listen. I'm not, like, rooting for Ted and Michelle to get back together or anything. I'm not even necessarily rooting for Michelle to break up with Dr. Jacob.

But watching Henry just snub Dr. Jacob so blithely getting into that car? Just zipped right past him like his presence didn't even register? Watching Dr. Jacob try to connect with Ted's son and absolutely wiff it?

You guys, I am so glad Ted got to see that. Not because Henry getting along with Dr. Jacob would mean Ted's role in Henry's life was somehow under threat. Henry loving someone who occupies a step-parent role would not in any way detract from how special and important Ted's relationship with Henry is.

It's just that Ted deserves to get a little vindictive thrill every one in a while. As a treat.

DISCLAIMER: I'm not trying to tell people what to feel or think. I'm just trying to offer another, more positive perspective. I understand where people are coming from. I hope this post comes off as comforting to those who need it, and not dismissive or invalidating.

To all the fans dissapointed that 3x08 was such a depressing episode and it ended on such a low note: remember that we're in the dark forest, and as dark as it gets right now, it's gonna be that much brighter at the end.

I'm glad Roy, and Jack, and Isaac weren't the best people this episode. And Colin and Keeley and Ted weren't doing great. Because their issues need to be acknowledged if they're gonna be resolved.

I'm happy that Ted spent the whole episode fixated on Michelle and Dr. Jacob, and I'm glad the characters called him out on it.

I liked the locker room talk on the subject of nudes. Sure, I wish every man would automatically assume they need to delete all such photos so they can't leak. But I loved that they had an honest conversation about something that doesn't come up that often in order to reach a conclusion about which is the best and most moral way to proceed. Conversations like this are what keeps society improving.

Overall we got a lot of new dimension to all the characters, even the ones who regressed and did bad things, and that's good.

Also let's have some faith guys. Since the show is airing weekly we don't have the privilege of seeing an entire season at once, and knowing instantly what the overall messages and issues with it are. And i know since episodes are on the longer side, it feels like every single one needs a satisfying ending, that ties in every single thing, and that we're anxious to have these issues resolved. But in the end they are part of a much bigger overarching plot.

And I for one will keep my mind open and trust that the people involved in the creation of Ted Lasso will give the characters the resolutions and the arcs and the endings they deserve, and that they'll continue treating their characters with respect and dignity.

Dammit, I am so disappointed in Michelle. Who cares if it was a year and a half after they divorced? It’s so wrong on so many levels. I remember a therapist I saw had me sign form after form regarding this type of thing. One form stated if I saw her in public I would not acknowledge her. A bit extreme she said but it was absolutely essential to maintain that boundary.

And to not even tell Ted you’re dating, let alone having the man take Henry to soccer? Fuck. I was pleased to see this divorce portrayed somewhat realistically. I liked that there was no one at fault, per se. It was icky that she used her own therapist for couples therapy but ok. Now it’s all just gross and awful and I cannot see how she and Dr. Jacob can come out of this as even remotely sympathetic characters. And that just sucks because I like Michelle. I identify with her in many ways. I’m confused why the writers felt they had to go in this direction? I mean it certainly ends any talk of Ted possibly getting back with her but it seems extreme. I suppose we will see, yes?

Things I've noticed on my rewatch of Ted Lasso 3/?

​ The clues for the Ted-Michelle-Dr. Jacob clusterfuck are there from the first episode.

In Season 1 we have the dialogue at the end of episode one where Ted tells Michelle "I'm giving you that space... Yeah, and myself, right", clearly he doesn't want that space. Later in episode five we have Ted saying "Then she and this therapist we were working with decided that the best thing to do would be to give her a little space. And so... well, I gave her 4,400 and 38 miles worth of it". Leaving wasn't Ted's idea, it was Michelle and Dr. Jacob's idea. Then in episode 7... Michelle is pressuring him to sign the divorce papers, she actually makes the lawyer reach out to Ted. She is impatient, she contacts him twice in the same day, and then she makes the lawyer inform Ted that he doesn't need to send the papers through mail, or fax them, he can just send the pictures, to expedite the process, it sounds like she is quite in a hurry to be divorced. Like, we know she is the one that falls out of love (which is okay, shit like that happens all the time), but by this episode we can start postulating the idea that Michelle might be a bit selfish and inconsiderate of Ted's feelings. Because at this point we know that Ted has done everything it was asked of him, he went away, he let her go, and he told her he would sign those papers, she just needed to wait a little.

Season 2 reinforces the weirdness of it all when Ted explains that the therapist Michelle was saying was the one that treated them as a couple. Now, I know jack shit about therapy, but I feel like this is wrong from the get go. I imagine that you need to establish trust with your therapist, how can you establish that with someone that you already must feel that knows more about you than you are comfortable sharing? Because you have to assume that your partner has shared things about you with their therapist, it's only logical, and it's okay, but I also assume that you are never expected to interact with said therapist in the wild. But then Ted has to sit in front of this person that knows things about him that he never had a hand on freely sharing. We see Ted's journey with Sharon, how hard it is for him to open up, but he never had a chance to do that with Dr. Jacob, it was already done without his consent.

Then season 3 arrives and it becomes a full cycle of shit, it makes sense in an awful way. I actually wonder if this storyline was what inspired the first episode of Shrinking, if that is not an unhinged therapist I don't know what that is! And no one will convince me that Dr. Jacob is okay, he is not! He has ISSUES. And therefore Michelle has issues because she has been caught in the middle of it. (Now THAT is the spin off I would want to watch, because I think Michelle might even be in danger here, she has been manipulated by her therapist). Anyways... the clues are there, one might like or not the storyline but I think the way it was set is quite great.

in light of tedtrent becoming so real, im also jumping on the tedtrent epilogue 😊

there's just no way ted wouldn't keep in touch with the others (and have weekly zoom meetings just like in the christmas special) and I just love the thought of the whole team having reunions once in a while.

and going back to trent's arc in s3, the sunflowers conversation, "And your daughter?" "She's never been happier." I think it could go the same for ted.. we've never really properly saw how henry felt about his dad being in london, it's always other people that told ted his son misses him, who's to say henry would rather see his dad happy because that in turn would make him happy too? he was there to win the whole thing, right? I just know ted’s story isn’t done yet when he still hasn’t learned to let others take care of him in return and who else to pair him with than the man who blew up his career because a man was nice to him (and also because they were so. so cruel for the fakeout tedbecca scenes for that finale) 🥺

I'm no writer so just pretend these are snapshots of a slow burn fic where ted visits london for their team reunion and slowly realizes that trent has a crush on him and they kiss about it 💛

Stupid, non-spoiler, non-plot points:

- Van’s hair is fluffy and cute and he deserves nice things

- Ericka is a sweetie-pie overachiever and I love her. Also is she always cold because she’s in a sweater in every scene

- Dana says the best lines in the entire show

- I thought Jacob was gonna be an asshole, but he’s surprisingly likable

- Wolf has little sassy lines that make me actually bark out laughter

- Nichols has a great smile - even more so because he’s a grump

- Muriel has phenomenal makeup always

- Carol is hilarious and such a boss

- I have cried multiple times every episode but also audibly laughed every episode (which is more rare)

- Already seeing some ships and I am INVESTED

- I’m calling the Van Markus and Ericka Kinney ship Karkus and you can’t stop me
