It’s crazy when people say that the X-men doesn’t have queer themes when they can’t read between the lines about Nightcrawler’s catholic guilt, Angel having to bind his wings, Charles and Erik clearly being implied to be more than close friends or Scott, Jean and Logan being implied to be in a romantic relationship throughout many comics and how so many fans ignore Mystique and Destiny’s complex romance or Gambit’s strong and obviously bisexual vibes and gender nonconformity as well as Iceman and his entire character arc as a mutant in X-men 2 being an queer allegory

I'm thrilled to see the X-Men films fandom coming back to life because of Deadpool and Wolverine, especially all the love for lil baby X-Men 2000 Logan. I really want to watch X-Men '97 now since I keep seeing so many clips and edits of it. my one thing about just about any fandom ever is that fans will almost always choose their mlm ships over their wlw ships. i can’t say i am entirely innocent when it comes to this of course, but i have noticed this is a large issue that no one ever seems to talk about. if i look up almost any wlw ship on this app there is like ZERO fanart and it makes me sad because i want it !!
