okay listen I had no interest in having Vasilli von Holtz actually show up in the game but one of my players bought a mirror in the general store for the express purpose of looking for vampires by checking to see if they don't have a reflection

and god now I desperately want to orchestrate a scenario where Mr. Holtz befriends the party, helps them fight monsters, chills in their camp, and then one day the player tries to use their mirror for something and happens to see he doesn't have a reflection

the chances of it actually happening that smoothly are next to none but imagine the looks on their faces if I pulled it off

My main goal in life is to raise online artists' standards for how they let others treat them

#i don't need or frankly want to be every single artist's friend but I sure as hell will treat them like a whole person as loudly as possible #artists work HARD and nobody understands. I do though #My hobby is DMing artists to voice my genuine positive feelings about them and their work and wishing them well as a person #to any artist reading this I hope you're eating well and resting like for real. If you tell me about your favorite character build I’ll tell you mine 😁

Oh man I love making builds I probably couldn't pick just one...

The build of my most recent character (Althos "Lucky Snout" Marfras) is a halfling dragonborn, and follows the Luckiest Man Alive trope because I just had to have a character that gets through life on charisma and coincidence alone.

His background/race/class all combine to give him just stupid amounts of luck. Which is great because he has -1 Strength and a tendency of running headfirst into danger.

I haven't gotten a chance to use him in a campaign yet but I'm really really excited to.

If I had to pick a build that's already been used in a campaign, it'd be my favorite d&d character, Nikaia! A paladin Aasimar with a knack for healing and a patience without end (but which is constantly tested by their party members lol)

Their art is done by the wonderful @71eh

Unfortunately they never ran over Lvl 2 because they're kiiiiinda a stick-in-the-mud and the party they were a part of leans more towards silly times and memery so they didn't really fit in. They're still my favorite though <3 I'll find another campaign to put them in one of these days.

ANYWAY. I love making d&d characters lol. What's YOUR favorite? :D

#man I miss playing dmd #havent played a campaign in a while and I'm DMing this next upcoming one #it's hard to find campaigns that work best for me too cause #1) I love dark campaigns. maybe that's cringey but I just don't fully enjoy campaigns that are just silly #i need the DRAMATICS i need the THREAT #im real quiet and boring during casual campaigns and i feel bad for the other people in the party who have to put up with me :')#and 2) I have a hard time doing campaigns in voice call because I simply Cannot Focus. It's gotta be either in person or over text #and both of these things have made it nearly impossible to find any campaigns to join 😔#but I know that's 100% my fault so. what can u do yknow #ANYWAY. YEAH. D&D #love it either way aksjdhfsjdh can't wait to play again

god I laughed so hard while I was reading the Yester Hill chapter because when I read the description of the giant twig statue for some reason I imagined it having a round head and then two stupid little twig fangs and the cape and suddenly in my mind it was just a 50-foot statue of the Count from Sesame Street

just imagine Strahd showing up and these druids being like "LOOK WE MADE YOU A STATUE :D" and him like, "........................ (deception check) yeah thanks looks great guys."

Quick little update on the Fire Emblem DND!

Both the prologue and chapter one are complete!

I've also decided to include both the laguz and beasts from fe9/10 and fe 13/14 and also heroes cause my players wanted them too.

They're there and now i gotta figure out a way to incorporate everyone!

I've figure I'm gonna use the tree of life as something important to the story... the Kabbalah if you will.

Since i have seen it used in other media, I'm gonna take a page out of that.

Iirc Griffin did something similar in Amnesty, when Aubrey succeeded on a roll that should've saved another character's life, but it didn't work and I don't think they ever explained why

Yeah!! And in Amnesty, Ned used a point of LUCK. To get a 12. That in MOTW is a guaranteed success. You do not take harm in Protect Someone if you use luck. Also, a fucking shotgun does not DO 7 points of harm anyway. It’s 3. And he fucking KILLED him. Never forgiving Griffin for that one >.>

#that’s not just cheap it’s /explicitly/ against the rules #I don’t ever like if a DM is giving ‘me vs you’ vibes to the players in any form but cheating and lying is the worst #ask #anonymous #like dgmw I love Griffin and most of the time quite enjoy his DMing but several times he has now made me /boiling/ mad #not super happy about the way he has handled Devo’s religious trauma either. like Travis is great #incredible character. he’s got some huge flaws but you also get why Devo is how he is and sometimes he’s super right. but Griffin has too #much been like ‘what if the church wasn’t so bad : )’ like Travis had to /push/ for the flashback trauma scene w Guidance to be something #upsetting and abusive. like let him have a history #taz amnesty spoilers #also not a fan of his new ‘no backstories’ thing #like yeah it can get too much or awkward but they can also be great??? you don’t want to live in them but you want them to give you a rich #basis for where the charcater in-story starts. ??? it causes no issues if you do that?#and it’s fun to occasionally have them be relevant even just for a goofy one off. I had a player be a changeling who had helped a coup in #another country and her co-revolutionary she was with and close to turned on her for racial reasons bc she was a changeling when he found ou #out and tried to kill her and they have a mutual ‘if I ever see you again’ and the experience dramatically influenced how she interacted w #other characters in the campaign bc baggage. but she never even /brought it up/ to a Pc or npc. it’s just rich character to work with #you gotta trust players and yourself a little not let having details overwhelm a story it’s not hard #and if it starts to happen it ain’t hard to correct

Finished my first full DnD campaign as a DM last night.

Funniest part had to be that my group stole a guy's box of cursed shit, then spent the next three sessions being repeatedly surprised that their cool new stuff was cursed.

#dnd #dming #I pretty much only DM #because I love it #but this is the first time I've been able to COMPLETE a campaign that way #albeit a short one #I don't have the longest attention span #and we all work #such is life #dnd scheduling is hard #dungeons and dragons #rpgs #tabletop rpgs #personal favorite cursed item was the scroll #it granted access to some out of class spells #but you'd take a level of exhaustion q30m if you didn't use a spell slot #naturally our warlock attuned to it

#suffering through yet another tryout #this dude is like 14 at most #based on voice alone #and the way bro has been talking and like constantly dming everyone #ugh #he’s been like so desperately scrambling a bunch of random people together begging for a tryout and already making official team stuff #dude it hasn’t even been 24 hours #I think he’s getting mommed as we speak #he told me he had two other div 4 players who’d be willing to try it out #and it’d be him ‘proving he’s div 4’ because he is not so far #I am not in a lobby with div 4 players #he kept asking me shit and I gave answers he clearly didn’t wanna hear about shit like my weapon pool and what I wanna play #and was like ‘oh damn rip’ but then an hour later came back like HERES HOW I CAN MAKE THIS WORK #dude just give it a rest #find a team your level #and he’s dragged five million people in this server to tryout #dude wtf is this #just slapping a bunch of players together with no regard for what they want #and then basically ignoring them when they say no #he started spam pinging me because he took an earlier scrim than agreed upon so I obviously wasn’t available #I told him like five times I was busy #just #bizarre #immature #I’m trying to be nice but bro is making it so hard #this guy also dmed me two years ago when the rolling squids were looking for a fourth #and was soooo depressed when I showed him our post and he want old enough (we asked for 18+)#so im trying to be nice #he sounded so dejected #but this is a fucking mess

Yo, so, I was talking with one of my friends, and apparently she and her husband do a one on one DnD campaign thing together? Where they both have a good handful of characters and they pretty much play together with them using some of the DnD (and a bit of homebrew), and they apparently have a blast. Dunno if you and your bf have tried or thought about doing so, but might be worth a shot if you have been jonesing to play. :o

Ohhhh im so jealous of them dhhd like that sounds so fun!! I am kinda curious about the logistics tho, are they both dming together or only one of them does? I would feel bad for putting all the work on him so co-dming would be the best i guess? But i have zero clue how to do that

Every time I get excited to DM I’m tragically reminded of things like session prep and making statblocks.
