There is a period when I patronized Tomato Café & Grill often as it is located near where I worked. Today, I dropped in to their Northpoint City outlet to try their revamped menu. Flipping through the menu, I came across the New York Pork Chop & Kurobuta (S$16.50++) so I went with it. Topped up S$2.90++ for a soup and drink. It came with a 180g centre cut of loin chops, paired with Kurobuta sausage and served with black pepper sauce. Also included are a house salad and spaghetti aglio olio.

....are all of you named after fruits? Can you name yourself after vegetables too or is it just fruits??? Also give Milton back he has been through too much religious torment already
Sorry, late on this ask. Okay, so basically, we aren't like, named after fruits from birth - I'm going to use Lemon as an example cause she's a little bitch and you should go send them so much hate right now for being alive here's her @ - @lemon-frog-tog
Like most of our members, Lemon joined as Sadie - a boring old lesbian with a boring lesbian name. But once they joined our organization, Apple (our prophet and savior) bestowed upon her a fruit - Lemon, of course. From then on, she has only been referred to as Lemon - that is her name now, as far as we know or care.
We do not name ourselves, we are named by the prophets - either green or red Apple. Although, I guess Milton didn't do much naming when he was here.
Fig and Lemon gave a few honorary fruit names while Apple was away but they are not necessarily permanent or official - as only Apple has the ability to bestow fruits.
As for the whole "can you be named a vegetable" thing - we consider fruits to be fruits by their botanical definition rather than their culinary definition. So for example, Cherry Tomato (or Shrimp Man) is a valid fruit assignment because a tomato is technically a fruit. So gourds and peppers would also be valid as far as fruit assignments go (but in my humble opinion, they are lesser. Secondary citizens, if you will).
Also we did give Milton back. Yes - GAVE. We LET him get away, he did not "escape," contrary to what you may have heard...
This is why many individuals who are not members may also have been assigned fruits - for example, that heinous muppet fucker was assigned Kiwi and the rotten trad cunt we refer to as Pomegranate.

[image id: various produce, mostly tomatoes, spread over a grainy countertop. The produce is mostly grouped by variety. Only the lemon cucumbers are in a bowl. End image id]
Haven’t posted any harvest photos yet this year because I don’t usually arrange them very nicely, but I put a bit more effort into this one from a few days ago. My favorite tomato of all time is the freaky yellow pear that looks like four grown together.
Varieties pictured (top to bottom, left to right)
Tomatoes- Black Beauty, Yellow Pear, Black Cherry, Pork Chop, German Johnson, Sungold
Beans- unknown variety of long bean
Eggplant- Millionaire, Japanese (by the bowl)
Cucumber- Armenian, Lemon (bowl)
Summer Squash- Zephyr, Zucchini

Astons Specialities had this Farmers Beef Stew (S$14.80) on the menu so I decide to give it a try. Came with mashed potato and a side dish which I opted for a house salad. The beef was fork tender and the gravy robust which goes well with the creamy mashed potato. And oh, mum wasn’t hungry so she just watches me eat. :D

Sałata z ośmiornicą, pomidorkami, oliwkami, kaparami, rukolą i dzikim ryżem
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Najczęściej jej mięsiste macki trafiają do sałat, duszonych warzyw (pomidory, ciecierzyca, fasola), makaronów i risott.
Wyrazistości dodał jej czosnek z oliwą z oliwek i sokiem z cytryny.
Ciekawa jestem czy Wam to połączenie przypadnie do gustu?
Składniki:
2/3 szklanki dzikiego ryżu ok. 250 g macek ośmiornicy (gotowanych) duża garść rukoli garść pomidorków koktajlowych pół szklanki oliwek (zielonych lub czarnych) 2 łyżki kaparów 1/2 cebuli 2 ząbki czosnku kilka łyżek oliwy z oliwek e.v. 1-2 łyżki soku z cytryny łyżeczka suszonego oregano sól i czarny pieprz do smaku
Wykonanie:
Dziki ryż gotuje się długo, ok. 30-40 minut, więc zacząć od niego. W małym garnku zagotować wodę, osolić, wsypać ryż i zająć się resztą.
Cebulę i czosnek obrać. Cebulę pokroić w cienkie półplasterki. Czosnek zmiażdżyć płaską stroną noża i maksymalnie rozdrobnić.
Macki pokroić na kawałki ok. 2 cm. Pomidorki opłukać i przeciąć na połówki.
Ugotowany ryż odcedzić na sicie.
Do miski wlać oliwę, sok z cytryny, wsypać przyprawy i dodać ośmiornicę. Wymieszać i odczekać 5-7 minut. Dorzucić resztę składników i delikatnie wymieszać.
Wykładać na talerze. Podawać z cząstką cytryny i pieczywem. Konsumować w towarzystwie lub solo.

Two of Israel’s most famous inventions are the commercialized cherry tomato and drip irrigation, so it makes perfect sense that another tomato/water innovation would arise here.
This time around, scientists developed tomatoes that are not only drought-tolerant, but whose yield actually increases in extreme weather conditions.
In a study recently published in the journal PNAS, researchers from The Hebrew University of Jerusalem crossbred two types of tomato species – a wild tomato from the deserts of western Peru and the cultivated tomato – with the aim of identifying which regions of the genome affect agricultural traits such as yields.
In the course of their research, which included DNA sequencing and data analysis of 1,400 plants, they identified interactions between two regions of the tomato genome that lead to increased yield. The new tomatoes are prolific despite consuming less water.
“Studies of complex traits in plants, such as yield and resistance to drought conditions, have been based on significantly smaller populations of around 200 species,” explains doctoral student Shai Torgeman, who conducted the research with Prof. Dani Zamir.
“This makes it impossible to identify all the interactions (epistasis) between the genes, as well as their influence on important agricultural traits,” Torgeman said.
“In this study, we genetically crossed two different species of tomato, and proved that by use of larger population and a genetic map that includes thousands of markers, it is possible to identify areas in the genome that have interaction between them that increases the yield.”
Now, the new varieties are being cultivated with the aim of commercializing them on the food market.
