Columbia University's Joint Anti-Israel Groups Go Mask Off
Hey, remember how Columbia University had students in encampments protesting for months? Remember how their SJP, BDS movement, and associated groups endorsed terrorism, violence, and "resistance by any means"?
I remember. Well their joint SJP and BDS group called CU Apartheid Divest just posted something to their Instagram that shows it has never been about Palestine or Palestinians.
Tumblr media
Fig. 1. CU Apartheid Divest group, made of SJP, BDS, and other groups openly admits that they are anti-Western Civilization
Read that again.
"We are Westerners fighting for the total eradication of Western civilization."
That's a wild statement to make.
So what are they posting about suddenly that has them revealing their intent for their actions since October?
Bangladesh.
The CU Activists are attempting to liken October 7th attack by Hamas with the Bangladesh student protests. Bangladesh had a quota based employment system that students were protesting, the government responded violently, and everything escalated from there due to years of government corruption, violence, and economic turmoil. This was a protest turned revolution within a country by its own people. This was not a government run by a recognized terrorist group attacking another country, killing civilians, and taking them hostage.
However, the differences and reasons between Hamas's actions and the actions of the students in Bangladesh do not matter to the anti-Zionist Activist.
We've seen this repeatedly from these activists that they will try to liken their movement and/or attach it to other conflicts around the world. Many of these conflicts differ greatly from the Israel/Hamas war as they are internal issues with internal actors being involved.
Bangladesh is students protesting against their government.
Sudan is going through a civil war between various factions.
The Congo has been experiencing decades long violence as various militias fight each other for control.
Yet I've see anti-Israel protestors tag their posts with Free Bangladesh, Free Congo, Free Sudan even though these conflicts differ in origin and parties involved.
If you continue through the IG post you'll see very little information as to the cause of the protest/revolution in Bangladesh and continued attempts to coopt the actions for their movement.
Tumblr media
Fig. 2. CU Apartheid Divest group tries to liken its student movements to the student protests in Bangladesh and calls to escalate.
I can't help but think that the CU student activists yearn to be oppressed in a way that would allow them to respond like revolutions and protests around the world. The way they speak and write exudes a yearning for violence. In Fig. 2. they detail the actions taken by students against an authoritarian government that has actively shot and killed protestors. Whereas here in the USA the students were forcibly removed from campuses, experienced some police violence, were arrested, and then released. No curfews with a shoot on sight policy were imposed here in the USA in response to college campus protests.
Tumblr media
Fig. 3. CU Apartheid Divest classifies this as an Intifada and likens it to Hamas's attack.
Notice in Fig. 3. that they're trying to call the actions in Bangladesh an Intifada. Not an intifada, but an Intifada which is a proper noun with its own connotation. I know I may be a stickler here, but if I see that word capitalized then I know it's referencing the First and Second Intifadas, and I know that these student groups have been calling for a Third one under the guise of "Global Intifada". They also say that Westerners need to escalate and are "obligated" to do so.
Tumblr media
Fig. 4. CU Apartheid Divest uses tankie terminology, refers to Bangladeshis as martyrs, and calls this part of the Global Intifada.
The terminology in Fig. 4. also shows how much the Free Palestine student movement in the USA is not actually about Palestine, Palestinians, or any other movement it tries to attach itself to. These are tankies as indicated by the use of "comrades" and they are wholly opposed to Western Civilization. They genuinely state that their movement should violently escalate here in the USA and that they should be prepared for "sacrifices". This language when coupled with the use of Intifada is alarming as it appears that these student activists are preparing to follow in the footsteps of the Second Intifada, or at the very least calling for others to do so.
These students, whom call themselves the Militants of Hind's Hall (seen in the IG post, but not pictured here), are coopting, or attempting to coopt, movements and conflicts from around the world for their own ideals. As these are students in the USA who are arguably experiencing the least amount of oppression when compared to these other conflicts, and are actively attending Ivy League or R1 universities, it can only be assumed that they're yearning to live out their Glorious Revolution fantasy.
I am under no illusion that I understand their reasoning. Are things perfect here in the USA? Of course not, but when compared to the countries that these student protestors are attaching themselves to, we are leaps and bounds better. And if you disagree, then I have to ask, when was the last time we had a curfew with a shoot on sight policy?
Anyone attempting to call this movement and group "peaceful" is naive. They've been telling you for months that they're not peaceful, that their goals are not peaceful, and that the only peace they want is after they commit violence.

Hind Rajab is a a 6 year old Palestinian girl who’s entire family was killed. She was stuck in a car with their bodies and was awaiting help. They found her martyred along with the rescuers who tried to save her.
Columbia University students took over Hamilton Hall and named it “Hind’s Hall” to ensure that she and all Palestinians are never forgotten.

NYPD cop caught texting someone that they "thought they fucking shot someone" on campus. Columbia brought this level of violence in against their own students. May Columbia never recover from this.

I cannot describe to you how it feels to go outside of THE PLACE THAT I LIVE and be met with 100s of NYPD officers. I cannot wrap my head around any other reason for Minouche Shafik to allow their presence other than an effort to stifle the free speech of students on a campus that prides itself on a history of student involvement in politics.

A question about protest safety
I heard people shouldn’t wear contact lenses to protests because pepper spray and tear gas. So it’s better to wear glasses, but won’t you damage and injure your face far easier? And some people are practically blind without their glasses what if they lose them?

Earlier today Columbia issued shelter in place orders and reportedly told parents to get their kids from campus. ~2 hours ago NYPD moved to retake Hind Hall. CBS livestreamed the event in full, complete with live commentary (like watching a sports game), including reporting that police went in with guns drawn... But later praising their lack of violence, wearing only helmets and not riot gear, and not using chemical weapons. They were praised for being specific in their arrests and telling students to stay inside dorms, despite constant yelling "Shame on you."
WKCR, Columbia's student radio, also had live coverage with 3+ reporters on the ground. They reported smelling the use of teargas inside of the building, as well as at least one student unconscious in front of Hind Hall. They reported everyone, including non protestors, getting swept in arrests.
I'm sharing this because I recommend all of you look for archived recording of student coverage and be aware that whitewashing of this event happened in real time.

Buildings are easier to defend than outdoor camps AND they can be more disruptive. For anyone ready to escalate for Gaza, check out this re-issue of a text that has been used in previous movements.

Columbia University’s chapter of Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) has endorsed Hamas, a US-designated terrorist organization, the latest sign of its growing extremism and willingness to embrace antisemitic violence.
“The Palestinian resistance is the only force materially fighting back against isr*el [sic],” the group said in a series of posts shared by Documenting Jew Hatred on Campus, a social media account which exposes antisemitism on college campuses. “There is no way to eliminate the resistance without ending the occupation. When you see a video of a young palestinian [sic] boy traumatized in a hospital talking about how iof [the Israel Defense Forces, or IDF] shot his pregnant mother in cold blood in front of his own eyes, do not question how he chooses to resist years later.”
Campus Reform, a higher education watchdog which first reported Documenting Jew Hatred on Campus’ posts, noted that Columbia SJP has added an “inverted red triangle” to its social media biography, further indicating its support for Hamas. The Palestinian terrorist group has used an inverted red triangle in its propaganda videos to indicate an Israeli target about to be attacked, and anti-Israel protesters on university campuses have been using the symbol in their demonstrations.
Columbia SJP, a group that has re-formed under multiple names since being suspended by school administrators during the fall semester, has been central in staging a slew of riotous demonstrations in which anti-Zionist activists verbally assaulted Jewish students with antisemitic epithets, clamorously expressed support for terrorism and Hamas, and caused thousands of dollars in damages to school property.

Columbia University’s most strident pro-Hamas organization distributed literature calling on students to join the terror group’s movement to destroy Israel during this year’s convocation ceremony last week, according to various reports on social media.
“This booklet is part of a coordinated and intentional effort to uphold the principles of the thawabit and the Palestinian resistance movement overall by transmitting the words of the resistance directly,” says a pamphlet distributed by Columbia University Apartheid Divest (CUAD), a Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) spinoff, to incoming freshmen. “This material aims to build popular support for the Palestinian war of national liberation, a war which is waged through armed struggle.”
Other sections of the pamphlet are explicitly Islamist, invoking the name of “Allah, the most gracious” and referring to Hamas as the “Islamic Resistance Movement.” Proclaiming, “Glory to Gaza that gave hope to the oppressed, that humiliated the ‘invincible’ Zionist arm,” it says its purpose is to build an army of Muslims worldwide.
“We call upon the masses of our Arab and Islamic nations, its scholars, men, institutions, and active forces to come out in roaring crowds tomorrow,” it adds, referring to an event which took place in December. “We also renew our invitation to the free people and those with living consciences around the world to continue and escalate their global public movement, rejecting the occupation’s crimes, in solidarity with our people and their just cause and legitimate struggle.”
This latest exaltation of violence was followed by a disturbing act of vandalism on Columbia’s New York City campus. On Tuesday, a masked man poured red paint on the Alma Mater sculpture located in front of the Low Memorial Library, symbolizing the spilling of blood. A protest broke out elsewhere on campus, with a young woman, whose face was concealed with a keffiyeh, waving a sign cut into the shape of an inverted red triangle. It said, “Long live the intifada.”

Blatant endorsement means you don't get to call your movement "peaceful"
This infographic from Columbia's SJP came across my feed recently.
Tumblr media
Fig. 1. Infographic from the Columbia SJP Telegram channel going over terrorist groups. This is an infographic going over in detail the various terrorist groups and forces that are active in Gaza. Columbia's SJP has this pinned to their Telegram channel that they have. According to their socials they were banned from IG and moved to Telegram. Now, that alone is problematic as we have know Hamas and other terrorist groups use this as well as pro terrorist propaganda groups like Resistance News Network. (My apologies for the large collage image, if I can get better pictures I will.) If you look at the language used in the infographic you will see that all of these groups and their actions are labeled as "resistance" and "liberation". In fact, Columbia's SJP has openly stood in solidarity and supported the pogrom that Hamas and its allies committed on 10/7. These summaries are just another example of them defining recognized terrorist groups and affiliates as "freedom fighters" and justifying their violent acts. If you were to scroll through CSJP's social media you would see it replete with justification for terrorism and violence, while also calling for ceasefires and peace. Yet at no point do they condemn or call for Hamas and its allies to engage in a ceasefire or peace process, only Israel. The hypocrisy of CSJP calling for peace while justifying terrorism is not lost on myself and others on here. If you call yourself peace activists and organize peaceful protests for the sake of putting pressure on all parties to cease fighting and engage in a peace process, and you continue to support and justify terrorism...well then you're just lying to everyone about your intentions.

After hundreds of Columbia students staged a 30+ hour sit-in in solidarity with Palestine, the school administration called in the NYPD to shut down the sit-in and arrest dozens of students.
But this act of extreme administrative repression has not stopped students: we’ve set up a second solidarity encampment and accompanying picket line, and are prepared to stay until demands are met, which include as follows:
Full financial transparency
Divest from apartheid Israel
Full amnesty for students who have engaged in protests and actions supporting Palestine
Full amnesty for professors and other university workers supporting Palestine
To support arrested students, please 1) Venmo @ bcabolitioncollective, 2) call the Columbia University president’s office and demand that they drop all charges, stop harassing peaceful protestors, and accede to student demands, and 3) join, organize, and support similar actions on your campuses and in your neighborhoods!

best of luck to you and your comrades. praying for your safety and success. everyone i’ve spoken to has been blown away by you guys. 🤍🙏🏽
the kind words mean everything to us all. As we head into day 6 of the encampment it's so important that we remember why we are doing this and who we are fighting for, it will always be for Palestine and we will not stop until our corrupt administration is held accountable.

(This is the second try because tumblr did a vanishing trick with the first try. Edit: nvm it just popped up, I am going to leave this one up for good measure)
I am ashamed of my country. I am ashamed of my government, the police and these counter protestors, all of whom grew up/live in the same country and speak the same language as I do.
This is about an hour drive away from me and I want to help them so bad but I do not have the resources nor someone to go with for safety.
So I will do whatever I can online and in my closest circle.
We will never give up.
Free Palestine 🇵🇸
Liberation for all.
(ff voor de nederlanders)
Het was er gisteren dodenherdenking en gister godverdomme bevrijdingsdag waar hebben we het over?! Tf
Ik zou het heel cool vinden als we dit door het hele land kunnen trekken.

Heartfelt message from the students of Palestine to all the US students currently protesting:

"The incident marks the latest escalation against students protesting for Palestinian rights at Columbia. Last semester, the university suspended the student groups Jewish Voice for Peace, or JVP, and SJP for holding an “unauthorized event” (a walkout and art display in support of a ceasefire). More broadly, students at campuses across the country have been met with university discipline and even criminal charges as they have called for their universities to divest from companies with ties to Israel’s military — or at least for their universities to have public meetings about their investments.
Public officials have devoted extensive resources to discussing reports of antisemitism on university campuses, including in a headline-grabbing congressional hearing. The repression of student protests for Gaza has gotten comparatively little attention, not to mention abject acts of violence, including the stabbing of a 6-year-old boy in suburban Chicago and shooting of three Palestinian students in Vermont."
