Yeah sorry your boyfriend is an incarnation of the Eternal Consort. Yeaaahhh he’s doomed both by the narrative and his love for you and he’s going to die in a way that’s your fault in some capacity. Usually by your blade, yeah. Oh and any future reincarnation or aspect of him is doomed as well. Sorryyyyy.

What's weirder is that Corum was killed by his eternal consort, while Elric killed his own eternal consort (both of them no less) . Was that a deliberate inversion of events?
And ngl, Corum's death is (if we take in account the story of 2014 Elric reboot), a sort of parallel to Cymoril's death
Medhbh and Cymoril ascend to become rulers and hold a grudge on the champion, even if both still love them. (that made me speculate that Medhbh was perhaps an inspiration for evil queen reboot Cymoril)
What happens next is that both Corum and Cymoril chose to accept their doom instead of trying to run away (Cymoril chose to fight elric instead of leaving with him, and corum chose to remain in the world that didn't need him instead of leaving his loved one)
And both died from an enchanted sword stabbing them that their loved one indirectly/accidentally set off on them-
Corums Death
Sorry Tumblr. But I need to talk about Michael Moorcocks books once more. I tried to talk about it with my mum but she was more interested in buying me new shoes and a new dress and telling me about stuff I am not interested in. Okay. Corum dies at the end of his adventures. It’s okay. Elric died as well. They’re the Eternal Champions. Well, that’s fine. But they say Corum needs to die because he can’t stay in this world. But why? No one explains it. He had the chance to leave the world but he preferred staying there with his love. And than she killed him. I’m sure he would have left the world if she would have told him to leave. I don’t get it.  It seems so unnecessary. Elric died for a better reason. Really.  I thought all the Eternal Champions die for a good (and pretty tragic) reason. Or at least that the reader will have the feeling that the Death is the best opinion that it’s necessary. It’s good that I prefer Corums adventures with the Sword Rulers. So I don’t think about his death too often. Plus I like Rhalina more than Medheb.
