How would they spend Halloween night with their partners? Liyue! version 🎃
MONDSTADT! VERSION
INAZUMA VERSION
SUMERU VERSION
(All! Liyue Characters x you! (separated))
(I hope I haven't forgotten anyone again. Enjoy!)
For Halloween, Zhongli chooses something traditional and elegant: he invites you to dinner at a secret restaurant in Liyue that boasts panoramic views of the city. Amidst the twinkling lights and moonlight, he begins to tell you ancient stories of Liyue, some so old that just hearing them envelops you in a cloak of mystery and reverence. As you sip a cup of tea, Zhongli watches you with a deep, calm gaze, as if he himself has witnessed each legend. At the end of the night, he takes you for a walk beneath the lanterns of the harbor and, on an unexpected impulse, takes your hand in his, saying that, by your side, even the ghosts of the night feel less lonely.
For Xiao, Halloween is just an excuse to patrol harder and protect Liyue. Though he doesn’t like to get involved in human festivities, he allows you to accompany him on his patrols of the Jueyun Karst cliffs. There are no costumes or decorations, just the silent night and the moon lighting the way. He tells you about the spirits he has exorcised in the past and warns that you might see unusual things. When a chilly breeze blows past him, Xiao wordlessly takes your hand to keep you close. Though it’s a night of work for him, he occasionally gives you a protective glance and, in a low whisper, assures you that he will never let anything hurt you.
Ganyu plans a quiet and magical evening with you on Mount Aozang, under the supervision of the Adeptus. She has arranged a small traditional dinner surrounded by paper lanterns and Qingxin flowers. As the full moon illuminates the lake, Ganyu tells you stories about the ancient customs of Liyue and the offerings made to the Adeptus at this time of year. Her soft, delicate voice makes everything feel ethereal. At the end of the evening, she hands you a small Qingxin flower as a memento of the evening, saying that it represents an “eternal bond” between you.
Ningguang invites you to an exclusive evening at the Jade Chamber. The night has a touch of mystery, with the palace lit only by lamps and a decoration that gives it an air of gothic elegance. Dressed in dark tones, Ningguang gives you a tour of her most valuable relics, each with its hidden and enigmatic history. She whispers to you the secrets behind certain objects, and although her expression is serene, her words envelop you in a halo of mystery. In the end, she invites you to a toast for an unforgettable night and assures you that you are among the few people she trusts to share those secrets with.
Childe invites you to a “special training” at one of the ancient ruins near Liyue. Although Halloween isn’t a big holiday for him, he says he doesn’t want to miss the chance to spend a special night with you. With his usual competitive energy, he proposes a “monster hunting game,” and it’s not long before the two of you are running around the ruins, laughing and almost forgetting the point of the game. In the end, he leans over, smiling, and tells you that as a prize for winning, you’ll have to accompany him on a “spooky walk” in the moonlight. But of course, only if you dare.
Halloween is a strange holiday for Chongyun, but he’s determined to spend it with you. He invites you to explore some of the ruins in Liyue, and though he tries to keep his composure, he gets nervous at any sound that seems “supernatural.” As you walk, he tells you about his lineage of exorcists and his experiences with spirits, though he always tries to downplay it. As the night grows darker, Chongyun moves a little closer to you, admitting that though he doesn’t believe in ghosts, the company makes you feel like his perfect protection.
For Beidou, Halloween is a great excuse for a nighttime adventure. He takes you on a ship tour, cruising the waters near the coast of Liyue as the moon lights up the ocean. She tells you stories of ghost ships and sea monsters, and although you are surrounded by crew members, there are times when you feel like you are alone in the vastness of the sea. At the end of the tour, she offers you a bottle of her finest liquor and, with a defiant smile, tells you that tonight, her boat is “blessed” with you on board.
For Halloween, Xingqiu prepares a horror storytelling session in an old bookstore. He has personally selected the best mystery books and ghost legends to read with you. His haunted expression and calm voice as he reads the tales make you immerse yourself in each story, and at each horror climax, he casts you a mischievous glance, enjoying the spooky atmosphere. When the session ends, he takes your hand and smiles, promising to write a story for both of you to be the protagonists of a mystery adventure.
Yanfei has a fun idea for Halloween: she leads a “ghost legend treasure hunt” around Liyue. She gives you clues and together you search for clues about a dark legend in the town. Each time you find a clue, Yanfei explains the origin of the legend from a legal and technical standpoint, but as the night progresses, her seriousness fades and she lets herself get carried away by the atmosphere. At the end of the hunt, she looks at you smiling and admits that it’s a night like no other, “beyond any contract.”
Hu Tao turns Halloween into her own horror show. She invites you on a “guided tour” of the Wangsheng Funeral Home, assuring you that it will be an unforgettable night. With her vibrant energy, she tells you stories of spirits and chants under her breath, all while maintaining a haunted, almost creepy expression. Every so often, she lets out creepy giggles and pretends that there’s something strange around the corner, just to see you react. When the night is over, she winks at you and assures you that if you ever need someone to “protect” you from spirits, you can always count on her.
Shenhe doesn't have a clear idea of Halloween, but she agrees to spend the night with you at Jueyun Karst. She takes you to a hidden lake, where the moonlight illuminates the water's surface and the mountains around it. Although there are no costumes or decorations, her undisturbed presence and the natural environment envelop you in a mystical halo. She tells you about the Adeptus and their experiences, each tale having a touch of mystery and a bit of melancholy. Before it gets too late, she offers you her coat and stays silent, gazing at the sky, enjoying the company in the stillness of the night.
For Yelan, Halloween is an opportunity for a “special” spy mission. She invites you to a game of stealth and chase through the less frequented passages of Liyue, where you must avoid being discovered and complete “missions” that she gives you. The night becomes exciting as she teaches you infiltration tricks, and every now and then a whisper or a knowing smile escapes. When you both manage to “escape” unseen, she congratulates you with a charming smile and promises that, when you return to Liyue, you can live another “secret” night with her.
For Xiangling, Halloween is a perfect opportunity to experiment with “spooky” recipes. She invites you into Wanmin’s kitchen and together you create themed dishes like “stuffed pumpkins” and “sweet potions.” She gets excited trying new combinations and invites you to be her “brave” taster. Between laughter, colorful lights and unique flavors, Xiangling enjoys watching your reactions. At the end of the night, she takes you out for a stroll along the harbor, both of you with full stomachs and feeling like it was a delicious and special night.
Yun Jin hosts an evening of storytelling and song-theatre on a small stage decorated with lanterns and shadows in Liyue. Dressed in an elaborate costume, she presents a story of mystery and adventure where you are her special audience. With her exciting performances and the magical atmosphere of the evening, you find yourself immersed in the story. At the end, she invites you onto the stage and, holding your hand, thanks the “audience” for their presence, even if it is only you. Yun Jin smiles, happy to have given you an unforgettable show.
Baizhu turns Halloween into a night of “medicine mysteries.” He invites you to Bubu’s pharmacy, where special remedies are prepared using “magical” ingredients. In his calm tone, Baizhu shares stories about herbs that are said to be associated with longevity and immortality. Changsheng also enjoys the evening, resting on his shoulder. At the end of the night, Baizhu offers you a tea made especially for you, assuring you that it brings good fortune and health. He gives you a warm smile, his gaze calm and protective.
Here is my masterlist, in case you are interested in any more of my work or want to send me a request <3

To Miss Laurant... Pt. 1
Tumblr media
Pairing: Lord Alfred Debling x Reader
Summary: What happens when two souls who had not found love find it within each other?
a/n: okay a bit late on watching bridgerton (don't come at me please) but I feel like Debling is a well written character and would love to see him more so mwUAH! I also wanted to give the reader a name so the last name is Laurant.
"There, one of my greatest works!" Madame Delacroix said as she finished the hem of your dress.
You admire the beading by your sleeves and how it flows by the end of your gown, which was also adorned by a cape.
"It's just us, Genevieve. You can lose the accent" You said, looking back at your childhood friend.
"Oi. I have to keep appearances, you'll never know who'd walk in those doors." She said in her regular voice. You both laugh as if you two haven't seen each other since your family moved to France. You then became a traveling performer, singing for the largest of crowds and now back home to sing for the biggest event.
"I still can't believe you're back home, and performing for the queen no less. Are you nervous?" She asks.
You press your hand on your stomach, feeling the butterflies.
"Very. I never sang for royalty before. I thank Lady Danbury for opening her home to me for my stay and offering counsel on how to approach her majesty."
"Well, the bachelor's will swoon by your talent, wit, and beauty for tonight." Madame Delacroix, she said, kneeling by the end of your dress to fix a hem.
"I'm afraid that's where you lose me Gen. I faced too many heartbreak in my life, sometimes I don't believe in the words I am singing."
Genevieve tsks at you and rises up, placing her hands by your shoulders.
"You shan't forsaken your passion for love. Who knows, maybe you shall meet a certain suitor tonight."
"Perhaps..." You said, looking back at the mirror, unsure that you believe in the feeling.

"My Lord, welcome back home." an older man said, offering his assistance to Lord Debling.
"Only temporary Buford, I do wish things do recover." Lord Debling replied, as he looks down at his cane.
Upon his mission to save a rare mammal during an unforgiving snowstorm, Lord Debling lost his footing on a weak stone by the side of a cliff and fell 20 feet down. It was remarkable that he survived the fall, but he broke his leg and he had scars around his face and torso from the turbulent fall.
His crew helped him find the nearest physician and was told he must return home to recover for the sake of his health. With much dismay, he returned back to Mayfair, hoping he could leave to complete his mission.
"Yes sir, a speedy recovery you shall have." Buford replied as he helped the Lord get into his carriage.
They rode off to the estate, where Lord Debling looks outward to the town. He accidentally made eye contact with a few townspeople and they began to whisper. The Lord whipped the small curtain closed and inhaled, catching his breath.
"Your return has spread quickly here, they've said you've cheated death." Buford said with caution.
"What I've cheated on was my mission. If I'm not back by the end of this season, the creatures would not survive the rest of the winter." Lord Debling said.
"Of course sir, my apologies. If you like, I can provide on the latest news since your last visit."
"I suppose that wouldn't hurt."
"Well, the queen is having a ball at the palace. You did also receive an invitation."
"I do not wish to entertain anyone for the matter, Buford." the tired Lord replies.
"If I may speak freely, you have not been seen in ages, my Lord. I believe some live entertainment shall lift your spirits momentarily."
The Lord ponders for a moment.
"Well, I guess I shall use my night wisely. Thank you for your counsel, Buford. Live entertainment you said?"
"Yes, a singer. She's an accomplished musician who's toured around the Americas, Asia, and Europe. I have her flyer here." Buford offered a folded paper to the Lord.
Alfred Danbury looks fondly, reading out loud your last name.
"Laurant?"
"Are you familiar with her?" Buford asks.
Lord Debling shakes his head no as he folds back the paper.
"No, I'm afraid not." He replied as opens back the window, looking outward.
As the night arrived, Lord Debling felt like he was out of practice around the high society. People often shared condolescences on his accident and women would near him, they're faces would be etched with pity.
He wanted to crawl out of his skin and be in the confinement of his home. It was like the walls of the room was closing in and rushed out as fast as he could. He slowly took off his coat and vest, leaving on his white button shirt.
He managed to get by the gardens and sat down, hissing as the ache in his leg was acting up. He drops his clothes and cane to the side and tends his knee, closing his eyes.
"Are you alright?" a soft spoken voice is heard.
He opens his eyes and faces you, as you sat in your plain dress by the quiet fountain that were etched with baby angels.
"I wish I could stop hearing that." He grumbles to himself.
"I'm sorry for asking." You said, huffing as you turned away.
Lord Debling felt horrible as he straightens up as best he could.
"Forgive my manners, all night I've been consoled and pitied for. I do not wish to feel like a wounded creature." He says, showing his cane.
You turn your head towards him again. You bow your head, understanding.
"It's alright, my apologies for striking a sour chord."
Lord Debling couldn't help but laugh and cracked a smile, a manner he has not done since his accident. He offers you a seat by him and you obliged.
"What is a maiden as yourself outside for?" He asks.
You struggle to find the right words and looked at him with kind eyes.
"This is my first ball, I was afraid I'd make a fool of myself."
"It's impossible, I do not know you well but you carry yourself with such poise." Lord Debling says.
You couldn't help chuckle, not believing his words.
"We must not let fear get to us tonight. Life is too short to squabble in the mist of doubt."
Lord Debling was beguiled of your wisdom.
"Well said, miss..." he trailed on, not getting your name.
You were about to reply till the bell tower rang.
"Oh no, I'm late!" You said, grabbing your dress and quickly running off.
"But wait, I don't know your name!" Lord Debling said, getting up.
You turned towards him, screaming out your name.
"What is yours so I may remember?"
He was about to say his title, but he stopped. You seemed so free from high society, he didn't know who you were or what your ranking was. He just saw you for, well you.
"Alfred!" He yelled back.
"We shall meet again, Alfred." You said, before running off.
Lord Debling placed his hand on his heart, feeling it race like gazelles.
He had kept his heart from ever loving something more than protecting the innocence of wildlife, and yet, you ran away and he longed for your presence once more.
He placed his outer garments, grabbed his cane and walked with purpose back at the ball, trying to find you in the sea of people. Soon, the floor cleared and an announcer walked on the platform.
"Our dearest guests, we have brought you a special talent for tonight. As she prepares to travel to the pacific this summer, she has graced us with her voice for this season. I present to you, Miss Laurant!"
Everyone cheered and a figure slowly walked onto the platform, with an almost glowing dress that illuminated more by the lights. She looked outward to the crowd, afraid with those memorizing eyes.
That's when Lord Debling knew it was you.
You looked upward to the queen, as she gave you grim look of disappointment. You looked away and tried to find peace in your stirring mind. That's when you made eye contact with a familiar face.
Alfred.
He shook his head to you, almost indicating that you had enough courage to go on.
You straighten upward and faced the orchestra by the side and you began to sing.
Lord Debling stood like a statue. Your voice captivated his ears like a songbird, and he was too afraid to move in fear you would stop.
You didn't leave your gaze on Alfred, as he was your anchor through the storm that filled your head with dread. For once in your life, you begun to understand the words you've sung about love. Something ignited you, and it was proven as there was a roar of applause that was for your performance.
You look back at the queen and she nodded in approval, smiling contently. You bow in her presence and left the platform.
The orchestra resumed the delightful tune of dance as you were congratulated by the court. Lady Danbury walked up to you, beaming with pride.
"My dear, I understood you've sung for a living but I underestimated that voice. Do not let me doubt you again." She says lively.
"Oh, you're too kind, Lady Danbury. It is you I have to share gratitude for. Thank you for having me into your home."
"Anytime, my dear. I also bring good news, her majesty is requesting a private audience with you during your stay here."
Your mouth dropped into an 'O' and you hugged Lady Danbury, then a split second letting go as you straighten yourself.
"Apologies, but this news has elated my mood of late. Thank you." You said, as Lady Danbury just gave you a beaming smile.
She was about to say something until something caught her eye. "It seems you have made an impression to a particular someone."
You don't understand what she's saying until you see Alfred, now dressed formally. He walks towards you two and bows his head.
"Lady Danbury, it's a pleasure to see you tonight. Miss Laurant, I did not expect you were tonight's performance."
"You two know each other?" Lady Danbury asks.
"Br-Briefly. We exchanged words by the garden." You said, confused as you thought Alfred was a footman of sort, but dressed similar to those in the court.
"I was blown away by your performance tonight, Miss Laurant. Perhaps when I am in the best of health, I can escort you to the dance floor sometime."
"Lord Debling, I thought you never dance at balls." Lady Danbury teases making him chuckle.
"Lord?" You ask, your eyes wide.
"I am sorry if I did not share my title at the time-" Lord Debling tried to explain but you took a step back.
"Lady Danbury, I must rest before meeting her majesty this week. Thank you both for your kind words, but I must go." You bowed before you left them in confusion.
"Did I offend her honor? I did not know my title would have her leave." Lord Debling asks, feeling as if he'd hurt you.
Lady Danbury could see his sincere features and tried consoling him.
"It is not you, my Lord. Before Miss Laurant arrived to London, she has told me she has had a troubled past. It appears you may have reminded her of something that she can't escape."
Lord Debling could only look at the direction where you left, wondering if you were alright.
Soon, you hailed a carriage and traveled to Lady Danbury's residence. You sank by the wall and began to cry, holding yourself for some comfort.
You thought Alfred was like you, free from title and expectations. You thought that maybe, you could love him.
But you can't give your heart to a Lord,
not again.
To be continued...

🐎Story/WIP Tour Tag⛰️
Thank you @the-golden-comet for the tag! This one looks interesting and I am not sure I can do it justice, but I'll give it a shot. I absolutely loved Captain Hart taking us all around the world!
Our tour guide through Breme and Sina today will be Mordrek Willets, spy with the Sinan Intelligence Services. He doesn't appear until the fourth book in The Eirenic Verses, but you'll get a little sneak peak of him today.
Here, we're looking at his diary entries of the different places he has visted in Sina and Breme, which will be coded with the country color.
Kulniryi
Capital of Sina, home to the Royal Ocean Palace, Queen Alnan College, and of course, Thieves' Quarter, home to yours truly. Major international port, which would likely be the perfect place to launch an attack if the Fuarese Union gets sick of being Sina's vassal state. Kulniryi Harbor is one of the deepest and largest ports in the world - or so Queen Susuma says. Able to accommodate dozens of merchant ships at a time, it's no wonder that vessels from all across the globe come here. At least I can always be assured a beautiful woman to romance at one of the dozens of pubs. Loud, ugly, but perhaps the most beautiful city I've ever seen. So clean, and I must grudgingly admit that the black Royal Ocean Palace looks striking against the pale granite cliffs.
Santal
Suburb of Kulniryi. Most notable for Wet Cat Tavern, run by my good friend Ganbold. He's done me far too many favors over the years. Given that he was able to gracefully exit the Sinan Intelligence Services in a much more ... diplomatic way than me, it's always brimming with good intel. And Ganbold is more than happy to calmly and rationally persuade anyone who may not be behaving correctly to leave. Without any dangerous tactics, of course. Also home to the Haratshi family. I don't really want to talk much more about that.
Heretic's Way
This was the path that the heretical Princess Yiella took out of the future land of Sina with her lover, Seinn Luridalr Breme, who subsequently blocked their exit in quite a fantastical way. Anyway, Heretic's Way is perfect for those seeking a more discreet way to travel around Sina, given that everyone's terrified of the place. Not really sure why. Sinans aren't known for being particularly superstitious, but it seems the entire country has thrown away their brains when it comes to this one little path. Or maybe it's because they keep finding half-eaten bodies scattered willy-nilly about the premises. Briar bears, to be sure. I wouldn't know anything about that. Just secondhand information.
Eavelnen
Utter piece of shit town. Ugly, useless, and the one single pub is filthy. I was pretty sure I caught multiple diseases, but at least the alcohol's strong enough to burn away any parasites that might have got their hooks into me. Can't really say much more than that the air is perfumed with horse manure and body odor. You can smell the place from a mile away.
Traifalnar
What a strange little place - like one of those fairytales they read to children. It's built on a swamp, so there are dozens of little bridges that create a lacey network of streets. The buildings are sunk into the murky soil by heavy timber pylons that are probably rotted half to hell by now, so they're girded by strong wires that hold them all up, leaning against one another and distributing the weight. The townsfolk use these wires to send baskets or messages across the streets when they're too lazy to get out and walk. Its pub, Firefly's Rest, is pretty cute, I must admit. But god, the bugs. No wonder all the townsfolk wear citronella cloaks all year round.
Wieleiss
A forgettable town. It's one of the smaller military outposts but damn, do they take themselves far too seriously. The rolling foothills of the Rimuk Mountains - aftershocks of Breme's Saint Luridalr creating her fantastical barrier - start around here, so the town has a lovely view of the hills if you're staying at the Inn Wieleiss, the tallest building in town. I will admit that their inn is excellent: clean, with a well-stocked bar. The security leaves something to be desired, though. Probably because the soldiers themselves are not of the finest quality this far from Kulniryi. Of course they're taking bribes. The place has almost no industry. They're basically private security at this point.
Yunnoun
Spooky town. Butting right up against the Rimuk Mountains, it's the most fortified outpost in the entire country, always ready at a moment's notice to attack. Most of the populace is connected to the armed forces in some way, whether they're soldiers, military wives, or contractors. Their stables are enormous and maintained with almost neurotic precision. Of course, the Sinan army does not use horses in warfare - most of the soldiers have to go right up the Rimuk Pass to engage - but they are very useful for ferrying supplies, and most soldiers are accomplished in equestrianism anyway, as they may be asked to ferry messages to other outposts. Horseback riding is a good way to keep them from getting lazy, too. There are four entrances, each guarded by multiple soldiers who do not take kindly to those without proper identification. The military headquarters squats in the center of the town, with the barracks stretching out like spiders. Its training grounds is incredibly extensive and can accommodate hundreds of soldiers at a time.
Nyulinsk Defensive Tower
A tower hammered into the Rimuk Mountains, which has always been a sore spot for the Bremish. We stuck a military fortification on their most sacred mountain: Mt. Luridalr, so named after their beloved saint. Of course Queen Kulni did that just to piss them off, and it has worked marvelously for hundreds of years. More than a few soldiers have been picked off the top while trying to perform maintenance, so the poor tower is beat all to hell. There are singe marks from flaming arrows on the interior - it has always fascinated me how well the Bremish archers can get their arrows into those tiny slits. I imagine it has something to do with their precious High Poetry. I have not been inside so cannot speak much about the interior. Queen Susuma doesn't trust me enough, I suppose. As well she should not.
Rimuk Pass
This was supposedly where Saint Luridalr stood while bringing up the mountains: it's almost like an empty doorway in the middle of the enormous range that spans the length of the continent. Well, it used to be an open door. The Bremish have fortified it to hell and back with layers upon layers of brick; I imagine dozens of their soldiers have died attempting to protect their country by building a bigger wall. And, of course, during battles, which take place almost exclusively at the Pass. Our army has installed convenient footholds to climb up the side and drop down into enemy territory. Once they are beyond the Sinan border, most know that they are unlikely to return. Many have defected upon realizing how defenseless they will be on the other side - and how little Queen Susuma cares about getting them back unless they are somehow related to the royal family.
Dropbone Caverns
A strange, curving, and terrifying network of caverns buried under the Rimuk Mountains: impurities in the rock when it was wrenched from deep in the earth. There are at least two rivers that wind through it, having percolated from the very top of the mountains on their way into the groundwater. I can confirm that this long filtration process makes for very hard water. Delicious, though. The Bremish, being superstitious fools, refuse to use the Dropbone Caverns - or any caverns under the Rimuks - as points of attack. They believe that their dead reside in some mythical Cave of All Fallen, where Saint Luridalr waits with them for the end of the world. From there, they believe that their goddess Poesy will rewrite the world and they will reincarnate with their loved ones after a long "dream." Utterly ridiculous notion and very tactically unwise, but the taboo is so strong that the Bremish Army sporadically performs sweeps through a small section to ensure that none of their people have set up camp there. Being as they only check perhaps once or twice a year, and daren't traverse very far, most of the caverns remain unmapped. There are deep ravines that can easily become one's tomb if they aren't careful.
Vieleste
Beautiful Vieleste is a military outpost close to the Bremish entrance of the Dropbone Caverns. It is also home to the Vieleste Meronym, one of the High Poet Society's religious centers. An easy rule of thumb is that if there is a meronym, there is likely a military presence as well. The High Poets and the Bremish Army are closely entangled, given that the poets help enchant weapons for the military's use. I have never heard of anywhere in Breme where there is not at least the tiniest military outpost near an official meronym, though the High Poets have retreats throughout the country where their members can work in privacy. Anyway, Vieleste is a unique place in that some of the buildings have been erected atop the ruins of older homes that were crushed by boulders triggered by the Sinans. To think that they live atop the graves of their ancestors ... very disturbing, to be honest. I have been told this is because they believe though the boulders were sent from malice, they are hewed from the Rimuk Mountains, and thus they are sacred.
Gold Cascade
Oh, how can one even speak of the Gold Cascade without breaking down in tears at its beauty? It is born from a lake at the top of one of the Rimuk Mountains, which few have ever seen. The Bremish refuse to climb the mountains, and the Sinans rarely go for pleasure. I find myself deeply curious about what it may look like up there, at the top of the world .... This thunderous waterfall is so named because at sundrop, it is lit up in glorious golden hues, making it seem a stream of citrine pouring down the mountain. Some also believe that Saint Luridalr herself hid a treasure trove at its base, but I doubt it. She did not seem the avaricious type from what I have been told. At certain times, the Gold Cascade is wreathed in rainbows, while it steams during the summer. A unique ecosystem has grown up around it, including hardy fish and beautiful ferns. However, its strength has carved out underclings through the rock that surrounds it, creating vortices that could easily drown anyone who attempts to swim there. There are a number of superstitions about damned souls, and some believe that the Cave of All Fallen begins at its base.
Miskinint Lake
Technically a sinkhole, but I'm not about to argue with the Bremish about this. It is fed from the Gold Cascade further upstream, which then turns into the Great Gold River that nourishes most of the populace until it peters out into smaller rivers around the Windswept. I have been told this is a popular swimming hole and diving spot because of its steep cliffs and great width. There are specialized species that live here, including the Miskinint crayfish. Absolutely delicious with sheep's butter.
Caichaille
A very small, isolated town near the Rimuk Mountains, upways from Vieleste and its ilk. Perhaps 100 people live here, though it may be less. There is a cave entrance close by that has been firmly closed with a large iron door, and only the High Poets are allowed inside this cave to provide alms to the dead. The town itself is ringed with a defensive boulder wall, but there is a poet's retreats on its outskirts. A really ugly one, to be honest. It looks like someone just threw together a bunch of boulders and called it a day. I imagine it was probably a young High Poet forced to do this to prove her power.
Vercingetorix
Previously named Paulemaule, its current name is in honor of one of Breme's five saints, whose claim to fame was learning how to poison arrows and kill scores of Sinans through some incurable disease. Saint Vercingetorix was eventually caught and tortured by Sinan forces, and the secret to this poetry died with her. Some of her body parts were recovered by the Bremish and are kept as relics at the meronym. Given that she killed Sinans through an epidemic, Saint Vercingetorix is the patron saint of healing, and her meronym is renowned for its focus on the medical arts. Many desperately ill Bremish come here in hopes of finding a cure for their ailments. There is also a small military outpost, as expected, but I have seen that it is poorly maintained and ill-equipped to deal with an invasion.
Bewerian
The capital of Breme, it is the largest and most prosperous town. It is separated from its adjoining suburb, Goldnin, by Mermina's Bridge, which spans the Great Gold River. Mermina was one of Breme's five saints, who reversed a terrible drought of the Great Gold River through her poetry. Bewerian is home to the Bremish Council and the War Committee, which is their central place of governance. The War Committee is subordinate to the Bremish Council, and both are informally whipped by the High Poet Society, which works autonomously and could rescind its promise to help the military at any time. There is also a court here, where the most serious of crimes are prosecuted: sedition, treason, murder, child abuse, and assault. I have been told that the trials are mostly perfunctionary and that being convicted is a near-certainty. The punishments are brutal yet appropriate, such as castration for a serial sexual offender. Can't say I have many complaints about that.
Goldnin
The primary suburb of Bewerian, this is the home to Breme's principal marketplace and the Goldnin Meronym, where the most powerful High Poets train and perform their arts. I suspect that placing the meronym in the suburb was to demonstrate their independence from the government and military, forcing high-ranking officials from the Bremish Council to make the commute if they wish to consult with the poets. This is also the location of the War Academy, where soldiers train or wait for deployment. The training grounds are large and well-equipped, while there are numerous dormitories and barracks. One can see child soldiers here, as young as 11 years old, developing their bloodlust. There are also children they title "Future Boys," who can be thrown there by their parents when as young as 6 or 7. They are forced to perform manual labor until they reach the age of entrance into the Academy.
The Windswept
A vague and mysterious area of Breme set aside for the nomadic tribes: the original inhabitants of Breme, who were slowly pushed aside as more people turned to an agrarian lifestyle. While the nomads have representation on the Bremish Council and their own system of governance, they are often treated as second-class citizens by the settled peoples, who view them as backwards and archaic. In many ways, it feels like they are an enclave within the overall country, making their own rules and settling their own disputes through ancient processes. This area is less resource-rich than the settlements, yet carefully maintained by the tribes for maximum efficiency. Seasonal migrations help to cycle the soil and allow it to rest. There are large herds of feral horses, wolves, wild pigs, and even some strange, savage flightless birds that frequently cause problems. Large herbivorous creatures known as auraks live here and are hunted down using the fearless Bremish wolfhounds, domesticated from wolves and known for their indefatigability. Apparently the settled peoples think aurak meat is disgusting and prefer their livestock.
All these fascinating places will feature, at sometime or another, in the Eirenic Verses. If you'd like to get a good idea of what Goldnin and Bewerian are like, check out 9 Years Yearning, the first book in the series!

Unexpected Chapter 12: The Beginning
Series: Unexpected
Fandom: The Royal Romance
Pairings: Maxwell x Riley x Liam x Hana
Rating: MA
Warnings: None for this chapter
Word Count: 2,351
A/N: This is it, the final chapter. But there will likely be at least one follow-up because there's still so much to explore in this universe. I might even do a spin-off series at some point. We'll see. If anyone has requests/questions for this series, please send them.
My other stuff: Master List.
Tumblr media
“I choose….. Lady Hana Lee!”
Surprised murmurs broke out through the crowd, followed swiftly by applause.
Riley watched happily from the audience as her girlfriend climbed the stage to get engaged to the new king. She ignored the whispers and sidelong glances of the rest of the court.
Everyone had expected it to be her. In the last week, she and Liam had done very little to hide their relationship. They had been spotted coming out of the hedge maze hand in hand earlier that very night, leaves in their hair, faces flushed.
She smiled as she slid her arm through Max’s. Her gaze darted around the ballroom until she found Bertrand. He looked like he’d been slapped as he stood with his glass of champagne, mouth hanging open, eyes wide, and face pale. She felt a ping of sharp satisfaction as she watched his face slowly go from white to red with indignation.
“Come.” She tugged on Max’s arm. “Let’s go congratulate the happy couple.”
When it was their turn in the receiving line, Riley hugged the new king and queen tightly, happily, kissing each one quickly on the lips, and delighting in the shocked gasps from onlookers.
Liam entwined his hand with Hana’s as they watched her walk away and whispered to his new partner in crime, “What are we going to do with her, my queen?”
Hana shivered slightly. “Unspeakable things, I hope.”
Hana had been heartbroken when Riley first told her about her relationship with Liam and Max. But when the object of her affection had proposed a unique solution that positioned her as queen and gave her full access to exploring a relationship with both the woman she loved and the man at her side, a man she liked, respected, and was attracted to, she had for once in her life chosen the path of the unknown, of adventure, of jumping off the cliff with blind faith that things would work out. She had jumped, and it was exhilarating. The public assumed her flushed face and sparkling eyes were because of Liam. Let them. That was according to plan.
Riley’s appointment as Duchess of Valtoria would be announced within the week.
Liam had been clear with all involved that he would not hide his relationship with Riley. Royal marriages were political and there was no reason to pretend otherwise. He had promised Hana that he would treat her with dignity and respect. He would not publicize their agreement, but he also refused to treat Riley as a dirty secret. They would be reasonably discreet, but if they were photographed together, there would be no denials. A simple no comment would be the only response.
The engagement tour was scheduled, the wedding day was chosen, and the honeymoon would be at an undisclosed location due to security concerns.
The undisclosed location would be Valtoria. The press would be sent on a wild goose chase to Aruba.
A full investigation had been opened into the sabotage scheme and Bertrand’s name had been removed from consideration for the vacant council seat.
Riley and Max made their way through the crowd, only to be intercepted by Bertrand. He was livid. “What just happened?”
Riley tightened her grip on Max’s arms as she smiled serenely. “What do you mean?”
“I mean, two days ago your things were moved from Ramsford and your room at the palace into the suite next to Liam’s! What changed since then?”
“Nothing.” She grabbed a champagne flute from a passing server.
“Then why aren’t you engaged?”
“Oh, I am.” Her smile turned malicious as she held her left hand up for inspection. An enormous pear-cut diamond surrounded by a cluster of smaller diamonds sparkled on her ring finger. “I’m going to be your sister-in-law. You should congratulate us.”
Bertrand’s face darkened. “I warned you what would happen if your little dalliance with my brother ruined our chances at the crown. I will disinherit him, and I will personally ensure that your visitor’s visa is revoked!”
“You’ll do no such thing.”
Bertrand spun toward the voice. “Your Majesty! I was just—”
“I know what you were doing.” Liam’s face betrayed no hint of emotion as he reached his hand out toward Riley. She took it and stepped up to his side. “And while I can’t stop you from disinheriting your brother, I can promise you that Duchess Riley’s citizenship has been fast-tracked and cannot be revoked by anyone other than myself.”
Bertrand blanched. “Duchess Riley?”
“Oh, I meant to tell you!” Riley said with exaggerated sweetness. “Liam gave me Valtoria. So once Max and I are married, he’ll be a duke like you! He doesn’t need your money anymore and neither do I. Hm. Maybe I’ll talk to Liam about giving him that council seat you wanted.”
Bertrand paled even more as he tracked Liam’s face for some sign she was lying and found none.
Without removing his eyes from Bertrand, Liam handed the woman at his side back to Max. “Why don’t you take your fiancée to dance? I’ll be there shortly to cut in.”
Riley blew a kiss to Bertrand as she followed Max to the dance floor. “Ta!”
Liam fixed Bertrand with a steely glare. “I understand you’re disappointed that House Beaumont’s sponsee wasn’t chosen as queen, but the same can be said of every other noble house here tonight. Regardless of official titles, the duchess remains very dear to me. Slights to her will not be tolerated. Any offense against her is an offense against the crown as far as I am concerned. I hope that clarifies things for you.”
“I understand Your Majesty. I apologize. I mean no offense.”
Liam gave him a curt nod before striding out onto the dance floor.
“Are you okay?” Riley asked Max as she watched Liam approach.
“I will be. I just…need a word with my brother.”
“Good luck.”
Riley went from her fiancée’s arms to her lover. She grinned up at him. “Aren’t you worried that dancing with another woman thirty minutes after getting engaged will cause a scandal?”
He returned her grin. “Let it.”
“Oh, reckless! Are you a bad boy now?”
“Hardly!” He laughed. “You know there’s no way in hell I can give Max a council seat with his very questionable background, right?”
“Good Lord, no!” She tilted her head back and joined his laughter. “He would be terrible at it! I was just fucking with Bert.”
Liam pulled her closer to him with a chuckle. “I’ll bet he loves it when you call him that.”
“Why do you think I do it?”
While Liam twirled Riley around the dance floor, Max approached his brother with a storm raging in his eyes. “I can’t believe you want to disinherit me.”
“Oh, what difference does it make?” Bertrand scowled at him. “Valtoria is one of the wealthiest duchies in the country. You’ll be fine.”
“It’s not about the money!” Max cried in distress. “Don’t you want to be my brother anymore? Don’t you love me?”
“You think I don’t love you?” Bertrand spluttered. “Why else do you think I’ve bailed you out of your messes time after time?”
“I don’t know. To protect the family name, I assume.”
“That’s what you think of me?”
Max gave him a baleful look. “You knew Riley liked me and you didn’t tell me. You yell at me all the time. You care more about your reputation than my happiness.”
Bertrand straightened his suit jacket with a sharp tug. “One of us has to consider our reputation. Heaven knows it’s not you.”
Max scuffed the toe of his shoe on the ballroom floor as he considered that. “You know what? You’re right. I’ve done a lot of stupid shit in the past, and you’ve always come along and cleaned up behind me.”
“What are you getting at?” Bertrand sneered.
Max’s trademark devil-may-care smile replaced the gloomy expression he’d started with. He clapped his brother on the back. “You’ve always been there for me before. I forgive you for trying to keep me and Riley apart.”
Bertrand gaped at him. “You forgive me?!”
“Yeah. I forgive you. All’s well that ends well, right?”
After all, he had ended up with the girl. He, Maxwell Beaumont, had gotten the girl. And not just any girl. The girl. The most perfect woman he’d ever met.
His competition had been a literal prince and somehow, inexplicably, that was his ring on her finger. He didn’t pretend to understand how it had all happened. He had just paid for the ring like she told him to.
Bertrand shook his head as his eyes tracked from Riley and Liam canoodling on the dance floor, back to the sappy grin on Maxwell’s face. “Are you stupid? You’re really going to marry her and just look the other way while she continues to fuck the king?”
Much to Bertrand’s astonishment, Max’s smile got even bigger. “Oh, I’m hoping to watch. Maybe even join.”
He’d do whatever, and whoever, she instructed him to. Her, Hana, Liam. He just wanted to be included.
“I…. that…. You know what? The two of you degenerates deserve each other!”
Max, who was also watching Liam and Riley on the dance floor, heaved a dreamy sigh. “I know. Thank you.”
Bertrand went to find his driver. Max was Riley’s problem now.
Riley stayed occupied most of the night between Liam, Max, and Hana, but the moment she was alone at the refreshment table, Madeleine swooped in on her. “How does it feel to be tossed over for your little bestie?”
Riley turned slowly to take in the other woman’s haughty expression. She repaid the jab with a shrug. “No one was tossed over, Mads. And if you’re asking how I feel about Hana being queen, the answer is great! She’ll be good at it. She’s smart, charming, and diplomatic.”
The blonde’s brows drew together in confusion. “It doesn’t bother you that he’s marrying someone else?”
“No.”
“No?”
Riley shook her head emphatically. “I never cared about being queen, Madeleine. Unlike you, my interest in Liam is personal, not political.”
“Yes. But he just got engaged to another woman!” Madeleine was becoming increasingly annoyed at her failure to get a rise out of the strumpet who had been the bane of her existence for the last three months.
Riley followed Madeleine’s eyes to where Liam was chatting with his parents, his arm wrapped around Hana. Her face brightened as she stepped closer to Madeleine and lowered her voice. “And what a woman she is, right?”
Madeleine blinked. “What?”
“Come on,” Riley smirked. “I’ve seen how you look at her.”
Madeleine’s face mottled as red blotches marred the milky whiteness of her complexion. “I have no idea what you’re babbling about.”
“Sure you don’t.” Riley stepped away with a smile. Turning her back, she plucked a strawberry from a serving platter. “You know, you sycophants all treat the crown like some sort of prize.”
“What else would it be?”
Riley lifted the fruit to her lips as she turned back to face the countess. “The crown, and all its obligations, have been nothing but an anchor around Liam’s neck. He’d be happier without it.”
“You’re so naïve.”
Riley slowly finished chewing as she eyed Madeleine up and down with a smirk. “Right. I’m the naïve one.”
“What is that supposed to mean?”
With a sparkle in her eye, Riley leaned in close and purred, “It means that I got every damn thing that I wanted and none of the crap that I didn’t. I started the summer as a waitress. I finished it with a duchy, my own money, Liam, Hana, and Max. What did you get, again?”
“I…”
“Exactly.” Riley turned and walked away while Madeleine was still trying to form a coherent response.
She made it four steps before Max was next to her. Together, they found Liam and Hana as the festivities wound down and the guests began to trail out of the ballroom.
Liam turned to the other three. “Shall we retire to the royal wing?”
“And do what?” Hana felt both apprehension and excitement punch her in the stomach.
“Not that,” Liam assured her. Then, with a wicked grin, “Unless you want to.”
Hana’s eyes widened and her breath hitched a little. “I…”
Liam grasped her hand and gave it a little squeeze. “We have our entire lives to get comfortable with each other. We can go at whatever pace you’re comfortable with.”
“Just for the record,” Max interrupted, “I am comfortable with whatever pace you like, Your Majesty.”
Liam gave him a questioning look.
Max flushed. “I know about you and Carson. I’m not wrong that you like boys too, am I?”
Curiosity and interest flickered through Liam’s eyes at the offer. With a quick glance at Riley, he told Max, “We’ll take that slow as well.”
If he had to marry someone other than Riley, he couldn’t have done better than Hana. The burgeoning relationship between the two women circumvented all the awkwardness and anxiety Riley had understandably had about his marriage to another woman. And Hana would make a good queen. He was confident of that.
Max’s offer was intriguing, and the idea of sex with Hana wasn’t exactly off-putting. But Riley was the one who had his heart. With four people in the mix, there were a lot of moving parts and he wanted to proceed at a pace that would ensure plenty of time for everyone to process things as they went and minimize fallout from any potential landmines they hadn’t foreseen.
With a lot of intentional relationship-building and a little luck, they could make this unconventional arrangement work. Not just work but thrive. He was sure of it.
As the four of them made their way toward the royal wing, Max grasped Riley’s hand. Riley placed her other hand in Liam’s, and he, in turn, took Hana’s. He gave his new queen a reassuring smile then turned his gaze to Riley and Max as he told them all, “This is only the beginning, loves.”

ROUND 1C, MATCH 8 OUT OF 16!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Propaganda Under the Cut:
Plates:
tbh I don't expect her to win, not really, and I wouldn't at all be surprised if she's not even included in the poll. But she's got a special place in my heart and I felt she deserved a nomination. The plates come in a set of 12, each depicting another part of the fairy tale, with gorgeous art and a real crystal serving as an element of each piece. When I was born, my parents saw one plate in the hospital gift shop depicting Cinderella running away from the palace, with her glass slipper lying discarded on the steps - made of the real crystal. My family has always been poor, but they bought me that plate and I grew up looking at her, and when I got married, I picked a dress and hairstyle that reminded me of her. Cinderella has always been one of my favorite fairy tales and although there are a lot of reasons I relate to it, it's undeniable that the plate played a big part in my appreciation for the tale. There are a few other entrants that even I might vote for over Collector's Plate Cinderella, but as I said, I feel she at least deserved a nomination. She's beautiful. Here's a link to a picture of all twelve plates, if you're interested: https://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/set-12-franklin-mint-heirloom-1788541079
Ella:
absolute dork. only watched Total Drama World Tour (the musical-esque season) and was like "oh!! i like singing!!"
all animals on the island LOVE her, to the point where in the intro, when another character pushes her off a cliff, not only do birds catch her and give her a slow, safe descent, but the animals at the top of the cliff *attack the other person*

2 - 8 A Deadly Tour
I found a new website where I can make cursed murdle gifs.
Tumblr media
So uh duke of vermillion crunch
I've turned him into a meme because he's so useless he had NO lines in the first series-
DON'T READ THE EPISODES WITHOUT READING THE BOOKS!!
VIOLET: Oh, come on. Are we really gonna let that geezer stop us from having a good time?  LOGICO: You know… the invitation really didn’t sound like you were inviting me over for a ‘good time’.  VIOLET: Let’s take a tour of the grounds!
And so, Logico reluctantly follows Violet through the gorgeous courtyard. Only problem, she’s ALSO giving a tour to Baron Maroon and Signor Emerald.
VIOLET: Welcome, to the VIOLET ISLES!
Logi has a looming sense of dread of course, but he can’t help but admire the beautiful complex. The buildings are gigantic and flawless, and the courtyard is made of a bedazzling maze trimmed to perfection.
MAROON: [snort] My palace is better… LOGICO: Oh, shut the FUCK UP! MAROON: [growl…]
Emerald is inspecting every corner carefully, looking for anything he can pickpocket. Violet smacks him.
VIOLET: By the way Logico, while you’re here… do you think you could figure out why the OG tour guide is dead?
She points to a body (A sentence present in nearly every episode).
LOGICO: …such… a fun vacation already
The first thing that catches Logico’s attention is the giant stone statue of Lord Violet. He’s able to get a better look at his figure now - a gazelle creature, with a long flowing mane… and a disturbing human-like mask.
LOGICO: So this… is your father? VIOLET: Yep!
Logico is quite confused at how they could possibly be related - Lord Violet doesn’t even resemble a person, more so some unearthly beast. But he can’t say that out loud.
Baron Maroon quickly gets in the way.
MAROON: Want to go out with me.
He’s well over 70, and Violet is in her 20s.
VIOLET: That’s gonna be a hard pass thanks!
There’s a torn-up bag of acorns with a squirming beast inside. Kind of a weird weapon choice, but Logico doesn’t want to go near it even for clues. Depressed from being unable to steal some pricey trinkets, Emerald is drowning his sorrows in wine on a bench.
LOGICO: Let me guess - you got that from Father Mango! EMERALD: Not… every bottle of wine is from Father Mango. There is other wine.
Logico encounters something familiar on the cliffs. ‘The Scimitar of Death’- it’s a marot card (albeit not a very normal one)! Suddenly, he remembers Irratino!
LOGICO: Oh no.
Irratino feels this, and quickly tries to send Logico a telegram. But nothing is reaching. He then feels a new kind of pain - Logico already forgot about him??
The murderer was Maroon, apparently because he was that mad that Logico told him to shut up. Violet shoos him off.
VIOLET: When the civil war ended, the so-called Free Drakonia never made a claim to this island, and so it became an extrajudicial territory. Unlike those barbarous Reds, we do not execute our prisoners - we simply force them to leave! LOGICO: How polite, I suppose. Now, I have some questions…
He can’t wait to lore-dive into this incredible settlement.
The end!
I'm so excited for minimurdle now that i know it has the same suspects.
BABY EMINENCE.
The Roblox Murdle RP server now has over 40 characters, and also

^ I don't like this at all!

Mesa Verde National Park, CO (Sept 2023)
Cliff Palace. You need a special tour guided by a ranger to access any of the cliff dwellings, and this hike involves climbing several long ladders along with many strangers. A fascinating, powerful place that has led me to researching more of the indigenous history of the place that I live.

Fighter #01 - Mario
Tumblr media
- Mario's actually a great cook! He and Luigi make Italian food every Monday, using tons of delicious recipes they've learned over the years. The bros even have a secret four-cheese pizza recipe that's been passed down within their family. Sometimes, Peach and Daisy help them in the kitchen and taste-test everything to make sure it comes out perfect.
- Don't tell anyone, but Mario secretly uses fireballs to heat up the pans when no one is looking. He knows it's not the safest thing to do, but hey, it gets the job done quicker (and if there’s one thing someone might need while feeding all of the Smash Bros, it’s speed!).
- He and FLUDD are usually in charge of watering the gardens. His favorite part of the job is helping Peach tend to her vegetables.
- He keeps his cape tucked underneath his overalls at all times. One never knows when they might need the power of flight on their side, and Hylia knows it’s helped him on more occasions than he’d like to admit. Plus, he gets the added bonus of being able to whip it out and make the most dramatic entrances possible.
- He has two large piggy banks that he keeps atop the dresser in his room. Bowser may tease him for it, but how else is he supposed to store all of those coins?
- Let’s be honest, he definitely has more hidden somewhere.
- If anyone ever needs money, Mario would be more than happy to give them however much they require. Wario has attempted to take advantage of this kindness numerous times.
- Ever since he visited Bowser's oriental palace, Mario has been really interested in Japanese culture. He and Ryu talk a lot about Japan's history and customs together. Mario wants to speak to Kazuya about it too but is afraid he'll get thrown off a cliff.
- He's very grateful that Kazuya didn't try to kill him at any point in the past (unlike some of the other DLC fighters), and he doesn't want to risk changing that at any point in the future.
- Cappy and FLUDD initially got off to a rocky start (Cappy didn’t like how literally FLUDD took everything, and FLUDD thought Cappy was too obnoxious), but over time, they became best buds.
- When a new fighter joins the roster, Mario is usually the one who gives them the mansion tour and introduces them to the rest of the crew. If, for whatever reason, Mario’s not around to do it, he trusts Luigi to take his place.
- Mario and Peach are both subscribed to the Cake of the Month club, in which they get a box with a cake recipe, ingredients, and decorations each month. As soon as they get their boxes in the mail, they dedicate the whole day to baking their cakes and eating them together afterward.
- He used to like brussel sprouts when he was younger, but grew to despise them as time went on. He'll often tell the kids to eat them even though he won't eat them himself.
- This guy’s got nearly every fighter beat in terms of leg strength. So far, he has the record set for highest amount of leg presses in one sitting.
- “It’s-a me, Mario!” is one of his favorite ways to introduce himself to folks.
- Mario, along with the rest of the original twelve, put tons of different safety protocols in place at the mansion, compiling all of them into a handbook for new fighters to read upon arrival. That way, fighters know how to respond to any and every situation, and the safety of the mansion is always ensured.
- One day, he wants to travel to other fighters' universes because he's genuinely interested in their hometowns and cultures. Not to mention the food; Mario is always down to try new food.
- Mario will sometimes ask fellow fighters to help him with advertising campaigns for his plumbing business. He’ll happily compensate them for their efforts and give them credit where it’s due, even if they offer to do it for free or don’t wish to be mentioned.
- He's the first one called whenever there's a plumbing issue. He's happy to help, but wonders why they can't just get Luigi to do it half the time.
- Mario primarily speaks English, but if he has to curse, he’ll do that in Italian.
- That being said, Mario swears like a sailor in Italian. It’s rare to hear coming from him, but when he curses, it’s kinda scary. Most fighters are in shock because of how angry he is, but they don’t understand what he’s saying. Luigi, on the other hand, looks like he’s seen a ghost because he knows exactly what’s coming out of his brother’s mouth.
- Mario rarely ever gets sick. Lucas thinks this is interesting considering he doesn't eat his brussel sprouts.
- Mario and Luigi were bullied when they were younger, so whenever Mario sees someone getting picked on, he gets pissed and immediately comes to the victim’s defense.
- He’s an undefeated Whack-A-Mole champion. The only person who has ever come close to beating him is Luigi.
- Mario is adamant about not letting Waluigi onto the main roster. He wants to avoid as much headache for his brother as possible. Wario, as one might guess, is not a fan of this.
- Mario, Luigi, and the Toads played major roles in planning out, constructing, and doing the plumbing for Smash Mansion. They had to hire a professional to do the electricity, though.
- Mario loves Princess Peach, but never forcefully tries to win her affection. He learned his lesson after the whole ordeal on the moon. However, that doesn’t stop him from getting jealous protective whenever Bowser tries to court her.
- Mario sometimes invites Pauline and her band to perform live at the mansion.
- It makes him nostalgic to see the younger fighters playing together and messing around with each other. It reminds him of when he and Luigi were kids.
- Although he and Bowser are typically enemies, there are times in which they'll set aside their differences and not immediately try to get at each other’s throats. They’ve even been spotted playing Go Fish together once.
- Mario will never wear his hat on the mansion roof. There was a party up there once, and he was standing outside on the balcony when a strong gust of wind suddenly knocked his hat off. The poor guy nearly fell over the railing trying to retrieve it (and this was before he started constantly wearing that cape). Ever since that incident, Mario refrains from bringing his precious cap up there (and now that cape is on 24/7).
- Consider Mario and FLUDD professional firefighters because if there's a fire in the mansion, they’re always the first ones trying to put it out.
- Considering how long he's known them, the original twelve are like family to Mario, and he’ll stop at nothing to protect them. Over time, he’s built strong bonds with most of the later fighters as well. He’s still getting acquainted with the newcomers of Ultimate, but he believes that, in due time, they’ll become just as close.
- Every Valentine's Day, Mario gives Peach a bouquet of carnations with an adorable note.

Undine
Chapter 8
Read from the beginning
Undine hadn't realized how constraining the walls of the palace were until she found herself touring the city. There were still far too many people, far too many noises, the buildings too numerous and too large.
But at least out here, she could see the sky and feel the breeze on her skin.
It seemed to Undine that she wasn't alone in such sentiments. The princess Alda seemed, if not completely at ease, then less tense. She even cracked a small smile at some of Gerda’s jokes as they rode through the city.
The central plaza was magnificent, lined with great stone buildings that reminded Undine of dazzling white cliffs. Stone masons were still busy at work tending to the storm damage. Alda and Gerda were drawn into a discussion with an important looking foreman, leaving Undine to stand awkwardly on her own.
The open space was not as terrible as the rest of the city, but she still felt herself longing for home, for the sea breeze and the sound of…
Her ears pricked. Over the bustle of crowds, she did hear running water like the low murmur of a stream. It tugged at her and she was inexorably drawn towards a fountain that stood before one of the marble edifices.
The water was clear and sparkling in the morning sunshine but the sight and sound was quickly forgotten as attention focused entirely upon a statue that occupied the center of the fountain. It was a woman, tall and generously curved, standing proudly as she rode crashing waves.
“The Spirit of the Ocean” a plaque read.
"They'll never be able to capture her true splendor," murmured a voice in Undine's ear.
She flinched away from the intrusion, clapping a hand defensively over her ear. Spinning, she found a familiar figure next to her, also gazing at the statue.
Kuhleborn had traded his monk's attire and any pretense of humility for fine cut clothes and an expression of open disdain.
He gestured towards the fountain.
"How could they?" he asked bemusedly. "They are tiny little things, desperate to understand things beyond their comprehension."
Just as in her parents' house, for a brief moment, the edges of him blurred. She had an impression in her mind of howling winds and snapping trees and raging thunder.
Her head began to throb and she tore her eyes away from him.
"What do you want?" she mumbled as she squeezed her eyes shut.
He scoffed.
"Now, now," he said. "Your dear mother is worried sick about you. I'm simply checking in on you for her sake."
Her eyes snapped open.
"My m-"
The question died in her throat as her eyes fell once more on the statue at the center of the fountain… a personification of the spirit of the ocean.
The pain in her head flared. The sights and sounds of the square built to an intense cacophony. The sound of the water in the fountain, the voices of the people milling about, the sunlight streaming between the clouds… it was all suddenly too much. Another horrible, dizzying moment and she imagined she could hear the wordless whispers of the earth and the trees and the wind.
She wasn't ready. Stop.
She clenched her eyes shut once more.
"Breathe," she told herself, "breathe…"
Slowly, mercifully, the world resolved itself back to something she could make sense of.
"I don't…" she managed. "I don't know you. My mother lives in a house by the sea. I never met you before in my life."
His laughter boomed.
"Oh we have met, little one. I'm certain you don't remember yet, but we have met before even in this life. When you were just a babe, ever so fragile and helpless, it was I who delivered you to your home."
Her heart skipped a beat.
She cracked open an eye and he was just a man once more. She could almost believe that.
"Wh-what did you say?"
He made a dismissive wave with his hand.
"It was nothing," he said. "I merely acted on the behest of my sibling, to whom I owed a favor."
She didn't want to hear any more. She needed not to know.
He grinned wickedly and leaned in conspiratorially with a crooked finger.
"Would you like to know a secret?" he purred. "You weren't the only child I carried away from worried parents that night."
Her parents' daughter, their real daughter, the one whose place are had taken.
"Is she alive? Where is she?"
His grin widened.
"I wouldn't want to spoil that surprise. You've always been too clever for your own good. I'm sure you'll solve the mystery sooner than later."
She blinked and he was gone, the only sign he had ever been there an uncanny chill in the air.
A drop of rain splashed on her cheek and she was surprised to see the clear sky had grown grey with clouds.
“Undine?”
A hand gently touched her shoulder, seeming to send a jolt through her. Undine whirled to find Alda. The other girl pulled her hand back in shock at the suddenness of Undine’s movement.
“Are you alright?” the princess asked.
Undine raised her eyes briefly to meet Alda’s hazel green eyes. The color was lovely, reminding Undine of the soft grassy hills by the coast, reminding her of home. The princess's face was filled with genuine concern, any prickly defenses momentarily forgotten.
Raindrops began to patter around them in the plaza.
“I… I don't know.”

Mesa Verde National Park (No. 20)
The entrance to Mesa Verde National Park is on U.S. Route 160, approximately 9 miles (14 km) east of the community of Cortez and 7 miles (11 km) west of Mancos, Colorado. The park covers 52,485 acres (21,240 ha) It contains 4,372 documented sites, including more than 600 cliff dwellings. It is the largest archaeological preserve in the US. It protects some of the most important and best-preserved archaeological sites in the country. The park initiated the Archaeological Site Conservation Program in 1995. It analyses data pertaining to how sites are constructed and utilized.
The Mesa Verde Visitor and Research Center is located just off of Highway 160 and is before the park entrance booths. The Visitor and Research Center opened in December 2012. Chapin Mesa (the most popular area) is 20 miles (32 km) beyond the visitor center. Mesa Verde National Park is an area of federal exclusive jurisdiction. Because of this all law enforcement, emergency medical service, and wildland/structural fire duties are conducted by federal National Park Service Law Enforcement Rangers. The Mesa Verde National Park Post Office has the ZIP code 81330. Access to park facilities vary by season. Three of the cliff dwellings on Chapin Mesa are open to the public. The Chapin Mesa Museum is open all year. Spruce Tree House is also open all year, weather permitting. Balcony House, Long House and Cliff Palace require tour tickets for ranger-guided tours. Many other dwellings are visible from the road but not open to tourists. The park offers hiking trails, a campground, and, during peak season, facilities for food, fuel, and lodging; these are unavailable in the winter.
The park's early administrative buildings, located on Chapin Mesa, form an architecturally significant complex of buildings. Built in the 1920s, the Mesa Verde administrative complex was one of the first examples of the Park Service using culturally appropriate design in the development of park facilities. The area was designated a National Historic Landmark District in 1987.
