i love & live for your nailposting so i have to ask — do you have any tips on cuticle care??? i find that mine grow SUPER quickly and i constantly have to trim them back with cuticle clippers but i feel like they never…. Look Nice™️.
first of all THANK YOU and the 10 other ppl who like my nailposting. second, it's hard to give specific tips w/o knowing anything about your Bod, but general tips that are always applicable are just like. push them back frequently, esp when they're soft like right after your hands have gotten wet, or you've moisturized. also def recommend using a cuticle oil every once in awhile, daily if possible! you can homebrew a cuticle oil by just using jojoba and vitamin E, if you wanna be a little cheap abt it and/or you're sensitive to fragrances, Like Moi. (premade cuticle oil is generally Scented.) using cuticle nippers and trimming them is sick and I also do it every once in awhile, but keeping them Pushed Back and Not Dry is the first line of defense, I think! if you're snipping really often, though, it can actually make the regrowth a little Worse. edit: I ALMOST FORGOT about doing cuticle cleanup with a dissolvent. they make lots of kinds, I have a sally hansen one, it comes in a little blue bottle. For the dead skin that's actually climbing up the nail plate and sticking to it, you'd apply this stuff for a minute or so, and then scrape off the (newly softened) dead skin with a little orangewood stick/cuticle pusher.

Fun to be a little corporate worker bee because I can go ah sure I think a manicure would be nice and a Good Professional Idea for the business trip next week and my god my CUTICLES I have literally been gnawing on them all week (and I cannot cut them myself. I’ve tried. I can’t)
And also being a little corporate worker bee means I can afford to have it done on a whim because, you know, why not
FUN

it is a little funny how making a Real Hobby out of painting my nails has resulted in me doing like Self Care stuff because the thing is. most people who don’t wear polish at all or rarely do, don’t usually have to do much to maintain their nail health and don’t have much reason to care about cuticle maintenance. like you CAN care about those things without doing your nails, but if you’re going to subject your nails to, say, pure acetone once a week, you do need to start caring some about those things or your nails will get pretty damaged

#not sure if i talked about this here yet but I'm a recovering nail/cuticle biter#and last fall i started getting gel manicures to incentivize me to stop so i wouldnt be wasting my money lol#and it WORKED. because i got really really into nail and cuticle care#so now my nails are grown out and my nail beds have completely reattached#i have normal nails now and you could never tell i used to demolish them#i spent my ENTIRE LIFE with stubby little bitten nails and gross ripped up dried cuticles#and now i have BEAUTIFUL natural nails#except for the damage i accumulated from the gel removal over seven months lolllllll#so recently i stopped getting gel and i switched to regular lacquer#at first i was still going in to my nail tech but then i started taking the polish off in between appointments and practicing on my own#and in just a couple weeks i was good enough that i just stopped going in!#i just do my own nails now!!!#it takes me four hours to do it right lmao but its worth it because it's been a week and they're still perfect#only one tiny chip and NO LIFTING#im gonna take it off and redo it with a new color today because I'm bored of this color#but i could probably keep wearing this for another week and it'd hold up#I can't take all the credit because I'm using the Dazzle Dry system and just switching out the color with ILNP lol#Dazzle Dry is another fucking level omg#but anyway. I'm proud of myself#my nails look just as good as when i was getting them done professionally 😭#i am NOT a girly girl i don't wear makeup or shave a single part of my body#i get my hair cut specifically in a way that requires minimal styling#so the nail obsession isn't something anyone would have expected from me...#and yet my nails are always immaculate nowadays 💅

Do your long nails help with avoiding clipping? My fingernails are supershort and if I paint them it clips a few days later, but I probably touch a lot more with them.
I do think they chipped more when I wore my nails short!!! I also thought they chipped more often when I filed them into squovals or square tips. that said, another thing that helps keep the paint from chipping is that I dehydrate my nail plate w acetone before applying my mani, and I usually use some kind of bonder base / long-lasting base before I paint the full mani!

we have to stoppp normalizing getting your cuticles cut off for a manicure. your cuticles are there to protect you!!! cutting them with those little scissors is so gross AND its a risk of infection AND it HURTS. and i shouldn't have to get 10 mini cosmetic surgeries to get my nails painted professionally omg

Okay now I’ve really gone and done it. Today I met almost all my desires. Jewelry, heels (heeled boots), dress/skirt, perfume, nails painted, lipstick and blush (+ usual eye makeup of course). Just one thing missing— curled hair! But after getting home, I tried it out, and it’s really easy so long as I use a straightener and not a curling iron. Tomorrow. Tomorrow is the day. I will be complete.

Ghost who lets you paint his nails. Throwing his gloves somewhere along the floor as he gives you a hand. The other on his thigh as he watches you work.
"What's that one for darling?", leaning over as he looks at the tools you use with some curiosity.
"Your fucking hands are nasty.", recoiling away almost immediately with a playful glare at your words before sighing.
"Fair."
Grease and grime stuck underneath his nails that you've had to remove. Only watching along with absentminded interest even as you lather hand cream over his hands. Making them smoother than they were before, as smooth as you could make sandpaper.
Enjoying the light touches against the tips of his hand as you paint his nails. Trusting your work even after you practically cut some skin off his cuticles. Making him bleed but ah. It wasn't too bad.
"And how much will that cost me hm?", he jokes as he arches his fingers. Inspecting the cleanliness and precision of your work before he chuckles. Grabbing your head with his free hand and kissing your forehead before he gives you the other.
"On the house for my favorite customer."
"Ya saying theres other people's hands you hold for this long?", jealous bastard.
A simple "No.", and he turns smug. >:(
