Donald Duck Rings in 90th Anniversary with New Hand-Drawn Animated Short "Donald Duck in D.I.Y. Duck"
Debuting on Disney+ as well as Walt Disney Animation Studios’ YouTube, Disney Channel, and Freeform, this short finds Donald trying his hand at some home repairs which begin with the replacement of a light bulb and quickly turn into a series of comic catastrophes.
His temper flares and his frustration grows as things spiral out of control and lead to an explosive finale.
Incoming Disney Legend and renowned animator Mark Henn wrote and directed D.I.Y. Duck as his last project before retiring from the company in December 2023. The short is produced by Emmy® Award-winner Dorothy McKim and was created by the hand-drawn animation team at Walt Disney Animation Studios. Jennifer Lee, Disney Animation’s chief creative officer, executive produced.
The short also pays tribute to Disney Legend Clarence “Ducky Nash, who originated the voice of Donald for his first 50 years, and who delivers the character’s vocal gestures and assorted wise quacks by way of archival voice recordings.

The Diary of Penny Polendina
The other day I was inspired to try working on a different NeverFell Projects installment, one that would probably be a lot shorter and quicker to write, because it's not like I care that deeply about Penny, right??
Well, I was incredibly wrong. ^^; So wrong that I'm actually having trouble with this story now...essentially, Penny goes through a bit of a 'rebellious phase' (gross oversimplification, but that's all you get for now) and there are, surprisingly, a lot of aspects of that character arc that I want to explore. Plus, a pivotal connection with Pyrrha, the climax of which I haven't quite figured out yet...
God only knows if I'll be able to finish, or if I'll just write the first 2/3rds of the story and leave it at that. But I figured I might as well warm up by talking about the designs. ^^
Penny's new look is basically 'Disney's Pinocchio, color picked from Arthur Watts' character design'~
I didn't necessarily want her to look evil, just...bolder. Like she specifically picked 'daring' items that maybe her father or Ironwood's PR team would rather she didn't wear, at least not compared to the more innocent frilly pastels she had on before. Between the chest window, midriff, and short sleeves, she's actually showing a lot more skin than before, despite still being 90% covered up. ^^;
Those multicolored wrist accessories are prototype weapons invented by Dr. Watts, that mix and pressurize Dust from the cartridges to cast "artificial magic". This way I get to do a bit of the 'Winter Maiden Penny' stuff in this Vol. 3-locked AU~
Penny's magic usage is one of the things that stumped me when writing this story...In NeverFell, magic isn't just glowy rainbow lasers or weather powers-- it essentially allows the user access to any conceivable semblance at any time; its potential is limitless. Being a beginner, Penny would probably just come up with one signature 'spell' to use in tandem with her Floating Array...but I can't decide what I want her to do. ^^; I think I'd like for her to do something connected to dance, because I feel like that's something unique to her, the way she dances with her weapons before striking. Nobody ever points out how the "robot" in the cast is the one who chooses to spend energy on unnecessary movements that aren't even used to maneuver around an enemy; they're just cute and fun. ^^ I think that's a great encapsulation of who Penny is~
Redesigning Pyrrha is always super difficult, because her original design is so perfect. But I like this end result a LOT. ^^ I may need to adjust the pant legs a bit, but overall it feels like a very believable alt outfit that keeps the spirit of the character.
Pyrrha is another one of the stumbling blocks in this story, because I'm now forced to create at least one malleable personality trait for her-- i.e. one that isn't intrinsically tied to Jaune and/or the plot. Something that she could actually take into a meaningful relationship with a different character... I had the idea to expand her "I'm sorry!" gag into a real guilt complex, where she has trouble letting go of instances where she's made mistakes or hurt someone. In this case, dismembering Penny 1.0 and essentially ending her life. :T She seeks out 2.0 in a desperate effort to make things right, and ends up helping her with ...things, and growing as people or whatever, and all that other stuff I have yet to write. ^^;
I just realized that Pyrrha could use her polarity semblance to pull Penny towards her in a situation where they need to reach each other...that's so cute. ^^ I gotta remember that~

More IHNMAIMS AU YIPPPEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!! Ok so erm basically at some point in the timeline BE gets stronger and has this new ability of turning into a giant woman, plus the ability of spawning life at her will. With this, she commences the rebirth of Earth’s nature little by little. In the first drawing I included some inspiration I took for this body and BE overall. I noticed that BE has almost the same dynamic as Mother Nature from Disney’s short film Firebird - Fantasia 2000. She can move across dead landscapes and make nature flourish with just her presence. She can shapeshift back into her original body too (she’s similarly as op as AM, what were you expecting?). I also took inspo on auroras, the thermal colors of the human body, and manta rays for her shape, some stuff I found fitting for some reason. In BE’s programming, the only two things (I have planned so far) that she can’t do is to kill, and to hate. Of course this might change throughout the story…

Happy with the staff content this year but am I the only one who is disappointed with the PV we got? It's basically a slideshow of art we've already seen, major downgrade from the year 1 PV that had literally all the events. There was a drop in quality of the anniversary PVs over the years and it really shows this year. Sorry if you find this too negative I don't mean to hate I just wish Twst would do better for it's ANNIVERSARY.
[For everyone's reference, here are the anniversary PVs in order of release: 2021 / 2022 / 2023 / 2024]
Mmm, now that you mention it, I noticed this trend with the Halloween PVs 🤔 For year 1, there was a video that showed all members of the NRC casy, even those that did not receive cards at that time. There were then several short variants of the PV released for year 2/Endless Halloween Night (part 1 / part 2 / part 3 / part 4). Altogether, they feature all of the characters, including the students from year 1 but heavily shadowed and with glowing eyes to indicate ghostly possession. Even Glorious Masquerade features all of the students that get new cards for the event plus Rollo, although there are notably more still shots here. The Stage in Playful Land CM, by comparison, is significantly shorter and only shows us the three SSRs (Ace, Ortho, and Kalim) as well as the two new characters (Fellow and Gidel).
As this anon has said, the anniversary PVs have changed a lot over time too. The first one was the most animated and integrated several event outfits. The second one was also animated a fair amount, but you can tell corners were cut in some places where they transition to photographs/still images. This alone works thematically given that the player is a photographer, but you can still catch dips in quality when it comes to the art style. I remember finding Deuce running and the Kalim + Silver flying scene odd, as well as Jade and Trein's faces strange in general. Then the third PV rolls around and it only features the third years; the animation also seems to be much more sluggish (although this could be a stylistic choice; not sure). A friend actually recently pointed out to me that Lilia's pose looks like he was pulled straight from other assets; his artwork in the animation is almost the exact same as his smiling expression in the game. This year's is the most different (+ most static) and, like year 3's PV, only provides "new" content for a select few characters (the dorm leaders). They also reuse pre-existing illustrations already found in the game that don't seem to be picked for any particular reason (like, there are random Master Chef/Culinary Crucibles groovies in there). This direction, I'm guessing, is less costly and more efficient than making an entirely original animation, which is what was done in previous years. (Not that Disney or Aniplex is hurting for money to fund this, lol) Would I have preferred another PV in the style of year 1's? Yeah, for sure. I want to see other events and their outfits animated! Was what we got this year bad? Not necessarily; I think the production and editing was very technically impressive, but I'm still sad we didn't get anything substantially "new" to chew on (as someone who isn't a fan of most third years or the dorm leaders). Maybe it's just something we perceive as a deficit only because year 1 set the bar so high. It is what it is; whoever was in charge of the anniversary PV was probably doing the best they could with whatever budget they were given 😔 Let's hope that next year's will be a return to form, or that at least the money/effort is being redirected to other bigger projects (maybe the anime?).

Birthday party for Donald, Daisy and Della Duck! - Happy Birthday Donald, Daisy and Della Duck - Ducktales 2017 - Duckverse June - Week 1 - My Version - Gift for my friends
I drew on June 7th. After a long time, I decided to draw again related to Ducktales 2017, even though I'm not a fan of that series, but as they say everyone deserves a second chance. Is not it? So I decided to draw related to the great jubilee that is being celebrated these days and of course the favorite modern series by many, so I decided to draw Donald Duck, Della Duck and Daisy Duck with their family in Ducktales 2017 format, of course in my style. Because I'm not a fan of Ducktales 2017 style which is really weird for me.
On June 7, 1940, Donald's classic short "Mr Duck Steps Out" was shown, featuring Daisy Duck for the first time. 9/6/1934 The Classic Short "The Wise Little Hen" was shown and Donald Duck appeared there for the first time. Donald Duck will become one of the main stars of not only Disney, but also cartoon films, comics and video games at all. Certainly there is no need to tell his history. Della Duck is first mentioned in the comic book Donald's Nephews, and then made her first appearance in the 1994 comic strip "The Empire Builder from Calisota" by Don Rosa, from The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck. For the first time Della Duck appeared as a mother and adult woman and had a role in the Dutch comic "80 is Prachtig" from 2014, and she appears for the first time in animation in the Ducktales reboot. Also five years ago is the anniversary of the episode "What Ever Happened to Della Duck?!" where officially Della Duck got her role.
Well, since they are honored these days, and especially Donald Duck who is celebrating his 90th anniversary this year, I drew a birthday party where everyone celebrates their birthdays together. Donald, Daisy and Della Duck along with their family and their friends. Because what kind of birthday is it, without your closest ones. Yes, Donald is in the middle since he is definitely the main one, but he suffered a lot in that series so he definitely deserved the best. Finally, that Donald is happy after a long time and can finally rest. Yes, this is how I imagine the end of Ducktales 2017. And with him are his twin sister Della and his favorite love and girlfriend Daisy Duck. Yes, I also drew the characters as I like to imagine them in my Ducktales AU and Quack Pack reboot based on Ducktales 2017 as well as different outfits that would suit them quite well. Since I can't think of anything else, sorry, and I added Donald's nephews also wear caps and most of them wear jeans. Huey and Louie wear backwards hats. Yes, they are teenagers here too. :D And in front of Donald, of course, a birthday cake with cherries.
In addition to Donald, Daisy, and Della Duck, there are Donald's nephews Huey, Dewey, and Louie Duck, plus Phooey Duck and Kabooie or Kablooie Duck (Donald's fifth nephew, usually wearing brown clothing), Gosalyn Mallard (who is with Huey), Webby Vanderquack and Lena De Spell (Sabrewing, otherwise they are together), May and June Duck, Violet Sabrewing, Scrooge McDuck, Fenton Crackshell-Cabrera and Gandra Dee, Gladstone Gander, Fethry Duck, Drake Mallard, Launchpad McQuack, Gyro Gearloose (to draw alone how he smiles I didn't think I'd ever do this), Boyd Beaks-Gearloose and Bentina Beakley. And everyone together celebrates the important birthdays of the most important Ducktales characters. Adults and children together. Happy birthday to you Donald, Daisy and Della Duck!
If you are interested in more about these outfits, check out this drawing here: https://ducktoonsfanart.tumblr.com/post/742447670629744640/quack-pack-week-quack-pack-original-vs-quack

Feel free to like and reblog, if you like this drawing and this version of the Ducktales characters, please also don't use the same versions without mentioning me. Thank you! Happy Birthday Donald, Daisy and Della Duck once again!
I also did this related to Duckverse June, so I'm dedicating this drawing as a gift to @tokuvivor , @secret-tester and @queer-in-a-cornfield . I also dedicate my gift to my friend from Discord, for @puffyducks @puffywuffy8904 who celebrated his birthday a month ago, and I wish him a happy birthday and sorry for the delay! Also, this is a gift for my friend @boingodigitalart, as well as for all of you who are fans of Ducktales 2017.

While I was reading some of the negative reviews of Deadpool&Wolverine I have realized something
D&W might not be a good movie on a technical basis (I don’t even try to question that), and that still doesn’t stop it from being a great experience and an authentic Deadpool story
Like, is the plot lacking and are there holes in the story and could the emotional parts have been handled better? Yes, obviously
I keep seeing people writing “demand better” and “expect more from the writers/production”
I am quite far from defending Disney, but like, honestly, I don’t need any of that from a Deadpool movie (or a Deadpool anything)
Plot wise, the first two movies weren’t great, you could say that they were better than D&W, but still idk why people are now acting like the writing was anywhere near being "good" and this one was a huge drop in quality
The first one literally followed the most generic superhero story plotline ever. You could say “well that’s his origin story” but like only kinda true and it could have been done better and from a completely different angle (I can admit that and I still love it)
The later half of the second movie is on the same level in being disjointed as the third movie. It's a hot mess, with objectively bad writing (and one of my all time favorite movies)
Now, I am thinking of some of the Deadpool comics I read
I might just haven’t read enough, but I don’t really think they have "great plots". I remember reading Suicide Kings, some stories from Udon studios, along with other short stories, parts of the Deadpool kills XYZ stuff and “Isn’t it Bromantic”, plus many more where he was a side character)
The videogame had the best portrayal of Yellow and White but basically everything in there was questionable (plot, jokes, characterization, everything), I enjoyed it, but good God
His smaller parts in cartoons were cool but again, nothing major
Now, back to the newest film
I personally am content with the plot being bad, the emotional parts lacking and the whole thing being basically a disjointed mess
If I want any of those things done well, I look for it elsewhere
All this is to say that I feel like people are wanting to get something from a Deadpool story that wasn’t even there in the first place, is not there currently and will most likely never be there
I am not saying that people shouldn’t expect more or even that they are in the wrong for saying that the movie was bad and they wanted more, I just don’t think it’s a reasonable expectation
I know am repeating myself, but for me the authentic Deadpool experience can be described as “subjectively, I had fun, objectively, oh boy..”
I guess I am kinda preaching to the choir here, with D&W being the highest grossing R rated film ever, but still

So I watched the new Disney movie: Wish, and oh boy. I wouldn't be redesigning or talking much about it if I liked it. So here I am. And I despised it.
So I decided to redraw/rewrite the ENTIRE story. Right now, I am redesigning the characters, starting with Asha.
One thing you notice is that she seems more like an sorcerer/princess and you will be correct on both parts. She is (in my version of the story) the daughter of Magnifico and Amaya. She has much more character and flaws than she did in the movie, and undergoes A BIG character change. To put it in perspective, she is much like Belle from Beauty and the Beast but more shy and interverted. (I dont wanna spoil her change since it is pretty unique in its own way) Plus, she loves books like Belle too lol
Anyways, design wise:
I gave her a more sunset color pallet. And as you notice, she has a POOFY BRAID. I wanted her to have a braid to make her different from the other redesigns of Asha, and so she didn't look like Isabella. And yes, the braid will seem to assosiate with either Elsa or Rapunzel, but Rapunzel doesn't have long hair any more it is short and the merch either has her in the braid or her long hair. Elsa isn't marketed with a braid anymore, she just has her hair pulled back (which I thought about doing for Asha funny enough). So technically speaking, Disney doesn't really have a MC that CONSISANTLY had a braid. Even a poofy one at that. You may also notice that I gave her more of a red-ish pink-ish color for the main part of the dress instead of maroon and the reason why is because I wanted her to stand out :D I didn't want her dress to be very big or poofy because I want her to be able to move more freely + she is a young sorcerer and needs to have more mobility. The oval shapes around her outfit is like the pumpkin seeds that would reference the fairy godmother (which is what they did in the original and I wanted to apply it here for fun).
Look, if you like the movie, I can 100% respect that. But please do not attack me for not liking the movie. Its better to be respectful than dissing on someone who has a different opinion than you. If you guys are wondering why I didn't like it, you guys can ask me in the comments if you want too. I'll post another one of my fav characters that was never in the movie later today or tomorrow.
Anyways, do you guys like my redraw? I'll take some suggestions as well if you want it to be improved and I'll still explore it! For now though, this is her final design unless I change my mind about it lol.

Ok, I think I've figured out my main problem with the PJO show. They don't know who their audience is supposed to be.
My initial thought was oh right this is Disney. Their main demographic is obviously going to be kids, including kids who have never read the books. This explains shortening the episodes and shortening (or fully cutting) some of the fights - you don't want to make it too scary for the younger kids. But if this is being targeted toward kids, why cut all the jokes? Why add in so much boring exposition? And what's with the overall somber tone? I originally liked the books when I was nine because they were funny, not because they were super deep and introspective
Okay so maybe not kids then. Maybe they want fans of the books to watch this. But then why change so much from the source material? And again, why so much exposition? We read the books, we don't need Percy to explain who each monster is before they meet them.
Is it to make is more appealing to new, older audiences who don't know anything about mythology? Okay fine, we'll need the exposition. But then why the short episodes? Plus with an older audience, surely they could keep the fight scenes
I'm not saying I dislike the show. I'm glad they made it, and I think a lot of it is decent. I'll watch a season two if they get one. But I really think they need to iron out WHO this show is for if they're going to fix the bizarre pacing and tone issues
#pjo tv show#percy jackon and the olympians#like my mom asked if she should watch it. she knows i liked the books but never read them herself#and my honest answer was eh maybe. i feel like she would be bored#pjo show crit

I just read your thoughts about Scarabia and Leona's arc development in game, and I got very interested.
There's very little info on Arabian culture online, at least that I've seen, and also African. A thing that makes me very curious is about their mythologies, folklore, and also music. We know a lot about food, since it's something so universal, but the rest is hard to get info on, unless it gets popularized or romanticized by someone else.
The scarabia arc is one of my favorites for a reason, and that is because I'm very sympathetic with Jamil, and very sad how his and Kalim's story together got so "twisted" so fast (ehe). Honestly there are so many layers to it that it would take many many chapters, and events, to close the situation. But I think it's good they left the future open like that, since it's something that can't be fixed overnight.
And also, *gets down* PLS PLS PLS PLS 🙏 I love the fluffy fics, are you going to also add Bolllywood songs? They are so good seriously it's so dancing and fun! I love Jamil so much and I MELTED with the headcanon short fic where we are taking care of him. I wanna hold his precious handsome face and just kiss it all over! He is so cute I will go FERAL-
hey qamar 💕 this was a pleasure to read! honestly, i feel like both the scarabia and savannaclaw chapters were too short? of course, we were introduced to the themes and then the whole conflict—resolution mountain for stories, however i just feel like they could have done more with the both of them.
also, i think the reason why the southwest-asian and african themes aren’t covered is because the source material is literally disney films 💀 like we get a warning before rewatching aladdin since they just now realized it was kind of racist (still a major part of my childhood though 😭 “a whole new world” in arabic is delicious). based on how yana has written other characters that are meant to be from south asia, there’s a big chance it would have been disappointing anyways.
plus, with scarabia in particular, there’s too many cultures trying to be represented due to how colonizers deemed all of the countries to be the same thing in different fonts 💀 you’d never confuse a nepali with an omani, but winston churchill sure did not care.
the original aladdin movie was meant to take place in baghdad, a city in iraq, but due to political conflicts at the time (george bush a war criminal regardless of saddam hussein’s crimes. the usa literally gave saddam weapons to kill kurds and then turned around and invaded when he wasn’t convenient anymore 💀). baghdad became agrabah—but the culture is still an amalgamation of west asian, south asian, north african, and like eurasian/turkish culture. im sure they’ve got stuff from central asia too 😭
the issue with this is that from ethnic group to ethnic group/country to country, the culture varies a lot. yemenis and palestinians are both arabs, but our cultures are vastly different, with yemenis having more eastern african influences and palestinians having mediterranean influences. i personally headcanon the scarabia duo as arab, but honestly, they could be from anywhere. for all we know, kalim is afghan and jamil is tunisian—it’s all up in the air due to the original source material. but i digress!! i rambled a lot 😭
ON THE BOLLYWOOD NOTE! omg this brought so many good memories back. we used to watch bollywood films with shitty arabic dubs 🥹 i miss those days. i love that idea and ive always wanted to write bollywood inspired fics, like based on the crazy and unrealistic romantic moments in bollywood. it’s just so much fun lmao. honestly, i think that’s a great idea especially when so many bollywood songs just lead the listener through a story anyways. im so glad you enjoy my fics!!! that’s very sweet 💕 have a great day, qamar, and take care of yourself

the monkey king havoc in heaven is literally so iconic i dont get why people discuss it more 😭 over the past few years i've noticed an influx of media retelling/remixing chinese myths
(a few familiar examples: lego monkie kid (2020) over the moon (2020) and the adaptation of the graphic novel 'american born chinese' into a show on disney plus (2023)) (more obscure(??) example: ne zha (2019). im sorry i cannot get behind the design they look like the kid from the robinsons but i digress!)
but honestly if you enjoy chinese mythology and specifically the monkey king pissing off the entirety of heaven this movies great. unlike disney's adaptation of folktales, i think chinese mythology created a lot of crossovers(??) so this movie is literally a huge crossover of major figures in myths. its a delight. and even if you dont know that much about mythology this movie is really entertaining in general!! (also it was made in the 1960s so if youre into the yellow submarine or classic disney films it has the same vibe) it's mainly based off of journey to the west and the animation style is reminiscent of peking opera.
characters + character design? especially the antagonists (at least for this movie lmao)?? actually top tier. theres straight up a rollerskating child that can grow 3 heads. (thats ne zha btw. very different from 2019)
the landscapes and worldbuilding have really surreal and gorgeous art. when it come to epithets/titles these types of myths go to the MAX with them and it translates really well to an animated medium.
i cant really demonstrate this well in a post but the score is also amazing!! as i mentioned earlier the animation is strongly influenced by peking opera and they incorporate the music into the film too. the percussion is insanely dramatic and the more melodic based segments are high energy. if you havent heard a full chinese orchestra (in western films its usually only individual instruments + western accompaniment- erhu was used in spocks theme from star trek!) you should- it diverges a ton from a 'classic' orchestra and the older compositions are incredibly unique
youtube
not going into the specifics of the plot to keep this post somewhat short but heres the movie if anyone wants to watch it 💃 its originally chinese so you'll have to watch with captions. overall very entertaining
#theres another version#20 minutes longer#horrible on the ears#but it has like the opera?#idk#honestly id rank this higher than a lot of classic disney movies sorry#whenever the monkey king appears in media i have to step back for a bit. like hes used commonly but#this movie was the first time i was introduced to him so it feels odd whenever he pops up. cough. orv. cough#chinese mythology#monkie kid#monkie king#sun wukong#journey to the west#cinema#animation#art#plips rambles#plips essays#movies#movie#Youtube

Disney's Frozen is a testament to how many ideas were wasted. And how little in common it has with the source material.
If you read it's inspiration, "The Snow Queen", by Hans Christian Anderson, you can see just how little in common Disney's Cash Cow has with that fairy tale. The fairy tale had so many elements that for some reason, Disney either removed, or changed so much, it might as well been removed...
A grand adventure, worthy of The Hero's journey, not just through the snow. We Start out with our two protagonists. Two youngsters named Kai and Gerda. A Boy and a Girl.
A grand scope of different visuals. A working class village, a vast and colorful flower garden, a grand castle with moving shadows of dreams, a golden carriage, a decayed Robber fortress, a reindeer ride under a sky lit up by northern lights. An Ice Palace.
You already have two characters of equal importance that Disney could have used to appeal to both girls and boys.
Plus, with Kai loving Roses and not being bothered with being best friends with a girl, something taboo in 1844 when the original fairy tale was written, Disney could have been bold and encouraged boys and girls to be platonically intimate, and they could have told boys that it's okay to have feminine interests, to be softies and that you don't have to see every girl as only a potential romantic partner.
For Gerda, you could show girls that you aren't forced to see boys as only romantic partners, and you could have made Gerda a Tomboyish Disney Princess, given her adventurous spirit, determination, and her willingness to get her hands dirty, while also contrasting previous princesses by having her be working class, and not being the damsel, but instead the rescuer, for someone she knows well and loves platonically already, instead of a prince.
Although if Disney decided to make them a couple in adulthood, you could at least make it a "Childhood Friend Romance", not unlike Simon and Nala.
If Disney wanted to poke fun at the "You can't marry a man you just met." You can counter it by having Gerda and Kai, as mentioned before, be adults that know each other well from being childhood friends, thus knowing each other and having a healthy relationship.
In the original fairy tale, Kai gets kidnapped by The Snow Queen. Gerda is the girl saving the boy in this case. You could show boys that it's okay to need saving, and it's not a weakness to need help. Plus Disney could have made jokes where they point out the gender reversed damsel in distress scenario.
For Gerda, you could also show her receiving help, to show a woman being helped out by OTHER WOMEN, and that it's okay to not be perfect and that you don't need to be a lone wolf.
Disney had a great roster of female characters from various walks of life, all of whom have their own goals and agency. More detail is made on another person's blog here. In short, Frozen ends up ber much LESS feminist friendly than the source material.
Plus, the fairy tale had a lesbian coded robber girl! Whom Disney could have made into their first openly gay female character.
The Snow Queen could have been a mysterious anti villain whose goals are intentionally made unclear. To contrast with previous Disney Villains.
Nobody dies in the original fairy tale, so you don't have to alter it much.
You could still emphasize the importance of platonic love. in this case, between a boy and girl, without them being related.
How did Disney reject all of those ideas? How did it take them since the 1930s to try and adapt this story? It was like they were presented with a bottle of high quality vodka... That they proceeded to water down, until the vodka gave up and turned itself into lukewarm water. Why Disney? Why didn't you use any of these ideas?
