I've had the idea of this image for some time in my head, ever since we found out that my puppet druid Amento is the second artificial version of the jester in the original Ravenloft court. He's been having a tough time trying to live up to his past lives, and the fact that h̸̳̜͛î̵̙̦́s̴̝̳̆̏ o̴̧̯͗̓ň̴̞l̴̙̥̓y̸̹̒̒ p̷̟̱̼̱͉̋̓̓͒̽u̷͎̎̏͑͆̀ř̴̺p̶̺̦̑̈̕o̸̘̿̃̈́͑s̵̹̥͕͕̊̃͊ȩ̵̢̻͍̥͒̂̄ is̶̢͈̱̟̾̿͝ to̶̠͋ k̵̞̥̥̀̍̕e̴͔̩͗̈͠e̴̠̬͍̜̊͊̽́̊p̵̧̛̀̽ Ir̸̟̖̳̗̦͌͒͠ȅ̴̥͂e̴͍̽̿̓͐n̶̡̧̛̹̞̤͂͠a̶̧͔̪̻̮͒̈́̈́̎͑ h̶̬̼͈͉̄̒͐̀a̴̛̝̳͔͌p̴͒͌��p̸̛͇͕̽͗̽ỷ̸̢̖̚ is not helping. He has met both of his past versions, and both of them feel very uncanny to him, like that strange repulsion you get when hearing your own voice played back to you. 🌚

Talking about the voices, we had a part where our party heard their own voices reciting the prophecy back at them, and I love imagining how Amento thought that it sounded like the voices of his friends + Pidlwick, as it has never occurred to him that they share the same voice. ✨

there's now a running bit in my Curse of Strahd game that Ismark's only explanation for what's going on in Barovia is that "the land is cursed".

monsters? well, the land is cursed.

stalked by vampires? this land is cursed!

the only booze they have is wine? definitely the land being cursed.

can't wait for the next nat 1 on an investigation or an arcana check where I'll get to shrug and just say, "dunno, man. the land is cursed."

It’s a shame most people kill Doru in the first five minutes of meeting him. His character has so much potential once you read into the nuances.

Pidlwick II and III 🎭

Amento has been having a stressful journey figuring out his past as Pidlwick III. In the castle he met his first failed version Pidlwick II, which definitely creeped him out.

Now he lives in denial saying that they look nothing alike (they do).

I wasn't too keen on the official design of Pidlwick II, so I just drew how I imagined him instead. Also our DM added in the story that he has a second face in the back of his head, and the head rotates 180 degrees between happy and sad expression when needed. It's so creepy I love it.

Amento is my reborn druid in Curse of Strahd campaign. I had no idea what the story was when I was designing him and decided he would be a puppet. It fits so well with the story it's almost uncanny.
