After watching Cosmic Fury myself....yeah, my opinion still the same really: it doesn't really feel like an ending to a 30 year old franchise like Power Rangers, it just feels like another series of Power Rangers.

Bertie Skullovitch, once upon a time Bertie Russell woke up from a hangover to a very familiar control center. And wasted no time powering through the headache to yell at the blue floating raisin and the yes man robot she used to respect.

“You couldn’t stop at just one of my sons you went for the complete matching set? Bronze, are you kidding me? Stanley might be a bitter little possible bastard but-”

“Bertie-” Alpha tried and Bertie kept going, barrelling over the robot’s protests and continuing to air her frustrations at Zordon.

“Shut up Alpha. And another thing. That one’s descendant, gold. I’m not surprised and I’m less surprised Stan’s got low enough self esteem to let him into his bed. Except how many times are you going to use the same families to solve your grid damned problems you useless floating-” She snapped, took a breath and kept going.

“Orange doesn’t want me if that’s what you’re after. Or she didn’t last time you needed an orange ranger and I don’t think she and I can see eye to eye long enough to fix whatever stupid bullshit you did this time. I don’t have enough mommy instinct for that, anymore.”

“Thanks for the admission, mom.”

Bertie froze. In the shadows to her right were gold, bronze, and silver. Stan physically pushing his companions behind him as he looked at her with a lip curled in contempt.

“I'm gonna ask about the possible bastard bit later.” He said relatively calmly. “But I guess finding out you’re the old Orange explains a lot of shit. Like why you don’t like Tommy or David.”

“It’s a principle thing.” She agreed. “Who needs reminders of this fucking joke of a legacy.”

She realized a moment too late the wording was probably not the smartest when Stan allowed the little silver to come at Bertie while he turned to David, presumably to calm him down.

“Skull got kidnapped!” The little silver roared as she hoisted Bertie up with both hands by the lapels of her jacket she’d been too drunk to remove the night before. “Skull and Jason and Spike! We can’t get to them, and Bulk’s in no shape to help!”

“Put me down little girl.” Bertie said with enough ice to make the enraged teen actually listen to her. “I don’t especially care.” And had to promptly duck when a silvery fist was swung at her head.

“Ranger business is no longer my business.” She said fairly primly as she adjusted her jacket and hair. “My boys want to be caught up as child soldiers, they deal with what that entails. I would like to go back to my bed.” The headache had come back in full fury with the addition of this drama and adrenaline.

“You’ll just sleep alone, sleeping off a pity bender and wrapping yourself up in bitter entitlement.” It was the first time she’d actually ever heard David speak. She stared at him. He still looked ready to defend her son, and by that probably put her in the med bay around the corner. His voice was softer than she expected, but no less angry.

“But this isn’t just about your family. And unfortunately mine has only one other surviving member.” A small pause, a grimace. “alright and the clone that got kidnapped out of the past with your son but to be fair I didn’t know about him till very recently.”

She considered many things to say. She just leveled David with a look. “And you can’t even function without that power coin, can you? All three of you are running on fumes and miracles.” She stalked toward the young man, who looked down as she came to him warily. She had to stand on tip-toe to even grab his shoulder and pull him down to her. “But you were dying before gold, weren’t you? You know how I realized Stan had joined the ranks of child canon fodder?”

“Ma, get off of him!”

“Stanley dear shut up mommy is giving your current sex pest a talk.”

David held her gaze steadily, though his jaw and eyes were tight with barely suppressed anger. He smiled at him with all teeth. “I realized he got a color more exacting than orange over the simple fact that while he could suddenly lift half a car over his head without noticing who was watching-he also couldn’t do it without throwing up in the roses. Then when he got was appeared to be temporary tinnitus…well. Course I knew.”

Her grip tightened on David’s shoulder, and if he hadn’t had his suit on, he would have winced with her fingers in the meat of his joint. “Those colors expect nothing but excellence. And they’re not picky how they get it once they get their ranger; they’ll kill you if that’s what it takes to get it. Or draw out your life as far as possible. While eating all of what drew them to you from the jump. They’re parasites.”

He smiled back as the smell of gold coins and minerals surrounded them. “Fine. I’m dying. I might survive, it’s a fifty fifty chance. Gold’s helping me stay alive long enough to actually live. His eyes bored into hers “And here’s another truth. Eugene gave up his color to raise your grandson. Because Spike is your grandson whether you like it or not. We were hoping if we activated orange again it’d bring him here, safe.” He brushed her hand off and stood at his full height. “It didn’t. It brought you.”

A fic I don’t think I’m ever going to finish. I’m just gonna post it here and let it be, it’s sat in my drafts for two and a half years lol

Been working to catch up on all the Boom Studios Power Rangers comics after falling behind for a few years... and it seems like folks are sleeping on Ranger Academy?

But like, I'm a fan of High School AU's and, more specifically, seasons of things that make it a school. Yu-Gi-Oh GX, Turnabout Academy, that whole sorta thing. And the cover?

It's a great covers! These characters look cool! The pink-haired one has Vibes™

I mean like, when they split the comic I to Mighty Morphin and Power Rangers? We should have a ton of worldbuilding on the Power Rangers side and not the mighty Morphin

dear god I wish that's what Mighty Morphin/Power Rangers could have been rather than "Here's why Green Ranger M/tt is so great" and "Zedd takes over Angel Grove and it seems like the public is turning on the Rangers but wait actually nothing comes from that" and......whatever the Omega Rangers were doing on their side.

In some fairness I think they were TRYING to do worldbuilding with stuff like establishing the Eltarian society/Zedd and Zordon's past on the MM side and the Omegas dealing with SPD and Astronema and going to Onyx on the PR side but it's just held back by the actual storylines being so lackluster. The Omegas inadvertently get an SPD officer killed and free a known Ranger murderer/Dark Specter's heir and nothing comes from it, it's just something that happens while referencing SPD as a cool bonus

(Moon Palace 1993)

Rita had watched the battle from the safety of her Lunar Fortress, she watched on in horror and awe as her most prized warrior was just about a step away from becoming evil monkey Swiss cheese. While Elsa watched in amusement as her plan was just about carried out according to plan, perhaps even better due to the recent appearance of the evil white ranger from the dino-rangers time. This little turn of events could be used for her plans of ruling the future,

"Look what your plan did to Goldar you retch!" Rita screamed at Elsa as soon as she was sure Goldar retreated,

"Oh please, Rita dear. You had to know that you can't make an omelet without breaking a few eggs." Elsa responded casually and with a smile; which angered Rita,

"My minions are not pawns you harpy!" Rita yelled, getting tired of Rita's lack of vision Elsa decided to take her out of the picture and surprise attacked Rita with her sword,

"You know Rita dear, you seem cranky. Why don't you take nap?" Elsa said; after which she slowly moved her sword around Rita's minions nonverbally communicating what they already knew: she was in charge now.

"ahh you two, ehh Squishy, Baboon; take this tired, old witch to a nice comfy cell." Elsa commanded the weaker minions who were not too pleased that their names had been badly butchered. When suddenly the room filled with red lightning as it randomly struck different areas in the room creating smoke. When the light show was finished and the smoke began to clear, a figure glowing in red sitting in a chair appeared, and instantly everyone looked on in horror as they knew who had arrived and groveled the figure's feet.

"Who are you?" Elsa asked trying to not sound intimidated while standing in a defensive stance.

Everyone around Dr. Oliver's Kitchen table winced with pain as they felt as if someone cried out in pain and was suddenly at eternal peace,

"Oh what was that?" Jason said being the first to snap out of this feeling,

"Wait, you felt it too? I though it me because I ate too much" Rocky said,

"Will you stop worrying about stuffing you face, I think something really bad just happened." Trini said hotly,

"Guys I think someone just died." Hayley said very blankly,

"WHAT!?" everyone asked very excitedly,

"I don't know how to explain it but I've got a very bad feeling that something really bad just happened." Hayley answered just as blankly as before,

"If that's the case we need to hurry and figure out a way to bring everyone back" Billy said but right after he finished his sentence the house was filled with loud sirens,

"Ohhhh what is that noise?" Zach said covering his ears,

"It's the intruder alarm Billy, Trini. I need your help saving everything we've been working on, we need to move fast, everyone else meet us at your old Command Center in Angel Grove. I don't think Mesogog's control has reached there yet." Hayley explained,

"Wait? The old Command Center? It was destroyed with the turbo ranger powers." Kat said confused,

"Just go! There isn't time to explain now, GO!!" Hayley said as Trini, Billy, and herself ran downstairs to retrieve as much memory and tech in the lab, meanwhile upstairs the other rangers teleported out just in the nick of time as the sound of the entrances of the house were being rammed in.

(Ranger Command Center 1993)

Zordon and Alpha looked on in horror at the display of power Conner showed to try and protect Kira, but ultimately gave his life for the ones he cares about, about a second later the rangers teleported into the command center unmorphed with Conner's body in the arms of Tommy and Kira crying into Trent's shoulder,

"Zordon! Conner he's. . . he's-" Tommy said,

"YES I KNOW TOMMY, I TRULY AM DEEPLY SORRY FOR THE LOSS OF YOUR FRIEND'S LIFE." Zordon said with a deep solomness in his voice as Kira cried on Trent's shoulder for comfort as the other rangers tried to console the crying girl,

"Zordon, there has to be something you can do to-" Tommy tried,

"I AM DEEPLY SORRY TOMMY, BUT THERE IS NOTHING I CAN DO TO HELP YOUR FRIEND. REMEMBER YOUR FRIEND AND HIS GREAT SACRIFICE TO KEEP YOU ALL SAFE." Zordon said as Kira cried harder thinking about how Conner sacrificed himself to save her. Then hey body was enveloped in red sparks as she stood for a moment and then collapsed into Trent's arms, both of which fell over as Kira's right hand fell over showing the source of the red sparks,

"Zordon what's happening to her?" Kim asked very concerned,

"IT WOULD APPEAR THAT THE COMBINATION OF THE TWO DINO-GEMS POWERS THAT YOUNG KIRA HAS IN HER POSESSION ARE TOO MUCH FOR HER TO HANDLE AT THE MOMENT. SHE WILL BE OK AS HER BODY ADAPTS TO THE INFLUX OF POWER." Zordon answered reassuringly, as Alpha wheeled over a sort of gurney for Kira to recuperate on. As she was placed on, everyone in the room looked down on the unconscious girl with deep concern as she looked just as peaceful as Conner's lifeless body.

Tini, Billy, and Hayley were down in Tommy's lab trying to save as much of the equipment and data as much as they could with the given situation of the house as safe as it was, was being invaded by Mesogog's foot troops,

"Trini hit that red button against the wall! Quick!" Hayley instructed,

"Ok" Trini said as she hit button with activated the final line of defense to the lab, all the of entrances were sealed by large heavy steel doors,

"Umm Hayley that's great and all, but how are we suppose to get out? You know they're just gonna wait for us to get out." Billy asked,

"Well that's where you two come in, I'll just teleport with you two too the rendezvous point." Hayley explained,

"Ok so where do we start?" Trini asked,

"Ok Billy I want you to start sending everything on the main computer to the server that is being shared right now, Trini I want you to start booby trapping the lab, there should be some explosives in that corner over there. And I'll start getting whatever equipment I can carry with me when we teleport, come on lets go. It wont take those guys long to break through those doors." Hayley instructed as she and the two former rangers scattered in the lab to try and save as much as they could before they had to destroy the lab.

As the dust smoke cleared there appeared to be a thrown with a large "Z" being the center symbol on the back, as it slowly span around it reveled that it was none other than Lord Zedd who was sitting in the thrown,

"Who are you?" Elsa asked defiantly while everyone else in the room bowed and groveled at Lord Zedd's feet,

"I, my dear am Lord Zedd." Zedd answered sounding angry at the fact that this outsider isn't bowing at his power,

"Oh . . .and you are who?" Elsa asked very sarcastically,

"Bow to me you harpy!" Zedd demanded as he struck Elsa with lightning from his staff,

"nuhhhhhhh" Elsa cried out as she used her sword to deflect the lightning blast, after a few seconds Zedd backed off his blast to Elsa,

"Hmm, you are indeed powerful. What is your name?" Zedd inquired,

"Hehe, my lord; I am Elsa, and I am from a future in which you don't exist." Elsa explained,

"What do you mean I don't exist in the future?!" Zedd yelled out in rage at the news,

"Well in the future you were defeated, and well though some chance of fate I have been thrown to this point in time. To give evil a second chance." Elsa explain as Zedd listened in delight as he could see where Elsa was going,

"And what of Rita Repulsa?" Zedd inquired,

"She lacked the vision to carry out the plan we had created to defeat the ranges once and for all. She had to be . . .Taken care of." Elsa explained,

"For all the best I suppose, so tell me about this plan and of the progress you have made Elsa." Zedd asked,

"Well we have successfully eliminated the red ranger from my time and I-" Elsa said as Zedd cut her off,

"Rangers from your time!!!" Zedd yelled out in rage,

"Umm yes my lord, a small complication to me being here. They came along for the ride." Elsa explained sheepishly,

"Ugh, well I suppose there is one less ranger to worry about then but there are still a mess more to worry about" Zedd resigned to the reality of things,

"As I was saying my lord, we have successfully eliminated the red ranger and I believe your white ranger is very disillusioned by it. In addition to this when the white ranger from my time morphed he was separated from his evil twin, which means we have another ally out there for us to-" Elsa said as the evil white dino ranger materialized out of thin air,

"My ears are ringing so that means you must be talking about Me.," the evil white ranger said very casually,

"How did you get in here undetected?! And who are you? A ranger" Zedd enquired as he raised his staff to attack,

"Now everyone take it easy, Zedd this is the evil white ranger I told you about; and this is his power, the power of invisibility. White ranger this is lord Zedd our new benefactor. Gentlemen lets try and play nice, we need each other." Elsa jumped in before things got out of hand.

"Well, what's the next phase of the plan?" Zedd asked,

"Well now that that's out of the way I'm out of here." The white ranger said as he turned invisible and was gone from the moon palace,

"No wait" Elsa called out but it was too late,

"Forget him, he's a lose cannon. What's next in the plan my dear?" Zedd asked,

"Well we just follow the same plan that we have been. Eliminate the weakest ranger" Elsa explained,

"And who is next on the list" Zedd asked,

"Well he is the leader, its . . ." Elsa said

(Angel Grove Mountain Range 2004)

Streaks of red, blue, yellow, pink, and black streaked across the sky and landed on a familiar rock formation,

"Wow I haven't been here since I first heard it was destroyed" Adam reminisced as he looked around at the ruins,

"Oh my god, I can't believe its gone" Kat said in disbelief as she surveyed the ruins,

"Man this is worse then I thought it was" Zach said in total disillusion, the group as disillusioned and in shock of the destruction of their command center. For the most part all of the past rangers didn't want to go see the ruins because they didn't want to remember it that way, however some did go back to pay their final respects to their fallen mentor and thought it was only natural to go back to the place where they first met him to do this. The group looked around and reminisced to they're times there, several moments went by in silence. Then streaks of blue and yellow landed next to the group as they were looking around the ruins of Zordon's command center,

"Oh man that was a close one." Hayley said as she let out a sigh of relief and whipped sweat from her forehead,

"Yeah I didn't think we'd make it" Trini said as she struggled to gain her composure,

"With everything that we saved and transferred, I'm sure we can find a way to bring Tommy and his team back." Billy added, as everyone looked at them thankful that they were able to join them safely,

"Hey Hayley I'm glad your safe, but why are we meeting here" Zach asked the same question that was on everyone's mind,

"Well if you all will follow me I will show you" Hayley explained as she went to the center of the ruins,

"Open Alpha Delta Tango Foxtrot 1 5 7 3" Hayley said to everyone's confusion, then suddenly,

"Password accepted, welcome Hayley. Password reset to next code" a computerized voice responded as a hidden door appeared and opened for Hayley,

"WOAH!!!" everyone yelled out as they saw what was happening around them,

"Come on guys come inside this is like an emergency bunker, not only is a spare command center but it is like a bunker and is ready for anything. Think of it as like a fortress." Hayley explained as she led them inside,

"Whoa" everyone said in amazement as they saw the new command center,

"A brand new command center beneath the ruins of the old command center, the perfect place to work under such extreme situations. No villain would think to look under the ruins of an old command center." Hayley said as she started to boot up the computers and lights. The room had a bit of a dark navy blue color on the walls and a grey hard tile floor, there was a large flat screen monitor on the wall to the left of the hidden entrance with computer consoles in front of them going along this wall towards the wall on the other side of the wall with smaller monitors corresponding to the consoles. There was a door next to the hidden entrance that lead to a panic room/sleeping quarters for any team or group to get a restful nights sleep without worrying about a midnight raid on their hidden base,

"Hayley this is phenomenal." Billy said in awe at the computer consoles,

"Hayley, how is this possible?" Jason asked,

"Well me and Tommy have been working on this ever since he found the dino gems, sorry for all the secrecy about this but if we ever needed this base the fewer people that knew about it would be best because then the chances of whatever villain is around find this base would be low" Hayley explained,

"Wow this place is great." Trini said,

"Yeah well let's get to work." Hayley said as her, Billy, and Trini began to work again while the others were getting settled in.

(Ranger command center 1993)

Everyone was gathered around Kira as she lay motionless on the table, suddenly the alarms blared signaling a massive disturbance,

"Oh man what could Astronima be planning now?!" Jason groaned,

"Wait Astronima? She isn't suppose to be here for at least five to six years from now, what is going on? And how does Jason know about her?" Tommy thought as he looked over at Jason,

"ey yi yi yi yi yi" Alpha cried out in distress,

"Alpha what is it?" Kim asked,

"Umm Zordon, I think you'd better explain this. It's the same anomaly" alpha explained hesitantly,

"YES ALPHA YOU ARE CORRECT, RANGERS EVER SINCE THE RANGERS FROM THE FUTURE FIRST CAME TO BE IN OUR TIME WE HAVE NOTICED A RIP IN THE FABERIC OF TIME AND I SUSPECT IT IS DUE THE CHANGE IN THE STATE OF MINDS OF OUR KIMBERLY AND TOMMY ALONG WITH THE ADDITION OF THE RANGERS FROM THE FUTURE. THE ALERT JUST NOW SIGNALED A NEW DEVELOPMENT IN THE SITUATION. I HYPOTHESIZE THAT ONCE THE RANGERS FROM THE FUTURE AND THE FUTURE KIMBERLY AND TOMMY RETURN TO THE FUTURE THAT THE RIFT IN TIME AND SPACE WILL BE REPAIRED AND THAT NO ONE WITH HAVE ANY RECOLECTION OF WHAT HAS TRANSPIRED." Zordon explained as another siren rent off,

"Oh Zoltar it seems like what appears to be an evil white ranger is destroying downtown Angel Grove" Alpha alerted Zoltar as the others faced the viewing globe and the rangers from the future along with Tommy flinched as they saw it was the ranger from their time,

"Man not this guy again" Ethan groaned,

"You know this guy rangers?" alpha asked,

"Yeah, he's a clone of our white ranger but he was engineered to be evil" Tommy explained,

"Rangers he is moving too fast and because of his power its too hard to track him, you will have to teleport to downtown and find him before he hurts anyone" alpha instructed, the rangers fell into position behind Jason and he reached for his mopher,

"LIGHTSPEED RESCUE" he called out as they began to morph,

"White tiger zord" Tommy called out,

"Mastodon" Adam called out but then suddenly turned back into Zach,

"Pterodactyl" Kim called out,

"Triceratops" Billy called out,

"Saber tooth tiger Trini called out and then suddenly changed into Aiesha,

"Tyrannosaurus" Jason called out as they were instantly transported to downtown Angel grove, they stuck together and search for a while yielding no positive results,

"Guys this isn't working, let's split up and try to find this guy" Tommy ordered and with that the rangers split up and went looking for the evil white ranger copy,

Meanwhile the remaining dino thunder rangers were getting restless just waiting around at the command center for Kira to get better,

"Alpha is there anything we can be doing for her?" Trent asked,

"I'm sorry rangers but she needs to come out of this on her own" alpha explained,

"Well we cant just sit here doing nothing" Ethan said getting a bit ansy from not doing anything productive in the light of Conner's death and now Kira's vegetative state,

"Well you could out and help the other rangers locate the renegade ranger from your time" alpha suggested,

"Anything is better then just waiting around and hoping something good could happen" Ethan surmised,

"Dino thunder power up" Ethan called up and was morphed and teleported to downtown Angel grove,

"White ranger dino power activate" Trent called out and was morphed and teleported as well.

Tommy had been searching for a while and had not seen anything that looked like the ranger copy but he had an unshakeable feeling that he was being watched or followed, this feeling was growing in him and just nagging him so much that to make himself feel better he drew out is sword Saba and held it at the ready. Tommy walked like this for awhile then suddenly an innocent woman ran out in front of him making him almost attack out of just being startled,

"Get out of here and get to safety" He instructed as he back off from her, he kept walking and came to an open square area of downtown that had a glowing yellow line diving it in half as what he knew as Angel Grove and the other half he didn't recognize there was what looked like a newspaper building with half a sign that read "ly planet" and he didn't know what it meant but shrugged it off,

"Nice suit, but there is only room for only white ranger in this city. And your looking at him" it was the evil white ranger standing in front of Tommy across the square with his sword at the ready for a fight,

"We'll see about that" Tommy yelled out as he took a ready stance.

Okay I had the craziest idea ever that had me rolling on the floor for a good minute. And then cringing really badly for another 🤣

What if...MC was a power ranger? God, I'm laughing so hard while typing this 🤣

If you've seen the abundance of shows out there, let's say fem MC is the staple pink/yellow ranger. She lost her morpher when they fell into Devildom, so no one would believe her. She's used to fighting evil, but the demons in hell make the ones she's been fighting look comical. MC trains harder to become stronger without her transformation, and she is going on an entire character development arc. Becomes a fighter that's definitely not family friendly in terms of violence or ehem...dress code.

Meanwhile, the bros can't figure out what the fuck is wrong with the human. She keeps talking about weird monsters who shoot rubber tentacles and slimy spit out of their mouth, she keeps posing weird every time she kicks someone's ass or says something heroic (yk that pose all the rangers make 🤣), and there's sparks flying out of her body instead of blood every time she gets hit Satan is SHOOK. Also, she keeps begging them to let her go back otherwise the entire planet will be in grave danger.

So when her human world friends (a.k.a other rangers) finally visit her, she's ecstatic because she has her morpher and powers back. And furthermore, the demons still have a reason to get jealous because the Red Ranger (who, by generic formula is always Mr. Perfect Body with A Perfect Smile) obviously likes MC and she's absolutely oblivious. 🤣

Oh God, I could have a field day with this. Please write some funny scripts about this, because I need to discuss this more 🤣

An unasked for and completely impromptu review of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Pt. 1

It’s March and I’ve been in a nostalgic mood as of late. So I decided to start binge watching Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. However I thought about it and you know what, I’m going to give each episode a basic non professional from the perspective of fun and possibly critiquing the villains dastardly plan as I go. Note if I can make it through the first three seasons well I’ll keep going with all the others I can get a hold of. So let’s begin.  NOTE: SPOILERS AHEAD!

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Season 1 Episode 1: Day of the Dumpster.

Let’s begin with the first episode. Look, there’s enough people who can point to you the continuity errors and flaws in the stock footage used. That’s not why I’m here. I’m here to ask the important questions such as.....how does a space dumpster work? (I mean obviously magic.) Or how is there a puddle on the moon? These are the important questions that must be asked......but I don’t think Rita will answer me.

So Rita and her motley crew escape the cosmic magic trash bin and begin their plans of world domination.Starting with Angel Grove in California?

Stuff happens, she gets beat. End episode.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Season 1 Episode 2: High Five.

I had this episode in the past on VHS when I was younger. Basics: Yellow ranger is afraid of heights, this is important for plot as Rita attempts to trap the rangers in a time warp like she did Zordon while Finster prepares a Skeleton boi to fight the rangers in the time warp. This Skeleton boi later gets replaced with a knight.

This knight is then promptly munched by Rex Zord and the day is saved. Also Trini solved her fear of heights to save Billy earlier in the episode.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Season 1 Episode 3: Teamwork.

This is the first episode that features both the Mega Weapon thing that becomes a staple for the rest of the series. So the girls Kimberly and Trini are doing a petition to have the industrial waste place clean up their act. Okay I’m not sure what the laws are here but to sign a Petition you need to be at least 18 or older last I checked. Anyway they go to the dump place where there is no one there it looks like it’s been abandoned for quite some time while also being recently in use. Turns out it’s a trap to try and squash the girls and the guys separately. An almost ingenious plan. Honestly the only jarring thing is the Minotaur got super charged and was fighting the Megazord but ended up getting taken down by the team up canon of the season? 

Fun:3 out of 5

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Season 1 Episode 4: A Pressing Engagement.

So this episode begins with Jason working on breaking the bench press record at the youth center. The record being 1009. So all he needs to do is 1010. He misses at the beginning, don’t worry he’ll get it eventually. So while the kids are being well kids and we wonder where the script writers got the slang they gave the kids in the show Rita comes up with a brand new plan to destroy those goody goody 10 shoes. That is to separate Jason from his friends and then squash him. For this they make a buff sphinx. (U Got That begins playing.)

This is also the episode where they introduce the Megazords need of the power crystals. Why they didn’t need that in the first place is beyond me. What bugs me even more is the fact that Jason knew what they were in the first place and how to use them. Anyway, buff cat team looses and the rangers win and like I said earlier, Jason breaks the record.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Season 1 Episode 5: Different Drum.

If you didn’t start noticing the human element stories adopting the life lessons motif of the early to mid 90′s yet you’ll notice now as we are introduced to the one episode character (As far as I remember.) Melissa. Melissa is deaf. A fact that we are shown and reminded of a few times but seems to get forgotten a few times by the other characters that are supposed to be her friends.Kimberly didn’t forget and that means Kimberly gets a shadow gold star for being a good character and a good friend.

Anyway the evil plan involves a Gnarly Gnome, a magic hypnotic accordion, and hostages. The plan falls apart as Melissa can’t be hypnotized by the rather grating music. Dear lord my ears! So she goes get help. Does she go to the police because her friends were kidnapped by a monster? Nope, she goes to the juice bar to get the five others who actually can do something. I swear, the more I write this the more I’ve come to the conclusion that this is just an elaborate Tabletop game that we’re watching. Anyway rangers saves the hostages and put an end to that terrible accordion.

Final Notes: How much clay does Finster have? Infinite? Okay.

Fun: 4/5

Kimberly Hart:

Kelson Hart. Aged 21. Older Twin brother to Kira Hart. Kim’s a single parent, raised her kids mostly on the run after Matthew died when they were four, but she and Matt never got married. More of a friends with benefits thing, off and on until she got pregnant with twins. Kelson has nothing to do with his family. Intergalactic diplomat at 21. Does not live on earth, but shows up every Christmas. He is not associated with any color. He blames power rangers for a lot of his family and planet problems actually. He loves his mom and sister and family, but he can’t bypass their glaringly massive differences in opinions.

Kira, aged 21, younger twin sister to Kelson, green ranger on SPD B Team. She’s often her brothers body guard when he’s on earth for official business, but they bicker constantly when they actually speak to each other outside of work. He blames the power rangers for everything, she thinks he’s an idiot. The reason Kim was on the run in the first place was an unreformed Zedd heard about the kids and as Matt used to work for him, decided those kids were his, actually. As payment. Matt died killing Zedd. That wasn’t power rangers fault, that was Zedd’s fault.

Billy Cranston;

When Billy loses his ranger status and goes to work for Grace, Matt is also there as the green ranger. Billy keeps his distance for a while; the guy is more or less a massive dick. Especially over something that wasn’t Billy’s fault. Billy’s also not taking pot shots at his friends or Zordon over it with Matt. They start dating after the War, and Matt’s final betrayal. More because he finally wore Billy down, but Billy had a good time hanging out with him again. And then both of them had the rude realization at the same time of “I am attracted to this man-fuck he noticed-oh he’s into it” which snowballed. They adopted one kid, and had another via help from alien technology mixed with a little magic. Nora, aged 26, is a professional hockey player. Matt decided he was going to support her sport even if it wasn’t his sport. Billy quickly developed a love of hockey at one of her events when she was little. Mostly because this game is ridiculous. Though he does worry about her on the ice. A lot. They adopted her when she was five, and she’s loud and enthusiastic and very rarely is she ever sad or genuinely upset. Her opinion on things is mostly “be friendly at it or challenge it to a fight” and generally speaking the options work enough she’s never needed to figure out other plans of action. She met her wife during a game. She’s from an opposing team. Nora gave her a concussion; she knocked Nora’s front teeth out. This was par for the course and they bonded in hospital. Billy’s still trying to figure out HOW. Matt thinks it’s hilarious. Is the green dragon ranger. She is legitimately feared by most and can solve most problems without suiting up. The threat is enough.

Their other child is Abner. He’s socially transitioning, he’s 18. He wants to be a writer. He and his sister have a very loving if slightly antagonistic relationship. When Abner came out to her, Nora’s response was “well now you don’t need to steal my clothes. Give them back” which lead to an argument but not the one Abner was expecting. They negotiated the clothing situation. Abner’s not giving back a pair of boots; they look way too good on him. Matt and Billy both support him. Matt sometimes slips up with name, however he’s quick to correct himself. Billy helped Abner choose his name, and was the first person he came out to. Abner is a little self conscious about his looks, and about his public image. More in regards to if he’s going to make his family look bad. Like Matt he tends to brood and focus on negative details way too much. Like Billy he tends to strive for perfection and his vocabulary makes it hard for people to understand him.

Eugene Skullovitch;

Matt dives head first into the villain persona, and is happily doing so. He's thriving. Until he's forced into an ultimatum; save Bulk and Skull from certain death by the hands of Goldar, or vanquish the Solar Rangers. Against his better judgment, he saves Bulk and Skull. Skull, unfortunately for timing wise, had said he'd kiss whoever saved their lives minutes before Matt saved them. He's a man of his word, but he also punched him in the mouth immediately after. Matt's confused as hell. So instead of chasing after Kim, begins chasing after Skull because what was THAT. This leads to a very weird redemption arc because Matt has realized 2 things; he likes being kissed by Skull and he does not want Skull mad at him anymore. Cut to fifteen years later; they've got a kid of their own and no actual idea how they got there really. But, they're happy, don't hate each other's guts, their kid's thriving, it's all good. The entire empire of evil absolutely hates them though and Matt somehow managed to get himself on the shit list of Thor. As long as he doesn't go out while it's thunderstorming he should be fine.

Their son is ten, his name is Jude Cook. Jude is one of the weirdly luckiest kids alive. He's survived an insane amount of attempts on his life, falls, kidnappings, and things he should otherwise not survive. His parents have stopped asking how. Loki helped give them a son, which is partly why Thor's pissed, so they've at this point accepted demigod baby is just gonna do what a demigod baby do. It's probably for the best. Spike's his older brother, and is training with Loki to be some sort of spirit of shapeshifting mischief. They both love causing mild trouble. Like Skull, Jude's got a fear of flying which makes things a little interesting. Skull's got his sons and his partner on a very very strict promise; if the shenanigans could cause an enemy of something power, walk away. Walk far away. Neptune exists. We don't want to get on the bad side of Neptune.

in a tangential version, Billy coparents with the two, and studies demigod ten year old, and deals with the Norse gods being in his business. At the very least nobody's been sucked into Ares' prison jar, so that's good.

*Bonus Poly of Billy Cranston, Matt Cook, and Eugene Skullovitch has all above children mentioned. They live in a large house, Eugene's a famous rockstar and restaurant chain owner, and they actually use every room in said house. In this version they met via Matt asking the only person he knew with experience in bdsm for some help with his newly realized kinks; Skull's payment was pizza nights and then Billy got dragged in because he was certain Matt was abusing Skull, but realized it was fine, actually. And fun.

Tommy Oliver;

Tommy and Matt did not really like each other at the beginning. Matt blames Tommy for so so much, but can't do anything about it, and Tommy's missing Dragon Green something terrible and dealing with massive amounts of PTSD for related but different reasons than Matt. Rita trapped them together in a gladitorial area of the Dark Dimension, and Tommy and Matt managed to talk to each other and get into an understanding. When they started dating, it was actually Grace who saw an opportunity, not Rita. But it’d be three more years before she could enact the plan. She didn’t tell Terona, and she was intending to eventually get every coin as well, for a full set.

Verdun Cook is 24, he’s the green dragon ranger, and he’s never met his dads. He’s a top agent for protection of earth. He thinks his parents gave him up to Grace. They think he died in infancy, an unfortunate complication in how he was made. They also think the dragon dagger was destroyed as well, around the same time. When parents and son finally meet, Tommy and Matt are furious. Billy’s furious. Terona's furious. He got Verdun to Tommy and Matt when he found out, even. Everyone’s furious. Matt and Tommy have Verdun live with them to acclimate to civilian life, and get used to being a person. His entire life has been as a weapon; he’s trying to very rapidly learn how to be human. It’s not like he was a success in the program either; the plan was a whole team of legacy rangers in their parents Colors, and he was the only one they could get.

Currently the only people allowed to mess with Tommy and Matt’s DNA is Billy and the Aquitarans and, hilariously, Zedd. He only made a clone. He was very transparent about what he was intending for the clone. Tommy knows where the clone is. He DIDN’T know where his son was, that he was alive, what Grace was intending or what he was doing. He and Matt are in agreement; If they had to chose they’d choose Zedd with their DNA.

When they thought their biological son had died; they adopted. Ricky is fifteen, not associated with a color, and is trying to get used to this with along with their dads. Ricky really is trying to be nice as well, but his overenthusiasm and attempts at bonding are often coming off too strong and borderline antagonistic. He doesn't mean to be. But the bright side is Ricky’s got someone to hang out with. And better yet, Verdun knows nothing about video games, pop culture, or really anything. So. Who wants to watch Star Wars? Ricky's got mixed feelings about his brother, but they're ranging from sad to excited, there's nothing jealousy related. Their dads are awesome, and he's sad Verdun never got to grow up with their dads. And he's excited to be able to have fun with his brother. Ricky is very excitable, and works on the school newspaper. He does volleyball, and has goals to be valedictorian when he graduates. Friendly, upbeat, can sometimes take things too far, but he tries to make those moments right.

They’re all making up for lost time with Verdun. It’s long overdue. At least both kids get along.

Trini Kwan;

Trini smacked sense into him after the upteenth pity party. She also forced him to come along for a mission in space with the Solar Rangers. He wanted to be let in on the whole thing? Fine! They could do that! Welcome to space Matt, everyone you meet is going to die or kill you! Have fun!

After, he put the dagger up, and he and Trini actually talked about what happened on the moon. She also retired from being a ranger, and they focused on taking a page from Bulk and Skull; being helpful as civilians. Matt asked Trini to marry him, and Trini said no. They made a game of it for a few years before she finally did say yes, when they were both financially stable.

They have Minh, and do foster parenting. Currently fostering JJ Oliver, due to unforeseen events leading to both Tommy and Kat unable to care for their kid for the time being. It’s hard being s foster family, but it’s nice being able to see the kids go back to their parents or move on to hopefully better situations. Matt’s at peace, and Trini is too. Trini is a plane mechanic; Matt is a fireman.

Zack Taylor;

During everything Zack and Matt were friends with benefits, though Matt tended to use Zack as an emotional scapegoat as well. Zack finally had enough after a bit, and told Matt either he got his head out of his ass or they weren’t continuing. He was serious, too, and Matt got left in the lurch for a little while before actually looking at himself long and hard and deciding whether or not his grudge was worth losing Zack again. It wasn’t. His parents loved Zack, Kira loved Zack, and most importantly he loved Zack. He came out to his parents and family, and then put in the effort to get over himself to get Zack back. One daughter by surrogate parent, and Matt owes Kim big time. She’s made it clear though. This was for Zack. He gets this, and accepts he and Kim are probably never even going to be friends. His and Zack’s daughter is Layla Cook-Taylor. Layla is sixteen, tiny firecracker of positivity. She has her low moments, but she’s never down for long. She likes swimming and playing guitar. She dances with Zack in dance classes and Matt adores her so so much. She’s frank and earnest and tries her best. She doesn’t give up easily if ever. White ranger. Saba loves her, too. Yes Matt has gotten in arguments with the uppity dagger why do you ask?

Jason Lee Scott;

Getting with Jason felt a little like leaning how to breathe again. Jason came home and Matt quickly got into sparring with him every weekend, like old times. It devolved into a lot of pent up rage related sex. And then all of that was gone…and there were two angry hurt teenagers who didn’t know how to be healthy about love or sex. Cut to fifteen years later, Jason’s a mechanic, Matt’s an accountant. And nothings changed. In between then and now, Jason had a kid. He doesn’t remember who the mother was, and anyway Diego Scott was left on his porch basically. He’s four. Matt likes the way Diego likes piggy backs. And dinosaurs and zombies. Matt likes how whole he feels with Jason and Diego. It’s pretty late in life, but he’s willing to make a go of this, if Jason is willing. And so far, he is. Diego keeps the two on their toes, being ready to get into the thick of everything and anything. But he's four, that's typical, and he's Jason's. And Matt thinks the kid's the best.

Sharkie;

Surprisingly the two manage to click and gel together really well. Three kids, two boys and a girl. Lexie Cook aged 24, Gavin Cook aged 19, and Quincy Cook, aged 17. Sharkie and Matt bonded over being left behind by their friends, though Sharkie doesn’t have any ill will to Bulk or Skull. Stuff happens. The first time he morphed he did it to impress Sharkie and she laughed in his face. He then spent the rest of his life trying to impress her, and stumbled into becoming a better person in the process.

Lexie Cook works as a radio host for a popular music station. She has a popular segment where she runs down the monster of that week and ranks it’s strengths and weaknesses and how to avoid it while putting out a prediction for the next week��s. She does this in between her music playlist, and she’s been right in her predictions a few times. Starts and ends her show saying hi or goodbye to her parents. She has a huge sweet tooth and will do anything for sweets. Lately her brother Gavin's been Off, so she's been adding him in the hi and goodbye, and a 'hang in there bud' as well. not associated with a color

Quincy “Flea” Cook is one of the punks at school, and one of the comedy duo. He's antagonistic to the 'goody twerps' Matt just knows is the power rangers, and neither he nor Sharkie really know if they should step in or just let this play out. Currently letting it play out. Quincy’s grown a lot since the current team's shown up, and he's gotten braver, less self serving, and a lot more noble. Matt's just made sure he's well aware he needs to get out of a situation if buildings are falling. No exceptions. He can grab the person closest to him but he is staying out of the area. Sharkie is making sure he also knows when to stop antagonizing, and know who and what all monsters are. Quincy is in love with art but he's got a Reputation. He's gotten a reputation for being spraypainting sides of buildings. His murals are always well done, but with a sense of humor, and often calling out the villains. Something's up with his older brother though, so he's been trying to figure out what. not associated with a color

Gavin Cook's currently working for the villains. Mind controlled, he's not really even interested in power rangers, normally. Evil ranger sixth ranger, he's been living with a roommate since he was eighteen in an apartment near his parents house and sister's apartment (the reasoning being this is his first try at being properly independent, and if he needs help they're near him to assist if need be). They don't spend enough time with him to know anything other than he's not acting right. Quincy's actively trying to figure out what's wrong though, and Gavin's dreading the day he's going to be told to attack his own family members. He's the villainous Maximum Ranger, and he's waiting for the good rangers to free him and his roommate so he can get back to not caring about power rangers. and hug his family. and go get therapy because yea...he needs to Unpack This. When not a mindcontrolled villain, Gavin's pretty chill. He lets Quincy hang out to get away from their parents, and usually is playing music while watching his brother. He really doesn't give a damn about power rangers, could care less. Matt was one, and that's fine, he's not anymore and Gavin doesn't care about the legacy. He works at the local coffeeshop, which is where the good rangers love hanging out. He hates spying on them, he used to love the atmosphere, and he knows his dad and his job is why he's currently here. All his parents know is he went missing for a week and came back, well, off. They're there when he asks for help, the kicker being, right now Gavin literally cannot.

Marleau Eskin;

He got with her in high school to get back at his former friends and ex girlfriend. It was a joke, turns out he’s the joke. But he and Marcel don’t talk to Marleau anymore. Matt’s a sports reporter, and Marcel’s a professional esport gamer in his late 20’s. Matt sees his kid on the weekends for weekly lunches and check ins. Had to take a second when Marcel said he’d started dating Minh Kwan. Had to decide if the anger was worth it. It wasn’t. He’s not talking to the group still, but Marcel’s got his blessing, and he's fine with Marcel seeing Minh. That has to count for something. Matt was able to prove without a shadow of a doubt that Marleau was a negligent parent, and had left their kid in frankly dangerous situations when he was young. Marcel broke his arm left alone at a park, and Matt was never more happy or enraged. But, it lead to Marcel being genuinely happy as the son of a single parent, so Matt's happy to let him live his life. Also somewhat relieved Minh or her family heard the last name 'Cook' and is still letting this happen. Marcel is not associated with a color.

Stan Skullovitch;

They were kidnapped together and replaced with putties. They were tortured together, and formed a trauma bond. Stan had enough sense to say 'no' to a relationship with someone who 1) hated his brother and 2) was still in highschool. However they kept running into each other over the years. When they did get together, it was when Matt had his head out of his ass a little, and was in a stable job. Stan was a singer at a lounge, and the trauma attraction had settled into a healthier flavor. Everyone's got their opinions on the two getting together but it seems okay right now? Rita as Mystic Mother used magic to give them a child because as Matt pointed out in a confrontation with her; she kind of owed them big time. Ulysses "Bones" Skullovitch is twelve, and kind of a natural wanderer. It's not unusual for him to leave the house at dawn and come back around dinner time with all sorts of things in his pockets. He's not loud, but he's not shy. Prefers watching than acting, though will step up if need be. Stan finds it hard to not worry about him, but Spike and Spike's friends keep an eye on Bones while keeping their distance. He's alright, he's just the kind of person that likes being by himself playing. However he might be getting some friends, and Matt's starting to wonder if power rangers is a genetic thing. Bones will be a red ranger when old enough.

Violet Arias;

she slapped him. Then yelled at him, then apologized because his cheek was swelling and her nail had accidentally caused a cut on his eyelid. He had to wear an eye bandage for two weeks and she gave him flowers. Then he apologized for, well. everything. After that they started dating, balancing his ranger status with school and her trying to be okay with it. They've been in hiding with their kids since Zedd put a price on Matt's head. Myrtle and Tyrian are fifteen and ten, respectively. They don't know their dad was a green ranger and still is when called to be so, Matt's not going to put them in danger over this. As much as he can help, anyway.

Myrtle Arias plays the trumpet in the school marching band. She's extremely good at coded cyphers, and wants to be the president of the united states one day. She's also on the chess team. She has no opinions on the power rangers or the monsters that seem to constantly show up. She's just trying to get through school without being shoved in a locker. Hard to connect to her dad, who was a popular kid, so it's easier to talk to and connect to her mom. is not associated with a color.

Tyrian Arias learned his name's the actual name for the color royal purple (named after the snails whose shells are used for the pigments) and decided he was going to make this his entire personality. He is a ten year old sixth ranger, he is not hiding this. His only saving grace is that he is constantly telling so many tall tales his parents aren't entirely sure if he's telling the truth (and if he is there will be WORDS with whoever gave him Purple), and everyone else thinks he's just an exceptionally imaginitve kid. Matt is...hoping the extra excitable new ranger is not, in fact, his son. However, deep down he knows it's Tyrian and he's freaking out.

Okay no, Zordon not having junk is just because this dipfuck tried to genocide. Trimberly HeadCanon

This idea has been floating around in my head and it's part idea/part head canon.

It all started because Rita was in love with the Yellow Ranger in her time. Zordon forbid them from being together. Rita wanted to fight him over the relationship but Yellow Ranger (Vetra) didn’t. Vetra was Zordon’s sister and was obligated to do as he said as he was the head of their household. Rita was heartbroken that Vetra would pick Zordon over her and decided to destroy everything Zordon held dear—planet Earth and his Ranger team. During the final battle Rita gives Vetra one last chance to join her, but Vetra was repulsed by Rita’s actions and how dark she had become. Vetra refused Rita, but she couldn't turn her in/kill her.

Zordon and the other rangers arrived and Rita killed them one by one till it was Zordon and Vetra only. Zordon was beating Rita and was about to kill her when Vetra stepped in front of her, unable to let her brother kill Rita—even after all she’d done. The blow from Zordon is mortal and slowly kills her. Both Zordon and Rita are furious with Vetra for getting in the middle, both heartbroken that she'd finally made her choice but now it was too late. Zorodn died protecting the cyrstals and Rita lay at the bottom of the ocean for centuries. The reason why Rita chooses Trini to go to in the movie is because of what she recognizes in Trini. Being the outlast, the outlier of the group and her family. Rita herself was scorned by her peers and those she considered family for her love for Vetra. Rita is actually almost hopeful that Trini will join her, but isn’t surprised to be let done once again by a yellow ranger. During their battles and her stalking of the Rangers Rita recognizes the way that Trini looks at Kimberly. When Rita returns from her space banishment with reinforcements and a new alliance, she taunts Trini over her unrequited love. Recognizing Kimberly has become Zordon's newest pet Rita tells Trini that the rangers may accept her but Zordon never will and she should join her. Trini refuses. But Trini wonders if Rita is right and starts pulling away from the rangers, and Kim. Kim isn't willing to lose Trini's friendship and keeps following after her, even when Trini pushes her away. After weeks of constant battles with putties and monsters and Rita's taunting, Trini admits to what is bothering her to Kim. She tells Kim how Rita is using her feelings against her and her deepest fears to separate her from the rest of the group. Kim tells Trini she's stupid for not realizing that Kim likes her too and that no matter what the team will always be with her and support her. Rita is right though. Zordon does have a problem with homosexuality. It takes a long time for him to understand the differences of it and what could have been had he accepted the love between Vetra and Rita.
