I think that a lot of people don’t understand the confrontation between Dick and Bruce at the end of Batman: Prodigal because the “I’d die for you” panel is so often taken out of context. Of course Dick would die for Bruce, and Bruce would do the same for him. They’re the most famous superhero duo of all time—no shit, they’d die for each other! The audience already knows that. The actual point of the scene is that Dick is capable of clearly articulating that truth and the emotional confrontation that comes with it, while Bruce avoids, runs away, deflects. He acts like an animal that tries to chew its leg off because it’s caught in a trap, or a child. Bruce was too scared and ashamed to ask Dick for help during Knightfall, and his decision to hand his mantel off to JPV instead had disastrous consequences. He ended up working against the mission he’d created, he was the son who needed to confess he’d done wrong and be forgiven. He’s the prodigal son.

Well, if anyone didn't like Dick's second Batman run because Jason wasn't "in character", that's a flag right there. Jason hasn't been "in character" since his origins - either of them. Jason's problem is he has been a replacement character and NONE of his writers have given him anything original. He is the real Hush.

As for Damian and Dick- why do some people have such a problem with Dick being paternal with Damian? He's not kidnapping Damian and keeping him in the Batcave until he agrees to be his son, all Bruce-like, is he?

Less said about fanon making Dick a dumbo, really. Dick's as good at tech and hacking and creating as Bruce or Babs but unlike Bruce, Dick has to earn a living and cook and clean for himself and, unlike Barbara, Dick has a dozen other cities, teams, job responsibilities. Plus, Dick has to be in a toxic relationship with Babs. The emotional psychological toll of that itself! Phew.

This is going to sound really stupid but I have to post it as I need it written down. I’m a Stargate Atlantis long time (obsessed) fan, been reading fan fiction exclusively for that show for years, until Masters of the Air. Now imagine this…..

One day Atlantis is just going out its normal day when Chuck notices something strange on the scanners. They send Major Lorne out in a jumper to investigate. As he get close, and can’t quite believe what he sees, he cloaks the jumper. What Lorne sees is a flight of B17’s. Damaged B17’s. Cue Radek and Chuck trying to get them on the radio. Turns out they are from the Schweinfurt–Regensburg Raid and are trying to make it to Algeria, they have no idea where they are, the compasses aren’t working, they should be over land but suddenly all they see is sea, they have wounded on board and are running out of fuel.

Atlantis manages to make contact and tells them the only land for hundreds of miles is the city and they can land on the piers. Curt’s Fort is still with them, trailing behind, Dickie is still alive and the rest of the crew managed to bail out over land, which was there one minute and gone the next, so as they are now over sea Curt is just tying to keep them in the air.

Anyway they all land okay, Beckett, Keller, Biro and the rest of the medical team patch everyone up. Dickie goes straight into theatre. Colonel Shepard is now stuck not knowing what to say as it appears the Forts have traveled through a hole in time and space. No they can’t contact their base or the 12th in Algeria.

The only thing Atlantis can do is contact Stargate Command (Earth) and ask for the records showing what happened to each man and plane. If they landed in Algeria when they should have then Rodney McKay, Radek and team find a way to send the B17’s and crews back the way they came, if however the records show all the crews MIA from that raid then they never go home.

Of course it’s more awkward for Dickie and Curt as saving Dickie probably means more surgery than they would have had access to in 1943 so it looks like Curt and Dickie are definitely stuck in the future.

And what if they did go home, and they took a letter written by Rodney, which they gave to Chick Harding who managed to get to Catherine Langford after the war, who passed it onto General Hammond, who passed it onto Samantha Carter so she at least knew they were coming, but didn’t know exactly when?

Anyway, I’m not a writer, I am just a bit obsessed with this blend of these two shows. I have a whole story in my mind.

• song lists of music i think they’d like or that reminds me of them

• lists of places i want to go together

• journal entries telling them about my day or how i’m feeling

• an envelope or pocket glued into the front of the journal for stuff like little trinkets/buttons/pebbles/etc that i want to show them

• habit/rule reward charts to put stickers on and pretend it’s from them

• plushie friend introduction pages so they will know all their names and personalities

• recipes i want to make together

• glued-in little flowers/leaves i’ve found as tiny gifts for them

• letters or notes from them (aka written while big) to read back when i’m small and need comfort

• lists of favorite nicknames for each of us

• my coloring pages, to show them off as if they’re being put on the fridge

• fanfic or fanart about them/us

• to-do lists, so i can feel like we’re doing it all together
