Hunger Games Headcannons Part 1

Snow killed Gaul before or during the 25th games during his first year as head Gamemaker. Dr Gaul however saw it coming and put something in her drink to make the poison immune to the antidote so Snow ended up with the mouth scars.

There were more than 7 victors that survived the 2nd rebellion . One was the 72nd victor and another was the 42nd victor. They didn’t show up to Coin's meeting because they were still unsure if it was safe for them to come out to the public. We know that 59 victors were alive during the 75th hunger games and that 18 died in the Thrid quarter quell. We know that 2 died later ( Finnick and Lyme ) and there were 7 remaining victors . Therefore there were 32 unknown victors that were alive by the 75th and could possible have been killed during the purge. I struggle to believe all 32 of them were found and killed by the Capitol or Rebels. At least 5 and at most 15 of the 32 unknown victors survived the war but didn't show up to Coin's meeting.

The winner of the 42nd game was a male from district 5. He won in an unique way by befriending the careers during training and in the arena he was able to manipulate the careers into turning on eachother. He went into hiding during Mockingjay and survived the Victor's purge and 2nd rebellion.

The capitol and the career districts are very accepting of queer relationships while some of the outlying districts (9,10,11) and district 13 are very conservative. The male tribute from District 10 was voted in during the 1st quarter quell for being queer.

They are branches of the Covey that survived in other districts in Panem (3,8,9,11,12). I headcannon that the female district 11 tribute during the first quarter quell was voted in for being Covey and therefore an outsider.

District 10 has a surprising advantage in the games as their tributes know how to use weapons (knives, whips ) and know how to kill. The district has 5 victors and their tributes make it very far. That's why they are targeted by the careers first.

There are still some pockets of religion in Panem especially in the non-career districts. The district 11 male was voted in for the first quarter quell for being an open disbeliever of his district's faith.

The First Quarter Quell winner died during the year of the 72nd games. She was the female tribute from District 10. She was voted in by her district for being a thief. She died aged 62 from an overdose of morphling. She had 8 children and 5 grandchildren. She had lots of children as she knew some were going to be reaped for the games. 3 of her children were reaped and died in the games. One of her children was reaped and died in the 50th games. Katniss learns about her story after the 2nd rebellion when a relative of hers visits District 12.

District 10 has 4 victors by the 75th games ( One dying 3 years prior) . One of their victors won the 72nd games. She wasn't reaped during the third quarter quell and survived the 2nd rebellion and purge as she went into hiding during the start of the war.

Some people in District 13 have Greek names.

The mayor of District 9 during the 74th games was a victor. He was appointed by the Capitol. He died in the third quarter quell.

Victors are allowed to marry the peacekeepers in their district. One of the victors of district 5 was married to the head peacekeeper.

Titus was in Annie's games. He has a Roman Name as his father was a peacekeeper from the Capitol

The sound of waves lapping gently against the shore echoed in the distance as the sun bathed the world in a golden glow. The large house by the water, once a sanctuary in a world of chaos, was now filled with the warmth of a family’s love and the echoes of laughter. Six years had passed since the end of the games, a time of darkness that seemed like a distant memory now.

In the living room, the air was filled with joy as Finnick chased his son, Atlantis, around the room. The boy's small legs moved as fast as they could, his laughter ringing through the house. His bright eyes sparkled with the thrill of the chase, and Finnick’s heart swelled with love as he pretended to struggle to catch him.

Y/N stood in the archway, her two-year-old daughter, Clarity, nestled in her arms. A soft smile graced her lips as she watched her two boys play. She looked down at Clarity, who was watching the scene with wide eyes. “Aren’t they just being silly?” Y/N giggled, brushing a strand of hair from her daughter's face.

Clarity let out a small, delighted squeal, her tiny hands clapping together. The sound caught Atlantis’s attention, and he changed direction, running straight for his mother. “Mamma!” he giggled, his little feet pounding against the wooden floor as he made his way to her.

Y/N knelt down, wrapping one arm around Atlantis as he reached her, pulling both of her children close. Finnick came up behind them, placing a gentle hand on Y/N’s shoulder. He leaned down, pressing a kiss to the top of her head, his heart overflowing with gratitude for the life they had built together.

“You know,” Finnick said softly, his voice filled with emotion, “everything I did… everything I went through, was to get to you. To get to this.” His words were a quiet echo of those of his father to his mother, they hold a love that had once resonated with him in a different time—a time when he had fought not just for his own survival, but for the hope of a future filled with love.

Y/N looked up at him, her eyes shining with unshed tears. “I know,” she whispered. “And I’m so glad you did.”

The world outside may have been unpredictable, but within these walls, they had found their sanctuary. They had found peace. And as the laughter of their children filled the room, it was clear that every struggle, every hardship, had led them to this moment—a moment where love was the only thing that mattered.

In that small house by the water, the past was just a memory, and the future was a bright, beautiful canvas waiting to be filled with the colors of their love. Together, they had overcome the darkness, and together, they would continue to build a life full of light, laughter, and endless love.

This was the future they had both wished for and now they have it and can't wait to see where it takes them.

possibly controversial hunger games take:

people who say Foxface’s death was a suicide bother me. the main reason people theorize this is because of a background shot where Foxface is playing a plant identification game in the movie.

first, it was a minor shot with very little focus; therefore, it is likely not a major characterization.

second, i treat the book as the biblical canon. a minor detail in the movie does not trump book canon. these scene of her identifying plants is not in the book. furthermore, her theft of food to survive is a major detail of her character that shows her cunningness. she steals from the careers’ pile; she nicks from peeta’s berries. her body in the book is described as emaciated. while this could mean she was frail from illness, the word is more often used to describe someone thin and frail from hunger. she did not have the skills to find food herself. she wouldn’t have known the berries were poison. if she had the skills to know this, she wouldn’t have had to risked theft.

yes, she was smart and clever. but her descriptions are based heavily on Katniss’s perceptions of her. by theorizing suicide readers are misreading the traits and knowledge of Foxface. a large detail such as suicide would come with a major message, but instead, they are overestimating her; something Katniss herself thought was dangerous.

I admit I don't have many headcanons for district 12 considering that it's the district that we know the most about so I don't have much thoughts about it sorry 😔

For district 10 I headcanon that it's heavily policed like district 11 there are peacekeepers who guard the slughterhouses to ensure that the workers don't take any of the meat that is requested by the capitol and the butchers are searched before leaving the slughterhouse they are only allowed to take the small scraps or the parts of the animals that the capitol doesn't want

It's also surrounded by mountains where there are deadly matts the people of 10 got used to surviving them by either hunting them and skinning them then they wear their fur or they put the mutts blood on their faces these are tricks used so that other mutts don't attack them this practice is seen by the capitol as a grotiscue and barbaric act but for district 10 it's a way to survive

For district 5 I headcanon that it's divided into two sections the wealther section is named voltspire and it's people are from European descent and consist of factory managers , engineers and scientists

The poorer section is called forgepoint and it's citizens are of south east Asian descent and there are parts of that culture that survived there especially the Naga and some of its traditional dancing they are the working class of the district and are responsible for maintaining the PowerPoints

Fun fact: I came up with this headcanon because I noticed how in the first movie and tbosas the actor that was cast as the male tribute of district 5 seemed south east Asian (idk if they actually are ) and because I headcanon that Hy was poorer than sol that idea came

Christianity survived in parts of each of 5 and 10 and I like @persephoneprice headcanon that there were parts of Christianity that survived in 12 but it dwindled over the years because of people dying young

ENOBARIA ♡

My first impression: unlike with clove i was intrigued by eno from the start especially when katniss straight up said she ripped out someone's throat and i immediately began rooting for her

My impression now: i adored meta golding playing her, she's one of my favorite district 2 girls ever and i love the balance between her being deadly and vicious and loyal because thats what her culture taught her while at the same time wanting revenge for her mistreatment by the capitol

Favorite thing about that character: her teeth and what she did, but it doesn't define her, it emphasizes how ruthless and strong she is which is why i like it

Least favorite thing: there is nothing wrong with her, especially because honestly she presented herself as a lot more civilized and mature than cato and clove did - which makes sense since they were teenagers taught to enjoy brutality and we all know how teens act, but eno just didnt have the same problem of arrogance and could be cutthroat without accidentally coming off as an unempathetic cold hearted jerk

Favorite line/scene: let them have a taste of their own medicine - what i adore about suzanne collins is that with even one powerful line she can completely change how a character is perceived, and thats so clearly true in the case of the district 2 characters who seem to be one thing but then end up having a secreg deeper complexity that katniss didnt notice

Favorite interaction that character has with another: baring her teeth at katniss as an intimidation tactic will never not be funny

A character that I wish that character would interact with more: i would have given an arm to actually see her mentor clove

Another character from another fandom that reminds me of that character: mazikeen smith from lucifer - both badass women of color that hurt people but also deep down have some kind of emotional struggle

A headcanon about that character: i might be a basic bitch in that i think for the most part the teeth thing was done without her consent while she was sleeping/in surgery after her Games, but its also plausible she did it on purpose - not to scare off sex traffickers but as some kind of weird guilt response?

A song that reminds me of that character: Teeth by 5 Seconds of Summer and/or Carry On by The Score (i think that this song relates to all d2 tributes in general)

An unpopular opinion about that character: idk that I really have one sorry shes not particularly controversial as far as fandom goes and everyone's takes on her are for the most part usually pretty solid/defensible

FOXFACE ♡

My first impression: i don't remember because it was a long time ago but i don't think i had any significant thoughts about her other than whatever katniss said which was basically okay she's a sly redhead with a thing for botany

My impression now: i don't spend a lot of time thinking about her but i think she could be a potentially interesting character to examine especially how she thinks since katniss praises her intelligence

Favorite thing about that character: she's really smart and nimble which is cool

Least favorite thing: i don't have one she is extremely not at all controversial

Favorite line/scene: in the movies i liked her at the plant stations, in the books it was the thing with like the career pack's cornucopia mines and how she managed to outsmart whatever the d3 kid did to it

Favorite interaction that character has with another: she has not talked or allied with anyone ever as far as we know. her bumping into katniss in the movie was pretty funny - although i can't remember if that was a blooper/deleted scene or not.

A character that I wish that character would interact with more: ......... yeah can you tell i never think about her, but oddly enough my weird pairing is glimmer/foxface

Another character from another fandom that reminds me of that character: I'm at a loss for how to answer this so ignore

A headcanon about that character: she must be really into solving puzzles as a hobby

A song that reminds of that character: the brain is not braining for this one i haven't thought about foxface in years

An unpopular opinion about that character: the berries thing probably wasn't suicide, i get the logic of where that comes from but me personally if i was close to ending the games a winner i would just wait all of it out. maybe she didn't recognize nightlock because it just didn't appear at the plant station? anyways the point was that katniss overestimated her.

I am reading the script for the Hunger Games movie. I wanted to look something up for the fic (didn't find that thing) but I did find out that Foxface is named "Marissa." (Why did people tell me she was called "Finch" in the script?)

And the male ribute from 4 is "Bravura." (How would you even shorten that for a nickname? "Bra" sounds wrong.)

These both seem wrong to me but Suzanne Collins was cowriter so now I feel like I should use those names....

Just out of interest if you were to assign every district a probability of having their tribute be victor what would it be?

I'm leaning towards-

District 1 (Luxury Goods): 25%

District 2 (Masonry and Defence): 30%

District 3 (General Electronics): 3%

District 4 (Fishing): 10%

District 5 (Power/Electricity): 4%

District 6 (Transportation): 4%

District 7 (Lumber): 5%

District 8 (Textiles): 3%

District 9 (Grain): 3%

District 10 (Livestock): 5%

District 11 (Agriculture): 5%

District 12 (Mining): 3%

I reckon in earlier games we'd see more of a lean towards Districts with either physical strength or proclivities towards weapons, namely Districts 2, 4, 7, 10 and 11, but once the Career Academies get set in place and Districts 1 and 2 become the powerful tributes they are in the original trilogy this would be the overall outcome.

District 5 is known for being... kinda just there. Not massively rebellious, not massively rich but more in the Capitol's favour than the more outlying districts. I think this higher level of neutrality and less agitation to either side could be important though. Gain less attention, gain less retaliation. In a war footing, the district would obviously be targeted for its important resources in order to cut them off from the other side, like dams and such. And of course destroying them would have an affect on the nearby populations, but not nearly as much as if other parts were targeted.

Like a nuclear powerplant. If that were bombed, destroyed, exploded - the fall out would be catastrophic for the whole region surrounding it, even the district. Purely strategic forces from a side in conflict I suggest would know this and so avoid causing this to avoid unnecessary harm, including to any forces they have stationed there. But forces aiming to target the population as retaliation or punishment for their actions, especially in a state like Panem... might have different aims.

So I can see why Five might be more loyal than others. Keep in the good graces of the Capitol, but not enough to be targeted cruelly by rebels.
