This is my latest Franklin Mint doll! The ballerina in the front - based on a very well known photo of Marilyn taken by Milton Greene in 1954.
These aren’t all of my Franklin Mint dolls. I have 6 others. But I thought this one would look best here. These dolls are probably my most favorite “Marilyn items” that I own. They aren’t cheap unless you get very, VERY lucky. Tbh this one had a price you don’t see too often (although I still shouldn’t have bought it but I just couldn’t pass it up!)
There’s different styles of the dolls. My favorite is the style of dolls behind the new doll. But I still hope to have all of them one day. And idk if you guys know who Jean Norman is…but he makes the most stunning, customized Marilyn dolls. So much detail. He is extremely talented. I hope to own at least one in my lifetime.
As usual, I went on a ramble. But…ya, this is my new doll!!

Produced by Franklin Mint in 1999, the "Millennium Miss Piggy" porcelain doll was made to celebrate the upcoming new millennium.
The doll was dressed in a velvety black and silver gown, with a feather boa, a tiara, and a pearl necklace. She also came with a gold noisemaker with "2000" printed on it.

To commemorate the 10th anniversary of the James Cameron film, in 2007 Mattel released a Titanic Barbie, depicting Barbie as Rose DeWitt Bukater, standing on the front of the titular ship.
I really like the box design on this one - it is subtle, but very effective.
I haven't seen the movie Titanic in a long time but the dress strikes me as a fairly good likeness.
There are a number of other fashion dolls depicting Rose and other characters from Titanic, though not produced by Mattel (but that still show up on a search for "Barbie"). For example, there is an extensive Franklin Mint series, featuring the same red dress among a variety of others.
And yes, it is a considerably more extensive collection.

ROUND 1C, MATCH 8 OUT OF 16!

Propaganda Under the Cut:
Plates:
tbh I don't expect her to win, not really, and I wouldn't at all be surprised if she's not even included in the poll. But she's got a special place in my heart and I felt she deserved a nomination. The plates come in a set of 12, each depicting another part of the fairy tale, with gorgeous art and a real crystal serving as an element of each piece. When I was born, my parents saw one plate in the hospital gift shop depicting Cinderella running away from the palace, with her glass slipper lying discarded on the steps - made of the real crystal. My family has always been poor, but they bought me that plate and I grew up looking at her, and when I got married, I picked a dress and hairstyle that reminded me of her. Cinderella has always been one of my favorite fairy tales and although there are a lot of reasons I relate to it, it's undeniable that the plate played a big part in my appreciation for the tale. There are a few other entrants that even I might vote for over Collector's Plate Cinderella, but as I said, I feel she at least deserved a nomination. She's beautiful. Here's a link to a picture of all twelve plates, if you're interested: https://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/set-12-franklin-mint-heirloom-1788541079
Ella:
absolute dork. only watched Total Drama World Tour (the musical-esque season) and was like "oh!! i like singing!!"
all animals on the island LOVE her, to the point where in the intro, when another character pushes her off a cliff, not only do birds catch her and give her a slow, safe descent, but the animals at the top of the cliff *attack the other person*

Look at this weird thing I just thrifted. Apparently it's the ball to a Sir Francis Drake falling ball gravity clock. Would have loved to see a full working version but it's still neat just as an ornament.
I'd like to clean it up properly and try harder to explore its insides but I'm afraid of ruining it in case it's actually valuable (hit me up if you're an antiques enthusiasts or horologists with additional knowledge!).
Here's a pic from the op shop just to show the base a bit better.

In 1997, Franklin Mint released a limited edition porcelain music box, called "Muppets on the Nile."
The box depicted Miss Piggy as Cleopatra and Kermit as a servant fanning the fabulous queen. The base had a pyramid shape and the box was covered by a glass dome.
