i feel like eddie would be OBSESSED with christmas,, he'd decorate everywhere, neatly of course, hand out presents to all his drivers/workers, and big presents for the losers, bake and decorate cookies for them,, wear the crown from a christmas cracker all day long,, have a whole collection of christmas sweater-vests and convince richie to wear one too
the other losers would try to help with christmas day cooking, but eddie would be one of those 'get the hell out of my kitchen' type of fellas, unintentionally being mean,, but they understand it,,
also a reddie mistletoe kiss is already a given

Dunno if I'll finish this, but have a little bit of my Flash Forward AU
Fiddleford stares at the old man that shares his name. “Are– are ya absolutely certain that's me?”
Stanley grimaces. “Yep. That's him.” He pauses. “Your name is McGucket, right?”
Fiddleford wants to argue that he's not the only McGucket to exist, that he has five siblings and a son, nieces and nephews and uncles and cousins. This old man could be any McGucket.
But there's no reason for another McGucket to be in Gravity Falls, no other McGucket with his first name. There's just him and this old man from the future who doesn't seem to have a clue what's going on around him at any given time.
The old man — Old Man McGucket — is currently rambling about his raccoon wife, which just makes Fiddleford’s heart sink further. Does this older version of himself think a raccoon is Emma-May? Does he even remember Emma-May at all?
Fiddleford never should have left her behind. He should've stayed put in Palo Alto and lived out the rest of his life as a dutiful husband and father. Maybe his personal computers would've taken off and he'd be known far and wide as a brilliant inventor or maybe he'd have remained unhappily married with none of his projects leading anywhere. Either option would be better than the future he sees before him.

Typography Tuesday
This week we present another type specimen book from the estate of our late friend Dennis Bayuzick: Fine Ornament & Decorative Material Available to "Monotype" Users published in London by the Lanston Monotype Corporation in 1924. It includes 48 specimens intended for printers who could order their types by the indicated matrix number.
From 1923 to 1967, the British typographer and printing historian Stanley Morrison (he was a principal designer for Times New Roman) was a prominent advisor to the Lanston Monotype Corporation. He wrote the introduction to this display book where he outlines the history of the type ornament and states:
In clever hands it is possible to design with one or two units almost an infinite number of combinations. . . . It is here that the printer's flower rises to the height of it potentiality, and . . singularly beautiful results will reward the ingenious compositor. The sympathy in line and colour subsisting between the ornament and the type confers upon the composition the note of unity and consistency, always the underlying necessity of fine typography. This desideratum is joined in the present series to a supremely practical convenience: the ornaments are cast on the "Monotype" Composing Machine.
Laid into this copy is a type specimen sheet of Monotype ornaments (first image) from Hill & Dale Private Press and Typefoundry in Terra Alta, West Virginia

New Scotland Yard: We Do What We Can (2.11, LWT, 1972)
"I have to be careful."
"You're big and ugly enough to look after yourself."
"Not with this little firm I'm not."
"Which firm?"
"Jimmy Sutton's. He don't believe in straighteners. Goes in for surgery."
"Surgery?"
"Amputation with a sawn-off shotgun."
"Ah. Well, you can always apply for a claim at the Criminal Injuries Board."
"I wouldn't have a leg to stand on, would I?"
#new scotland yard#we do what we can#1972#lwt#classic tv#tony hoare#john reardon#john woodvine#john carlisle#robert morris#susan glanville#stanley lebor#frank jarvis#michael balfour#peter childs#natalie kent#dennis blanch#donald maciver#a fairly unusual script; this series hasn't been particularly continuity focused‚ just handwaving a few details about our leads#homelives etc‚ but this episode features a specific call back to a previous case (Ward's failure to prove the guilt of Ray Lonnen's#gangster back in 2.5) as well as featuring a returning minor character (Balfour's seedy informant‚ a pivotal part of the plot of the#previous episode‚ here having more of a cameo sort of role to get some vital exposition across to Ward)#the plot concerns a planned wages snatch (there's a time capsule for you; nobody snatches wages anymore but then i suppose electronic#banking has put paid to it). the villains of the piece are a triumvirate of classic telly faces: future sitcom stalwart Lebor as the#vicious leader‚ Public Eye's Ron Gash himself Peter Childs as the quieter member of the gang‚ and good old Frank Jarvis (speaking in an#unnaturally gruff voice) as the wide boy. they're involving another ex con tho‚ who happens to be one that Ward helped to get a job and#turn his life around (very out of character for Ward tbh...). cue much skulking and sleuthing. it's a solid ep really but there's a brief#side plot concerning an elderly police widow fallen on hard times that sits awkwardly with the rest of the ep; it's not that it's a bad#side plot‚ exactly‚ actually it's quite affecting; it's just that it's very briefly handled‚ and stood to be further developed or given a#weightier position in the plot‚ rather than two brief scenes in the first half that are never referenced in the second

The Substance, by Coralie Fargeat, could have been an impressive short film. It has a single idea that is so powerful and its message so true and relevant that it could drive the world insane. As it is, though, at 140 minutes long, it just doesn't hold up until the end. Don't get me wrong, the film is very cinematic, with both a fresh point of view featuring extreme close-ups and great cinematography. The casting includes probably some of the best choices in Hollywood recently, with Demi Moore portraying an exaggerated version of herself, having the "guts" to expose herself totally and reveal the personality beneath the facade of the eternally "hot" woman. Margaret Qualley is a revelation for general audiences, although the advertising industry had already marveled at her in the Cannes Lions Grand Prix-winning Kenso ad, and many had discovered her acting chops in the Netflix mini-series The Maid. But here, she mirrors and contradicts Moore in a bombastic way, owning the screen and the viewer. And Dennis Quaid is a joy being mischievous in the role of... "Harvey." The film features monumental special effects and makeup that will get your stomach inside out and win all the technical Oscars that exist this year. But the film, like its heroine, sucks the life out of the many films that it references and pays homage to. From Kubrick's The Shinning and A Clockwork Orange to Cronenberg's monsters and De Palma's style of filming, all the way to needlessly stealing Carrie's finale. But while these films had a life of their own and were full-fledged stories that became classics that lasted the test of time, this one is an artificial copy that came out of them, destined to live only a short life in people's minds and cinema history. But yes, as the poster says, it's f***ing insane!

FUTURE STATE: GOTHAM no.2 • cover art • Artgerm [June 2021]
Tragedy has brought Gotham City to its knees. Countless people are dead, seemingly at the hands of the Next Batman. Gotham demands justice, and Red Hood has vowed to answer their call. Even if that means beating his way through Nightwing and the rest of the Bat-Family to do it

Muerte played by Stanley Tucci.
Holy hell does this man have a hold of me. I love this movie to start with. And to be honest both the movie and I are 30 years old this year. The comedic timing is wonderful. The action is thrilling. Dennis Quad is a babe in the movie. Kathleen Turner is a goddess. But I'll be damned if I didn't fall for Muerte at a very early age. He has been one of my longest standing crushes ever. I think the best part of this crush is now that I'm 30, the character is about 33 yrs old and that just works for me. I might write a small series for this particular character though I haven't honestly decided.
