When Jerry Garcia dug into the grimy guitar solo on “Valerie” during his eponymous Band’s June 18, 1982, gig in Cape Cod, fans must’ve anticipated a good night to follow.

Forty-one years later, the Garcia Estate must’ve confirmed that as it plans to release the full concert June 30 as GarciaLive Vol. 20.

As lead single - the No. 2 slot on the setlist - “Valerie” is a strong opening card. Tight band. Engaged Garcia. A terrific, rarely played Garcia-Robert Hunter original. And that perfectly toned guitar solo.

There’s nothing the matter with Garcia on this “Valerie.”

Where to start, if you enjoy a mafia romance with added intrigue, secrets and lies, revenge, violence, forced marriage, and spice…yeah, lots of spice 🥵 etc. This is the book for you.

Our FMC is part of the Belucci family our MMC the Guerra’s, they have been rivals for years. He starts off bullying her through school, it gets worse going into high school before they end up secretly together, however as you might assume the course of true love never runs smooth. Suffice to say we are thrown into their tumultuous lives, where hurt and revenge cause more heartache. A villain is cast into the mixture but has he been a fly on the wall longer than they know 🤔

I couldn’t put this book down, it’s dual POV with past interludes and sporadically another person POV. It has everything a mafia romance needs and more, well written and concise. Read the trigger warnings though. It does had an HEA eventually 😎

She looked out in the hallway to see the girl walking down the hallway. She quickly grabbed the notebook and went to catch up to her. “Hey!” She said as she ran. The girl looked around in confusion until she looked around. Emilia held the notebook out to her when she caught up. “Is this yours? I think you left it behind.”

“Yeah, thanks. I would’ve had to listen to another lecture about drawing in class if I went back.” She said as she took it and shoved it in her bag. “You’re the new girl aren’t you? I’m Lif, and you are?”

“Emilia.”

“Nice name, hey do you wanna meet a couple of my friends? I think they’d like you.”

“Sure.”

Emilia followed Lif to the front of the building and saw two boys standing by the stairs. One a redhead that was complaining about something and a blonde that was scrolling through his phone. “Finally, we’ve been waiting forever.” The redhead when he saw the girls. “Whoa, who’s this? Hey Dee, she even likes your pop.”

“Pop yourself.” Dee said, shutting off his phone.

“She’s the new kid in my class.” Lif said. “These are my friends, Dee and Heavy.”

“Hey.” Emilia said with a wave.

“Nice to meetcha.” Heavy said with a wave of own. Dee just nodded at her. Emilia was about to walk home when she noticed the three walking in the direction she was supposed to go. “Do you live down this street?”

“Yeah.”

The rest of the walk consisted of Lif and Heavy talking about random stuff while Emilia and Dee listened to them talk. Occasionally, either Lif or Heavy would talk to her to get her thoughts on a conversation. When she wasn’t talking she had an earbud in, listening to music. She turned the volume up when she heard Don’t You Dare Forget the Sun start. Pretty soon, they came to her house. “This is my place.” Emilia said, walking to the door.

Heavy groaned. “But I was gonna tell you about fighting zombies.” He said.

“She wouldn’t fight zombies.” Dee said. Emilia rolled her eyes.

“Maybe I would, maybe I won’t.” She said.

“See you tomorrow.” Lif said as they walked away. Emilia waved before walking into her house. She was surprised that she managed to talk to people on her first day at a new school.

[🫐] ✿ two very different headspaces : before the fisher king—when regression was a subtle thing—she hovered around maybe 5–6 & she's a very sassy little lady ; after the fisher king, she's around 2½–3ish, pretty fussy n sensitive. still sassy, of course, but she's a whole lot more fragile than she'd care to admit

[🫐] ✿ a part of her is a bit insecure about her headspace to an extent, or in the very least wary about indulging for long. elle isn't stupid—she knows the phenomenon of involuntary regression, why it happens when it does—but when she knows that, as a woman, she cannot risk slipping up lest she wants to be underminded in a predominantly male field, it creates a sort of barrier in her mind

[🫐] ✿ doesn't need a caregiver necessarily as she retains enough of her independence to sustain herself, but she's found that, after the fisher king, being alone is not something she's a fan of (being home alone for 4 months definitely proved this). her go-to friend is spencer, gideon is a close second, but the rest of the team are cool, too !

[🫐] ✿ involuntary regressor through & through. regressing at work is something she is really good at avoiding, but when it happens the team has their own lil protocol to assist (｡•̀ᴗ-)✧

[🫐] ✿ she doesn't use parental / guardianal terms on her friends all that much ?? like, spencer is “spen(ce)”, derek is “dee” / “der”, penelope is “pen(ny)” ... so on, so forth. shortenings of their names works just fine (but there is one instance where she slipped far enough & called gideon “papa”. this is the one time gideon lets it slide X3)

[🫐] ✿ really good at masking her regression / her tells, so it's a bit of a blessing that her friends are professional profilers. tends to get quieter & twirls her hair obsessively when she's slipping, but those are easier to hide. a key tell, however, is staring into space

[🫐] ✿ an unfriendly trigger of her headspace is sudden, loud noises. elle isn't much of a crier—when upset, she shuts off & gets snappy because she wants to handle it herself—but noises that sound too much like gunshots make her feel scarily little scarily fast ; she can't help but cry

[🫐] ✿ doesn't use pacis, teethers, or much of any other "typical" age regression gear ; she feels she doesn't need them, or at least doesn't have to have them. most of her gear are stuffed animals & dolls from her youth. her favorite is her lavender lamb, petunia !! they have matching bows thanks to garcia <3

One of Secret kings children or "secret keepers" they like to be called. They are made out of his tears. Margarita is the youngest out of the secret keepers and has a liking towards mortals. Mercury the lizard

A kirby oc about a lizard that is basically the last of his kind. His family sorta tried to sacrifice him to a god and the family got killed in the process. Mercury currently lives with King dedede and is his body guard. He has been possessed by dark matter before and lost his leg due to the process. but hes still pretty much the best archer in dreamland! He has a small group of archer waddle dees he trains. He also has some ice powers. In his 30's, lizard, he/him, bisexual. Working on his lore again.

Marco Garcia

Marco is the mailman in the town from the show spooky month! She been raised by himself pretty much and raised his 3 siblings by himself so he sorta got a soft spot for youngens.. Shes pretty close to to 2 kids skid and pump! Shes also a victim of a certain cannibal... also dont mind the markings they aint important! its not like shes accidentally a vessel of a cult!
