The Nine Gallifreys, My Interpretation. As always constructive criticism is welcome. Thanks go to both Marnal Gate and the Canonwelding section of the Dr Who Discord for: inspiring, helping me develop, and stress test this.

The Nine Gallifrey's concept is one of the most interesting and confusing ideas that emerged during the Wilderness Years. This is not intended to be the definitive answer rather a canonwelding enabling one that fits all of the available information. A, (crude) visual version of this information will be posted later which will hopefully make this easier to understand, (I'sd like to get this drawn up as a proper infographic series eventually but it;s beyond my ability).

Dating convention: War relative time is used in .B.T.W./.D.T.W. format instead of -.W.R.T./.W.R.T. for ease of understanding. Ardethe is not currently counted as it's a ghost world that used to be/resembles? Gallifrey. Clarity on this would be most welcome. Add Flaxian 14th note here once found wiki article.

Gallifreys 1 War King 2 Romana II 3 Flexian III 4 ? 5 ? 6 Ruling Council. 7 Faction Elysian. Starts at some point between 48,000.B.C. and 0.A.D.. 8 ? 9 Celestial Preservation Authority. 10 ? 11 ? 12 ? BF Big Finish.

Timeline 150.B.T.W. to 95.B.T.W. The Primary cloneworlds are completed and unveiled, (.F.P. The Book of the War). The Primary cloneworlds created their own eight secondary cloneworlds, (.E.D.A. Ancestor Cell and .F.P. The Book of the War). 1 secretly swaps it's physical location with 2, (.F.P. Book of the War/Crimes against History and Speculation). 9 establishes itself as a museum and technology/cache, (.E.D.A. The Taking of Planet 5 and .B.F. Omega). BF somehow coexists in the same time and place as 2, (.B.F. Neverland onwards).

.O.B.T.W./Eve of the War/After Last Contact 4 and it's secondary cloneworlds are destroyed by 1 or 2 to prevent Varnax controlling them, (.E.D.A. The Gallifrey Chronicles). 10 is created by 1 to compensate for the loss of 4, (Speculation). 5 ruined by the Cybermen, (Web/.B.F. Real Time). 2's secondary cloneworlds are unwritten by Mother Mathara's/Alt 8th Doctor's Faction Paradox cell, (.E.D.A. Ancestor Cell). 2 is destroyed by the 8th Doctor, (.E.D.A. The Ancestor Cell). 1 defeats an all out Enemy attack but high end technology is erased from it’s noosphere, (.F.P. The Book of the War). BF somehow remains out of the war despite being in Kasterborous, (.B.F. audios).

Around the Battle of Mutter's Cluster 9 and it’s secondary cloneworlds are destroyed by the Enemy to prevent any of the others from utilising their high technology cache, (Speculation). Afterwards the remaining Gallifreys unite with 1 as the coordinater, (.F.P. The Book of the War). 11 is created by 1 to compensate for the loss of 5 or 9, (Speculation).

After the Battle of Delphon to the conflict's, "end" (Depends on when .E.D.A. The Taking of Planet occurs). All nine Gallifreys and there cloneworlds were destroyed by the end of the War. (.E.D.A. The Adventuress of Henrietta Street) 12 is created by 1 to compensate for the loss of 9, (Speculation). 1 is maybe destroyed soon after to explain why no Primary cloneworld is created to compensate for the later loss of 8, (Speculation). Primaries: 1,3,10,11, and 12 are destroyed. 6 and 7 are ruined, (Speculation) Secondaries: Those of: 3,5,6,7, and 8 are destroyed, (Speculation).

Afterwards/NuWho 7 becomes New Alexandria Colony. 8 becomes Winkle's Wonderland and is destroyed by Grandfather's Maw. BF is ruined repeatedly then goes onto fight The Third & Last Great Time War. The ruined: 5,7, and 8 are all destroyed by the Gradfather's Maw around 60,000,000,0000. Somepoint after BF creates 8 Secondaries one of which is Cyberrazed by the Master, (.T.V. The Timeless Children). (Must have been a cloneworld as the protocols held and all linear domains survived suggested by Mr Bucher Jones: https://archive.ph/wyW8F).

Destruction count Enemy: 7 Primaries destroyed 2 ruined. 48 Secondaries destroyed. Gallifrey 1 or 2: 1 Primary destroyed. 8 Secondaries destroyed. 8th Doctor: 1 Primary destroyed and recreated from a combination of the saved Matrix and his: thoughts/feelings/prejudices. Grandfather's Maw: 3 Primaries destroyed. Faction Paradox: 8 Secondaries destroyed. Cybermen: 1 Primary ruined.

The Big Finish Gallifrey Problem The three main issues are: 1.Both 2 and BF exist and are location overlapped for at least the better part of two centuries. 2.BF is somehow seperated from the conflict. 3.There has to be a Gallifrey to fight The Third & Last Great Time War despite all of the Gallifreys being destroyed by the end of the conflict, (.E.D.A. The Adventuress of Henrietta Street). Possible answer: The Eighth Doctor rebuilt a Gallifrey from scratch using the Matrix data corrupted by his own thoughts and feelings, (eg: Mr Parkin's theory of why it's Romana II not III) which included a new temporary Law of Time that isolated it's casual nexus and disconnected it from the Protocols of Linearity, peresumeably as a defence mechanism. However this combined him placing it in pre War era Kasterborous, (maybe around 3652?) as a result of him still not thinking clearly/fully and the multi continuity mess that is his timeline caused 2 to be gradually oxbowed until it's destruction which was a fixed point in time effectively placing .B.F. from that point on in the post War era and experiencing their own seperate version of the Arckhetryx Incident, (It happened twice in the same spacetime location )

Notes 9 and it's secondary cloneworlds have to be destroyed after the failed attack on 1 otherwise erasing the high level tech knowledge from 1's noosphere is pointless. The Battle of Delphon is placed after The Battle of Muster's Cluster. 10, 11, and 12 existed as military bases: loomstacks, chronoforges, and training academies. As NuWho Doctor seems to think he's from BF rather then 1 maybe the Tardis quietly rewrites his biodata ao that he is from whichever Gallifrey is in Kasterborous at the time. The fact .B.F. is partially shaped by the Eighth Doctor's thoughts and feelings has some disturbing yet interesting connotations. That just leaves their starting temporal locations to figure out, but that will be a another post.

In this interview Jonesy talks mostly about Bonzo and his first encounter and interactions with him. This isn't long, but it's always very nice to read interviews from John. Enjoy!

Well John, tell me your version of how it all started.

I rang Jimmy when I read he was going to form a new band, because I was doing sessions at the time, and I asked him if he needed a bass player. He told me he was going up to Birmingham to see a singer who knows a drummer and that we might have a band by the time he gets back.

When he got back he rang me to say that John was playing with Tim Rose, and at that time, I think, he was making either £100 a week; or was it £40? Anyway, could we top it? John didn't really want to leave Rose because he thought it was steady work so it took a lot of time and trouble to get him to leave.

The first time I ever met John was in a tiny basement room we had rented in Lyle Street. We just had loads of amps and speaker cabs there that had been begged, borrowed or stolen and it was literally, 'This is Robert, this is John.'

'How do you do? What shall we do now?'

'What do you know?'

I said I’d been playing sessions and knew nothing at all so Page just said, 'Well I don’t know, do you know any Yardbirds songs?' And we went with 'Train Keep A Rollin' in E, and he counted us in and there was like this instant explosion and an instant recognition that this would be a really good outfit to be with.

The first thing to strike me about Bonzo was his confidence, and you know he was a real cocky bugger in those days. Still, you have to be to play like that. It was great, instant concentration. He wasn't showing off, but was just aware of what he could do. He was just rock solid. John was rock solid and because drummers and bass players have to work so closely together you soon get to recognize each other’s ability. You soon know if you’ve got a duffer onboard.

When you’re young and come up through the bands you know immediately, well he’s not up to much or my God, I can’t work with this bloke. With Bonzo and I, we just listened to each other rather than look at each other and we knew immediately because we were so solid. From the first count in we were absolutely together.

I must have still been doing some arrangements or had some other commitments left over because, after a short break at rehearsal at Page’s house by the river in Pangbourne, I had to go back and finish off a PJ Proby record which I had already done the arrangements for. So to keep the coffers full (because no one was earning any money), I booked all of us onto the session. I told them, 'You know Jimmy and I have this great new drummer you ought to have', and I even got Percy in on tambourine just so he wouldn’t feel left out. So our first professional engagement was that PJ Proby record.

We knew straight away it was going to be good and we would become a great rhythm section. Plus John wasn’t influenced by other rock bands. Neither of us really listened to other rock bands. Maybe John did a bit with the Brum bands and he liked The Beatles, but he was more into soul music and loved songs. Funnily enough, I was at the hairdressers this morning when one of the old Delphonics songs came on the radio and I thought of him, as it was a song he used to like. Actually all the best drummers listen to the lyrics, believe it or not, and he always listened to the lyrics. Bonzo would play Beatles songs and many other songs and sing and play drums because all the phrasing has to do with the lyrics. If you ever need to know the words to a song ask the drummer. We also had a love for James Brown and soul music in general. I don’t really like rock drummers because they’re all a but ‘tippy tappy’ with nothing really ‘booty’ underneath and no real understanding of what James Brown called ‘The One’.

A/N: Hi friends! Welcome to the 12-A-Palooza! This event is my way of saying thank you for sticking with me. Your support and kindness toward me and my writing is out of this world and I’m grateful for every last one of you! This one is *technically* a free-standing one shot... but that doesn't mean that I don't have plans to connect it to an existing Ezra series, so take that as you will. ;)

Warnings: mention of character death and lots of angst... but with a hopeful ending

Summary: Ezra's last job on the Green goes sideways, leaving him unsure if he'll be able to make it back to you. But you're not willing to accept that you may never see him again.

He isn’t here. 

The thought enters your mind before the shuttle even touches down on Delphon, eyes closed and hope retreating further into the corners of your heart. The captain is well trained and has a steady hand with the directional stick. You barely even feel the gear contacting the hard ground beneath it. But the realization that you’ve reached another dead end rumbles through you as the rest of the passengers offer a round of applause for the feather-light landing. You busy your hands with your bag and prepare to disembark. There’s nothing for you to celebrate. 

If he isn’t here then I’m wasting time. 

You can’t explain how you know you’re in the wrong place before you’ve even set foot on the street. You suppose if you had to, you would say it feels like something is missing - like an emptiness that gapes wider with every step you take. One that echoes with the last words you heard him speak. 

“Maybe I’ll see you in another life, Moonbeam. This one might not be enough.” 

They came through the long-range comm speakers, speckled with static, his breathing shaky. You had been in orbit around the Pug, waiting for his return from Bahkroma Green, so at first you didn’t understand. It was just supposed to be one last Aurelac run before the two of you set out in your Satellite Cruiser in search of a new orbit to call home. He’d even told you to stay behind because it was, in his words, “a job so creamy nothing could crust it up.” 

“What? What do you mean, Ezra? Did you miss the slingback? I can come to you and-” 

“No. Do not come to the Green. It’s not safe. I am -” A weak, wheezing cough came through to swallow up the rest of his words. 

“Where? Where are you, Ezra? Ezra?!” 

That was all you were able to get out before a storm of white noise filled your ears and the connection was lost - and the emptiness began forming in your chest. 

Three standard weeks had passed, and you’d spent every waking moment trying to find him. You weren’t willing to wait for another life to see him again. Not while you still had time in this one. 

Immediately, you set the Cruiser’s course for Central, arriving  in four cycles. You docked on the Outer Ring and went straight for the mining office. There, you learned that the rest of Ezra’s crew had returned without him, the smarmy expedition leader placing a hand on your shoulder and offering his condolences for Ezra’s death. An explosion nine cycles ago, he’d told you. Bad batch of phaser, an unfortunate accident. He told you that he was unaware that Ezra had any family, and that he would have contacted you personally otherwise. His lips and brow formed a fraudulent frown as he apologized again for you having to find out this way, and pressed a slip for two thousand points into your palm - the agreed upon payout for casualties on the Green. 

You would have collapsed right there in the office if what the man was telling you held even a drop of truth. Holding your breath, you curled your fingers around the slip and hoped the shock - and fear - you felt at hearing the man’s outright lie would pass for grief, and left without a word. Your heart slammed at your chest as you nearly ran back to the cruiser, wanting to put as much space between you and the mining office as possible. 

Because you knew that Ezra couldn’t have been killed in an accident nine cycles ago. He’d contacted you only four and a half cycles ago. And you knew that if Ezra hadn’t told the crew about you, it meant that he felt they couldn’t be trusted - that he didn’t want them to know your name or what you looked like or that you were important to him. With reason. Two thousand points as an insurance payout was a decent chunk of money. But it was far less than he would have come home with if the information he had on the Queen’s Lair was correct. 

Those pieces of shit left him behind to get a bigger cut of the pull.  

Despite the chill that spread through your veins at that thought, you focused on one thing: that as of four and a half cycles ago, Ezra was alive. Alone, and likely hurt based on what he’d said to you through the comms, but alive. As soon as you made it back to the ship, you cashed in the slip you left the mining office with and used the points to fund your search. 

You told me not to go to the Green, Ezra. But I won’t just sit here and accept that you’re gone. I can’t. 

From Central you’d flown to Grillo. It was a longshot, but you knew that sometimes freighters that pass through the BG system make stops on Grillo. But when you arrived you were told that no ships had come from Bahkroma in months. Hyphlon-4 was next. Another grasp at thin straws. Hyphlon had a Satellite Ring and was on the list of places the two of you were considering. Again you were told that no crafts had entered Hyphlon airspace or landed on the planet. Delphon, then, you’d thought. It was next on the list. No Ring, though, and the spaceport wasn’t large enough to accommodate a cruiser, so you had to dock on its moon and take the shuttle. 

And now you’re here, and you don’t even have to ask about ships from the Green to know that Ezra isn’t. The emptiness stretches wider as you step off the shuttle and out into the crowded spaceport platform. You walk to the railing overlooking the city and let your eyes scan the shapes of the buildings, and you whisper. “I wish you were here, Ezra. I wish I knew you were safe.” 

Tears trail down your cheeks and fall to land on the copper railing before you can push away to head back for the shuttle. There’s only one planet left on the list and then you’ll have to repeat them, starting with the Pug. You shake your head. Lau. That’s the one. 

It has to be, you tell yourself.

Ezra curls his fingers around the copper railing at the Delphon spaceport and closes his eyes. He sighs, and for the first time in weeks he doesn’t wheeze. Cee steps up to his right side, careful not to bump into the still-swollen stump where his arm ends. “Ezra?” She doesn’t bother to ask the next bit out loud. Is she here? 

She watches a sad smile form on his face. “My Moonbeam was here. I can still feel her.” 

Cee’s brow furrows as she clutches the rail, too. She didn’t ask Ezra how he knew that you had been there. She just trusts him. “Then we’re getting closer. Where do we go next?” 

He opens his eyes and looks down at her. “Lau, Birdie. If we are to catch up with her it will be on Big Blue.” 

She nods. “Let’s go, then.”

something i don’t mention enough is the fact that, yes, mahia emerga is extremely skinny... but everything she does have, is fully muscle. like, she ain’t weak.  she could --- and would --- carry your muse to safety if need be.  her wings are also powerful as hell.  if someone was falling off smth tall, she would be able to catch them. would the landing be graceful? nah fam.  probs result in a lotta bumps and scratches, but she’d mend those up. would also probs mean her wings would be very sore for the day.  but she’d do it.  

mahia emerga is strong af.  and i don’t mention that enough. she can handle herself in a fight, no matter how much she’d rather not. she flies and runs hours at a time, every single day. the little she manages to eat is mostly wild game and packed with protein... like, she’s been packing on the muscle since she was 12.  ( before that, too, life on Delphon was brutal sometimes even with all the healers, but def after she came to earth )

It's father's day. My dad is a 60s and 70s soul fan. Just My Imagination is his favourite track. When I was developing my own taste for music in the early 1980s my dad would have rants about how hip hop and 80s boogie wasn't 'real' music (like The Stylistics, The Delphonics, The Chi-lItes, The Drifters etc. are proper music)

Singer and drummer Earl Young founded The Trammps, he was also the Young in the Baker-Harris-Young production team that wrote, arranged, and produced many Philly hits in the 1970s, and played on many more (the kind of stuff my dad loves, the soul tracks more than the disco classics)

What Happened To The Music? came when studios were employing new sophisticated technology like computers and synthesizers to do the work of many musicians. Earl Young was from the days of using a full orchestra, most notably for him MFSB and the Salsoul Orchestra. These orchestra's were struggling to survive and breaking up, and recording musicians (former colleagues) were finding it harder to get gigs

What Happened To The Music was popular with many of New York and Chicago's finest DJs. It's a great record and I rate both sides. Here's Paul Simpson's Dub from the b of the 12
