i like the idea that leela's speaking gallifreyan in the gallifrey audios, as are the time lords, because it means whenever romana or brax use a weird human idiom, they're not just using an idiom that makes no sense culturally. they're literally translating human idioms word to word and for this reason they sound totally bizarre to literally anyone else on the planet

Weapon of Choice

Life, love and a term spent in a medieval time bubble have kept me away from my comics, but I'm sort of home now and wanted to get at least one more done before the upcoming Gallifrey One. It's going to be a super special one for Gallifans, particularly Narvinettes!

So here's a scene from the episode that started it all, Gallifrey S01 Ep01: Weapon of Choice, written by Alan Barnes. 

I really ditched on the background here but I can always return in future to sketch it out more with a few elements.

I have almost all remaining scenes (from series 1-6) planned and ready to sketch, just need the time!

You know how in Gallifrey, when Brax shows up in a deus ex machina way, its multiple times been a "There's an old legend or story that I learnt when I was a kid... what if it was true?"

And I've seen a couple headcanons around that headcanon him as a bit of a mythology nerd, or just a kid who liked stories because of this, he's always the one that brings up this possibility.

And! I remembered the episode "It takes you away" from series 11 of Doctor Who, in which when Thirteen is telling Yaz about the Solitract:

Doctor: "Its a... theory, a myth, a bedtime story my gran used to tell me." Yaz: "You had a grandmother?" Doctor: "I had seven, but Granny Five - my favourite - used to tell me about the Solitract.

And of course, with Brax being who he is - headcanon that it was Granny Five who told him all the stories. Perhaps he was particularly close to her idk.
