This isn’t how you imagined the day before your 22nd birthday to go. Yet here you were, sitting in your small two bedroom apartment with your two sons, well adoptive sons, who were playing on the floor quietly. The quietness is almost peaceful and comfy, even with the cramped space the cheap place provided. But you couldn’t just ignore the elephant in the room.

Legs spread and body leaned back into the Sofa. You would’ve thought Chrollo Lucilfer lived here based on how calmed he was. His eyes weren’t trained on one of his favorite books either, instead they were watching, observing, the boys on the ground, his sons, his itsy bitsy spiders.

You couldn’t deny it either. As you look at them, the resemblance was uncanny. The twins were basically almost identical copies of the young man. Except for a few minor differences.

Rubbing your temple, you close your eyes. How did you get into the mess exactly? Oh yeah the day after the twins were born.

Fingers cold, clothes wet and throat hoarse, you stood out in your driveway in the rain. This wasn’t how you pictured your first couple of days out of high school to go. Your face and body stained with the cries from the sky, it was raining so much tonight that it was even hard to see what was even in front of you.

“You can’t do that to them! It’s wrong Melissa! Mom, come on we need to stop her!” You shout, not letting go onto your sister's arm.

“(Y/n) stop. You need to let it go” Your father orders from the door of your house, your mother in his arms distraught. Her body visibly shaking at the event turning out in front of her.

Your older sister, Melissa, yanks her arm from your grasp. She glares at you backing away.

“It’s where they belong in the first place!”

Melissa gestures back at the old truck on the street. Next to the truck stood a man in a hazmat like suit holding the crying twins in his rubbery arms. You lost it and pulled Melissa by her shirt.

“Fucking excuse me?!?”

She shoves you away and into a puddle on the ground.

“You don’t understand (y/n)! They are monsters just like their father. We need—“

“Who says they are?! They literally got born yesterday.”

“No!! You are being selfish!! It wasn’t their fault you decided to go on a fun adventure and get knocked up by the leader of the phantom troupe! You—“

“(Y/n) that’s enough!” Your father yells, “the decision has been made.”

You ball your fist in the dirty water. It wasn’t fair. It just wasn’t fair! They hadn’t done anything wrong. Melissa was being selfish.

She thought it was all fun and games being with the leader of the phantom troupe. Getting her bubblegum brains fucked out by Mr bad boy. Yet when it came to being responsible for what she had done and made, she couldn’t do it. She just didn’t want to go through the trouble.You know what. Fuck this. Fuck that. Fuck everyone.

Cursing under your breath, you stand up and dig into your pocket. Pulling out a wad of cash you chuck half to your sister and walk over to the man who has the twins.

Without a word you hold out the money as he looks at you. He looks at his partner next to him who grabs the cash. The man counts the money and nods. You quickly grab the wet and crying twins into your arms, backing away from the men.

Sadly you look down at the pair as the wiggle in your arms from the rain. You need to get them to warmth quickly before they get sick. Taking a look at your house, you walk inside.

“(Y/n)! (Y/n) (L/n)!! What in the world are you doing?!” Your mother shouts and follows after you.

Now here you were, 4 years later, in this apartment. You had just finished High School when the babies were born, kicked out when you took the twins in and have been on your own since then.

Well until now, of course. You had come home from taking the kids out on a small toy shopping trip to see Chrollo sitting on your couch. It had seemed he had finally tracked you and the twins down, though you weren’t hiding from him anyways. You knew it would be futile to escape from an A-list bounty criminal like him, it would just waste money and time, and you were smarter than that.

“Mom!”

You look over at the eldest of the twins who had called your name. It wasn’t the best time to choose to talk but you can’t do much about it now.

“Hmm? What wrong August?” You say, getting off the couch and sitting on the ground next to the boy. The boy looks at chrollo suspiciously before looking at you

”Can I have shiny?” He whispers, like it’s a secret.

“Shiny?” You parrot back, “Oh! You mean my Keys?” August hushes you like he doesn’t want Chrollo to know.

Reaching into your back pocket you grab the keys. You palm them in your hand before letting them dangle out in front of the young boy; jingling as they drop.

“You want to play with my keys August?”

August’s eyes sparkle and he claps his hands with glee as you hand them to him.

“Thanks mom!” He shouts walking over to the rest of his toys.

You smile as you look at the young boy. August was the eldest of the twins, and even though he was still so young he was very mischievous. In a simple sense three ways to describe him were he was playful, a little sneaky and truly a little thief, especially when it came to the many shiny objects around the house. He loved to take them and hide them in his many secret places so he could keep them all to himself.

Your keys were one of his favorites. His all time favorite even. You didn’t know why and neither did he. All you could guess was it was due to you allowing him to play with it ever since he was a little baby.

“Hmm? Kao? What’s wrong?” You ask, looking at the small boy peering from under the coffee table. Kao’s silver eyes just stare at you and he only responds by blinking once.

Kao was the opposite of August, sure he was mischievous at times as well, those two could be quite a handful, but he was very quiet and liked to keep to himself compared to his brother. Due to him liking to be quiet he had created a bit of a habit of doing this Morse code type of thing with his eyes. One blink means no, two blinks means yes and many blinks means I don’t know. Then there were also the many expressions with his eyes that he would be added to those blinks. Like an angry gleam in his eyes with a yes blink could translate to “Ugh fine” while a glossy sad eye with a I don’t know blink could translate to “mommy. I don’t know.” Or “Hold me.”

Right now Kao only blinked once and he has blank eyes so he said “nothing’s wrong”.

“Oh ok Kao. Is there anything I can get you?”

Kao opens up his arms and blinks twice for yes.

With a small whisper he says “cuddle.”

He was so cute sometimes. You coo at the young boy, pulling him gentle from under the table. As soon as Kao is in your lap, he rubs up into your soft sweater. After a couple more rubs and moving around he lets out a soft sigh, deeming he was comfortable and happy.

“Hey! Let me join!! I wanna cuddle mom!” August yells and sprints from his pile of things. With his running start he jumps, more like cannonball, into your lap. You groan as August lands. Here we go again. Or maybe not?

You had expected Kao to huff and claw at August. He usually does it when he believes his older brother is being a nuisance or being too rough with you. Yet you instead see that Kao is ignoring his brother and is having a staring contest with Chrollo.

Crap… you were so distracted by the kids that you forgot Chrollo was even in the room.

You kind of wondered how long this could go on. Chrollo seemed like a tough shell to crack.

“Cuddle” Kao requests suddenly. Startling everyone in the room.

Kao's request causes Chrollo to raise an eyebrow at the young boy. You however just sat there astonished. You couldn’t believe Kao had invited Chrollo for a hug. Kao hates strangers. It took the young boy over two months to allow any of the other children or staff at the daycare to even approach him.

You hear a creak from the coach and watch as Mr Edgelord himself, Chrollo, stands up and approaches your group. He was totally an Edgelord though with his long leather cross jacket, slick back hair and pale white skin. He looked like BotchedTopic hurled all over him. I mean that wasn’t bad he was clearly handsome, hell he was a 10 out of 10 in your book, but you just couldn’t wrap your head around how your blonde, fake and plastic like sister went and got knocked up by this guy.

Chrollo sits down on the floor next to you and goes to grab the boy from your lap but Kao only shuffles away. Chrollo pauses and looks amused at the young boy and tries again but the same thing happens. Chrollo looks at you to see if you know what’s going on.

With knitted eyebrows you look down at Kao. “Kao what’s wrong? Don’t you want to cuddle with dad?”

He blinks no but repeats “Cuddle”

You don’t understand. But August seemed to because he lights up like a Christmas tree.

“Yeah mom cuddle!”

You laugh, confused, and look at August. “August what are you and Kao talking about?”

“Mom!! It’s obvious! you have to cuddle with dad!!”

You blink a couple of times in shock before going beet red as Kao nods his head.

You sputter out incoherent words before taking a deep breath and in a soft voice say, “August, Chrollo and I aren’t together, together. We just can’t cuddle randomly.”

As you finish you see August’s face drop and Kao looking sad. Then for the first time in a while Kao actually says a full sentence.

“But...but the other mommys and daddys do it. The other kids tell us all the time.”

You are shocked silent. So that’s why. You hadn’t even thought of the fact that Kao and August are the only two at the daycare that don’t have a dad. You didn’t even think about what was being said by other kids or if they even noticed. Man this was a situation you had gotten yourself into.

Sighing you look up at chrollo. You don’t want to do it but you know it would make them happy. Pulling Kao and August off your lap you turn to chrollo.

Sheepishly you look at him in the eyes and, amused, he nods.

Holding onto his shoulder you sit lightly on his lap. You still wanted to keep distance between you two so you leaned a little bit above his chest and sat on his thigh instead. You thought it would be a good plan, though Chrollo had decided on other things. He wrapped his arms around your waist and pulled you right against his chest and into his lap.

Your heart was practically hammering out of your chest and face was on fire. In a sad attempt to hide it from him you put your head on his shoulder, hiding your face using his fur collar.

August is heard giggling happily so you know your plan has worked and the two children are no longer sad. Listening, since you can’t hear them, you hear the two children move around and hear August whispering. You knit your eyebrows in confusion when you feel a large soft fabric put over the two of you.

“Thank you. That was kind of you two to give us a blanket” Chrollo says to the boys. His warm breath tingling against your skin.

As you sit there, stiffly, you hear the boys converse a little more, well mostly Chrollo and August. They just exchange a couple of questions to get to know each other before two pairs of footsteps are heard walking away and a door closes. Kao and August must have gone to their rooms to play.

Ever so silently, you pull yourself slightly off of Chrollo’s lap and look down the hallway to confirm that the two boys are gone. You sigh in relief when it was true but you are suddenly cut off.

You struggle as you are pounced upon and pinned down to the floor by Chrollo. With one hand holding your hands above your head and the other hand tying a cloth around your mouth, you were in a tough spot.

Your insults and cries are muffled against the fabric made gag. Chrollo hushes you as he bounds your hands above your head.

“Now, Now, (y/n), no need to cause a scene.” He says which only causes you to glare. He chuckles at your look, “Don’t worry I’ll make this quick for us.”

While you were taken aback by his comment, Chrollo grabs onto the waistline of your pants and panties and pulls them off in one quick swoop.

You weren’t going to allow him to use you this though. No way in hell. While he was unbuckling his pants you take your leg and kick him in the face as hard you can knocking him over.

Wiggling away, you pull your bounded hands to your face to take the gag off. Finally off you try to shout.

“Au—“

But you couldn’t even finish a word as Chrollo had pushed you face first into the floor and held you there. Wiggling around you can’t get the muscular man off of you. Cursing at yourself for being so stupid and naive to let this man into your house, you go to shout again.

“Ack—“ You are cut off again as chrollo shoves two of his fingers into your mouth. Your eyes water, you gag slightly at the foreign object in your mouth. You hear Chrollo chuckles above you. He brings his head to the crook of your neck and starts biting and sucking at any possible skin he can get at.

“Hmm… maybe I should’ve let you call out. I wonder what the boys would’ve said seeing you in this position.” He mumbles out against your neck.

You freeze in your tracks, balling your fist in absolute furry. How dare he. How absolutely dare Chrollo say that in a situation like this. Using them as some sort of hostage. Bargain.

But at the same time, you couldn’t do anything. You couldn’t, no you never want them to have to walk in to see this. The threat had work. You were trapped.

Chrollo takes his fingers out of your mouth and spreads your legs. You shiver as he runs his fingers up and down your slit; spreading the wetness he found there. He chuckles and pulls his fingers away wrapping them around his length instead. He gives himself a couple of testing pumps for good measure and aligns himself up. You take a deep breath as he starts to push his length in. Choking on your breath and gritting your teeth you try to keep yourself quiet to not show you were in pain. Finally bottoming out, Chrollo groans into your ear.

“I'm your first huh? I feel very honored.” It seemed your attempts at playing it cool hadn’t worked on him.

“Shut the fuck up you bastard” you curse lightly out at him. Though you regret saying that as Chrollo suddenly pulls his length all the way out before pounding back into you. You moan lightly out into the crook of your arm, from the pain and pleasure.

“I don’t think I heard what you said (y/n). Do you think you can repeat that?” He says calmly. You could practically hear the smirk on his face when he said that.

Not going to give up to him you try to answer back but are cut off as he starts off at a rough pace as if he was trying to pound you into the ground. The sounds of slapping and lewd noises fill the room as you try your best to keep quiet. It was pointless though because even with your mouth being blocked with your arm you were still loud.

“F-fuck-k Chrollo-o slower. Slower. You’r-re making too-ohh much noise.”

You hear chrollo humm above you in consideration. He pauses and flips you onto your back, entering you again. You think maybe he listened to you for once, but are proven wrong real quick when he sets a fast pace.

You reach up pushing against his chest trying to get him off, in a sorry attempt to get him off. Sure this made less slapping and lewd noises but with this position his length was just getting deeper, making it hard for you to be quiet.

“Mom?”

You freeze to the bone. You look to see that thankfully August wasn’t actually standing here and was still in his room. The only problem is that now you have to answer the boys while being pounded into by chrollo. And you damn well know he isn’t going to take a pause for you to do so.

“Y-yes August? What’s up?”

“Can we have pizza for dinner tonight?” He whines from his room, “I’m not in the mood for chicken.”

“Why-y of course. I’ll make it as soon as I can.”

“Actually, August we have other plans”

You looked shocked up at Chrollo. What in the world was he planning now? He puts one of his hands up to your face, slightly skimming your cheek. Your shiver at the touch and go to bite his hand but stop when he changes his pace. You mewl and pant as his now change of pace, with harsh and slower thrusts, bash constantly into your g-spot. Biting your lip, you shake your head at chrollo, asking for any mercy.

“Huh? But we want pizza.”

“Oh it’s not that it’s just.” Chrollo takes a minute to think, “It’s just I adore the way your mother takes care of you two. Calm, well-kept and so sweet. It causes my heart to ache just by watching you three.”

Chrollo pauses for a second. Letting out a soft groan as his thrust went frantic, he seemed to be close as well. You tried to hold on but you just couldn’t keep it in any longer. You felt the pit in your stomach finally burst causing a wave of pleasure to fill your veins.

Shaking in pleasure and dazed you feel chrollo let out a few more thrust before joining you as well. Letting out a low groan as he filled you up with his warm cum.

Letting out a couple of pants you both try to compose yourself. Now pulled out, chrollo zips himself up and wraps you in a blanket before hugging you into your chest. Absolutely exhausted and sore you don’t fight back.

“I still don’t understand dad.”

Crap you totally forgot about August. It also didn’t help that you couldn’t do much in the state, you probably couldn’t even walk correctly.

Chrollo laughs, “I see. Well I talked to your mother and we decided that you all, you, Kao and your mother, are going to stay with my friends and I. We are going to all travel together as one big group and we need to leave tonight to catch the quickest flight. So we are going to have dinner at the airport instead.”

You looked shocked at Chrollo. This man must be out of his mind. No way you would willingly allow you or the boys to go with him. Especially since his friends were probably the other troupe members.

You hear quick frantic footsteps and see August and Kao are sprinting from their room. Both are gleaming with happiness; even Kao had a small smile on his face.

“REALLY DAD?!? We are staying ALL together?!” August shouts out excited; doing a little spin at ‘all’.

“Why of course! That not all—“

“NOT ALL!!”

Chrollo hushes the boy and places a hand on your head. The sweet action causing a shivery go up your spine.

“Your mother has actually also agreed to being my wife and the mother of another of my children. A little sister or brother for you two.”

It’s silent in the room and you looked stunned at Chrollo. You felt sick to your stomach. This man WAS out of his mind. He was absolutely bonkers. Insane! A sociopath!

Suddenly, you are jumped upon twice. Blinking you looked stunned at your kids in your lap. Tears and snot rolling down both of their faces like waterfalls. You reach out to them, holding them tightly to you.

“K-Kao? August? Are you ok? What’s wrong?” August pulls away from your clutches, sniffling.

“M-m-mom,” August babbles out trying to rub the tears off his face, “I’m so-o-o happy! I’m SO happy”

“Wha—“

“Family-y” Kao mutters into your neck, “H-Happy family.”

You go to say something but are cut off as Chrollo pecks your lips. He looks at the boys and pets August’s head.

“Yes boys. We are one big happy….

Where do I start? King is super cool and I can't wait for us to get more info about his people and what the fuck happened, did the celestial dragons destroy them and then took their land? Big Mom said he was the last of his kin, maybe Kaido saved him? Or were they slaves? There's also that possibility, that they were kept as slaves since those assholes seem to love that.

I missed Zoro and Sanji fighting together. Ok so Sanji, maybe he feels weird because the suit is made for a cyborg? The lunarian stuff, that would mean either Sanji's mom or dad come from that people. Also lunarian means it comes from a moon, where is Enel? I'm just so curious to know how will Oda tie all of this up, he never disappoints. I don't know if Sanji is actually from that line, it might as well be nothing.

Zoro, oh my GOD. First of all, a badass through and through and I hope he doesn't die at the end, we already saw him wrecked after Kuma, but I don't think it will be the same this time, he may need special attention, maybe Marco will come into play there. Is Zoro the reincarnation of Lord Ushimaru? Was Lord Ushimaru the reincarnation of Ryuma? IS THIS TIED TO JOY BOY? What a rollercoaster. I googled and Lord Ushimaru was around during Oden and he died, this is either reincarnation or he was Zoro's grandpa or something, but if it's a family thing I don't think they'd remark the fact they look exactly the same (scar included) and that he uses the same fighting style. Oh my god Tashigi, we also have that why does she look the exact same as Kuina and also love sword, I NEED ANSWERS.

I still believe Zoro is from Wano but got lost and ended up in East Blue.

In other news, I hope Inuarashi and Nekomamushi get their revenge, but not gonna lie I'm going to especially enjoy seeing Perospero get fucked up, he's so fucking annoying and such a fucking douchelord. "Only by winning this fight, whatever the cost, will dawn come to the world" 😭

Now Momo, yes, YES. He ate the fruit made from Kaido, and I hope this age progression made him strong enough to take Luffy where he has to go, I hope it doesn't have nasty secondary effects since he's still 8 mentally in a 28 year old body. Does Momo look just like Oden? Or like his grandpa maybe? I'm so hyped for him and I hope this gives him confidence, he's the same kid though, I don't think this also made him stronger like Gon in HxH when he got older, again I'm so ready to see what happens, so much stuff is being implied and revealed and I really want to see Yamato fighting Kaido, I miss u Yamato.

for HxH i just really can’t bring myself to care about greed island a lot. also the hunter exam art gets in the way of me being able to show my friends how good the auction arc is because they peace off at it being kind of boring. ok they actually haven’t but i’m afraid they will

Unpopular opinion about the manga/show?

for HxH...the 2011 anime looks ugly as fuck and is less of a good adaptation than the 1999 is for the first few arcs...yes it’s added some filler and changed some stuff but the shit it changed is super random and impacts less the story than the changes 2011 did which COMPLETLY change the motivation of the main fucking character

for Berserk...the art really is not that good lmao its so fucking overhyped BYEEEE

i’m going to do this for a manga series I love that I don’t think I ever mentioned ont his blog: Vinland Saga! without explaining everything it’s a series that explores “protagonist as a fighter” narratives by saying that it’s not really great and having the protag just...have his life ruined by war and try to heal from that. Which i really enjoy! it’s also roughly based on the life of a real guy so the story has the same plot points as what we know about the historical figure the protag was based on

now my issue with this is that it just...lessens the impact of the point it makes because the first few arcs are dedicated to him growing up, getting a reason for revenge, joining an army learning how to be a badass and that destroying him, enter a timeskip and you get an arc i absolutely adore where he becomes the secondary character and you get to explore what he’s become from an exterior point of view. without spoiling too much this entire arc is about him learning how to socialize, cope with PTSD and he makes his first real friend

this entire arc is so dear to me because of the new fresh approach to the character and how you see him accepting help and working hard to get better and overcome his issues, his life still kind of sucks but he’s getting there and just learning how to live. it’s good! and it ends on a very rough note for him and his friend that kind of kills his dream again, but this time he’s not alone anymore......................................and it cuts to the next arc where he hops on a boat again to argue with people LMAO

i know it’s because damn we have to make it fit his IRL life but it feels like such a punch in the gut and also it’s boring as hell after the good conclusion that was the previous arc. it’s starting to feel like filler/artificially lengthening the story. why does he have to sail again my dude barely sleeps because of how much he’s messed up he needs a fucking break

i’d just...have ended the series on the last arc, that’s all. maybe have 1 to 5 “bonus” chapters after that that progressively show what he’s become in life and the stuff he did once/if he traveled again. but i’m a fan of not telling too much, the series STOPPING there entirely would have been immensly satisfying of an ending even if maybe a bit corny? (lessened by it not exactly being a happy ending)

i’D HEARD IT WAS A REALLY BAD CHAPTER. this is a late response but MANGA READERS THAT ONE WEEK... we were all a mess (and no I haven’t watched but I’ve been recommended to do so quite a lot so I’ll hop on it soon!) 

Hmm!!!! I actually find a *shorter* first chapter is a good way to hook the reader without making them claw through too much writing to get a sense of what’s going on. Like, if I see a first chapter is reallllly long I sometimes have to do it to em, and scroll a bit to the middle to see what’s going on, and to double check that it’s a fic I want to take the time to read

1300 words isn’t too much though!!! Omg I’ve written much longer first chapters lmao. If you feel weird about it you can maybe find a good place to split that 1300 into two chapters?? But definitely make sure it’s split in a good place. It’s always good to leave the reader wanting more. If you can end on a short cliff hanger or a tense moment, that’s 10/10

That being said it would probably be wise to make the rest of the chapters of a similair average length. I’ve read fics that have shorter or longer chapters and it’s not bad (unless I’m grieving because it’s too short AND I REQUIRE MOREEE) but it might help you with actually planning your plot

I don’t really think Feitan is... so far removed from his emotions (Like Meruem) that he would really need to change that drastically for someone if he really liked them—that being said, he’s not going to change, either. If by change we mean he’s suddenly as enamored and endearing with them as Meruem is with Komugi... then I don’t think that’s going to happen regardless. We kinda see Feitan being a good and decently considerate comrade to the Troupe, so that would obviously extend to this girl/boy, maybe with a sliver of extra fondness if we’re talking romantically. But otherwise, Feitan seems like a “you get what you get” type of guy, that would inherently be *tender* with someone he liked, but not so tender that he’d have to have a whole philosophical/personality change

Ok now I’m confusing myself aksjdhfkjs. Basically:

Meruem had to like, undergo some existential shit to get where he was Komugi. I think Feitan already has the capacity to care for someone, even if his way of caring isn’t exactly rainbows and butterflies. So it’s not like he has to change. He just has to find the right person that doesn’t 1) get on his nerves and 2) get on his nerves enough that he’s gonna kill them

It’s been so long since I watched Psycho Pass or even looked into anything about it so pls take my thoughts with a grain of salt but:

I’m gonna say probably not? He’s one of those typical antags that have such strong ideals that... I don’t think even if the corrupt system was taken down he’d be entirely absolved of his ideals, or at the least, of the journey he’s taken in pursuit of those ideals. I don’t think a guy like him could ultimately settle down once the dust clears, and especially not with a lover or a family or anything like that. If he did want to lead a normal life it would probably be in seclusion

I know you are busy & such, so just answer this when you can. U know in your HxH fics, how do you write the characters so well, esp. Killua (somewhat Gon too as well)? I love reading (& maybe even writing soon once Im not busy with other things) HxH stuff, but I find people can have a hard time writing HxH characters. Like Leo, people mostly get right, Gon & Pika are more hit or miss. & Killua from my expernce, people have the hardest time w/. Like they get certain parts right & others wrong.

ok first of all, omg, you’ve read my fics? thank you so so much! it means a lot :’) and i’ve been told several times too that i write the characters well (or that they’re in character, like they feel canon), and honestly i’m surprised that my way of characterizing canon casts in my writing is noticed by y’all, so thank you!

like i said, characterization is my fave part of writing. so i guess one way to answer you is that it’s because i deliberately and consistently analyze and check EVERY move and EVERY line/dialogue and EVERY action when writing them. like, i always ask myself, “would killua do this in canon?” “would gon say this in canon?” and i answer my own questions by going back to the anime/manga and checking if they have said/done the things/words i wanted them to do/say. if they have -- even just once -- it goes in my fic. If they haven’t, i’d instantly scrap them (i have a whole word document file containing ooc scrap scenes lol).

it’s a long process, super time consuming and takes up like 90% of my brain power when i’m writing. because i constantly think if how i write them is canon enough, as how i like it. and sometimes i go several days thinking about ONE scene or ONE line, analyzing, re-thinking if i should add them when i’m not exactly sure if it could be canon.

honestly tho? that’s just me. we could definitely write these canon characters as ooc if we wish. depends on the story and the writer, really. i also don’t think there’s anything wrong with veering away from canon personality, as long as there’s still quite a few canon traits in there, you should be fine :)

i wouldn’t really know the “right way” of writing hxh characters because i’m not togashi haha but i try my best to summon his brain so that i’d write them well and canon enough for my own satisfaction. (because i want the canon version of them in my stories). that’s also one advise i would give: do not settle for something that you don’t want to read about. if you think that they way you characterized a canon cast does not fit into their canon personality, or the way you want them to be, revise that shit. but, again, it really depends on you as a writer. if you feel that a scene or a dialogue would pass for you, then stop thinking about it and move on to the next scenes.

as for the difficulty in writing the characters, tbh, i find killua the easiest one to write about. i feel like it’s because we’ve seen his *feelings* and *emotions* in the anime/manga and we get like a whole perspective of him and his thoughts on certain matters. i’m not entirely sure why tho i just feel like i could relate with him better compared to gon, who i find the hardest to write about (because this kid doesn’t often show emotions/thoughts as deeper and in detail compared to killua).

i rarely write other characters, but if i would to rank them from easiest to most difficult to write based on my experience (and the characters i’ve written so far), here it is:

and really, write what you enjoy reading. you could honestly go crazy if you want. don’t think too much about characterization when you’re in the zone. once you’re done, then you could add/subtract/revise until you’re satisfied with your flow and characters.

Ok its been months n im allowed to have cartoon up onions. the she ra ending was underwhelming and hordak didnt deserve the open ended redemption-ish he got and the fact that i have to say this is really strange

he mass murdered people bro

and mermista's "are we just okay with this now" line attempts to address this but comes off as silly in the end because it doesn't actually solve anything in any meaningful way. he's not exactly redeemed at the end of the show, but they never actually hold him accountable, either, and that ambiguity comes off as lazy.

actually his whole "development" is kinda bullshit and heres why.

hordak's character arc is less about "maybe being a dictator is bad actually" and more about "i have worth as a person actually" which, on its own is a fine message for a character to learn, but, that shouldn't be the Peak of development of a main antagonist who has arguably committed iredeemable actions yet is going to appear to be redeemed at the end. he doesn't develop human compassion for the people he was colonizing, and he doesn't ever start to regret his actions for the people he's hurt? his arc just about realizing he isn't defective. like, why should i care about the self-insecurities of this dictator? why am i supposed to feel sympathy for him when he says some self-deprecating shit when he doesn't feel compassion for actual other people's lives???

you could interpret that he makes up for his mistakes after the ending of the show, but leaving it up to the audience to fill in the blanks of what happens to this major antagonist feels lazy and leaves things off on a confusing note. his one good quality is that he loves entrapta, but that doesn't...like... count as an actual redemption. if they had him fall in love with entrapta, and then realize that humans have real feelings and real lives through spending time with her, and then extend that compassion to the people he's MURDERED, that would've been better. but like. nah he's just a poor emo uwu man lmao

anyways watch hxh, they've got a villain who did that whole arc leagues better

He’s intelligent and has insane drive, and is able to understand baggage more than anyone. He understands you completely, and he’d want nothing more than someone who can not only understand him as well, but add on to him. You force each other to face yourselves, and it’s pretty, it’s raw, it’s ugly, and it’s human. He will very literally ride and die for you. Y’all don’t have it in you to argue, but you will bite your tongue as much as possible to keep the peace. You love peace. He loves peace. Can’t get that as purely as with anyone else.

He drives you crazy with guessing what you’re going to say, and you kill him with the ‘reserved’ act. You cannot escape him, and he doesn’t want to stop bugging you. But honestly, he understands issues - his got plenty of them himself! He doesn’t have any friends, he’s a cheat and he loves to fool around, so this contrast will make for an interesting relationship. JoJo #2 can get serious, but he needs to be moved to do so, and when he eventually shows you how serious he is about you, he’s in it for life. He’s dependable, so depend on him. He’d prefer a secluded relationship, and he’s into trying new things, so expect a fun time with him. Loads of arguments that end with no resolve.

You know, I thought last year would've been enough for these assholes, considering they managed to drive two people off tumblr just by being generally nasty to and about them, but apparently not. 

The mods for the blog hxh/bb/20 aren't the same people from last year, despite what their blog description says. They're the group who were kicked from last year's big bang for harassment (or dropped voluntarily following their friends being kicked). And I’m still so fucking angry at them and their self-righteous attitude - the fact that they feel zero remorse for sending so much anon hate and false accusations and blatant hatred. They even invaded a server I was in just to make fun of people.

I don’t blame people for not knowing how hateful they are, or who they are in general. They hide it well (though the hxh-or-die blog probably shut them up, i saw that going around a while ago) And most people ship pure little fluff ships in this fandom, nothing too heavy. But god help you if you dare write anything explicit. Or dark. Or ship the wrong ship, and yeah, hisoillu counts for that shit. God fucking help you. 

I had a fucking breakdown over this shit last year and I was barely involved. And now they’re back, positing like they’re the same hxh bang from last year, like their stupid fucking rules banning certain characters make any goddamn sense (just tag! the whole point of a bang is so that you pick a fic you want to write/draw for!) - I’m so done. I’m SO fucking done with these pieces of shit.

anyways i love how gon is increasingly approaching situations with his Plucky Shounen Protag Attitude in full swing, and he pretty much gets shot down every time. BUT his general determination to see killua bc killuas his FRIEND and hes gonna RESCUE HIM is still a good and pure motivating force 

like here, when hes climbing over the wall and hes like whatever i dont wanna have to deal w/being tested thats bullshit, i wanna see killua, my intentions are pure, im gonna try my luck with the dog....i was like ok yeah he’ll get over and like tame or defeat the dog and the guard will be suitably impressed bc nobodys ever done That before, and then gon will continue on to get killua 

but NOPE instead the guard calls him down and explains that gon Will Die if he tries that, and then the guard will die too for letting that happen. and gon is like oh shit my actions have consequences for people other than me, wow. 

and THEN the guard takes them in to meet the dog. and hot DAMN that is a scary creature. not even really a dog tbh. they did an excellent job making the dog Legit Scary and not just like, big and flashy looking....those eyes are so soulless, and the proportions are freaky 

and the guard says exactly what i was thinking - that gon would use his Country Boy Woodland Creature Skills to workaround the dog....but then the subversion - this creature is NOTHING like the woodland critters gon is probably used to dealing with. theres no way gon stood a chance here. the guard just saved him from a really unfortunate death

i think we’re gonna have this OP for a while, as the part just at the end shows gon and hisoka fighting in what looks to be an arena, and ik the next arc is the heavens arena arc, which im assuming is the tournament arc....

also i have no idea what that weird building in the OP is but my guess is that its the building w/the heavens arena in it bc its tall and,,,,heaven 

i predict there wont be much fighting in this little arc bc how tf else is it so short. at this point i rlly think gon is just gonna grab killua and go lmao. im super curious abt how thats gonna go down, considering that killua is currently strung up just bc he wont apologize...so i cant imagine his family would just let him leave w/gon. i wonder if killua will fight them, or if gons determination will impress them and then theyll let killua go (doubt it)

maybe this is just because i havent been around hxh enough yet and i havent really  invested in the manga or the ant arc but i just dont get why people make such a fine point that gon is .like.. amoral........ people LOVE to talk about how amoral he is .........and like yes it is obvious that gon doesnt really have any interest in codes and that he navigates a brutal world more easily than you would expect a normal 12-year-old to. but truly i dont see where people get the idea that gon has no set conscience or consistent goodwill............. ive heard it said “oh gon is only kind to people he has an interest in!!” well ok maybe but gon has an interest in SO many people.... everywhere he goes he constantly makes friends and lavishes goodwill on people...... thats not a NEGATIVE character trait its a positive one......... maybe hes not 100%  CONSISTENT about his goodwill but generally hes anything but cruel ....... he almost never acts in a  mean-spirited way to anyone even people who are malicious to him.... he has mercy on people that others might judge (for example he’s not phased by killuas backstory and he has no problem with letting that murderer from greed island go) but again having grace is not exactly a bad thing in a person....... and when people are heinously evil and dont deserve mercy gon does have TONS of animosity for them (see his reactions to the phantom troupe and illumi)...... and anyway it seems to me that so much of gons personality (his curiosity, his interest in life, his will to fight) is coloured by the fact that he is TWELVE............and acting like a child....................... i just feel like when people focus on gons morality being different from other peoples morality its ... like... picking out a couple of dark moments and judging a little kid who has barely lived at all and who has suffered quite a bit for not acting like a fully-developed and perfect adult... i dont get it

Ok, so what I'm going to try to do is actually set a timer and bang out some PURE GOLD today. I don't know exactly how it's going to work and I certainly know what I'm actually going to write (aside from the fact that the writing will look and feel like 100% raw uncut gold, obviously), so I think I'm going to run up a couple parameters right now before we hit go on the stopwatch. So I'm thinking right now, since I've got my beverages lined up already. Coffee, a mimosa, water, and peptobismol. Should I get a couple more just in case? Maybe I run out a grab a cocoa and a Soilent just to cover all my bases. Nah, nevermind. That can be my reward for finishing ;D. And I'm currently sorting out some writing music (and I am currently wandering through an audio-wonderland, complete with trips to Genius to read lyrics, but NOT in a procrastinating kind of way!). So I'm really close! Right now, I'm thinking the plan will conclude like this: I poop. I finish up a playlist for the write while I'm over there. I come back over here. Ok, I wash my hands THEN I come back over here... It'll be really close to 12:00 exactly. I fuck around until we get right to noon, then I hit go on a one hour timer. I close Chrome for it. and then I just try and fucking go. I can leave my post after 1:00 and that's it. That's all the rules. Whatever I manage to banger off is what I get. And then I'll have done it. And THEN, I can watch Arcane some more or something. I doesn't matter. I'll be free and I'll have confirmed I'm a good person, and not some sniveling worm. Sound good? 12:00 Ok, it's 11:55. You know what they say, if you're right on time you're five minutes late. And then capitalism begin to break under the weight of its conquerors and a couple of us started realizing we probably don't need to keep oiling the gears with our blood anymore. Hey that's not what we're doing today. Dad's here to write about the Franz Lion. Capital "The", obviously, Max... So okey, 11:57, let's just roll into it

Let's try what we were kicking around last night. Let's do some cribbing off of HxH. They started EXTREMELY simple. Why can't we? Gon knows he's borne for something bigger. He wants be an explorer, and he's not even sure exactly why. He just knows it's the greatest thing you can do with your life. His dad wouldn't give him the normal boring life so many are saddled with, because he knew there was no need. And he's been on pins and needles waiting to just GET STARTED ALREADY. So that's where the story starts. He's finally ready. You the reader are ready too. You're tuning in to see this thing kick off. It's us and Gon. What sort of thing are we in for? We kiss our "mom" goodbye and vanish over the horizon, eager to get a peek at what's in store for us on this crazy ride. It could be literally anything. That's the prologue. That's literally the whole thing, right? That's not entirely true. They frame all of this around a single adventure. Gon, in an effort to show us he's ready and not tell us, has just completed the fabled task of catching the infamous Legend of the Lake (or whatever they call it). Everyone in town is amazed. No one thought it could be done, but Gon did it. He's a different breed, Gon. For him it's not a legend, it's all too real. And he's ready to rise and meet the challenge. Ok, THAT'S IT. That's the entire opening. And by the way, this little adventure we're being teased is called "becoming/being a *hunter*". That's how the story is able to address it's central theme of a life of intrigue/adventure. It's not some vague idea of Carpe Diem or what have you, it's call being a hunter. So when we see people that think they want to be a hunter and when see ACTUAL hunters, the show is further able to dig into it's themes. I'd say that's the entire point of the first arc. What *is* a hunter? Several people will offer up their own ideas, several people will claim to be the hunter type. They'll claim to be the stuff that hunter's are made of. And then we'll see them succeed and/or fail. And occassionally we'll get actual glimpses into the live's of "real" hunters. That's the test aspect. We see hunter hopefuls and can see where the differences line up to the administrators. Obviously the admins are given an air of mystery for the most part. They are far more developed in skill and experience, to a seemingly impossible extent. They have almost a magical quality. But time and time again they let us the audience know that all of that is simply the window dressing, the trappings, of a hunter. To know what actually makes a hunter to is to a close eye on Gon. Every little encounter in the exam arc has one solid throughline: Keep an eye on Gon. Because he's got it. He's got the Hunter gene. And if we've convinced you yet that being a hunter a prize worth the effort, now you know what you have to be. That's why Kurapika is such an interesting character to have in the main cast. For the show, my take is that Kurapika is the guy that's really trying to be a hunter. A lot of the contestants in the exam are trying to be *something* they think is a hunter. But many if not all of them are eventually rebuked. They were seeking power or influence, status, you name it. And over and over again those people are proven to not be Hunter material. Because, obviously, that's not what the Hunter is. Those things are results of true hunters, not the essentials to actually being a hunter (hmm, i think a better writer probably could have articulated that last sentence better. Maybe take another crack at it next time you read this or something). That's why I really like Kurapika. He's ready to do the work to become a hunter, and as he becomes worthy of the title in the exam, you can see him start to really understand what Hunter actually means. You see this as he gets to know Gon. Kurapika is ready to earn the Hunter license, and when this happens he, as well as us in the audience, can finally tell that Gon is ALREADY a hunter. There's carrying the card, and there's living the life. Wait. There's the card in your wallet, but then there's the blood in your body. I think it's a twist that the show sets up being a hunter with this beaurocratic element, before revealing before too long that the it's all more of a philosophy than anything else. That's the start of the second arc. Killua didn't pass the exam, even though he seemed like a lock for a long time. But if you look at the details, it's all completely consistent with the theme of the show. What does it mean to be a hunter? He gets cold feet. In his head, he's not ready to drop everything and set off of the adventure that comes with this new job. His brother ambushes him and tells him to go home; that he's literally not ready to set off on his own. And he acquiesces. albeit in a crazy anime way. Ok ok, I'm losing track of what I'm trying to write down. Let me just cut to maybe my last point here. It's exciting, but not too surprising that the Hunter license essentially ends up clearing you for obtaining super powers imo. Hunters have proven themselves to be true at this point in the show, and we the audience have over the course of these few chapters gotten to understand what being a hunter actually means. These are people not content to live the average life. These are the trailblazers, the pathfinders, the pioneers. The dedicated. These are a different breed, and the hunter exam is just a little barrier they present to the public to make sure only people that will fit in to this community actually join. And now you've got a story inhabited by people made of something different. You've cut the expendable lot. The chaff. The interactions you now have access to opens up immensely. The sidekicks have been sent home. The people that throw the brakes on a dangerous situation have be jumped out. The gamers, the eccentrics, the gamblers are put in the spotlight. The characters driving the narrative have been purposefully selected at the start to be the ones that are interested in making things interesting as a habit. I feel like that was the idea of like One piece too, from what I've seen. Luffy is someone worth watching. Luffy is the starting point of the story. Once he's ready to get started, the show starts right from that point. Then he starts going out looking for adventure. And when he brushes into someone who fits into his world, someone worth watching, he literally invites them onto his ship so they can go off on additional adventures together. Then at some point you just have a cast of characters that get into something interesting every week or so, and you the reader are like "oh boy, I can't wait to see this guy meet everyone else!" Ok so, how does a formula like this map onto what I've got laid out for my story so far? I've got Weaver, and he's definitely a bit like Gon. I know already that he's worthy of following in story, and that's why the book starts where it starts. Once he's getting started on something interesting, that's exactly where we should be jumping in. So, is that actually what I've got set up so far? I've got the inciting incident as the pirate attack on the town. And originally I've got Weaver down as less "ready" and more "driven by fate". Admittedly, I think "driven by fate" speaks much more towards an ENDING. Like just a plucky protagonist ready to take on whatever the world has to throw at him works a lot better as weekly adventure show. If this book is going to have a beginning middle and satisfying conclusion I like the idea better that something connected to the end of the story is invisibly pulling Weaver out of his comfort zone at the start. Like Lord of the Rings, right? Frodo is visited by the big scary world outside at the start and asked to play a tiny (hobbit-sized) part as a favor. But when he encounters resistance, and the situation asks more of him, he rises to the occasion. Well, he shows up for it. I don't how much use he actually was. It was mostly aragorn getting them to rivendell. So, I guess, that was the rising importance of his role. He set out to make a day trip and go home, but it turned into a little journey and he got a taste of the danger involved in dabbling in these bigger fights. But then, once the problem is identified and the call is being issued, THAT'S when he answers it. He's gotten just a little taste of what this adventure will look like, but he's also started to figure out that maybe it's conflict to conquer. He knows at this point how scary and hard and dangerous it is, which he didn't know at the outset of the trip. BUT now that the stakes and goal have been established, he knows that he might have the power to succeed. He doesn't know what he's going to do or how's he's going to do it, but he answers the call. So I like both of these starts a lot. And like I said almost an hour ago, I'm here to try and crib a little bit. So let's zoom out my first few chapters here and see where some of this stuff can fit in. Weaver starts out like Frodo for the most part. A simple, quaint life, with nowhere to go and nothing to do, and that's not so bad. But maybe Weaver is ready for something else. Then Pirates attack the town. This is a big problem seemingly, but we'll find out this is much closer to Frodo too. It's a taste of the chaos and intrigue outside of Weaver's little corner. But this incident is for sure the reason ends up on the open ocean, his adventure began... for better or worse. Maybe he puts in his effort as a character to get out of this situation so that he can go back home and end the story. But we get to a point in this initial conflict where Weaver makes the decision to move forward instead of backward. I like that, but I don't know what this would be yet. Let's keep laying out plot. The pirates initially capture him and want to get rid of him, but luckily for Weaver, the captain hires him for an upcoming job. It's the kind of huge job that he initally had to turn down because he wouldn't be able to pull it off with his crew, but now that he's found Weaver, he thinks he's got all the pieces to make it happen. Ooh, maybe it's the kind of job he's been looking for for years now; the kind of job that means after you're done, you never have to another job even again. The heist that would get you out of the rat race for good. So then he's got his mentor trying to end his journey, right as Weaver would be starting his. That seems like that's good synergy. The only problem I'm seeing with this blueprint is that I've probably seen this too many times for my taste. But it's just a framework, I don't think it's too bland. It keeps everything on rails at the start too, which is probably the best way to keep people from getting lost in worldbuilding stuff, yeah? It's like, "Ok, I get it. We're going to get Weaver some wind powers, because he's the only one people have been able to find in decades or whatever. And once he gets those, they'll have the final piece they need to pull off Captain Toch's special job." So Weaver gets the idea, isn't interested in a big heist job, isn't sold on a pirate's lifestyle at all. But this wind powers idea is infectious. He has to know more, and this boat is his ticket. And even though he's not super sold on this job, it's so far away, and moreover, he trusts the Captain. He sees the opportunity in all this and doesn't have to confront the ugly hurdles of this adventure at all in the start. So that's how we get the momentum going. I think it's probably great that we've got this dangerous situation looming in the distance, so that we can use it to frame things Weaver is learning about the world. And eventually it can potentially come into play as a big turning point in the story. Right now my thought is, I have no interest in actually doing a heist/big job like this in the story. It's just such a great reason to get everyone on the boat going to different harbors and showing Weaver around. It works for Ettis and it works for Weaver. Once people start getting to where they are going, I can definitely see that goal just fade away into nothing as the ACTUAL story goal manifests itself. I wouldn't be surprised though if the eventual challenge that Weaver runs into doesn't mirror a lot of the specifics present in the original plans for the heist. Especially the idea that the *final* problem Weaver is presented with is something that has no solution outside of Weaver finally pulling it together and harnessing the wind to overcome. Although I think if I do manage to think of a problem like that I'd love for the actual solution Weaver goes with has absolutely nothing to do with his special power. It should be so clear to the audience at that point that the special power Weaver actually possesses is his indominable spirit. Right? That's a classic right there. And then the reader has to go like, "What? Is this guy ever going to actually become an Ether?" And at that point in the story I think would be the perfect time to actually get him some promising results. Like that's the second arc of the story. He first proves that he's the guy we want fighting for the right thing. We thought we needed him to be the hero as it were because of his special talent of wind ethery. But our expectations are subverted when we learn that's what we wanted, not what we needed. Ok, I've hit the hour mark, and then I tacked on another 20... I knew I might allow that to happen. Like 1 hour was the minimum, not the maximum. But I want to put a bookmark in this so I don't feel like I'm spent and can't come back tomorrow to keep cranking away. So tomorrow, when I come back and do the 1 hour sesh again. Let's jump right off from here. Keep going with the cribbing. We outlined a teeny little taste. If I can outline more maybe we can get enough to start actually sculpting the little details and such. And we can start deciding on some more worldbuilding. k bye

Ok, so I've always read Illumi as an antagonist, like Killua's correspective of Hisoka for Gon and of Chrollo for Kurapika. Each one is a foil of the other and they are also all three connected (through H like G is the 1 who initially connects K and Ku) (also can we talk abt the fact that Leorio is basically the Sa of HxH?). They are 3 characters the protagonists need to overcome or at least to confront. In K and I's case they share the same trauma and the same tendencies to wish and control con

the people they love. I mean, in K's case is just a shade of this bcs he doesn't impose his wishes on G, but he is still overprotective, so maybe more than controlling in his case it's more abt being overprotective and sometimes choosing in their place like what K attempts to do with Alluka and Nanika before being called out. The point is that as for now the plot is building I as the main obstacle to K's arc, but I actually think he's a middle boss. There are a lot of dynamics in the Zoldyck con

family we ignore. K's chart of the family relationships is incomplete, for example there's no mention of Karte's feelings for him, while we know them. Plus, the fact the adults like Silva have assumed a passive role towards K is a hint to me that things are still proceeding in a frame they can tolerate and control. In short I think right now K is living I as his greatest enemy, but that he probably isn't and the adults in his family will be. If they'll have a reconciliation I don't know. Meta an

I laughed out loud about Leorio as the Saiko of HxH because... dear God it’s true lol. Yeah, I think I agree with you about how the adult antagonist trio is set up vs the protagonists, but yeah, Silva is kind of lurking in the background in a way that gives me some hope for Illumi (who is definitely an antagonist right now--why do I love all the antagonists in this series?), though I agree that I don’t know whether or not that means they’d reconcile exactly.
