Openly LGBTQIA+ Celebrities
These are celebrities who have recently come out as LGBTQIA+ or whom I’ve recently learned about or whom I hadn’t mentioned in previous posts of this type. Needless to say, this list is highly arbitrary and incomplete.
Zander Murray (athlete)
Craig Napier (referee)
Eureka O'Hara (drag queen)
V(anessa) Pappas (business person)
Gina Pareño (actress)
Anna Paul (TikTokker)
Byron Perkins (athlete)
Mackenzie Phillips (actress)
Zane Phillips (actor, model)
Nadia Podoroska (athlete)
Continuing the tradition from my old blog (which has been unceremoniously deleted by tumblr without much of an explanation why) I’m doing daily posts during June to celebrate LGBTQIA+ pride by showcasing openly LGBTQIA+ celebrities and various content about or created by LGBTQIA+ people such as music videos, characters on TV shows, movie trailers, …

Hello! What are your thoughts about Mga Lihim ni Urduja?
Hi! Unfortunately I only got to watch the pilot episode 😅 but based on my first impression, it's kinda interesting but idk I just thought that it wasn't enough to get me hooked into the series...I guess? But perhaps I should give it another shot just to be fair. 😬
It's nice to have a mini reunion of actors who were part of Encantadia 2016 though ❤️❤️

Totally not related to clexa, but have you heard of the real life filipina version of evelyn hugo? I’m just gonna tell it anyway coz i’m such a sap for tshoeh, and i’m so disappointed in myself that i didn’t even know that one of my favourite veteran filipina actresses story is sooooo much similar to hers and she told all this just a year ago🥹 So her name is Gina Pareño one of the very best actresses in the philippines ever, and over the years since her youth, she was always seen with another brilliant actress named Nenita Vidal. They were seen hanging out together, during interviews, and red carpet premieres and all that. The whole industry and the audience always saw them as the very best of friends. Little did everyone know that they were romatically involved. So Gina never really disclosed if she had a husband before or just a boyfriend, but she does have a daughter (just like evelyn! She’s alive though lol). They continue their secret relationship until Nenitas passing 20 years ago or more than 20 years i think. Gina went on with her life and didn’t marry. Her career was still strong up until now. So last year when she turned 75 she gave an interview and admitted that she was with Nenita and that they really loved each other. She said that it wasn’t even a secret really just that people never asked. And what breaks me even more is Nenitas urn is kept by her at her house 😭 Gina’s even active on tiktok doing all these dance trends with her daughter and it’s so cute! So yeah I was in shambles when i watched her interview
I'm in fucking shambles just reading this 🥺
So they were in love and devoted to each other, "hiding" in plain sight but really just being together wherever they fuck they wanted, then when her basically wife died she went on but never found a new love to replace her (or at least not one she ever felt necessary to keep that close), and in her retirement she finally speaks out about the great love of her life and tells the world that she always loved her fully and without shame and just no one was smart enough to see it??? I'M????

BTS from the movie Hintayan Ng Langit set.
Year: 2018
Location: Manila Central Post Office
Year 2018. 😂
Sana! #taposnakwento #ayunlang

Unforgettable
I don’t remember any Filipino movies which actually starred an animal or a dog at that. That’s why this is so inviting to watch especially for people as myself who loves dogs.
Sarah G’s character is quite peculiar, which tells me her character is way above or below the social norm that is to say. She’s a revelation in this film. I was in disbelief to witness her acting skills in this which was not easy. A different level of Sarah Geronimo and for her fans not to see this will be a loss.
It’s a refreshing film which shows the drama and humor and difficulties of life. The special guest stars are a joy to see especially in the end (which is why you must see it)
I love Ara Mina in this film. I’ve never appreciated her as much as I appreciated her in this movie. She’s a wonderful character and actress and I am happy for her for being casted in this. I especially love her scene with Sarah Geronimo which showed no words between them but all non-verbal gestures and eye contact. It’s the most beautiful scene for me.
Meg Imperial, Kim Molina and Gina Pareño are a great supporting cast. Great directing. Great casting.
It’s a family film to watch. It’s a 10/10 for me and I don’t care what anybody else will say.
And Milo who starred as Happy. You are a joy to watch. Hope to see more of you =)

QCinema: Ang Hintayan ng Langit
Ang Hintayan ng Langit is a comedy drama about two ex-lovers Lisang and Manolo becoming roommates waiting in purgatory until they are allowed to go up in heaven. Showing them both their past and also the people they left behind on earth. It also shows their regrets and no matter how many years have past and even they’ve both married different people that they still love each other.
In the film, purgatory is shown as an airport where people will either go the a fight where they will go up in heaven or just remain in purgatory. Even the so called guardians there are dressed as flight attendants. It also shown that there is a list that goes up whether or not a person will be able to go up in heaven or not, kind of like a list of people who passed the board exams.
Since the start I can tell that Lisang wanted to go back to earth and experience earthly things again and be back together with Manolo, just like when they were young. Just with the opening shot when she watches the tape of both her and Manolo by the river. (which actually not everyone knows it yet at first since it is showed in the latter parts of the film, that is actually Manolo in the tape)
Lisang also reminds her guardian when she is able to get the keys to different rooms. These keys allows a soul to 3 different rooms, and as Lisang described it, it’s rooms where a soul can experience to be human again. First room they visited was a bar and restaurant, where they drank with the souls they were with in purgatory and talked about how their life was before they died and drank until they were drunk, since they didn’t have to worry about their health since they were dead already. Second room they visited was where the guardians keep the archives of tapes of the souls they had in purgatory. The tapes where clips of the souls when they were still alive and still on earth. Third and last was the previous room of Lisang and was being renovated. Manolo had to go inside alone, since Lisang was getting ready for her trip to Heaven, Manolo discovered that the room had holes like someone broke it and when soul looks through the holes of the room, they can experience being with the people they left on earth and be with them, but this is against the rules of the purgatory and since Lisang being in purgatory for two years learned and broke the rules, she was delayed to go to heaven.
But the reason of Lisang’s defiance against the rules of the purgatory was checking up on Manolo when he was on the verge of his death. She “visited” Manolo by looking through the holes. This is where she revealed that only reason why she keeps getting delayed to going up in heaven was because she keeps on getting herself in trouble so she was able to wait for Manolo there in purgatory. Which reveals that she really loves Manolo until the end.
Hintayan ng Langit shows us that it’s not only the people who are left on earth who are hurt when their loved ones die. Even those who die, are also hurt up there wherever they may be. Because they can see how hurt the people they left behind and void they leave behind. What hurts more is when they the loved ones on earth move on with there lives and the loved ones up there get forgotten already. But it also shows that the souls should also move on get rid of the baggage they brought when they died, because it is better to go up to heaven with less baggage like pain, anger, regret and sorrow.

There, they meet three mental patients: Socorro (Gina Pareño) the comfort woman, Peter (Baron Geisler) the orphan, and Bernie (Chad Kinis) the arsonist, and they all have their versions of awful experiences in life. Thru their stories, the interns get to enter their world and learn their painful experiences. In the end, this made them question if the patients are really the crazy ones or them.

Feel-ikula: Movie Review - "Tililing" by Darryl Yap
The controversial film 'Tililing,' directed by Darryl Yap, is a Filipino comedy-drama film that deals with the reality behind the 18th century-like mental asylum in the Philippines. The film's title and poster quickly sparked alarming controversy among the netizens due to its inappropriate representation of a mentally ill person. The poster depicts the protagonists, who posed silly faces like sticking out their tongues while rolling their eyeballs. According to its director, Darryl Yap, the title [Tililing] itself is subjected to multiple interpretations. He also shared that it was his job to put the audience in the discomfort of reality.
SYMBOLISM
This film gave symbolism to various objects, which represent remarkable ideas not just to the mentally ill patients but also in the lives of every human being in general. Such symbols that were observed include:
BELLS
Bells symbolized as weapons from mentally disabled people who they called "crazy ."The institution perceives their patients like bad spirits that they desperately need to ward off after taking medication. These people are still humans and not monsters that we should be scared of, clowns that we should laugh about, or pests that we should avoid. They need love and belongingness from this society and proper treatment that would best help them thrive in life.
FLOUR
Peter considered the other patients in the institution as "human flour." This was rooted in his dark traumatic past where he was locked in a bakery surrounded by sacks of flour while being extremely abused by his father. For him, flour is like Tinkerbell's pixie dust. It is a magical escape from the harsh and cruel reality that he forever refuses to face.
MATCHSTICKS
Relating to Bernie's story, the people who burnt his parents alive were like matchsticks. They served as triggers to start the fire. In life, there will always be people who never fail to bring the worst shits in us, resulting in some of us seeking vengeance and clinging to aggression. When this fire escalates, it would only slowly kill our positive spirits and play with our emotions.
PLAZA
Plaza was the place where Socorro and her husband, Felipe, first met. The film emphasized that some people escape reality by reliving their past because most of their life is there. Just like Socorro, people who dwell in the past are generally afraid to compete with the present.
CHARACTER ANALYSIS
Two people who cannot get away from their past: a patient with an isolated condition is Socorro (Gina Pareño) and the intern assigned to her, Maricel (Candy Pangilinan). Socorro was a comfort woman during the Japanese colonization in the Philippines. She was sexually abused, deprived of food, and abandoned by her husband. Aside from having a hallucination, direct exposure to sexual violence, and recurrent distressing memories of her past. She shows symptoms that are consistent with the criteria for the three mentioned disorders in the film: PTSD, Schizophrenia, and OCD.
The intern, Jessa Cawagas (Yumi Lacsamana), and her patient, Peter Pan (Baron Geisler), both have experienced an adverse childhood. Hence, they displayed some sort of act of childishness in the film. Peter had already experienced extreme physical and mental abuse from his father at a very young age. Peter pointed out that no one could escape the pain and sadness no matter how much the person tries. He specified that the people who did us wrong or harmed us are not the real enemies. It is our mind. If we failed to control it, it would be our worst rival.
Espie (Donnalyn Bartolome) is ambitious, selfish, and has all the privileges in her life. She got assigned to Bernie (Chad Kinis), a government-paid arsonist who burned squatter houses before their demolition. During one of his operations, he witnessed how the settlers set off his parents to fire, leaving them to die. The tragic event left Bernie with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), resulting in an abnormal coping mechanism by playing with his feces.
SOCIO-CULTURAL RELEVANCE
The film is an eye-opener to its audience that those with mental health problems are also human beings with the right to humane treatment and access to dignified mental healthcare-related services. With the recent enactment of the Republic Act No. 11036 in 2018, also known as the mental health act law: mental health has become a universal right. Our government should secure and invest in the people's mental health in terms of mental health facilities, specialists, and related services. Overall, the film sets our fight against the stigma on mental health several steps backward. Instead of picking up meaningful lessons about mental health, it only disturbs, misleads, and permits the stigma to live in the minds of many Filipinos continuously.
