2006's Children of Men is a dystopian horror story about the decline of civilisation. Watching it now, in 2022 it feels very prophetic. #sweetnightmares #horrorfan #horrorfilm #horrorcomics #comics #comicfan #ukcomics #indycomics #indyfilm #comicwriter #comicart #creators #filmart #ecomic #smallpress #vfx #clipstudiopaint #photography #childrenofmen #fascism #policestate #immigration #babies #scifi #sciencefiction #scifihorror https://www.instagram.com/p/CmcV971svKn/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

*#sonofgod #childrenofmen #breakingbad* http://ChristianityOriginal.com/Church As Jesus went on from there, he saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax collector's booth. “Follow me,” he told him, and Matthew got up and followed him. While Jesus was having dinner at Matthew's house, many tax collectors and sinners came and ate with him and his disciples. When the Pharisees saw this, they asked his disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?” On hearing this, Jesus said, “It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. But go and learn what this means: 'I desire mercy, not sacrifice.' For I have not come to call the (so-called) righteous, but (those who acknowledge they're) sinners.” Matthew 9:9-13

Children of Men Film Review
*this review will contain spoilers*
Children of Men, was directed by Alfonso Cuarón, and released in 2006. It takes place in a dystopian society and follows the main character, Theo Faron (Clive Owen) on his journey throughout England to save society’s last hope, a pregnant teenage girl. In this futuristic world set in 2027, the world is in ruins after being hit with an infertility crisis. With the youngest person in the world, nicknamed Baby Diego’s death in the beginning of the movie it seems as if society has lost all hope and has given up on its future. Global warming and pollution are evident in the movie as most of it sets a dark, dirty, and depressing setting. The main plot of the movie begins when Theo is abducted by the leader of “The Fishes” an underground rebel group, fighting for equal rights for the refugees. The refugees, nicknamed ‘Fugees' are illegal immigrants trying to get into the UK because it is their only hope at survival. Throughout the movie we see these people being mistreated by soldiers with guns, as they are killing them in the streets and locking them up in cages for everyone to see. We also see as the regular citizens of the UK (such as Theo) are ignorant of their existence and moving along as if their human rights are not being stripped from them on display for the world to see.

A certain scene that really stood out to me from the movie is the one where Kee and Theo are hiding inside one of the buildings in the refugee camp because of the ongoing conflict in the streets. Kee is holding her baby close to her chest while Theo is on top of her in order and protecting her from possible gunshots that are being shot in their direction. In this scene, we watch as Theo Kee and the baby get up after they hear the shots have stopped and as they are walking down the hallway the refugees around them reach their hands out towards the baby in disbelief. Because of the sentimental film music playing in the background of this scene, the baby’s cry and the real sounds of the faint gunshots this scene adds a lot to the tone of the movie and symbolizes how much hope this one life brings to people in this society.
Another scene that stood out to me from the movie in terms of how well it was shot is the last scene where Theo, Kee and the baby have escaped the refugee camp and are on a boat in the middle of the sea waiting for the Human Project, a secret organization that is said to be looking for a cure to the infertility crisis. The camera is held still however the boat is rocking as the main characters are having their final moments of the film. The shaky effect of the rocking of the boat helps convey the ending of the film and its uncertainty. We watch Theo die on the boat as Kee is telling him she will name her baby daughter after the son he lost, Dylan. This scene was a good final scene to the movie because it left the viewer thinking about the future of this dystopian world as the ship called Tomorrow, another reference to the future of this universe, is seen in the distance.
Overall I would give this movie a 7/10 simply because personally I am not the biggest fan of depressing dystopian movies. Even though Kee’s pregnancy added a light to the film, I still felt as if too many factors were very sad and dark (Julian’s death, the killing of innocent people in the streets, the refugee camp and Theo’s death). However, it was also weirdly relieving to see our world is not that messed up.

“Children of Men”
youtube
I have always appreciated the movie “Children of Men” for various reasons. Aside from the technical aspects of the film and it’s obvious brilliance - I’ve always found this story to be immensely important with it’s sobering social commentary.
I do not know what the future holds for humanity in real life as we know it, but I do certainly pray it does not share any resemblance to the dystopian imagery of this bleak & tragic story. Oh! and if you have NOT seen this movie - this video is spoileriffic so yeah - don’t ruin it for yourself.
Love this film - my favorite thing Clive Owen has done (that I’ve seen thus far) and same for director Alfonso Cuarón (although I haven’t seen all of his work either). Absolutely Brilliant!

Children Of Men
"Children Of Men" is a future based movie about a social crisis. The main character Theo is a news reporter from His Theo (Clive Owen) is not an academic but a mid-level bureaucrat, and his connection to a government minister is less close and less lofty. When the radicals approach him, it is in part because one of them is his ex-wife, Julian, and all they ask from him is that he obtain papers that will enable a young African refugee named Kee to travel from London to the coast. He does, but the documents require him to go with her, and it soon converts clear that she is pregnant. The first woman so blessed in two decades.

What I love about this movie is its theme. It expresses the feeling and emotion of the scene through the use of real colour as one of the narrative elements in the filmmaking industry. For example, some parts of the town where the refugees live, it has a dark-themed colour to it that shows that they are in poverty, and the shape they are living in. Furthermore, I saw Theo trying his best to save Kee in any possible way. However, one of the most touching scenes I saw in this film is the part that Kee and Theo are in the middle of the fight between the fishes and the British special force. Because both sides stop shooting and ceasefire their weapon because they are all here the baby crying and everybody is in shock of such a miracle. That shows how much everyone cared about this event, and it feels like a revolution to everyone because the youngest person on the planet was eighteen, who passed away before the climax of the plot in this film.  in this future world that intrigues. Then, when the action starts, what I found surprising was the freshness of direction that made me react to ammunition and violence as if I'd never seen them in a movie before. If the script weren't so wonderfully leavened with wit, it would be a grim and scary movie at times.
Tumblr media
At the end of the movie, we see a part where Theo finds the boat to pass the water border between refugee land and British citizen land to save Kee and her child. If I have to rate this movie from 1 to 5. it would be a 5. I could not find any problem with the plot nor the setting of the movie. The story was entertaining, and I enjoyed it. Rate: 5/5.

Sage along with sweetgrass, red cedar and tobacco are one of the four plants considered sacred by my First Nations Peoples. Sacred plants all seem to have one thing in common - the versatility with which they are used. Sage, depending on the particular culture, can be used in medicine pouches, spread over the floor of a sweatlodge, wrapped around sacred implements, used for healing, purify people and dwellings, healing and calming. Many times have I used sage or sweet grass to cleanse and calm myself or a place, it is . Watch this short video, here's ezactly how to do yourself in the time honored and sacred haudenosaunee way. Try it. Sage and sweet grass is easy to obtain. Get yourself a clam shell or abalone shell and use your hands and follow along what is instructed here. Many thanks to Trent University and the elders there for sharing this ancient knowledge with the races. #rainbowwarrior #haudenosaunee #lenape #4biddenknowledge #verbotenknowledge #Atlanteans  #AtlanticOcean #balance   #ChildrenofLight  #childrenofmen  c#ircle  #wayofthepeacefulwarrior #JamesHarnerGroup #JamesHarnerAuthor #2020vision #expnation #CloserClan #UpSellYourHome #Carrolconnects #Abundance #BuildingLegacies #MindOverMatter #Energy #DjediOrder #WokeThinking #StayWoke #Soul Truth #WhiteLodgewisdom https://www.instagram.com/p/B9J-J1Hn2yk/?igshid=jkdw03ch0zeo

Not Ya Daddy’s Son
Children of Men is a film about the end of the world, very similar to what we are presumably facing today. The premise of the film is that the end of the world has come because women are no longer able to conceive. It is a plague of infertility. You also see immigrants struggling to find sanctuary and asylum in Britain. Both fertility and immigration are major topics of discussion in our US government today.
The platform of Trump and his administration is “making america great again” and emphasizing how america is not a country if it does not maintain its borders (a very white social construct). The rhetoric surrounding immigrants has been violent as they are called rapists and drug dealers, etc. Immigrants are heavily criminalized and we have seen them put in cages and thrown around. However, this administration is not the first to conduct raids or deport immigrants and reinforce the notion that they are illegals or aliens. Geroge W. Bush played a role in dehumanizing and deporting immigrants and Obama’s administration deported even more than his predecessor. The topic of immigrants and their humanity is definitely seen in this film and although it was published in 2006, a lot of the imagery can be seen in our current climate in 2019.
The woman’s body has also been a topic for the past few years as well, mainly at the table talks of old, white, men. What else is new? 10 states on the southern side of the US have passed anti-abortion, anti-choice laws. While the film concerns fertility and the inability to birth children, the context as to today’s abortion laws partially reflects this. It is believed that a few deceased from 2019, the US population will be majority Latinx. People of color already are the majority although they are considered to be minorities. White men have become fearful that they are on the brink of extinction! Families of color tend to have more children than white families and this coupled with the fear of “illegal aliens” (who we have become conditioned to think equals Mexicans and other Latinx groups we assume are Mexican) are said to be influencing the abortion ban laws. The 10 states that have passed it are majority white. Living in a time where people want to “make america great again” means there are more extreme efforts to preserve whiteness. These laws also include the criminalization of miscarriages. Ultimately, poor people and people of color, like Black women will be disproportionately affected by these laws.

In the film, humanity is saved by…. A BLACK WOMAN. She is the only person known to be with child and she beautifully gives birth to a baby girl. What a testament to the work that Black women do for the liberation of all walks of life. In class, we have talked about how Black women are the future, and I have found no lies detected.
