#BeautyTutorial 🤍 ¡Blanqueamiento dental en casa! 🤍

6. Strawberries 🍓
Summary: Just because you and Coco broke up, doesn’t mean you won’t have a Valentine. You son will make sure of that.
Pairing: Coco Cruz x female ex reader
Warnings: angst if you squint but also comfort, co parenting, breakup
Word count: 937
A/n: Dont know what it is about this trope but it just gets my feet kicking every time 😭 Took inspo from that fic I wrote a while ago about Coco and the readers son telling coco that mommy has a new ‘friend’ but made this one less toxic lol
Tumblr media
Coco smiled as he watched his son messily spray the cool whip on top of his pancake, turning to face his dad with a proud smile.
“Look! Can you see it?”
Coco glanced down at the pancake, the cool whip placed in squiggles across the top.
“I can.”
“What is it??”
His son grinned wide, waiting for his dad to compliment his art, but Coco awkwardly rubbed the back of his neck, not knowing what the hell it was supposed to be.
“It’s a…smile face?”
The boy’s smile faded some as he looked down at his pancake before looking back at Coco with confusion.
“No, it’s a sailboat.”
Coco nodded enthusiastically, his smile bright.
“Ah. I see it now. It’s beautiful, Mijo.”
The child’s grin returned again, too young to dwell on the face that Coco didn’t see a sailboat anywhere on that pancake. His focus was on something else now as he bounced on his feet, eyes pleading up at his father.
“Can I have strawberries too?”
Coco winced, knowing he didn’t have any in the fridge. He barely ever bought produce if he was being honest. He was getting into the habit of buying more veggies now that you had been leaving your son over for the weekends more recently. He had a bag of frozen mixed vegetables and a half empty carton of blueberries that would be shriveling up any day now, but no strawberries.
“Sorry, kid. I don’t have any. I have blueberries though.”
He shrugged, smile still on his face.
“That’s ok. Blueberries are good too.”
Coco released the breath he hadn’t realized he was holding and went into the fridge to grab the berries.
“We can go shopping and get some once we finish eating. That sound ok?”
His son smiled and agreed, throwing in his own request.
“Yeah, and then we can get mommy a little teddy for Valentine’s Day! It’s tomorrow I think.”
Coco laughed and nodded, digging into his own pancake as he looked at his boy.
“It is, you’re right. You want to get mommy a teddy? What color?”
The carbon copy of Coco tilted his head back and forth as he chewed and thought.
“A white one. With a pink heart that says I love you.”
Coco smiled, knowing that your son loved you more than he loved anything else on the planet.
“I think that sounds great.”
“Me too. She doesn’t have a Valentine this year so I think that would make her happy.”
The light and fun energy dipped as a pang hit Coco’s chest. He didn’t let his son notice though, forcing his smile to stay right where it was. It was true. You hadn’t been with anyone since the split. Your focus had been on your son and work, no time for dating, at least that was what you had said. Valentine’s Day had always been one of your favorites and while it hadn’t really been Coco’s thing, he had indulged you every single one of the 6 years the two of you had been together. Your split had happened around 10 months ago now and while things were cordial and friendly, your interactions not regarding your son had been kept to a minimum. This would be the first time in years that you wouldn’t have a valentine and Coco was sure you wouldn’t be celebrating it seeing as you would be alone, this week Coco’s week. He decided then that he wouldn’t allow it and patted his hand gently on the counter.
“Hurry and finish up, then we’ll go to the store and buy a bunch of stuff for mommy, ok? We’ll surprise her tomorrow.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Your brows furrowed as you heard the knock on your door. It was around noon, and you weren’t expecting anyone. You picked up your phone and touched the screen, no missed calls or texts. A soft knock sounded again, and you stood, wearily going to the door and pulling it open. Your apprehension evaporated as you saw the boys there hand in hand, a bouquet of red roses in Coco’s empty hand, a fluffy white teddy bear in your son’s. Your smile was ear to ear as you bent down, your son letting go of Coco’s hand to hug you tightly.
“Happy Valentine’s Day, Mommy!”
You laughed tearfully and hugged him to your chest tight.
“Happy Valentine’s Day, baby boy.”
You stood back up and took the bear as he held it up to you excitedly.
“Here! This is from me!”
You clutched the bear to your chest and pet it’s soft fur.
“I love it very much. Thank you.”
Eyes locking with Coco’s, he cleared his throat and held out the roses to you.
“And these are from me.”
You could feel yourself swoon, heart aching in your chest, Coco’s doing the same. You took the roses from his hand and held them to your nose, taking a deep breath.
“Thank you. They’re beautiful.”
For a moment, it was as if it was only the two of you there, eyes locked, longing and sorrowful. The breakup had been mutual, for the sake of safety, but that didn’t mean it was any easier to live with. Pushing the door open, you invited them both in, Coco carrying a grocery bag as well that your son quickly grabbed and shoved towards you excitedly.
“We also got strawberries! Daddy said we could make pancakes again but with strawberries this time.”
You grinned and happily took the carton of strawberries, not bothering to mention that you already had one in the fridge. These were a thousand times better already.”
what're your thought on the resource use of generative ai? water and electricity consumption, scope 1 and 2 carbon emissions etc. do you think its going to be more of a problem as use increases?
From personal use standpoint, a big part of why I'm enthusiastic about rendering animation with SD is the fact that it renders significantly faster than Blender using the Cycles renderer. So technically im saving on energy by doing it this way instead of trying to realistically compute all the bounce lights and the undoubtedly complex shader that would be needed to achieve what i want.
Now training a base model or even a checkpoint is a whole different beast entirely, but it's one time training to get a model that can then generate stuff quickly on consumer grade machines. I'd say it's not a horrible investment to create a tool millions can use in a world where we spend tremendous amounts of power to render kids entertainment. Seriously,read up on the amount of machine time Pixar uses for their movies. It's something around 55 hours per frame for Coco for those not feeling like reading the whole thing.
Could you do "🌙" for Azusa? I love your blog very much!💖💖
🌙 Nights/staying up late with Azusa—
Hi there, Anon!
Thank you so much for requesting! I'm very sorry about the wait! I hope you enjoy reading it. Feel free to request again anytime! :)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
🌙 Staying up late with Azusa is special, mostly because he’s sweet and good cuddler.
🌙 Most of the time, he honestly doesn’t know what to do, so he leaves it up to you when it comes to activities.
🌙 He’s open to anything really. It just doesn’t matter to him.
🌙 Likes cuddling on the couch you talking about whatever.
🌙 If you both want to watch a movie, he lets you pick it out and doesn’t care what genre it is.
🌙 Will put a blanket over you while you watch the movie and lay his head in your neck, scarcely placing kisses here and there on your neck and shoulders.
🌙 Likes to interlock his legs with yours and hold you close against him.
🌙 Will tell you he’s cold so he has the excuse to cuddle closer and more intimately.
🌙 If it’s a horror movie, Azusa likes to hold you close and hugs you tighter when you have a jump scare.
🌙 And unlike his brothers, he’s NOT going to be an ass and tease you about it, instead he reassures you and reminds you that it’s just a movie.
🌙 And if you’re really shaken up, he’ll place a small kiss on your forehead to calm you down.
🌙 This man, I-
🌙 Also likes to play with your hair while you watch the movie.
🌙 One time, you were so soaked in by the movie that when it was over, you were shocked to have found your braided in a French braid style.
🌙 “Oh my gosh, Azusa! It’s so pretty!” You’d say, holding it in your hands as you looked at it. “I didn’t know you could braid.”
🌙 He smiled, adding on, “I . . . didn’t know . . . either . . . . I was . . . . just experimenting.”
🌙 You’d be shocked finding out a hidden talent of Azusa that not even he was aware of.
🌙 Likes making you hot cocoa when staying up late.
🌙 And if you make it with him, he’s all for it since he finds cooking with you to be romantic.
🌙 But rest assured, he will tell his brothers, more specifically Kou, to leave if they’re bothering your quality time together.
🌙 One time when you two were making hot cocoa, Kou waltzed in uninvited, and of course, had to intervene.
🌙 And to make matters worse, he just grabbed your mug of cocoa that was ready and was about to take off with it.
🌙 Azusa couldn’t stand for this, and instantly spoke about it. “Kou . . . that coco was for, Y/N.”
🌙 “Aw, my bad.” Kou replied in a mocking tone.
🌙 “Give it . . . back.” Azusa asked, his calm tone the same as usual.
🌙 This man’s patience, I swear-
🌙 Kou would sigh, finding this argument with Azusa to not be amusing as his arguments casually were with Yuma.
🌙 “Fine.” He’d say, putting the cup back and soon departing the kitchen.
🌙 Azusa smiled, grabbing the cup and putting it on the tray to take into the living room.
🌙 “Let’s go . . . Eve.” He’d say, guiding you to the living room to enjoy it together.
🌙 Likes to read books Ruki has recommended to him with you.
🌙 He likes taking turns while you read. For example, you’ll read one page and then he’ll read the next one and you two just alternate from there.
🌙 He loves it if while you read you fall asleep on his shoulder. He’d smile inside and out and lay a small kiss on your forehead before pulling you close and dosing off as well.
🌙 “Sweet dreams . . . Eve.”
🌙 Likes taking walks with you in Yuma’s garden and laying on a blanket under the stars, exchanging kisses and subtle intimate touch where no one sees.
then his sister ; sidony adaia tabris . shes born 6 years after kieran , so sometime during da2 [i think act 3 ? ? ? maybe ?] . shes like a carbon copy of zevran its like den's genes didnt even participate . shes a rogue , she has a wide variety of knowledge abt lizards and amphibians , and shes 15 years old during the veilguard . shes the last of their kids bcus denaris was REALLY unwell during his pregnancy [i think the blight in his system would just be harming him the entire time . makes it hard to conceive AND keep . he was soso sick] so he called it after sid . they didnt even plan for her but shes my babyyyyy
fenris and nikky adopt a tween a year after inquisition / trespasser . theyre an apostate mage on the run from their circle that collapsed , all they had were their phylactery , a grimoire they stole from their first enchanter , and a cloak to keep themselves warm . out of the two of them fenris is thee most protective abt them , even w all his turmoil abt them being a mage . theyre kind of like a mix of humorous and red hawke , but they care so so soooo much theyre really bad at not showing that they care . im naming them sylvan hawke :] honestly its fun imagining fenris being a dad same w hawke . sylv is about 18 ? during the veilguard ? or a bit older . i will figure it out
arcen and dorian have a son who is 6 years old when the veilguard takes place , his name is cylassan pavus-lavellan and he is suuuch a sweetie . his magic developed earlier than expected , which arcen chalks up to him being born a month early . hes a very energetic child with a love of griffons and dragons , as well as fantasy stories his dads , his older siblings and maevaris tell him . his dads utterly adore him and so do i hes just a BABYYYYY
but arcen and dorian ALSO have two apprentices learning magic from them ; valwen learning necromancy from dorian , and mabell learning rift magic from arcen . they have an agott and coco thing going on lolol i need to dev both of them more but i love them . valwen is definitely taking after arcen , and mabell is taking after dorian . both of them are kind of adapting their mannerisms like sponges . she/her for valwen , she/they for mabell ^_^
and then finally in the maxciene worldstate : anna theirin-cousland , born two years after awakening , and one year before maxciene's bastard . she takes the most after alistair personality wise , but looks like a copy of maxciene aside from her eyes . she does nottttt like her mom , nor does she want the throne . bcus maxciene has made it blatantly obvious she had her to keep the throne . maxciene my favorite problematic milf . umm she harbors grudges like no other , she has a lot of pent of anger [alistair is teaching her how to handle it . mostly w using a sword] , and she wishes to be someone elses daughter . ^_^
You Deserve Cheap, Fake Jewelry… Just Like Coco Chanel
All the jewelry I’ve ever purchased for myself is cheap af. And it looks fab.
Because here’s the thing: no one’s ever called me on it. No one has ever given a flying nun that I’m wearing plastic and nickel. No one’s ever judged my husband for being too cheap to deck me out in billion-year-old crystallized carbon when cut glass does just fine.
Keep reading.
McDonald's Singapore first introduced this locally inspired burger to us in 2017 and wowed me with the truly iconic dish in burger form. It came back briefly in the menu in 2019 and never appeared again until now. Of course I had to go buy the Nasi Lemak Burger Feast (S$11.50) which comes with Potato Wedges, Cocoa-Nut Pie and a small gassy drink. Upgraded the carbonated drink to a small ice green tea (+S$0.75).
For the 2023 version of the Nasi Lemak Burger, McDonald's tweaked the sambal sauce from sweet to savoury while also make changes to the chicken patty. Taking a bite, I did feel that the sauce was spicier than before, after all the sambal sauce is made from belachan, curry paste, chilli, shrimp, anchovies and other spices. The chicken patty is both crispy and juicy, boasting stronger flavours. Overall, the burger paired with fragrant sautéed onions, crisp cucumber slices and a fried egg was a sedap (Malay word for delicious) eat. While I enjoyed the soft and fluffy Potato Wedges over shoestring fries anytime, I did wish the wedges were dusted with some forms of spice mixture to elevate the flavours.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now on to the Cocoa-nut Pie dessert. Breaking the pie into halves, all I see is the creamy coconut sauce with very little pieces of nata de coco inside, a far cry from the one I ate a few weeks ago. At least the pastry shell is still warm and crispy.
National Ice Cream Soda Day
Whether it’s sitting in your backyard with family and friends, out at a restaurant, or at a specialized ice cream vendor, you won’t regret having an Ice Cream Soda.
National Ice Cream Soda Day is celebrated annually on June 20th. This day is certainly loved and celebrated by many people across the globe, where they enjoy this popular drink. Since this drink has become an increasingly popular refreshment for everyone it has sometimes been referred to as a soda float.
Therefore, you should invest some time in slurping this frothy wonderment up a stripy straw. The drink is comprised of only a couple of scoops of ice-cream in any carbonated beverage. An ice-cream soda is perfect to cool you down on a sizzling June summer day and offers a refreshing snap that leaves you yearning for more.
Ice cream soda has definitely made a huge impression across the entire world. Also famously known as an ice cream float in places like the United Kingdom, USA, Africa, Canada, and East Asia. There are many other names that have risen right across the globe including, coke float in the United Kingdom and South East Asia, A spider in New Zealand and Australia, and a Helado Flotante in Mexico. Yes, that’s right you can even grab yourself a refreshing ice cream soda when holidaying in Mexico. And what a better place to enjoy this lovely beverage?
History Of National Ice Cream Soda Day
Ice Cream Soda day is a day that is dedicated to the commemoration of the famous ice cream soda, a delicious, creamy, and frothy drink. Surprisingly, this drink was a completely accidental discovery. However, because of its unique combination, many people from different parts of the world have grown to love it. Hence, this day is dedicated to remembering the creation of the amazing ice cream soda.
Whether you choose to create your own with a dollop of your favorite ice cream in your favorite carbonated drink or pop into a traditional ice cream bar, once you taste the famous ice cream soda you are sure to fall head over heels and just want more. One of the most popular choices when it comes to ice cream sodas is Coco-Cola and Vanilla ice cream, something about just works and tantalizes the taste buds.
The roots of National Ice Cream Soda Day can be traced right back to when the famous ice cream soda was discovered by a soda seller. They were created by the legendary Robert Green in 1874 during Philadelphia’s sesquicentennial jamboree. Sources state that the ingenious Mr. Green mixed vanilla ice cream in with the soda he was selling, after unfortunately being devoid of ice. Little did he know, but he created a special kind of drink that was to become ultimately and extremely popular in all parts of the world.
During this time, historians say that he was extremely proud of his invention and initiative. His customers were happy about his unintentional creation, which leads us to the here and now. We can certainly thank him for using his initiative to create the ice cream soda that we have come to love so much. It has been said that Mr. Green claims he generated the idea before the initiation of the event.
Even if Mr. Green meant it or not, it was a brilliant idea to keep the sodas cold. Some of the best creations come from on the spot creativity and what a great one this was! Even if it was as simple as the thinking ice cream is cold, ice cubes are cold, let’s try it! Understandably, his epiphany was an instantaneous hit and spread like proverbial wildfire.
Green was basking in his achievement for the remainder of existence and humorously (some would say egotistically!) had “Originator of the Ice Cream Soda” written on his gravestone. And who can blame him! This is definitely something that you’d want to be remembered for.
How Has It Changed?
Nowadays, there is a range of variations on the originally invented ice cream soda, even encompassing root beer floats, Boston coolers, and purple cows. To adequately make National Ice Cream Soda Day an event: grab some soda, a couple of scoops of ice cream and a straw. Finally, sit in the sunshine and enjoy your creation whilst thinking of how Mr. Green’s epiphany became an instant sensation!
Why Should You Be Celebrating National Ice Cream Soda Day?
There are numerous reasons why you should celebrate ice cream soda day. One of the best being that an ice cream soda is an ultimately refreshing treat that can fill you with delight and refreshment. This day gives you the chance to not only enjoy the historic drink but it also allows you to join in the celebrations to thank the creator properly for giving us this wonderful creation. It’s certainly a day for recognizing what creation and initiative can achieve.
And, How Can You Do It?
There are many ways you can join in and enjoy ice cream soda day. Whether it’s your favorite ice cream shop, sitting in your back yard with the family, in a restaurant or joining all the other ice cream soda fans on this wonderful day you’re sure to have fun, find new and exciting flavors and fall in love with a traditional and historical drink that is a favorite to many around the world. Some of the great ways you can join in with the celebrations include:
Getting creative and making your own with your favorite ice cream flavors and favorite drinks. Why not see who can come up with the nicest, most delicious, craziest ideas in your family? You could even turn it into a little competition, the winner claiming the best ice cream soda day prize. You could even go all the way and add whipped cream, sprinkles, chocolate sauce, and a cherry on top.
There are many ice cream soda recipes you could try. How about, A Boozy Biscoff Beer Float with that delicious coffee butter-flavored ice cream and an ice-cold beer? gingerbread Ice Cream Float, who said gingerbread was just for Christmas? Rum and Coke Float, you’re sure to wish that your favorite pub served this version of the ice cream soda once you try it.
The Guinness Float, perfect for the dark beer lovers, this float is made up simply of a bottle of Guinness, vanilla ice cream, and chocolate syrup. Or The Strawberry Ice Cream Soda, perfect for the strawberry shake lovers out there, this fizzy version has all the creamy goodness with the sweet strawberry flavor that you crave.
Taking a trip out and about in search of ice cream soda, come on you’re bound to find it everywhere on this day! In fact, almost in a restaurant or beverage shop should be able to create one for you with ease. You will most likely spot ice cream sodas all throughout your day, you won’t be able to resist the temptation and be spoilt for choice.
It’s certainly high in demand and a popular choice on ice cream soda day. If ice cream soda day wasn’t the perfect excuse to take the family out to enjoy a refreshing, bubbly, fun, and creative drink in the sun then what is? You could even make it a yearly occasion and see how many different flavors you can try across the years.
Celebrate on social media is another great idea, whether you take a picture of you and your friends enjoying your ice cream soda in the sun, share the wonderful creation you and the family have come up with or join in with the other ice cream soda fans, social media is a great way for you to participate in the wonderful day.
PreCure Allstars Multi World Garrison Mantles 15-2
Here is the official second part of Healin Good Pretty Cures Multi-World Garrison Mantles..... Aside from Cure Sparkle's looking similar to Cure Grace's and Cure Fontaine's Mantles.... Cure Earth I wanted to do differently, Mainly the Mantle Badge..... Once Belonging to her name-sake the Original Cure Earth, Before the Eternal Curse of the Elements completely took over, Didn't want it to be a Carbon Copy of Cure Ace's badge, I even made her Cloak unique as well, Hinting it also belong to the Original Cure Earth.
Even though Nyatorun is in his movie etire, Latte is in something I came up with, Much like Coco and Nuts being Representatives for Palmier Kingdom and Candy being a Representative for Marchenland since they are Royalty, Latte is a Representative for the Healing Garden when she joins U.F.O. Despite some Healing Animals Speaking out concern about it (Mostly some Monkey Resident of the Healing Garden named Sarurou who has the belief of Humans are no better then the Byogens).
thoughts and opinions on the D23 parks announcements under the cut. it's pretty long and rambly, and written as much to get my own thoughts in order as to share them. That said, would gladly hear others' opinions.
(edit: this was written before monday's news, and I've soured on the announcements related to the upper left corner of MK since then)
TLDR: It's more good than bad. A few good things I'm genuinely excited for, and some bad things tempering them. The bad things would have hurt a lot 10 years ago, but Disney is getting predictable in their faults, and we didn't get the worst possible outcomes, so whatever.
The Good
New nighttime parade MK -- genuinely good news, and it looks lovely
Coco DCA -- happy to see this! very cute. I like the sound of focusing on animatronics and use of music. I'm glad its not going to Epcot as was rumored, so we can still have the Three Caballeros there, and enjoy a new, unique dark ride in California. may tip the scales in favor of me wanting to go to DCA every DL trip again alongside Ariel/Monsters/Cars for the dark ride goodness. Basically no notes. Just want to know location and more details.
Lion King Flume, WDS paris -- very weird that they announced that it would be based on the original movie while the concept art very clearly shows the "live action" version. maybe a recent change? It's a good change if so. (Although still very unprofessional to show a Live Action concept art when it probably could've been edited to show the Animated characters within hours of the event.)
This is the resort's first water ride and is badly needed both on that front and as another attraction in WDS' sad lineup.
Will be excited to see more art for this, based on the original movie this time, and especially of interior scenes-- imagine a dark ride version for "I just can't wait to be king"!
A surrounding land was announced with shops/restaurants and I'm curious how they plan on pulling that off, given the humanless, naturalistic setting and relatively less-anthropomorphized characters.
Good idea for park and resort and looking forward to it!
Mostly good with complicating thoughts
Pandora DCA -- as someone who has seen neither of the Avatar movies, but enjoyed Pandora in Florida, I'm looking forward to this, but with less excitement than Coco.
I do like atmospheric boat rides and this looks more impressive than the one in Florida, which I already enjoyed. It seems to be based on the Pirates tech in Shanghai, which will be cool to have stateside. I hope some of the monsters are animatronics.
This addition basically confirms that the California theme for the park is dead, but I really gave up on that several years ago; this was just the final nail in the coffin. DCA is an Everything Park, and that's fine. Whatever. Making it a dumping ground for whatever movie franchise Disney wants to promote in its parks acts as a buffer for the more historical and foundational park, Disneyland. In addition, the California theme was also never uniformly executed well, which makes its watering down much less painful than the watering down of Epcot or Animal Kingdom's themes.
I'm hoping this is slated for the Disneyland Forward land, but I'm hearing it may take over Hollywoodland as well. I'd personally miss the Monsters Inc dark ride and be nostalgic for things like the Animation building or stupid backlot puns, but I don't think there's any reasonable argument that this wouldn't be an upgrade.
Tropical Americas DAK-- the way they described it makes it sound like it should fit in well with other areas of the park, matching Africa and Asia better than Dinoland did, and more generally that the Imagineers are putting a lot of thought into its design. I'm glad Indy is not a carbon copy of the one in California, and the Encanto dark ride sounds cute.
On a more meta level, I'm glad they are still designing and building themed lands that have more than one IP applicable to them, and even the opportunity/necessity for original elements.
I'm personally sorry to lose Dinosaur. It was my favorite attraction on my first trip to Florida as a pre-teen and I love the dinosaurs and kooky premise. That said, we've thought it was going to close for years now, so I've had time to come to terms with it.
It still sucks that they are doing replacements instead of building real expansions when they have the space for it and DAK needs all the capacity it can get. I also hope someday the animal-themed park may feature non-avian dinosaurs again. Overall though, I was happily surprised with how they seem to be handling this.
One remaining question: where are the animal exhibits...?? Isn't this park primarily supposed to be about seeing animals?
Monsters Inc roller coaster DHS -- This has been a rumor on the internet ever since I was a child in the 00s watching Screamscape.net and Disney park fan forums like a hawk. It's a no-brainer and it'll be a fun addition to DHS.
Hoping they're killing the Animation Courtyard for this and not Muppets. Muppet*Vision 3-D isn't an E ticket by any means but it was one of the last major Muppet projects that Jim Henson himself worked on, and has already been evicted from DCA. It's a cute show and one of the better 4D shows at the parks. Its loss would be felt.
VillainsLand MK - YES. This has also been rumored since forever. Again, at least since the early-mid 00s when I first got online. We got basically no details on this, but the art looks cool, and the concept alone is an immediate sell! Very excited for this!
Two reasons why this is in this tier instead of the "good" tier:
1. We don't have any details. Like, for a detail-dry panel, somehow we got even less info for this than for everything else. trying to reserve judgement until we know more.
2. If this is going behind Big Thunder, that means the Cars attractions might be going in a much worse location within Frontierland, which will hurt MK's thematic integrity and atmosphere pretty hard. Admittedly, this is mostly Cars' problem, but it did temper my excitement for this pretty badly during the announcement itself. If we're lucky, both projects are beyond the railroad tracks, even if they shorten the River à la California.
i dont care
all the marvel stuff. Like Pandora, I'm not very familiar with the source material. unlike Pandora, I haven't been impressed with Disney's offerings so far (with the caveat that I haven't gone on Rewind yet, which does sound better than the DCA attractions).
If they blow my socks off, cool! Awesome! If not, whatever. I'm glad others are having fun, and unlike in the past, this time they aren't replacing anything I care about.
Non-parade nightime shows. I'm sure they'll be fine. I don't love Disney Animation sing-along format shows (especially outside of Fantasmic, where a lot of the interest comes in the form of props, actors, the use of the big river ships, and the dragon). However, I realize this is very much a me thing, and their mere existence doesn't bother me.
cruises and fortnite. I'm not the audience for these things and I don't even understand why fortnite costume announcements were part of this panel.
...huh?
Great Moments with Mr. Disney or whatever DL -- It's mere existence vexes me, but more out of an intolerance for corporate worship of the man than anything to do with my theme park opinions.
I wonder if they'll also update the Lincoln figure to match him in tech? That would be neat, at least. Keeping Abe updated to the latest Animatronics tech is a long-kept tradition, and the last update was back in 2009.
If nothing else, we'll probably get some banger memes out of it.
bad
Cars in Frontierland MK -- ?????????????? why are we doing this. are we really sacrificing the thematic integrity of the land, and for the sake of the Cars franchise, of all things?
I only hope that this is in the area behind Big Thunder. If it's back there, it may feel like a modern sub-land separate from the more traditional "Western" sections, with a transitional area in-between. It would even follow the already-established pattern of moving forward in time as you walk from Liberty Square through Frontierland. The Cars ride itself could even be cute and better than DCA's if handled well.
However, it doesn't seem like we are so lucky.
The announcement of Villainsland and the rumors of Tom Sawyer Island closure make it seem more likely to be taking over the Rivers of America, at least the back half of it.
Edit, with the new Monday announcement:
It's not only taking over part of the river, it's taking over the front half, with the back half probably being used by Villains. This is the stupidest, most short-sighted decision I think I've seen Disney take in a long time.
MK's river is very nice, especially at night, and the TSI is absolutely delightful, if simple, and a good place to beat the crowds and concrete found in the rest of the park. Neither are E-ticket extravaganzas, but they aren't meant to be, offering a different kind of low-key attraction, and adding a lot of atmosphere to MK.
That atmosphere also includes placemaking for the three E-tickets in the area: Haunted Mansion, Tiana, and Big Thunder. All three will be negatively impacted by this change.
These things might not sound like much, but they add up and make the Disney parks what they are, and why they are loved.
It'd be a huge shame to lose such an asset to the park, especially one that still a nearly untouched example of classic WED imagineering, between the sightlines, the river gags, the island caves, the riverboat, and everything else.
(And this not even reiterating the fact that Cars does not "fit" comfortably inside the bounds of the historically based lands around the river, which I already mentioned in my initial paragraphs.)
This decision is not easily reversible and wrecks the entire balance and design of the entire northwest corner of the park, all for the sake of selling cars merch. It's times like this where I wonder why I even bother being a fan of these places. Or, for that matter, of themed design in general.
Why can't this be its own separate land from Frontierland, as with Cars Land in DCA? Why not in DHS, which badly needs more capacity and already houses other difficult-to-fit-elsewhere Pixar movies like Toy Story, Monsters Inc, and even Cars already?
/edit
I don't know. I hope the rides are fun, at least.
what we didn't see
Literally anything not based on a pre-established property would have been nice to see. Can we literally do nothing original anymore in these parks? Are the parks always going to be tied to movies from now on, like at Uni?
Where's this generation's Pirates of the Caribbean, Big Thunder Mountain, Spaceship Earth, Sindbad, Country Bears, Soarin' Over California, Expedition Everest, Test Track, Etc Etc Etc? Let Imagineers create their own stories and experiences for us to fall in love with! Have some trust in the medium!
I'm of course not totally against rides being based on movies or TV. Indiana Jones, Snow White, Tower of Terror, and Rise of the Resistance are some of my favorite attractions, period. But it's disappointing as someone who got interested in Disney in general through the parks, and not the other way around, to see them do nothing but tie-ins.
It also makes it harder to defend themed design as an art-form unto itself when the industry leader in the US, and in many ways the main innovator in the medium for multiple decades, only seems to treat its parks as a merchandising and marketing arm for its film and tv properties and little else.
/fin rant
We also didn't see the announcement for a new Tomorrowland for Disneyland, which was heavily rumored. It's disappointing to see the land stagnate for another decade, but tbh, I would be happy to let the current moment pass before they completely redo this land again.
It certainly needs the help. Literally anything would be better for the Carousel Theater's plot of land or the Magic Eye Theater than what currently exists-- even if it's not my cup of tea, it'd be a use for dead space in a park short on expansion land. Autopia needs electric vehicles at a minimum (although I'd love to see some new, cool theming or landscaping along the track as well), the Peoplemover tracks either need to be reused or torn down, Astro Orbiter needs to be moved to open up the entrance bottleneck, and tbh Star Tours is outmoded by the new Star Wars land.
However, I don't trust them not to pave over the Submarine Lagoon, and this is important enough to me to let the husk of Innoventions rot for another decade in exchange.
I would honestly be fine if Disneyland and Disneyland Paris (the castle park from the second generation of Imagineers) were largely untouched until winds have changed in favor of a bit of respect for what already exists, original works, and coherent non-single-franchise-specific lands again. Luckily we have DCA and WDS, whose needs are still more urgent anyway.
Finally, we also didn't see the constantly rumored Imagination Pavilion update. Imo, this is fine for the same reason. Figment and Dreamfinder deserve better than an Inside Out reskin.
However, as far as Epcot goes, it would have been nice to get the Play Pavilion and Mary Poppins ride back on the docket. It's also weird we got a mention of Test Track 3.0 but no new details or art.
Conclusion
This panel could have been way worse than it was, and I'm excited for some of the new attractions.
The disappointments were more of the same-old things I've started to expect with Disney parks, with nothing original, and the continued disintegration of park-level (DCA, to a lesser extent DAK) and land-level (Frontierland) themes.
However, the things announced look to be quality in isolation if nothing else, and they're unique to their respective parks, which is a good change from copying everything verbatim from one coast to another. I'm genuinely excited for the Coco boat ride, Lion King Flume, Villains land, and new nighttime parade, and cautiously optimistic for much of the rest.
The downsides felt like nothing near the disappointments of the past, where they announced rides I didn't care about to replace classics that didn't deserve to die, and made the offputting decision to put Star Wars Land in Disneyland instead of saving it for a 3rd park or keeping it unique to Florida.
(Although, frankly, Cars for Frontierland might be worse than SWGE in DL, and the difference is simply that I'm used to disappointment now. Edit: with Monday's announcement, I'm sure of this. SWGE is a lop-sided, unbalanced, out-of-scale addition to Disneyland, but at least it leaves the original park largely intact, and feels like a Separate Thing beyond the bounds of the berm/railroad)
Overall, not a bad showing.
Do you read Mermaid Melody Aqua? If you do, wwwhat are your thoughts?
I read the first couple of chapters but kind of fell off after it failed to grab me. It's a pretty slow burn; I think Lukia doesn't even transform into her idol form until like 10 chapters in? I only know that because I follow other magical girl blogs.
And of course, like literally everyone else I'm disappointed that Lukia is a carbon copy of her mother Lucia. Like yeah, I love Lucia's design, but I wanted the star of the new manga to have a unique look. It doesn't help matters that Lukia's idol outfit, while not identical to Lucia's, is rather plain.
That being said, now that the series has picked up more, I should give it another go. I remember seeing from the scans that Seira and Karen (two of my favorite characters from the original series) show up so I'd love to see them again. I hope that means Coco and Noel will show up too, if they haven't already.
otonapre thoughts
i dont think i can actually have a fully realized opinion on this show until they show us coco and i can see what they have planned with him. because he was 75% of the reason why i hated the original show. and im so scared theyre gonna just make it Worse
as for what we got in the first episode. i enjoyed it! but also had very mixed feelings over all!!
i really liked nozomi in this. i think having her typical optimism and silliness and exuberance put in an adult context and slightly tempered by her maturity worked super well and really made her compelling and fleshed out to me here
i also found the stuff with her and divorce girl very very touching
the Global Warming Environmental theme is. unexpected?? i guess it is a pretty clever and unexpectedly Real way to expand upon the theme of hopelessness for the future. but also i feel like theres gonna be a bunch of Reducing Your Carbon Footprint is Your Personal Responsibility stuff.
i'll be honest if i may be a bit personal ive been struggling a bunch with depression and dread for the future so i think i am kinda in the prime State for this seasons overarching theme to hit Lol. i like the concept and have hopes for it
rin is unfortunately mid. which is par for the course lol. she still plays off nozomi well but i still have trouble caring that much about her personally, i did appreciate them let her be a jock, i honestly didnt expect them to lol
we dont get to see enough of the other cures for me to have much opinion of them yet. but we did see just enough milk to think she's awesome
kenta and yuuko's inclusion was. somewhat fun to me somewhat like, sad? mainly in ways i dont think the writers really thought that much about, kenta being the one character to not have his Dream Job in the original series + yuuko being kinda a Nagging Wife Character now. i like that he keeps his original va too though lol
KIRYUU CATGIRL STREAMERS is peak. justifies this series being precure canon on its own
theyre totally going to have them become teens when they transform and its gonna be so lame
Daisy hung a mistletoe over her head, hoping that Yang, Nora, and Coco would be willing to give her big belchy kisses on her lips, either the ones on her face or the ones between her legs. Hopefully, she’s been nice enough this year to earn some early holiday “presents”.
Tumblr media
"You better know we take mistletoe seriously here at Beacon! Pucker up princess mama wants a smooch!" Nora grinned pulling the princess into a big kiss followed by a rumbling belch from the huntress' gut as Yang and Coco watched.
Tumblr media
Coco couldn't help but laugh as she cracked open a can of soda and chugged the entire thing before sloshing her belly around to agitate the carbonation bubbling up inside her. "Me next! Actually why don't I slip bellow the princess' dress and let you and Yang handle the rest?" She smirked Yang giving a nod in agreement before joining in swapping off with Nora once she had deposited her gas through Daisy's lips.
Tumblr media
"Hey don't hog her! I wanna be next!" The belching blonde brawler said belly bumping Nora eager to have her chance at the royal.
