I think this story with Gerard could be headed somewhere bigger? Tommy semmed more nervous than usual and slightly on edge, not like his usual self in the past. Wonder if they’ll be another moment with them next episode or perhaps they’re setting something up for season 8?

tbf, i don't think anyone would be cheery after coming face to face with their pos ex-boss only to get lowkey called a slur. but, it also wouldn't surprise me if they're using the early renewal to their advantage and leave some things up in the air.

i fear they might be setting up gerard to take over the 118 whilst booby is incapacitated, the drama with the councilwoman potentially takes hen out of the running and i do not trust this chief guy. he gives off the exact vibe of someone who would saddle them with gerard if it was convenient/useful for him (especially if he's holding a grudge against bobby for quitting).

despite all the 118s shenanigans over the years iirc we've not seen them rub up against the LAFD brass all that much, so giving them an enemy from above would be a good untapped source of drama going forward.

now assuming bobby isn't actually gonna die (tim istg do not do this to me) but is still out of action come s8, having gerard in the captain's seat could be good motivation for bobby to come back to work, even if he doesn't want to/isn't ready to. we've got a lot of buck/bobby parallels this season and it might be nice to go full circle to s3. except this time it's bobby pushing himself to get cleared because he doesn't want to leave his team under gerard.

ofc that's pure speculation, i doubt tim knows exactly what direction they're taking s8 tbh.

1) eddie - you will never meet a fiercer eddie defender, he’s behind me as we speak. he is literally ME, yall dont understand (immigrant poc crumbling under the pressure they put themselves under)

2) ravi - does he have any business being this high seeing as he said all of three words last season? no. is he up here anyways because i project a TON onto him and his relationship with the 118? yes. also he’s soo babygirl i wanna shrink him and carry him around in my pocket

3) chimney - very confident in my top three; he’s never really made me upset, he’s so real and genuinely hilarious

4) hen - honestly she kinda gets in my nerves sometimes but she’s just like me - gay, black, indecisive as hell, thinks everyone around her is a little stupid, likes to day drink

5) karen - gay, black, rocket scientist, love

6) buck - it might be the fandoms incessant infantilization of him that ranks him the lowest of the 118 (that wasn’t just a default like bobby) but he just doesn’t do it for me (love him though, don’t play)

7) maddie - saur cute but gives penelope garcia sometimes (who i love very much). like im not saying she should be less empathetic but at a certain point we’ve gotta thicken our skin. love love love her though

8) bobby - it’s not that i don’t like bobby, i just like so many other characters more that him

9) tommy - love him but there’s no substance

10) athena - really can’t behind the copaganda, especially the way she does it

The notes on that one ask 😭 Either people really haven't watched season 1 in awhile or this fandom is not nearly as good at picking up on subtext as they think they are.

tbf i think the only reason i remember it is because of how off putting it was. I was like "are they really setting this guy up as his surrogate father figure only to have him steal his girlfriend?" because fr what kind of freudian nightmare would that have even been?

Not much in the way of story on this one, though Kate totally suggested the movie.  Also this was semi inspired by the works of an artist on Tumblr by the name of Nash (I say semi because the premise was a date and seeing Frozen in theaters) and you should totally check them out.
