Cliff Palace, Mesa Verde National Park (No. 13)
Cliff Palace is the largest cliff dwelling in North America. The structure built by the Ancestral Puebloans is located in Mesa Verde National Park in their former homeland region. The cliff dwelling and park are in Montezuma County, in the southwestern corner of Colorado, in the Southwestern United States.
Tree-ring dating indicates that construction and refurbishing of Cliff Palace was continuous approximately from 1190 CE through 1260 CE, although the major portion of the building was done within a 20-year time span. The Ancestral Puebloans, also known as Anasazi, who constructed this cliff dwelling and the others like it at Mesa Verde were driven to these defensible positions by "increasing competition amidst changing climatic conditions". Cliff Palace was abandoned by 1300, though debate is ongoing as to the cause. Some contend that a series of megadroughts interrupting food production systems was the main cause.
Cliff Palace was rediscovered in 1888 by Richard Wetherill and Charlie Mason while they were looking for stray cattle.

hi! i'm here to spread daniel propaganda shoutout to daniel :)
YES! Daniel! What a guy! Love Daniel. More appreciation for Daniel!!! Though to be completely honest, I haven't drawn him since like... 2015, haha.
Tumblr media
Are we still drawing Daniel like a stiff business guy in 2024? Is that still hip with the kids?

Greetings!
The adventurers have been tasked with retrieving a very valuable gemstone from inside the palace. Months of planning have passed and they're now ready to start their infiltration.
The first step is to get past the gardens and get inside the palace proper. But security outside is tight and the group will have to employ all of their skill to enter undetected.
Will they be able to successfully get inside or will the watchtower guards easily spot them and their schemes?

“The Mesa Bungalows is an exquisite one-of-a-kind luxury retreat nestled at the base of the beautiful San Jacinto Mountains. Formerly owned by filmmaker/screenwriter Josh Evans, the son of Hollywood icons Ali MacGraw and Robert Evans and stepson of Steve McQueen, this fabulous Spanish-style gated estate is located in the sought-after celebrity enclave of The Mesa in South Palm Springs. Extensively renovated by its present owners, Formula 1 world champion Jenson Button and interior designer Brittny Button, the property's unique style of vibrant pinks and palm leaf green decor was inspired by the glamorous Beverly Hills Hotel and Jayne Mansfield's legendary Pink Palace.” 2/3

not necessarily my typical "art," per se, but my friend @cookieg122 and I have been building a lot in Minecraft lately and I wanted to share one of the builds we made!
this here is a hidden Spirit Tree located deep within the world; one that houses the spirits of the ancient Royal Family that used to inhabit the area above. it's considered to be a pretty sacred place, so in order to protect the tree, the knowledge of its existence and location is only shared with the direct descendants of the royal bloodline.
tbh, we thought this was way outside of our skill level when we went into it, so it was kind of a challenge to try and figure everything out (especially the tree itself - as neither of us have built a custom tree before). but at one point in the building process, we just hit this "flow" state and somehow made it work? I've never had that happen to me before, because normally I hate building in general, so it was definitely an Experience.
so yeah! I hope y'all like it, we're both really proud of how it turned out so I had to share! :'D

Ever since learning that Tsubomi wants to go to space I can’t stop thinking about the idea of a Heartcatch x Star Twinkle sequel season where Tsubomi & Hikaru are a duo
Like imagine Tsubomi was on the ship that got warped at the end of Star Twinkle and now the two of them are going around cleaning up the Desert Devils on the planets that King Dune successfully corrupted
(And imagine Tsubomi & Hikaru with a duo season intro)
Edit:
And like what if since Fuwa’s warps are fucking terrible instead of ending up in the Star Palace like she intended they crash land on a corrupted planet and the other Star Twinkle & Heartcatch Cures spend most of the season looking for them and we get a lotta crossover action between them too
The Marine & Cosmo, Sunshine & Soleil, and Moonlight & Selene team-ups would be crazy
Moonlight Reflection + Selene Arrow. Gold Forte Burst + Soleil Shoot. Marine Shoot + Rainbow Splash. And Lala having an arc about having no one who’s powers are compatible with hers because her only real partner is Hikaru and Hikaru isn’t here (And then when they find Hikaru it turns out Hikaru already has Blossom and like. God my heart’s already feeling kinda heavy just thinking about that)

Assyrian kings decorated their palaces with carved scenes of horrific brutality, and their glee in cataloguing massacres rapidly becomes mind-numbing. Take, for instance, Ashurnasirpal II's account of the punishments meted out to rebels around 870 BCE:
I built a tower over against his city gate and I flayed all the chiefs who had revolted, and I covered the tower with their skin. Some I walled up within the tower, some I impaled upon the tower on stakes, and others I bound to stakes around the tower . . .
Many captives from among them I burned with fire, and many I took as living captives. From some I cut off their noses, their ears, and their fingers, of many I put out the eyes. I made one pile of the living and another of heads, and I hung their heads from tree trunks round about the city. Their young men and maidens I burned up in the fire. Twenty men I captured alive and I walled them up in his palace . . . The rest of the warriors I consumed with thirst in the desert.
