I'm obsessed with the NA bros having an online cooking show. That one comic where they're making sushi kills me. Everyone expects that America will butcher their cultural dishes until it's an unrecognizable grease plate, but Canada doing it as well is just perfect. And I love how Canada has on a ninja costume. I bet America wears a themed costume for each episode and makes Canada do the same.

Does anyone remember Unus Annus? I feel like it's that exact vibe except they are both Mark and Ethan. Oh France is probably so disappointed in Canada lol. He's taught him how to make coq au vin and bœuf bourguignon, but Canada will never be a gourmet.

France and England would be guest stars and the episode would just end with them losing the plot and bickering. Also, England's cuisine would get slandered the entire episode. "Dude, you know WW2 is over, right? You can stop with the rations!"

Assorted FrUK/FACE Fam Headcanons

These are silly little thoughts I've had while drafting Migraines in Margaritaville, so these apply to the world of that AU (modern, human; FrUK parents raising NA bros in Massachusetts, US). Most of these involve food because I seem to think about them when I'm hungry???

• Francis and Arthur practice "one-parent-one-language" with the boys. Matthew took to French much easier than Alfred did, but both brothers managed to pick it up without much of a fuss. In elementary school the twins would use French to cheat on tests (they weren't allowed to sit next to each other after their schemes were discovered).

• Arthur set the grill on fire three times in one summer. Francis clearly doesn't learn from his mistakes and Arthur is too stubborn to let Francis do all of the work when it comes to preparing dinner.

• Follow up on the point above -- Arthur can prep vegetables and throw together food that doesn't require too much measuring or too many steps on the stovetop. He doesn't have the patience for most dishes and doesn't have a sense of what spices go well together/what is enough vs too much. Francis lets him help by chopping up vegetables and Arthur was usually the one to pack the boys' lunches. Sometimes they'd get leftover portions of whatever they had for dinner last night, but Arthur often defaulted to some sort of wrap with deli meat and assorted veggies/crackers for snack.

• Francis gives me similar vibes to those youtube moms who try to make homemade versions of popular American snacks. He may spend the weekdays at work in a kitchen, but on the weekends he's at home, still in the kitchen, trying to make homemade fruit leather and homemade cheese crackers for his sons.

• Arthur's the one more willing to let the boys get snacks from the store or take out. Francis is very much "we have McDonald's at home."

• Both Francis and Arthur would've been so excited to decorate the twins' nursery. They're both artistically inclined, be it in different ways. Arthur made blankets for both of them; Matthew is red and Alfred is blue. Francis paints floral designs on the furniture, in particular purple irises and both red and white roses.

• Because the twins were identical and because babies are kinda just blobs, they definitely accidentally mixed the twins up. The color coding might've come after the swap. They had a crisis about it. Francis "sacre bleu, we just gave two people permanent identity crises" Bonnefoy and Arthur "if we compare them to every picture we have of them we can figure it out" Kirkland. I'm imagining this happening before the twins have enough hair for their cowlicks to really form.

• It's tradition in the Kirkland-Bonnefoy household to have a box of Whitman's chocolates at every family party and Alfred is the reason why. One Christmas each twin got to pick out something special for the party and Alfred picked out the 22 piece Whitman sampler in the yellow box. They're not the best chocolates, but it became a tradition. Thankfully there's two layers in the box so Mattie and Al can have their own messenger boy pieces (the shaped chocolate that's the centerpiece of each layer).

• Neither Arthur or Francis have favor for one twin over the other. They both have their own activities they can do with Alfred and Matthew separately. Francis will cook and bake with Alfred and draw with Matthew. Arthur teaches Matthew to garden and watches old (by his son's standards) movies with Alfred.

• Francis is the parent the boys can come to no questions asked. Arthur isn't apathetic, but Francis is more inclined to give more thoughtful advice for relationships and general fuck-ups. He won't press on why or how something happened, but will help his sons figure out the best way to solve a problem.

• When Alfred and Mattie turned 10, Arthur wanted to teach them the importance of personal finance. He would give the boys $5 each week to spend on snacks at the grocery store (Arthur does the couponing and the shopping for the house). They were allowed to hold onto the money to use for later and could help with the couponing.

• Arthur drags the family out to Salem every Autumn. Sure, they live in Massachusetts and are well aware of how bad tourist season is, but he's fascinated with the city. Alfred initially went because he really liked this one New York style pizza shop in the Witch City Mall (how they got Francis to step foot in there, I don't know), but eventually grew interested in the witchy stuff Salem has to offer. Francis only puts up with it because the city has an art museum and weekly art fairs in the Fall. Matthew dreads their yearly trip. He loathes it. He'd rather tag along with Francis to the museum.

• Until the boys were old enough to start protesting, they had family Halloween costumes. Francis thought it was tacky, but saw the appeal when Arthur got the twins (still babies) all dressed up in lobster costumes.

ngl, i think he'd intimidate a lot of your family members into silence if you bring him over to family dinners or get-togethers LMAO. like just seeing this tall boy with a bunch of piercings and unconventional clothing for guys his age would, yes, earn him a lot of stares, but he'd also kind of intimidate those tryhard male cousins you might have (you know the type, the wanna get jowas and emo sadboys ueueue).

despite how hobie looks like, he's actually super friendly to all your relatives, he doesn't judge by how they look, in fact he doesn't judge, he observes and bases his opinions of them from there. he always has something nice to say to your relatives, even if they might have a lot of criticisms to say about him.

that's the other reason you got together with him, actually. even if you have a lot of negative things to say or think about yourself, or internalized bad thoughts about who you are or look like from your family or peers, he always has kinder words that you deserve to hear and will consistently inconsistently (through other words, actions, and gifts) remind you of who you, the amazingly wonderful individual who came into his life, really are all the time.

i think he'd also be a wonderful cook. if you were assigned to take care of cooking for your family, he'd wordlessly just saunter over to you by the kitchen, lean against the door frame of the kitchen like the rizz master that he is, raise his eyebrows, smirk, and ask you, "need any help, mahal ko?"

if you say yes, he'd get right to work, doing what you ask of him in the most unconventional ways possible. he'd chop vegetables and meat so freaking fast man, and in SUCH NEAT SLICES. if he were on rice cooking duty, he'd probably make rice with the kawali in the traditional way because he doesn't believe in rice cookers when he has two functional and capable hands, a kawali, a fire, and you to watch over him. and surprisingly, the rice he makes is FUCKING AMAZING, IT HAS FLAVOR?????? A REALLY GOOD ASS FLAVOR????? LIKE YEAH???????

after dinner, he'd do the cleaning up with you, even if your parents will insist upon him not to do anything because he's a guest.

he also lives, breathes, and is lato-latoing. like when he caught you playing with the toy, he got interested and made one for himself. it's much louder than the plastic lato-latos being sold, so it makes a lot of racket. he plays it in the spider society HQ when things are too quiet or boring, he just whips it out and brags about how you're the real lato-lato master, not him.

he lato-latos when miguel is chewing out the members of the spider society after a bad mission or someone did something to piss him off. OR EVEN WHEN MIGUEL'S JUST ANNOUNCING SOMETHING OR ISN'T EVEN DOING ANYTHING, AS LONG AS MIGUEL IS THERE, HOBIE WILL LATO-LATO, THAT IS HIS ROUTINE (of inconsistency).

Silas: Daddy please, can’t we just use the simray on the monster

Suzanna: You will not

Adam: Maybe we just need another kind of weapon. Starlight, you remember that anti monster spray you made

Suzanna looks at him questioningly while Silas’s eyes fill with hope.

Suzanna: You can’t-

Adam: Can’t use too much I know. I’ll go grab it, Silas you keep an eye on the monster

An excited Silas scurries upwards while Suzanna doubts that some non scientific approach to a monster could work.

Adam and Silas enter the room and Adam pulls out the anti monster spray.

Silas: Daddy, wait, don’t you think we should give it a warning or something? If I hurt it it’ll just get mad

Adam: Okay. Listen here bro, this lurking behaviour is ratchet. Because it’s so uncool we are going to treat the area with anti monster spray. If you don’t want your... tentacles?

Silas: Tentacles

Adam: If you don’t want your tentacles to shrivel up and fall off I suggest you scram. I’ll give you five seconds

Adam begins to countdown and Silas joins in, still eating his pancakes. After one Adam sprays under the bed and Silas calms down, believing the monster has vanished.

Back at the table Suzanna was relishing her last times with an infant.

Suzanna: Where’s Mummy? Where’s Mummy

Pollock: *giggling* Mummy hi na da

Suzanna: Peek-a-boo!

Pollock bursts into laughter, still loving this game.

Silas: Thank you for killing the monster Daddy

Suzanna: Killing?

Adam: We didn’t kill it! We just told it to scram and added some protection

Silas: But Mummy you kill monsters on the TV

Suzanna: Video game monsters are different

Adam: Come on son, we better start the cake

Silas: Oh can we do chocolate? I’m sure he’ll like chocolate just like me

Pollock: *giggles* Si as me

Adam: So we set the timer for- what are you doing son

Silas: Cooking it with my mind powers

Adam: Sweet but... that’s not how our mind powers work

Silas: How do they work then

Adam: Well most grown aliens can read minds. Tell what someone is feeling, tell who they are as a person, with focus you can read actual thoughts

Silas: When can I do that

Adam: You’d have to be a teen first before it started to develop. Now come on, we didn’t need mind powers, the oven did just fine

The cake is put on the candle and with care the candles are lit. Only thing missing now is Pollock.

Suzanna: Where do you think you’re crawling to now huh? Come on silly

Lifting him up Suzanna carries him over to the table where the family sing a round of happy birthday to Pollock.

Suzanna: Now we blow out the candles. Can you huff and puff Pollock

Pollock: *attempts*

Suzanna: Great job! Mummy will help you get the last few. We blow together okay

When the candles are out Suzanna bounces Pollock as he giggles.

Suzanna: Who is ready for their age up spin? Is it you?

Pollock rolled the charmer trait! Alongside blue from his first age up, black will be another favourite colour! Yes he has long hair, finding alpha male hair cc was hard even before limiting it to toddlers so we’re going with it.

Following the picture the family split up. Adam needs to write an article before his shift about the latest art installation in San Myshuno, so he heads to the at home office. Suzanna picks up Pollock and figures they should start on the potty training. Silas has some homework to do but he wants to relax for the afternoon so he decides to set the table early to save himself time.

Suzanna: Here we are. Let’s get your diaper off then you can sit

Pollock: Huh

Suzanna: It’s time to learn how to use a potty, isn’t it excting

Pollock: *babbles*

Suzanna: Just try Moondust. When you can do it you can move on from diapers

Pollock seems unsure about what to do but Suzanna does her best to encourage him.

I decided I'd make a Sims 4 save with the NA bros (and Kumajiro ofc.) Not even a day in and Alfred set a fire while cooking eggs and toast for several guests; I think somebody peed themselves on the way out the door, Alfred put the fire out, replaced the stove with the household's limited funds, and resumed the somehow still in-tact eggs and toast. Just feels really on-brand for Hetalia.

The food came out excellent, but at what cost?

➤ you eventually wake up in donald’s bed with an iv in your arm and a worried boyfriend beside you. apparently, you were severely dehydrated, but donald warns you not to put him through that ever again and crawls into bed beside you until you fall back asleep

These are probably gonna have some FACE family bias because I'm just a sucker for the whole family dynamic, especially in healthy settings :0

1.) I think both twins have good relationships with their fathers. I'm on the fence about favoritism (both for Mattie or Arthur for Alfred and Francis for Matthew). I think in certain stories it can work depending on the plot. I'm just a sucker for Arthur and Francis doing the best they can to support BOTH of their boys.

2.) Alfred is a better cook than Matthew, but Matthew has a more refined taste and values quality. Alfred is willing to try complicated recipes and will eat the final product regardless if it came out as intended. Matthew really only cares to cook simple meals but will ensure he has the highest quality ingredients.

3.) Both Al and Matt love the outdoors. They have a healthy rivalry when it comes to sports, especially fishing??? Let these boys loose on the Great Lakes and see what happens.

4.) Alfred starts arguments, but Matthew finishes them. I feel like of the two Alfred is more prone to lashing out and picking fights. Matthew gets the final word in -- he takes time to think before he speaks and is actually pretty good at constructing debates.

5.) In human AUs, Matthew and Alfred are both prone to troublemaking. The "terrible twos" was very true when it comes to the NA bros, especially since there's two of them. Growing up, they could rely on each other when problems arose and could count on each other to stall/get each other out of trouble with their dads. Matthew had the reputation of the "good child" among family friends or family members outside of their immediate family, but this was largely due to his quieter nature as a child. He's just as capable of scheming as his brother is.

JACKIE MILLER -- ONE YEAR LATER

Jackie spent six months in rehab and took it seriously this time around. She's also been seeing a therapist regularly and taking her medication so her mental health stays balanced. It took a while to get here, but she's approaching a year of sobriety.

After leaving rehab, she joined Billie and Briggs for a short time on the road, but it was too difficult for her to stay as she needed the stability of a singular place and an access to her usual NA meetings. So she returned to New Orleans where she got a job working alongside her sponsor at a small downtown restaurant. Turns out she has a real passion for cooking.

She has been staying with Gabi, for the most part, but proceeded to move into her own apartment once she saved up enough for a deposit. She now lives in a small studio where she pays rent regularly and has her own space/peace.

She has been getting back in touch more and more with her father, and the two have developed a fragile 'bros' relationship kind of thing. She's happy to have him in her life as it seems he's on a journey to better himself as well. He visits once a month, sometimes more if he can, but due to conditions of his release he has to have a permanent residency in Florida.

Jackie has been running every morning for six months, sometimes even before the dawn. She's physically healthier than she's been in a long time. The running clears her mind, and helps her creativity and so she also spends time drawing and painting in the evening if she feels like it. Other times she has a lazy day in and just chills watching tv shows and cooking for fun.

A lot has changed for her in a year, A LOT, but that does not mean that she doesn't still crave drugs daily, or that she doesn't want to fall back into her old patterns. Still, she is doing the best she can to stay on the right track, with some occasional outbursts of anger or frustration.

Jackie is still seeing Lucas, but she doesn't open up to him or others at all which can cause tension with her relationships. She's also working too hard on staying sober so she's not actively 'dating' or even aware of what that looks like. There's still feelings for Abel which did not exactly subside. And she's developed several crushes on people at rehab, but it was truly all in good fun to pass some time.

Her primary focus now is staying clean, establishing herself as a person, and reconnecting with people while fixing broken bonds through honesty and changing her behaviours.
