If—IF CX-2 is Tech, I'd like to think he was reconditioned as Crosshair mentioned in a previous episode. CX-2 full on Wintersoldier, no recollection of BEING Tech, nothing of the batch, or Omega.

What I also like to think is that he is fighting a mental battle in his exceptional mind. Between his former self (Tech/CT-9902) and current self (CX-2). It's a "game" he only finds challenging when playing against himself.

This is extremely delulu and tinfoil hat fueled, BUT, I just remembered the episode from S2 when he was playing a game on top of Gonky for a flat surface, and he said, "I am playing against myself. It is the only time this game is a challenge."

Ok — this is an unnecessary and incredibly stupid rant — but like, I don’t like the new DB related episodes. It just feels a little odd to me. Yes, WTNV as a whole is odd, but this new arc just felt out of place to me.

My first complaint, and probably my most petty, is that Carlos didn’t have much of a reaction. I’m a Taking Off lover (not in a shipping way), so this might be me blowing their relationship out of proportion, but there’s not even a single comment???? I would understand it from Kevin, because that whole ordeal with Carlos leaving happened like decades ago for him at this point, but I would have expected Carlos to have something to say or feel after seeing him again. Idk. The lack of Charles or their kid also makes me a little sad.

Then there’s the stuff with mother Lauren. Honestly, I *love* the concept, but the execution… ehhh…. I liked her introduction in frown night, even though it felt a tiny bit forced and sudden. I think this was a decent & interesting place to take her character (?), considering there wasn’t really anything to do with her after mudstone abyss. And plus, Kevin’s reaction is really funny. My issue is just how quick it was… I don’t think there was enough build up to this conclusion. And her transformation was extremely sudden too, it would have been really nice to see the shift over time rather than suddenly when she invades Night vale.

Actually, the pacing during this arc was really one of my main issues. I would have liked it a lot more if they had just taken it just a bit slower than they did. The build up with the boy is good, and then frown night was nice, the others were iffy at best, then Mother Lauren hits and it’s just… what? Huh??? Like, this couldn’t have happened a bit more gradually guys? And then everything after is just — eugh. No. Why.

Oh my god don’t get me started on the boy. This is the part that pisses me off the most. The twist, where the fuck did it come from? Where did the boy come from??? Ugh, stupid question, I know, but still. I’m missing something man 😭. I vaguely understand how it relates to his character, with the whole change speech. But like… didn’t we already go over this in mudstone abyss…? He already has a kid? He had a boyfriend? It ended with a hint that those things and relationships would better him?

I definitely need to relisten to it, because I’m stupid, but Jesus Christ, I just don’t want to. It’s just so strange… and I think it sort of messes with the timeline in triptych. Actually, no, it doesn’t, but I really like triptych and I really don’t like this. I’m not sure how exactly to explain it. He had a good character, with a solid story that was heading in a pretty clear direction, and then this? It’s so random to me, and I feel like there was probably a better way to handle this.

Idk. Tamika being the boy’s adoptive mom was a little cute. That’s pretty much it. Pls give Carlos and Kevin another interaction, this is KILLING ME!!!! MORE ANGST!!!! LESS OF WHATEVER THIS WAS!!!!!1!!!!
