on my first pass, i was suspicious and thought that, surely, lou lou was sent to find haymitch by the gamemakers in her ear. and, of course, i still think that’s a very viable explanation…

however, on my reread, it just occurred to me that the much sadder explanation could be that as wyatt sacrificed his life to protect her, he may have—in his last moments—told lou lou to find haymitch, knowing that haymitch would do his best to protect her despite how he insisted on going it alone

Doesn't Haymitch kill three kids in the arena? Two from District 4 right before reuniting with Maysilee, and then Silka at the end?

Even if you don't consider SIlka (since it was the force field that threw back her axe at her) he could blame himself for the death of three kids: Lou Lou, Ampert, and Wellie. Lou Lou he couldn't protect, Ampert was killed because Haymitch interfered, and Wellie he abandoned - or at least that's what his traumatized mind could make of things. Maysilee's death impacted him too, but I don't think he blames himself for that one - more that he couldn't join her in death.

Then he was joined by three coffins on his way back home.

And then he lost three more people he loved.

None of that was really his fault, but it really went in threes, huh.

what makes Snow such a formidable villain within THG universe is that nothing he does was set in stone. there was no sense of inevitability about his actions and his brutality. Snow had enough perspective of poverty, capital cruelty, district hunger and not to mention his own arena experience’ and yet he actively chose at every moment to stray from natural goodness. its even more terrifying in the sense that he had the ability to care. Snow is not a mindless sociopath, he displays feelings to others such as sejanus, lucy grey and tigris but ultimately he will always choose himself. his ability to betray those he cared about in order yo advance himself makes him so much more than the stereotypical villain who is forced into his actions.

Hmm actually Lucy Gray is different from Haymitch and Katniss and Peeta because her tragedy is she caused the games to continue. If the games hadn't become entertaining, they wouldn't have continued and she made it entertaining because she was an entertainer - she saved herself but she doomed dozens more because she performed too well and it allowed the Capitol to make the games a performance in the later years. Haymitch's tragedy is that he couldn't end the games, Lucy Gray's is that she continued them.

I could see Lenore Dove or Woodbine Chance being possible candidates too.

As i am rereading tbosas i had a thought that Maysilee and Wyatt were doomed in every narrative. Had they lived during the First Quarter Quell timeline, when district citizens chose their own tributes, they would have been reaped as well.

So we're supposed to choose our own tributes, huh? How about that meanest girl in town, Maysilee Donner, who moves around the town looking down at us, flaunting her jewellery and money? Well, you're in for a surprise Miss Donner, all the money cant buy you power over us. Who's the superior one now, Miss Donner? Good luck in the games.

And how about we teach that old Jethro Callow a thing or two about betting on seam kids? Lets see how willing he is to bet when it's his own son that is in the game. The son is likely involved in the betting as well, so no innocent life is being sacrificed in the process.

Meanwhile as soon as they were given a chance, both Maysilee and Wyatt reverted the expectations. The "meanest girl in town" taking care of all the underdogs in the games, being an older sister and showing great care for them when nobody else would, and the "heartless" booker boy sacrificing his chances for a person he barely knew. A true don't judge a book by its cover.

Thinking about how Wyatt Callow is proof that Dr. Gaul’s and Snow’s assertion that humanity’s essential nature is violent (which is part of their argument for the Capitol’s control being necessary) is false. That “What happened in the arena? That’s humanity undressed… A boy with a club who beats another boy to death. That’s mankind in its natural state.” is false.

I’m sure he had it all calculated. He knew exactly what choices would give him the best odds of survival. He knew that the faster he got out of the initial bloodshed the better his chances would be. He knew that letting other kids die would benefit his odds of survival. He knew exactly what he should’ve done to preserve himself.

And yet, he threw all those statistics and odds, all that reason and logic out the window in the name of protecting Lou Lou, a girl that wasn’t even from his district. He threw it all out the window in the name of helping another human being that was in an unfair situation and had worse odds than him. He knew who the real enemy was; he knew it wasn’t the other kids being taken advantage of by the Capitol just like him.

That is humanity.

My prediction for the remaining tributes in the 1QQ

16. Taurus

15. Robin . You said she outlasts a major characters so I'm guessing it was Taurus . The second cannon was her. Think she was a kill by the remaining try hards mainly Polina and Garde

14. Sheelin . I think the Try Hards and Bad Kids Gangs will confront each other. Now that the Try Hards lost half their team the bad kids gang will be equally matched to them . Although the bad kids have more tributes and the power of numbers the try hards have better trained tributes therefore it would be an even match . Each team loses 1 tribute . Sheelin dies when Everest and Carmen strangle him.

13. Everest . Polina kills him during the fight enraged he killed Sheelin

12. Juniper . Thinking of putting Cypress before her but I doubt 2 POV's will die before their district partner . Cypress accidently kills her.

11. Cypress. I think 1 more POV won't make it to the top 10 . He ends his life due to guilt killing Juniper. His story will be similar to Cyparissus in greek mythology who accidentally killed his beloved Stag. Juniper is the Stag .

10. Wheaton . Either he is killed by Evelyn for trying to hurt her or by Claudia for similar reasons . Although I could see Beau making an appearance and killing Wheaton just before he tries to hurt the girls in order to get into Claudia's good graces. You said his death is unexpected .

9. Beau . Killed by Claudia or Evelyn

8. Carmen . Greason turns on her and Isak runs away ?

7. Lexie . Killed By Minotaur not before making an alliance with Claudia and Evelyn

6. Garde . Polina kills him

5. Polina . Greason Kills her

I have a question about SotR. Spoilers.

The graves that Burdock shows Haymitch are for Maude Ivory, Lucy Gray and Lenore Dove. Is Lucy Gray’s empty or did the uncles find her body? Or did she live and maybe SHE was Lenore Dove’s mother? It has to be either Barb Azure or Lucy Gray for her to be a Baird cousin to Burdock (here I assume that Maude Ivory is Burdock’s mother).

This is bothering me. Did I miss any clues?

The biggest alternation to my headcanon is that Mr Everdeen is called “Burdock.” I know it’s a plant and it fits the naming convention, but that’s a rough one. Hard to scream out during sex, poor Mrs Everdeen. No wonder Katniss never uses his given name.

What was the trade of the Maloret and Praire family . I think the Prarie's would make good blacksmiths ? Don't think the Maloret family were a typical merchant family. Maybe her father was the deputy mayor? Also I think the Merchant class in 12 is a lot like the black family or pure bloods in Harry potter as they marry within their own group and practice inbreeding since there is only around 800 of them in 12 . It will be interesting if Peter's family is related to the Prarie's as 2nd cousins .
