i haven’t read naruto in over a decade and most of my knowledge comes from fic anyway, but if you’re gonna have modern kitchen appliances in your characters’ kitchens, like fridges and stovetops and stuff, that means there’s electric wiring in the building, right. there’s an electric grid in the village, right. there’s electricity coming from somewhere. right.

where????? is the electricity????? coming from??????

is there a power plant somewhere in konoha? is there some kind of electricity generator somewhere?? is this some chakra construct shenanigans?? who runs the electricity utilities? is oversight of the utilities services under shinobi oversight or is this allowed to be under civilian control for like. specialization and efficiency reasons because i don’t see any of these child soldiers getting any training in engineering beyond like probably how to sabotage a building/infrastructure with demolition charges in a combat situation, which isn’t the same as building and maintaining a power grid within the village.

where’s the water coming from.

are these just like some kind of public good provided for all the citizens of konoha or are you gonna have to deal with the annoying knowledge in the back of your mind while running a weeks long infiltration mission that you’re still gonna need to pay the electricity bill for your apartment back home despite spending most of your time away from the place.

the shinobi are definitely at least hip deep in charge of the waste management though, you won’t believe the amount of personal information you can find while dumbster diving or stealing people’s trash. also, no civilian is gonna be left in charge of managing the biological waste (i.e. dead bodies) and paper incineration (classified documents) and other junk associated with running bloody covert ops.
