“Your car is very you,” says Niko, like that’s a compliment. It’s just another piece of crap she inherited and can’t afford to replace. Where she’s sitting, Niko’s gotta see where Jenny kicked the back of her dad’s seat so much the springs got tattooed into the leather.

She’s spent too long thinking about that comment to respond to it naturally, so she just clears her throat and starts the car. The engine coughs and stalls out on the first try. And the second.

“You pressing the clutch?” asks the guy, like Jenny’s never driven manual before.

The full canvas of this Payneland WIP from early this year! Based off of/traced from the sculpture Abandon by Camille Claudel. It’s been long enough since I worked on this that I’m not sure I’m gonna finish it, but I’m extremely proud of what I’ve done so far :3

It's wonderfully lighthearted, delightfully funny, and i absolutely ran out of time to illustrate more of them but each scene is a surprise candy. A pleasure to work with so cinematic a text and so delightful a person ♡
