WIP Wednesday Word Search

Happy Wednesday, everyone! I know things have been slow moving in terms of updates to ongoing stories, but I promise I am working on a bunch of things at the moment. (I've also split my writing time to accommodate some original fiction projects which has been exciting!) There are a handful of stories that I have started working on the next chapter for:

Ahem, well, actually! Your If I Should Die Before You Do was the first fic I ever read where I was at peace with major character death. I am the most delusional bitch there is when it comes to characters that I love meeting their end. Like, what do you mean he got his head caved in? What do you mean he got shoved into a meat grinder? What do you mean he got shot with so many arrows he looked like a pin cushion? What do you mean he had a "golfing accident"? J is one of my very favorite writers, especially when she’s writing Ezra and Cee and Prickle. Everything in this series is so well done I wanna scream but I also wanna disappear into it and never come out. It’s the perfect escape if you loved Prospect, if you have an over active imagination, if you love sci-fi, if you would leave it all behind to travel the galaxy with Ezra, if you wanna be comforted by that scoundrel’s big strong arms if… I could go on all day.

A fic which changed the way I feel about something

There is a specific entry in @oonajaeadira ‘s Good Things Take Time series that features the only one bed trope, and it was the first only one bed story I ever truly enjoyed and it made me more open minded to that trope, which made me more open minded about checking out other tropes that I either didn’t enjoy previously or avoided thinking I wouldn’t enjoy them. So yeah, Adira and Patricio, thank you from the bottom of my heart for making me more open minded!!

I read this fic like 2 years ago and I still think about it every single day because of all the feelings it made me feel. Aside from the writing itself being beautiful, Ezra’s characterization is sooooo spot on it hurts in the best way. I just remember reading this for the first time and being absolutely gobsmacked by it. Brilliant and beautiful, this one is another one that A) made me feel it all, and B) lives rent free in my heart.

When I say I felt every emotion I really do mean all of them. I don’t read a ton of Max P. stories, but when I do I gravitate towards the ones that flesh Max out to be more than just the corporate soul sucker (🤍) we know him to be and this story was no exception to that rule. If you want to laugh and cry and get mad and fall in love and cry and and smile so so big your face hurts (but also cry) I can’t recommend this one enough.

Shout out to each and every person out there reading fic and leaving nice comments, but one in particular who I am always thrilled to see a like or comment or reblog from? @practicalghost ! Lia is such a kind person and always leaves thoughtful comments, always picks up on subtle things in stories, and is always so encouraging and enthusiastic. The Mist on Mulholland

PART TWO: THEN, 1998

Series Summary: What's next for Dieter Bravo? After decades of trying to outrun that question, he finally has an answer that he feels good about. But in order to move forward with it he'll need to look to his past and dig up things that have been buried for years. Will it clear the way for him to find happiness and stability in the future, or will it just pour salt in old wounds all over again? Only one way to find out.

This story was inspired by Mulholland Drive by The Gaslight Anthem. It's my first M/M story - ever - and I am equal parts nervous and excited to share it.

Chapter Notes: This is a flashback chapter (you can pry nonlinear storytelling from my cold, dead hands!!) Chapters will alternate perspectives and time periods, so for this one we're going back to '98. Young Dieter (and young Lake and Mae) is very dear to me, so I hope you enjoy him (all of them) as much as I do.

Chapter Warnings: This chapter touches on some things like unsupportive/abusive family members, homophobia, depression and self-doubt.
