That may be true, but then Danny heard about Billy, AKA Captain Marvel.
After finding out about him, Danny just won't stop asking his mentors to let him help because "Clocky, please! He's just like me! Only, the adults don't know his secret yet!" And at that point it was only a matter of time til the Ancients start getting a soft spot for Billy too. So, they try to adopt him.
Billy, the mischievous child he is unlike his Marvel persona, decided to use this against the Ancients. He'll let himself be adopted if they help his home dimension (which Clockwork knew was bull cuz Billy the orphan just wanting family would love to be babied by these cool gods either way), which makes them wary.
All of a sudden, Danny pricks himself on a needle and draws his own blood in a glass tube. Everyone can see how much courage it took for Danny to even look at the needle so now all the JLD that came along held him with respect, especially Billy who can't wait for this cool hybrid to be his new big brother!
After the Ancients let Danny and Billy help the DC dimension (with Billy still hiding his true age), Billy informs the other members of the JL that he has to be on leave for a couple of days. Why? He wants to help set up his room in the infinite realms and to connect it to the Rock of eternity easier, instead of just relying on wild guesses.
The JLD's only explanation to the JL is that the Ancients pulled a Batman on their resident champion of magic.
Ghost Blood
Bad things happen to good people
------------------------------------
The Justice League and the Justice League Dark had met to discuss something extremely important and confidential: the end of the world.
While this was something they faced on a weekly basis, this time it was different. It had started when the chaos lords found an ancient ritual to gain power, and multiple villains joined them to complete the requirements. Klarion, who had noticed that the spell was going to end the world sooner or later, informed the heroes.
The problem was that the spell was already underway, and it was a process that could not be stopped. They had a couple of hours left before all the known horrors in the universe would take an interest in Earth.
The Justice League Dark was overworked, all of them looked extremely exhausted. Even Deadman offered to help but there was little he could do. As they discussed how to proceed, Constantine grabbed an old spell book he was leafing through and angrily threw it to the ground, catching everyone's attention.
"Bloody hell" the Brit glared at the ground angrily "so fucking close".
His companions asked him what was going on, to which Constantine informed them that there was a solution to their current problem. Some sort of powerful cancelation spell that would solve their problems. He saw their hopeful faces and sighed, he supposed he should break their hopes sooner than later.
"We can't use it" the Hellbazer said wearily.
"Why not?" Wonder Woman looked at him frustrated "if it's the only option, surely we can-"
"We can't use it because one of the ingredients doesn't exist!" Constantine blurted out, furious. He had analyzed all the options and that was the only one that might work, but the essential ingredient was missing.
"The spell requires ghost blood" John commented after calming down, desperation could be heard in his voice "but ghosts don't have blood, their blood is ectoplasm, it's impossible!"
Deadman had suddenly gone silent.
"There would have to be a hybrid or something but clearly they don't exist, it's too unlikely."
The League, which had previously perked up at the possible solution, sank back in disappointment. Zatanna, however, noticed the ghost's reaction and watched him curiously.
"...What if it's possible?" Deadman's voice was heard in the silence. Constantine had made him visible to the others during the investigation but the ghost was not used to the attention.
"It's not, it's not possible to combine life and death, the balance would have been broken one way or another" Constantine denied.
"John, what if it's possible?" Deadman repeated "what if a hybrid exists?"
What if the hybrid is the balance?
"Are you saying what I think you're saying?" Constantine observed his friend. Ghost blood was a myth, mentioned in many books but never used.
"Don't get too excited" the ghost warned "there is a hybrid with that kind of blood but he's not-, he doesn't trust humans anymore, for a very good reason."
"However, he does exist" Wonder Woman said in disbelief "can you tell us more?"
Deadman looked around at the nearly destroyed dimension and begged the Ancients for forgiveness for what he was about to do.
"He was born by the Realms and for the Realms, he's a good boy" Deadman sighed, revealing the secret he was never supposed to mention "but as you well know, bad things happen to good people."
The ghost thought of the communique that had reached all the ghosts. On how the Ancients had taken in a child, how they had demanded that he needed to be left alone.
"It's not my place to say what happened" and he didn't have many details either, though gossip traveled fast "but he doesn't trust anyone beyond his guardians, he hates adults and he's scared of needles and other medical instruments, I don't think he'll be much help."
"We have to try, there's not much time left" Batman frowned. Something inside him stirred at the mention of an injured child "Can you tell us where he is?"
"The Infinite Realms" Constantine replied instantly, lighting a cigarette, his hands were shaking "But who are his guardians?"
"The Ancients" Deadman replied "and if you want their help, you really must come up with a plan."
It was obvious that only the Justice League Dark had understood the implications of all this, they were pale and looked scared. Even Dr. Fate and Marvel looked like the end of the world had been confirmed.
"I can take you there" the ghost said, nostalgic at the thought of visiting the dimension "time doesn't work the same there, so you won't spend much time even if it takes weeks to get close, but you can't all go, you'll scare him off"
"We'll go" Captain Marvel spoke up, overcoming his fear "if it's the only option, we'll go."
Little did they know that from the Infinite Realms the Master of Time was watching them with a raised eyebrow. The Ancient shook his head, knowing he should prepare for visitors before heading to the couch next to his screens. Danny was reclining there, sipping hot chocolate and bundled up in one of his cloaks.
The halfa greeted him looking relaxed but Clockwork wouldn't be fooled by that (he could still see the boy, his boy, with his chest wounded, crying for help), he reached over to stroke his protégé's hair affectionately, thinking of ways to get rid of his visitors. While Danny was likely to want to help, he couldn't care less about what happened to that dimension.

This Meeting Could've Been an E-mail
Sleepy King (Nanenna ver.) Masterpost
---
Diana, along with several other members of the JLD, were sitting in a meeting room. John had stood at the head of the table, having just finished outlining the situation for them, and it was grim. She knew if worse came to worse they may have to sacrifice the boy to keep the Ghost King from emerging into their world and wreaking havoc on a scale only Darkseid had managed before, but she prayed it wouldn’t come to that.
“Would not the boy also smell my father’s blood?” Raven asked.
“Unfortunately. You an’ me are gonna stay back and help plan based on what everyone else reads from the boy.”
Diana nodded along, likely that was also her role.
Bruce, in full Batman gear, came stalking into the room.
“About bloody time,” John said with a huff.
“I would hope you have brought them all up to speed on what you know of Danny while waiting.”
John made an annoyed sound, then moved to sit in a chair near the head of the table. “`Course I did, just waiting on you now.”
Bruce stood in the spot John had just vacated. “Oracle.” The room dimmed and the holo-projector  in the table whirred to life. A picture of a small family standing in front of what appeared to be some sort of business run out of what used to be a family home (something fairly common in America, Diana had learned) took center stage. Obviously it was part of a website, Diana could see the web bar with several tabs across the top of the projection, but it was zoomed into the photo.
“This,” Bruce said, pointing to the teenaged boy in the photo from behind, “is Daniel “Danny” Fenton, the boy used in the ritual last night.”
Everyone leaned in closer to look the boy over. There was nothing remarkable about him, a bit thin perhaps but that could be due to the lankiness that comes with growth spurts.
“He’s from Amity Park, Illinois. The town advertises itself as the most haunted city in America, and from what we’ve gathered they earned it. Most pertinent is that last year they were under attack by the Ghost King.”
Oracle must have clicked to the next tab, the family picture was replaced by an online newspaper article titled “Ghost King Thwarted! Is Phantom a Hero?”
“I’m sorry, what happened?” Zatanna asked incredulously.
“There must be some mistake, there’s no way Pariah Dark got free without a single person feeling it,” Dr. Fate insisted.
Oracle scrolled down the page to show several blurry photos taken of a being that looked nothing like what they’d seen last night, alongside a sketch of the being. “Either this was well researched, or somehow this whole event was cloaked,” Bruce said grimly.
“Considering this wasn’t even the most recent attack on the town and a few of them sound like JL level threats,” Oracle’s modulated voice came from the table’s speakers as she quickly tabbed through a few more news articles before coming back to the one on the Ghost King, “I think it’s more likely something is blocking the whole town from us.” She scrolled down more to show several missing or broken photos. “Especially this Phantom person that keeps showing up in every article about ghosts. Even using the way back machine there’s not a single photo of him anywhere on the internet.”
“If the Ghost King has been out,” Captain Marvel asked, “where did he go? I doubt he’s spent the last year just hanging out in a small town in middle America.”
“According to this news article,” Bruce said, “Phantom, along with help from the whole town, managed to get the Ghost King back into the Sarcophagus and sealed him away again.”
John whistled, “That’s quite the feat, even with help.”
“Are you saying Danny was chosen as Pariah’s anchor because he’s from Amity Park?” Raven asked.
“Not just because he’s from Amity Park, his parents are also self proclaimed paranormal scientists and ghost hunters.”
Oracle tabbed to a few different pages, each one with a different picture of one of Danny’s parents proudly holding ominously glowing green weapons or with vials of glowing green goo. Sometimes one in the background of another.
John squinted at the photos, “Is that pure æther?!”
“How?!” Captain Marvel and Zatanna both asked incredulously.
“They call it ectoplasm,” Bruce stated.
John scoffed and rolled his eyes. “Ectoplasm is a word scam artists in the 1800s made up to steal money from grieving widows.”
“Nevertheless that is what they're calling it. Especially of note that the Fentons run their research out of their home.”
“Where their children live?” Diana asked, horrified at the implications.
“How are they still sane?” Captain Marvel asked incredulously.
“We're not sure they are,” Batman said grimly. Oracle tabbed to a street view of the Fenton home, easily identified by the large sign on the side. The strange addition to the home's roof was an… interesting choice.
The other attendees of the meeting were becoming agitated, several of them shifting in place as they got ready to speak.
“Before this goes any further,” Bruce stated firmly, “all this to say the cult that kidnapped Danny Fenton did so with intention. Amity Park certainly needs a full investigation, but it will have to wait until after this crisis with the Ghost King is dealt with.”
“Æther exposure might explain why the kid could handle being Pariah’s anchor.” John sighed then stood up. “Alright, if that’s all the info you got…”
Bruce grunted in acknowledgement.
“The clock’s ticking.” John left the room, the others all following after.
Diana hung back to speak with Bruce. “We’ll find a solution.”
Bruce just hummed to show he heard her. She knew he wasn’t handling the situation well, a child’s life was at stake and he had to hand the situation over to others. There was only so much she could reassure him, so she chose instead to go see the boy for herself.
The JLD members that had attended the meeting were all gathered in a kitchenette discussing logistics. Diana left them to it for the moment and simply went down the hall to the room she knew the boy was sleeping in. The lights in the hallway were already dimmed, thankfully, so she simply quietly opened the door and poked her head inside. Clark was sitting on a chair next to the boy’s bed. His posture was a relaxed sprawl, but his face was furrowed in concentration. He looked up and smiled when he saw Diana.
“How are you?” She asked at barely a whisper, knowing he’d hear her just fine.
“Guilty, now that I know he mistook me for his father.”
“Sadly this is an ask for forgiveness situation.” She gently pat Clark’s arm, trying to console him.
The boy himself looked like any other teenager, dead to the world while tucked safely into bed. She only hoped they would find some solution and tomorrow he would be tucked just as safely into his own bed.

Note
I was having a normal day until I realized something and need to ask it. Are the people of Fawcett City going to realize cap is missing before the jl find Billy (or maybe Billy will escape before he's found?)???????
Because now I'm worried about the potential stress and chaos the city could go through if they find out the cap is missing. The news going crazy. The villains having a field day. Your writing is a godsend but I am going through it right now. I am simultaneously both ready and not ready for the next update!!!!!
Thanks for the ask! I love getting asks about theories and questions about my stories!
So I don't want to give too much away, but I do have a subplot in mind for how the citizens of Fawcett City are going to react to Captain Marvel's disappearance, even if for them it is more rumor than fact. It was mentioned briefly in Cyborg's chapter (ch 9) that some people are already taking notice of the sheer lack of Cap sightings around town, though it hasn't yet reached a point where things start getting messy.
The JL want to keep his disappearance a secret from the public for exactly the reasons you mentioned, but the more time passes the harder that is to do. A few days/a week without the Captain can be explained away with him being needed for a mission (particularly one that is off world or magical) but that can only last so long.
They won't be dealing with the consequences of that right away, but it is something I wanted to explore later in the story.
I'm sorry to hear that you're going through it, but I hope you enjoy the next update. 💜

Reblogging here as too out of it to tag atm
Danny knew he was doing great—hell, he gets to present his last project for mechanical engineering before he can refocus on making robots programmed to help during crises for medical, evacuation and environmental clean up while being tailored to local needs.
Problem: the team he’s supervising is going on a mission mid-presentation that he cannot reschedule… and none of the others in the JL have offered to cover for him.
Why they keep trying to make Captain Marvel handle it is beyond him—he’s a member of the young justice team because he’s a kid. He’s thirteen now, sure, but he’s still a kid.
And while he loves his truama-bonded gremlins—Bart holding a special place in his heart—he is putting his foot down on sending his feral mentees out without some adult back-up.
“Hey, Canary? Can i talk to you for a minute?”
He noticed since Red Arrow’s relapse a year ago, she’d been the most responsive to his concerns regarding his kids.
“Sure thing, just let me wrap up this report.”
Danny waited. Once she was done, they moved to one of the private conference rooms.
“So, i know my team is scheduled for that raid on the Light next week, and i know its on the schedule that I can’t attend,” he began.
Canary nodded along.
“Is there a reason why another mentor wasn’t assigned?”
She paused at that.
“Another mentor—Captain Marvel is going to be there, so you don’t need to worry Phantom.”
“I kind of do, since he’s got a lot on the civilian side coming up with him finally starting high school a week after the raid.”
Canary froze.
“He what.”
Danny paused. “He’s starting high school—he’s one of the youngest on the team developmentally speaking, even if he got a weird aging side affect to his powers too.”
Canary nodded slowly. “I’ll speak with Batman to get that covered and uh, out of curiosity, what’s your presentation on?”
“Oh! I finished proving the viability of ectoplasm from the Realms being a reusable energy source, and a way to enable a degree of autonomous sentience to technology that can be given different pre-dispositions. its costs benefit analysis to use including maintenance factors, since I passed the biochem minor last semester.”
“College then,” Canary guessed, eyeing him suspiciously.
“Graduate school with a major in mechanical engineering and minors in bio-chem and environmental studies—took years to get back into school after dropping out as a junior during way too many timestream adventures. Why?”
Canary paled. “No Reason. Excuse me.”
She left.
Danny frowned.
“Ollie, get Bruce’s ass over here for a meeting. Now.”
“Did something happen with Phantom?”
“Ollie. He’s in grad school, and had ‘timeline adventures. And Marvel’s just starting high school apparently.”
Oliver dropped his phone. “He, he what?”
“Exactly. So, get your bestie’s ass over here as we were all thrown for a loop or he let things go along this far for over a year.”
—-
Billy was a little thrown when the JL called him in. He’s pretty sure he and Danny have done a great job publicly keeping up the ageless champion image as Captain Marvel.
The team was oddly silent as he walked in, except for plastic man doing his usual Bit.
One day he hopes he can be as good an actor as Plas—he’s still not sure why so many don’t remember hiw little he needs to regenerate from or how capable he really is.
“Cap, take a seat,” Flash offered, pulling put his chair before settling back into his own, room still too quiet.
Serious conversation… great.
“Thanks,” he smiled. “Now, what’s the emergency meeting for?”
“You’re not in high school yet,” Green Arrow began. “And Phantom is a graduate student?”
Billy didnt see the issue. “Starting a week after the mission, and Phantom’s graduating a week or so after—year thrown by rouge attacks at his school,” He explained.
Batman hrm’d at that. “It was shut down for a few months.”
Billy nodded.
“You, you are a kid,” one of the lanterns began slowly.
“Well yeah, isnt that why you put me on the team with Phantom? He’s been mentoring me since we met and clocked everything. Why else would we be on Young Justice together?”
The room exploded into a cacophony of sound.
I need a Misunderstanding trope where Phantom is put with one of the ‘kid’ groups because everyone assumes he’s a teen, but Phantom (he’s, like, 28) thinks he’s just like… co-managing/supervising the group with another Justice League member.
Asked if he’s in school thinking high school? He says yes, thinking of college where he’s going for his graduate degree. His grumbles over homework and time management skills cements it.
ICE contact? Frostbite. Yeah, that’s really his name. (Jazz talked him out of putting her because if it’s an emergency then they likely need medical history and support.) Here’s a device to actually reach him. His parents? Uhhh, nah, I would put my sister second.
It just goes on.
The guy snarks, puns, and throws jokes, clearly up-to-date with internet culture. He’s a casual dude, loves video games, burgers, and space. He’s kinda short and a little lanky, but he’s stupid strong (like he both forgets he is strong and doesn’t know his strength at times).
Phantom’s checking all the boxes as a teen hero both visually and on vibes with the League so they put him there. Danny’s touched that they think he’s responsible enough to put him in charge of the kids, so he does his best.
(Batman finds out about the appointment after it’s approved, but before he says anything he sees how much the teens open up around Phantom and… well… if they didn’t do their homework to see that the Phantom persona has been active for 14 years with pop-ups through history then that’s not really his problem, is it? He might miss that Phantom doesn’t realise this for a while…whoops.)

DC Elseworld Ideas
Kal El becomes stranded in space before reaching Earth, and is found and raised by passing spacefarers
Dick and Bruce swap ages and roles but everything else about their backstories remain the same. So Dick's parents die and he becomes Batman, and then later on Crime Alley happens and Dick takes Bruce under his wing and he becomes Robin
JL members swapping aesthetics but not names (Superman-Batman, Wonderwoman-Martian Manhunter and Flash-Green Lantern) Every founding member of The Justice League (except for Superman) swaps origins but not names or aesthetics, so Batman is magic-based warrior from a mythical land (probably something Vampire or Norse Mythology related), Wonder Woman is a billionaire playgirl who uses her wealth to aid her city in more ways than one, The Flash is a member of an interstellar army of peacekeepers (probably called "The Speedforce" or something) that can travel at incredible speeds and even go faster than light (though in that case they probably can't interact with anything in that state and also can't travel to somewhere else on the same planet at that speed) Green Lantern is a cop that through a lab accident gained access to a cosmic force allowing him to make any hardlight construct he can imagine, Martian Manhunter is the son of a runaway Martian princess and a lonely astronomer, and Aquaman is the last survivor of Atlantis who has sworn to not lose this world after already losing his old one
Someone from the 31st century stumbles upon the ruins of The Batcave and takes on the mantle of Batman and joins the Legion of Superheroes
The Justice League IIINNNN SPAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACE well more in space anyway. Superman is the last human, Batman is more or less the same just that he's an alien and Gotham is a crime ridden planet (think Nar Shadda from Star Wars) Wonder Woman is the heir to the throne of a race of isolationist insectoids (because queen) Flash can travel in Hyperspace (probably) and Brainiac probably fills the role of J'onn (not sure what GL would be)
a Just Imagine type series by another artist
Kal El lands in ancient Persia and becomes Cyrus The Great
The Trinity swap what kind of "terrestrial" they are (Superman is an Extraterrestrial, Wonderwoman is an Ultraterrestrial and Batman is just a Terrestrial)
Superman joins The Blue Lantern Corps
Diana leaves Themyscira Early and travels the world, aiding many mythical and historical figures
a world where the Justice League and Legion of Doom swap public images (as heroes and villains) but not morality (for the most part anyway)
A Gods and Monsters style story in a different universe (like they fill the same niche and have the same aliases, but they're not the same people)
The Regular Justice League but with all of their nationalities changed (except for maybe Superman, but for some reason I keep imagining him as Aussie)
Superman lands in pre war Poland and fights Nazis
The Justice League begin in a Fallout and/or Mad Max style post apocalyptic setting
Krypton isn't destroyed and starts expanding its empire across the stars, Kal El is given control of Earth but joins their side against the Kryptonian Empire (I just described the plot of Dune didn't I?)
in a posthuman setting (ala Orion's Arm, with sapient AI, Animal Uplifts and Human Subspecies) The Legion of Superheroes is formed by young people inspired by the ancient works of DC comics
Captain Marvel but based around Norse Gods (I like to call it SHAZAM: Ragnarok)
Wonder Woman and Superman Swap roles (probably called "Wonder Woman: Last Daughter of Krypton" and "Superman: Spirit of Hope") and Superman is probably an Olympian god or Demigod
The Guardians of the Universe end up founding The Justice League or The Legion of Superheroes instead of The Green Lantern Corps (I like to call it League or Legion: In Brightest Day)
Classic Anime Superhero Justice League, (like the 70s) I know this one has been imagined a lot (or at the very least anime versions) but I still think it could be really fun and provide a new flavor of campy ^^
The Justice League and Legion of Doom are two good and evil alien factions fighting on Earth (like Transformers) probably has notable nonpowered supporting characters like Lois, Jimmy, James Gordon, and others being in the usual supporting human role
Superman being the last Human who lands on a Zootopia-type anthro animal world
a Craig of The Creek style universe where they're all just kids playing pretend
Kara ends up landing at the time she was intended to and watches over Kal
Kara lands on earth at the time she was intended but basically ends up like Flashpoint Superman (is government property, a labrat, and is all weak and scrawny due to lack of sunlight)
A hilda-esque series about kid Clark going on space adventures and meeting aliens (I mean “Hilda-esque” in how it handles the space stuff, of course being similar to how Hilda handles the magic stuff)
Superman lands in Themyscira
Superman’s ship was the source of the Roswell incident
The main DCU meets the Hellboy universe (probably something like this where it’s more about the former being in the latter or possibly vice-versa and not just smashing them together)
Something similar to Superman and Batman: Generations but in the modern day or near future, where the OG Justice League are like the first heroes and now they’re either gone or not what they used to be for one reason or another and we see this new world from the perspective of the younger generation of metahumans and other superpowered beings
A lovecraftian Superman story (it’d be neat to see the contrast between the utter hopelessness of a lovecraftian story and Superman’s idealism)
Martian Manhunter in a classic pulp sci fi version of the Solar System (where nearly every planetoid and body is inhabited like Frank R Paul's work)
Antifa underground heroic chaotic good Justice League vs corporate military industrial complex celebrity lawful evil Legion of Doom (probably lead by President Lex Luthor who probably has an iron man suit)
Green Arrow but he makes his theme something that might actually be useful
A more fleshed out version of Earth 33 (the mage dominated universe)
An Alien Nation/District 9 type story where a good chunk of Kryptonians survive their world's destruction (including Kal and Kara's family) and become refugees on Earth, and we then follow Kal El as he joins forces with private eye Lois Lane (so more like Alien Nation)

I write really sporadically and I don’t necessarily like to write in ‘order’ but like here’s a scene from like the middle of my Captain Marvel fic, for context I took some inspiration from the fic Split (I’ll link in a reblog) and the old comic and separated the identities of Captain and Billy and made them both unique entities and cap has ‘lost’ Billy but anyway look at this scene I wrote last night leading up to cap obliterating Superman in a homage to ep Clash in the JL unlimited cartoon (I’ll definitely revise this when I have a full scene and a real chapter to put this in but I’m happy with how it stands alone like this so I’ll post it, I never get around to making a cohesive fic at least I posted this)
As little by little he’s allowed memories to filter through his mind he realizes how absolutely fucked his current understanding of pain is because of Billy.
It’s not his fault, Billy was just a child who’s been heavily abused and bullied.
He was so strong, finding some way to still be so bright eyed and hopeful even when his fingers and toes burn as he tried to warm them on winter days, even as angry older kids kicked him until bones broke, or even when-
With Billy as his hand they’ve shaken off things that crippled his past hands with pain(it's a strange mix of pride at Billy’s strength, heartache at the fact he faced so much so young, and rage at the injustice of it that always fills his chest when he thinks of how things used to be), take now for example. Superman is beating him through buildings and city streets and he’s taking it. Standing back up with every hit Superman lands and trying so hard to talk to him. He barely registers the bank safe that the other hero brutally slams into him, ramming him into the earth and forcing asphalt to conform around his form, nearly enveloping him whole.
He doesn’t want to hurt his teammates but Superman is getting more and more enraged with every hit that doesn’t bring Marvel down and the captain himself is starting to feel that anger at the other hero that he’s tried so hard to bottle bubble up and overflow.
It’s raining, it’s storming.
He’s less in his own head, but the ache of the memory of Billy remains while the fire of anger at his teammate’s own actions burns at his common sense.
He’s looking for something, or someone.
Of his body’s own accord he launches into the air. The rage beating in his chest is his only guide.
He’s alone and doesn’t understand why.
He punts that blue bastard out the cloudless sky, his costume makes shockingly good camouflage on a day like this.
He tackles a beast and sends them both hurtling to the mud.
Not for long.
It’s Wrath, one of the seven deadly enemies of man.
He channels his lightning and his speed. Zeus and Mercury, but there are no gods in this.
It's taunting him, asking if he wants to see his team members and slashing at his face.
There hasn’t been a patron in his pantheon that he’s been able to feel since- not since-
-and he sees him, he sees the familiar dark suit as the sky flashes white with lightning, he sees Black Adam.
There’s no god who has their hand in this.
They’re being circled, surrounded by all the deadlies at once and in this moment he knows what’s happened to the other champions and the council…
Only Captain Marvel.

What if Kevin could use magic in the DCU? PT:2
• When Kevin started the fire he panicked.
•Kevin was out of that house as fast as possible after grabbing his emergency bag and however much cash he could stuff into it
•He ended up barely making the bus to Gotham when he had to change busses for the last remainder of the journey after leaving his book in the restroom at the bus stop
• The timeline follows some of the chain of events that happen in my AO3 fic as he holes up in a fire station in crime alley so he can practice magic without anyone catching him
• Gotham is actually home to many of those involved with the occult down in Gotham village, so Kevin makes trips over there to get ingredients and supplies
• Kevin doesn’t go to Gotham village too often since after meeting the owner of Hokus Pokus, she told him that using magic often wouldn’t be safe if he didn’t want to attract the wrong attention
• Kevin hides the fire station using a cloaking spell when shit hits the fan during more city wide attacks in hopes for there to be less damage done to it
• This is how after a rough night with poison ivy covering half of Gotham with vines Kevin ends up surprised to find someone inside the fire station
• Black hair in the shape of horns and a cat named Teekl, it was Klarion the Witchboy
• After a tense start, something about sensing a magic familiar to somebody called the hellblazer, a trip to Batburger seemed to bring a calmer atmosphere
• After the batburger and ice cream Kevin was offered a deal to learn magic from Klarion but in exchange, there would be a partnership to cause chaos and trouble on the earth for the “heroes” for fun
•Kevin’s only clause was that children were off limits, but that he had no trouble causing some mischief and general problems to citizens
• With an unbreakable vow sealed in blood, thus began the start to a chaotic friendship
• These nerds screw around with the JL so much, from making it snow on the hottest day in the year in Star city, causing school to be cancelled for the whole day, all the way to casting a charm to turn the Gotham Vigilantes costumes bright pink (that was the scariest moment in Kevin’s life)
• This all happens during the end of Kevin’s first year in Gotham, and Kevin ends up quitting his job at the diner and pretty much going wherever Klarion decides. Hiding his identity by turning his hair black and hiding the scar on his face with glamour
• Though when Kevin wants to take a break from the “technical villany”, he’ll stow away in his fire station for a little bit to check on Alex, Bill, and the diner
• The current goal for Kevin is to infuse magic into tech to make better items to protect himself with/ sell to Bill so that he can fund his research (Klarion finds the research boring)
•  Kevin ended up meeting some magic users by being affiliated with Klarion such as Zatanna, Captain Marvel, and eventually John Constantine

Constantine isn’t ashamed to admit he is panicking as he calls and emergency, all hands on deck, meeting. There is a strong possibility that one of their best heroes is majorly fucked. He makes eye contact with a grim Captain Marvel who seems to understand his panic. As the last of the League streams in Constantine scans the room. Finally, he catches sight of a dark figure that looks like he’s about demand information.
Constantine does not let him. He has his own demands.
“What the bloody hell did you do!?” He storms up to Batman stunning him momentarily. Constantine rolls on not letting the man breathe.
“What could you have possibly done to get yourself this fucked?! How are we going to fix this?!”
The Bat glowers, “ Explain Constantine. What are you on about?”
Constantine looks at him incredulously, “ You don’t even know,” he turns to Marvel “He doesn’t even know!” his voice edges on manic laughter. He turns back to Batman with panicked smile and a crazy look in his eyes.
“You’ve earned the ire of the Ruler of the Infinite Realms, the Ghost King: Phantom!”
“Umm… is that a big issue?” Superman questions drawing Constantine’s attention.
“Is it a big issue? IS IT A BIG ISSUE?! ITS THE BLOODY BIGGEST ISSUE!!”
Thats when Captain Marvel sees fit to interject, “ His highness, King Phantom is usually a benevolent ruler. He won the throne from the previous tyrant Pariah Dark in single combat. He is in charge of the Infinite Realms, the space between realities that links the multiverse and the afterlife together. He is a hero in his own right and normally he wouldn’t be someone we had to worry about. -”
“Then what is the issue?!” Batman demands.
Constantine turns to him once more, “The issue is that that benevolent ruler is out for your head!”
“ You have to understand, after defeating Pariah and taking over the realms Phantom dismantled the skeleton armies and put many protections for the human realm into place. However, as of three days ago Phantom aligned with his first cult. He has sent out a message to all the magical beings in the realms: ghosts, elves, demons, fae. He wants Batman, alive though no other rules regarding his condition, and he wants him like last week.” Marvel took over again.
“ And when an ultra-powerful being who is generally benevolent and peaceful wants your head on a pike and served on a silver platter it generally regarded as a pretty bad thing!” Constantine’s voice dripping in condescension. “Every magical being in the nearest 17 dimensions are on the prowl for you Bats! And when they get you they’ll deliver you straight to the Ghost King in hopes of gaining his favor!”
The Flash spoke up, expressing his concern, “Geez Big Guy, what did you do?”
The JL turned to a silent Batman with curiosity and worry.
“… I Don’t Know”
DPXDC prompt. Dead on main.
Okay, Danny’s revenge for Jason through the Joker murder is fine.
But imagine the wrath of the Ghost King who responds to a call for help from his boyfriend and finds Red Hood with his throat cut and bleeding. Aside from it, there’s a bloody batarang on the roof. And it just pisses the Phantom off. Bat just left main treasure of his core to die.
Danny is still terrified even when Frostbite confirms that Jason will survive. Dan’s future is still fresh in his memory. That’s probably why when the councilman takes him off hospital ward duty to clarify what His Majesty wants as the guarantor of the Peace Treaty with demon race and what price to set for summons from cults Danny answers without a second thought.
Phantom: Batman.
Ghost: From a cult, Your Majesty?
Councillors have long been accustomed to Phantom giving strange requests so that people would not have the opportunity to really summon him.
Phantom: From the cult, from demons, ghosts or elves. Whatever. I need Batman and I need him yesterday. I give any reward to whoever delivers him to me, the price will be fair.
Ghost: Your word is our command.
~~~~~
In Gotham it’s 4 AM when Constantine is calling an emergency Justice League meeting.
'What did you do, Bats?' Shazam asks with undisguised concern.
~~~~~
Bonus points if Jason has to teleport himself directly to the JL space station and stop his feral lover from murder. Yeah, this is definitely not how he planned to reveal who was hiding under the Red Hood.

How would you rate Marvel and DC's showings at SDCC?
Marvel was great. DC was terrible. I should be at the point now where I don't let that bother me as it's been the case ever since BvS, but damnit I'm not happy with the state of DC outside the Trinity.
Tumblr media
Running down the list for Marvel:
Comics - Obviously the big news is Hickman writing a "Sandman" for Marvel. My guess is it's either a Dr. Strange book, or a book focused on the Marvel Abstracts (Death, Order, Chaos, the Living Tribunal, etc). Of course I will be picking that up Day 1. Otherwise the Tradd Moore Dr. Strange book sounds interesting, I'm hopeful that the new F4 creative team will come out guns blazing, Aaron is finally off Avengers but we don't know what's next for him, there's going to be a "Cold War" Captain America event featuring Steve and Sam, Cantwell is leaving Iron Man with issue 25, and he's doing a Namor book and another book where Osborn will be a hero going by the moniker "Gold Goblin". Krakoa will last until 2024 at least which is when they might start entering the second act of Hickman's plan. None of the Spider-Man teases interested me.
Animation - Goddamn but that Spider-Man cartoon sure interests me! Gorgeous art style, finally a Marvel cartoon with an actual budget again. They say it's set in the MCU but that can't be true. You've got Norman and Otto showing up here which would outright contradict No Way Home, and Peter gets a classic costume. I assume this is set in the "MCU Multiverse" like the What-If series, on a different Earth. Can't wait to watch, would be nice if we could have great Batman, Superman, and Spider-Man cartoons all running simultaneously like the 90s again. Never seen the X-Men 90s cartoon but maybe I'll go watch that and check out the revival.
Film/TV - Aside from Spider-Man, Blade, and F4 I don't have any interest in the upcoming Marvel slate. Maybe I'll go see the Avengers movies but right now I'm scaling back. Hot damn did this show the confidence invested in Feige all the same, even coming off of the worst Marvel Phase yet he still is able to get people excited over a bunch of logos. That Wakanda Forever trailer was beautiful but I can't help feeling bitter over what it means for T'Challa.
Tumblr media
For DC
Comics - Williamson's big "reveal" only elicited eye rolls and groans from what I've seen. Nobody cares about infinite Earths when you can't even put out books featuring anyone but the Bats. Aside from two Static books and a YA Superman book, EVERYTHING else was Batman related. I get that DC likely wants to hold back on revealing what's coming in 2023 until we're deeper into Dark Crisis, but it's painful to see how small the DCU has shrunk compared to Marvel. They're not even trying right now.
Animation - The only interesting reveal was the 2023 DTV lineup of JL/RWYB, Batman: The Doom That Came to Gotham, Legion of Superheroes, and JL: Warworld. Only Legion and Warworld caught my eye, not a RWYB fan, and DtctG's main appeal is the Mignola art which I doubt they can afford to replicate. Other two seem to be the Tomorowverse movies, and both are likely going to star Superman in a lead role given Legion has his symbol in the promo and Warworld is self-explanatory. That takes the sting out of him not getting his own solo movie for his 85th at least. Ideally Legion would be an adaption of the Johns/Frank Superman & the Legion of Superheroes arc, and Warworld would be an adaption of PKJ's Warworld Saga, with the League replacing the Authority, but it's just as likely they will be original stories. Guess the rumors of a CoIE trilogy were false, no matter I'm not a huge fan of that story anyway. Edit: Looks like the Legion story is going to be Superman introducing Supergirl to the team, that could still be fun although I hope Clark is more involved than just passing her off to them and disappearing.
Film - Shazam 2 looks funny but I expect it to be another modest success. Black Adam looks cool but everyone was hoping the rumor Cavill would show up was true, and weren't happy when it didn't happen. Deadline wouldn't usually report "buzz" if there wasn't at least plausible cause but this time they looked like fools. Cavill and WB have been playing a game of chicken for five years and I'm tired of it. If you're seriously going to let the Rock put a post credit scene in BA that sets up a showdown with Superman, fucking get a Superman. Either give Cavill another solo movie like he wants or recast the role, because Cavill is not going to blink. Damn if WB doesn't look sad right now, can't even promote their 2023 movies because of the Miller and Heard controversies, never mind talking about the future.
DC got bodied this year. Speculation that they're saving reveals for Fandome feel far fetched to me given A. the likelihood that there are changes to the slate coming because of the restructure and Hamada's likely departure, and B. last year they announced a date for Fandome in April and it's almost August now. I don't think we'll get a Fandome this year because everyone is waiting for Zaslav to pick his new DC head and then they'll be the one to start greenlighting pitches. Five years since Snyder got kicked out and DC is still a mess. What a waste.

It is such an honor to read your fics, omg 💖💖💖
I absolutely loved and adored your Captain Marvel fics, "Split", "Baby Blues" and "From the Shadows"!!! You inspired me to start writing my own Captain marvel fics (they're still WIPs, haha). Your characterization of Billy and the other Justice league members have shook me to my core on how amazingly fantastic you capture them!!
Are you working on any more fics at the moment?
Aww thank you so much!
There really isn't anything as amazing as knowing I could inspire other people. I eagerly look forward to anything you decide to share with us!
I do have a few fics I'm working on right now! I've got a (fairly long) oneshot called Sticky Fingers about Billy trying to give up his bad habit of petty theft that he picked up living on the streets. A few of my readers here on Tumblr actually voted on this idea! I hope to have that one out in a week or two!
I've also got two more long fics in the works, I posted short snippets of both of them pretty recently.
Pretty Little Thing is a mystery about Billy being kidnapped by a serial killer while the JL (including a few members I haven't written before!) try to find Captain Marvel, but they don't know his secret identity.
One Last Chance is about Billy being forced into a group home and signed up to have a mentor. He gets matched with Lois Lane who encourages him to pursue his dreams as an investigative reporter for WHIZ radio as they look into the mystery of Mary’s disappearance.
I like having a few chapters ready before I start posting longer fics so it might take some time before I can share them with y'all, but you'll get to see them soon!
Thank you again for you lovely comments and support💜

mmm more clishes.... Idk reverse background or personality kind of au? :/
ill do you one better 1 of my favorite mutual, reverse & personality au, they’re the same age bc I have a tiny idea *shy hands*
this is uh. a really long one thay started to lag my phone too
• oh god guys I got vivid memories of ra’s being a good grandfather and I can’t get it out of my head
• i hate it ur honor
• but ok. krypton didn’t get blown up, instead, they all migrated to earth, more specifically kansas.
• the kryptonians are angry and enraged, they are treated as if they are monsters when they arrived peacefully. they tried to kill them.
• so in return, the aliens killed the humans.
• they created a secret underground. that secret underground is to help aliens or meta humans and kill humans.
• all of them hated aliens and sought to destroy them. until kal el found a reporter trying to help aliens who were injured due to an explosion the government did to take out one of their bases.
• kal el.. fell in love with her. lois lane, she is an reporter fighting for alien rights.
• he met with her. in secret. and they.. had formed a connection. an amazing one.
• and then they had a baby.
• at the alien base, but.. she was human and people did not like that. so they wiped her mind and made her believe that they never had a kid. like the last few months.. wasnt real. she had gone missing those months since the aliens didn’t want her trying to hide the baby, they made her believe the last few months was spent in a coma and kal had found her and taken her to a hospital.
• he couldn’t see her anymore. he mourned for her lost presence, but they would have killed her if she stayed.
• but now they had precious jon el. he would be the highlight of their cause.
• they noticed his powers came in faster than kal’s, so they perfected his powers.
• he was going to bring humanity down on order of his grandfather, jor el
• kal saw his son break slowly. loses that childhood innocence that kal tried to maintain.
• his sons amazing bright blue eyes dulling, loses the spark that he cherished.
• kal was going to get him out of there, try to refuge the remaining childhood he had. even if it killed him.
• damian wayne! the bright bubbly and prodigal son of bruce and talia wayne ( b & t are married, suck my— ). the press loved him, he was just.. him. he was the baby and was cute, the cutest ever
• he was an expert in martial arts due to the training his grandfather, father, mother, & so much more gave him
• ra’s owns a farm. he’s.. sorry all i get is farm ra’s vibes due to.. something:) think endgame thanos, yk?
• he was the baby robin, one that you never messed with due to the herd of heroes who would come save him
• kalel left jon with Lois, a brief note explaining the current situation
• it was weird, jon was ten and was meeting lois for the first time
“Hi, honey.. I’m lois.”
“I know.. Dad told me about you.”
“Oh.. right. What do you want for dinner?”
“I’m not hungry.”
“You have to eat.”
“No! I’m not hungry!”
• an explosive, superpower alien. Lois is way out of her head.
• he had outbursts, a lot of them. it was hard, really hard for Lois; she took some time off from the planet and focused on jon
• he broke a lot of stuff. he sometimes could not control his strength, but she was working with him
• but then one night he ran away, or flew away. he felt remorse for making Lois cry. she saw this as a win, but she lost her kid
• but then a little robin found him
“Um. Are you okay?”
“Huh-what- what do you want? Why are you talking to me?”
“Because you look sad? Yknow - hugs make people feel better. My ahki ( brother ) hugs me when I’m upset and it makes me feel better.”
“Don’t touch me.”
*Damian walked to him, smiling softly* “cmon, i won’t hurt you, silly. I’m robin.”
“A bird?”
“Haha- no, a vigilante- i sorta snuck out. My family can be a bit overbearing- and I sorta embarrassed myself at this theater thing.. some person—“
“Did I ask?”
“No.. sorry.”
“Hey— what are you doing - !”
“Hugging you.”
Jon won’t admit that he likes it, it’s different and weird, like this traffic cone in front of him. Jon pushed him off though, making himself stumble and fall on his ass.
“Ow..”
“Don’t touch me.” With rhat, Jon flew off into the night. Damian didn’t know who this boy was. But he intended on finding out. Even if it killed him. ( maybe not that extreme, but- )
• look damian was smart, right? smarter than average, and smarter than everyone in his school. teachers included ( ha ha )
• so he had to find this boy! so he started looking into aliens. until his family put an end to it
“Damian, this is dangerous.”
“But baba ( dad )”
“No. Go to your room.”
“Ugh!”
• he did slam his door shut if you were wondering
• he will find the mysterious alien boy, okay? he will!
• his brothers teased him and said he had a crush
• no he didn’t! the boy was really mean, he pushed damian- why would he do that? whatta jerk!
• but damian did find him again when he ventured off to metropolis to visit an old friend, colin.
“Alien boy!”
“That’s not my name, bird boy.”
“And that’s not mine. You didn’t tell me yours!”
“I can’t.”
“Why not?”
“It’s safer for you.”
“I can defend myself. You sound so silly, please tell me your name?”
“No.”
“‘Least the first initial?”
“Fine. J.”
“J it is.”
“Yours?”
“Wha- what? I told you my code named.”
“It’s only fair.”
“.. Okay. D.”
“D. Okay.”
• damian talked to him for a bit before jon did fly off when damian was talking about the stars, damian knew he was getting closer to him
• but he got grounded. whoops. he wasn’t supposed to go out
“Give me your phone, Damian.”
“What if I go out? I need a phone, baba.”
“I.. Your computer”
“School work.”
“Switch.”
“What! No- but-!”
“Damian.”
• yeah damian was very mad, but what made him madder was that apparently, his family was listening to the secret conversations between J and him. but d didn’t know that yet..
• his family needed to track down J, they didn’t care if people were aliens, the JL had aliens.. but they had no idea who this boy was, and the way damian was looking into the underground alien sanctuary, that worried rhem. Damian was smart and cunning, but he is able to portray an innocent persona, they all had the habit of undermining his intellect, so if damian began looking into this, it was for a reason
• jon found that D rambled. A lot. Even when jon didn’t respond. Jon doesn’t even know how D always found where he was. It’s so weird.
• but Lois noticed a change in jon.. he was. calmer. she didn’t know how, but when he went out, he came back calmer.
“I have to go to Gotham for a gala hosted by Bruce Wayne, would you.. like to come?”
“Do you want me to?”
“I’d like you to, but you don’t have to.”
“.. Fine.”
• lois walked to bruce with Jon in tow.
• “bruce.” “Lois, looking lovely as always.. who is this?” “Jon, my son. Say hi, Jon.” “Hi..” “He can hang around one of my sons— Damian, if you want? I’m sure him and his friends would love to have Jon around.” “What do you say Jon? Would you like that?” “Not really..” “I assume you, Damian doesn’t bite. Not anymore. And he’s pretty accepting.” “.. Fine.”
• damian was called over by his father and he did a double take. J. Was here. In front of him. Damian just internally shrugged and held a hand out, “Hi! I’m Damian! Wanna go play with my friends! there’s a game room so we don’t have to be with the gross adults.. you can also just.. sit there. My friends are pretty.. Loud?” “Okay.”
• jon had to take his hand back from damian since damian began eagerly tugging him.
“Damian seems to be accepting him pretty easily.” “I hope they can be friends, Jon.. doesn’t have any. I have only recently got him from his.. father.” “Odd, does he go to school?” “No, not yet, I’m still trying to get him adjusted.” “Ah.. Damian goes to West-Reeves. Maybe he could go there?” “That private school? Bruce.. I cannot afford that- not all of us are millionaires.” “Mhm.. I could pay.” “I can’t let you do that.” “He could get a scholarship.” “In what?” “Academics or athletics.” “Ill.. Talk to him about it. “ “well, ms lane, I just go talk with potential partners, I’ll see you later.”
• j got accepted into west reeves under a athletic thingy.
• that was cool. they became best friends!
• sorta
• flashforward 5 years to 15, their dynamic only grew. Damian told Jon his identity, jon didn’t become a hero, but did learn how to stitch damian up because tje idiot showed up bleeding a lot.
• everything was going great
On the phone, Damian: J! J! Guess what’
J: you’re so loud, D, what?
D: I got the lead! In the play!
J: no fucking way?
D: way!
J: Good j—— *crash*
D: J-?
D: J- Jonathan?
D: oh no.
• the call was ended abruptly. Jon always finished his sentences. Something was wrong. Something was really wrong.
• so damian called Lois quickly and ran downstairs to the batcave, lois wasn’t picking up either, she normally always picked up or at least sent a text. She did neither
“Baba!”
“Damian? You should be asleep.”
“Something’s wrong! Somethings really wrong!”
“Jon and Lois- Jon- I heard a crash- and- and”
“Habibi.”
“Mama?”
“Breathe; tell me what’s wrong.”
“I was on a call with Jon.. I told him about the play since I wanted him to go and stuff. Then I heard a crash. And then the line went dead. I’m scared— what if something happened!”
“Let’s not jump to conclusions, what happened with Lois?”
“She didn’t pick up the phone— she normally does! Or she texts me and says she will call back!”
“Maybe she is asleep.”
“No! You need to believe me!”
“Damian, calm down, I do, we will go to see if they’re okay, you get back to bed.”
“No. I’m coming with.”
“No you arent.”
“But!”
“Listen to your father.”
• okay fine. He’ll listen, damian went back up to his room for half an hour before calling his friends to do a rescue mission. He had an extra suit in his room, he can do this.
• with his team, it consisted of shazam, abuse, nobody, and green lantern, himself too, of course.
• captain marvel picked him up once he was ready and they met up with the other 3.
Maya: you said he’s in trouble?
Dami: Yes.
Colin: than let’s go save him!
• they went and saved the bestie, nearly got killed too
• oh and now damians sorta probably grounded when batman shows up 🤡
J:You came for me..?
D:We all did.. why are you so surprised?
J: * wraps his arms around damian * thank you
D: i- yeah.. anytime. what’re friends for?
• friends. Jon liked that. Jon also liked the way Damian’s cheeks went red when jon hugged him
• jon knew he chuckled before Damian’s arms wrapped around him. hard. Damian was a hard hugger
• jon became a superhero at 16. Damian had even more of a reason to sneak into his window every night now! Lois had began thinking the two were dating
D: Us? Dating? Please! He is way too good for me!
J:
L: awwww, gosh, how haven’t you been swept off your feet yet?
J: he has, but he has rejected them all
D: what can I say? I’m a gay theater kid ( this is a /j i promise a big big joke ) so they gotta be dramatic enough to put up with me, AND they need to do something big and bold to actually catch my eye
L: *laughs* take notes, jon
J: mom!
• jon has gone to a few of Damian’s plays and to dress rehearsals
• he was also there to watch damian wreck a car during his drivers test
D: there was a fricking squirrel there, J!
J: are you sure? maybe you’re just a shitty driver?
D: you’re a shitty driver!
J: cmon don’t pout
D: ‘m not!
• he was pouting. oopsie. jon did get him ice cream after
• jon goes by abnormal, because he’s an alien and because I don’t have any other ideas
J: this girl asked me out
M: oh? who! tell us!
D: ..what?
J: yeah, in my physics class
T: ooh! get it, jonno
M: give us a name, coward!
J: her name is Charlotte— but she goes by charlie. she’s.. different. red head. pretty freckles—
M: pretty freckles? does Jonny have a crush?! Oh my gosh, our sons growing up, Tai!
T: im about to start sobbing
J: fuck offff— D?
D: huh?
J: you’re being quiet, you plotting??
D: uh. yeah! duh- *he nudged jons shoulder with his, forcing a grin* figuring out ways to embarrass you in front of your girlfriend.
J: sucha brat- * jon ended up putting Damian into a playfully chokehold *
• damian just played along. he just smiled and watched as jon began walking with her instead of their friend group
M: hey- kid- you alright?
D: I’m onto a year younger than you Maya.
M: tou didn’t answer the question
D: I’m fine, why wouldn’t I be? You’re silly.
• tai ended up pulling him aside
T: when are you going to tell him?
D: how am I supposed to when he basically has a girlfriend now?
T: are you just gonna sit there and pine all day??
D: yes, thank you for understanding
• he’s a stubborn little shit and will absolutely not confess, his best friend is happy, who is he to ruin that?
T: he’s totally jealous.
J: so- do you- do you think it’ll work? That he’ll be surprised?
T: totally
J: thank you for lending me your girlfriend, Maya
M: anytime- not literally- you aren’t having her again
• this was all a trick, sorry, d.. jon does like you
• ( hope you all saw that foreshadowing earlier :) )
• damian needed big and dramatic. jon was gonna do that. even if he was uh. sorta aloof and shy.
• he learned how to sing and play the guitar for Damian. maya and tai were gonna scatter flower petals onto the floor for Damian to follow ( they will tell him too too )
• the whole school will probably watch as Damian finally gets a big dramatic proposal
• damian will love it
M: just follow the petals!
D: I’m confused
M: trust us
• damian did and followed the petals and low and behold, jon kent with a guitar and small smile
D: j-jon?
J: hey. I wrote you a song
D: no you didn’t
J: shut up and listen dumbass
*after that amazing song of how Jon asked damian out to homecoming*
D: that was amazing
J: dramatic enough for you?
D: YES! ( damian went and sprinted to jon, hugging him so tightly before leaning in to kiss him ) we are boyfriends now right
J: yeah, idiot
D: ur the idiot
• I can’t add anymore because myphones really laggy, I hope you enjot

I want to start this by saying that I am so happy I’m not the only one who thinks about a possessive JL 👀
Okay, so onto what is actually focused on the posts😅.
Ive been thinking about this for an hour now, and just the sheer betrayal Billy would feel is unexplainable.
I know I talked about Cap not feeling empathy if Billy isn’t there, piloting, being the voice in his head telling him to be good always. And I also talked about Billy essentially being dead without magic. Without his champion title. But I do wholeheartedly believe that the next best(worst) thing is him feeling like he wants to die.
Because at least in the continuity where he’s going to be 20 soon, he would only remember a small portion of his life when he wasn’t the Champion. Being the Champion gave him meaning. It gave him a purpose. He feels happy now because he got all of his relationships from being the Champion. He never would’ve met the JL, magic users, MARY.
And all that happen at the end is he dies? Who cares?
Other Billys have died. They’ve died and magic has prospered, become even more powerful. While there is a power vacuum, all of them leave people in charge. Fates, Marys, Freddys, Zatannas. Those worlds live on, and Billy will too. When he dies and Magic either chooses another, or just allows him to pick a successor, he will live on. As part of them, or as Magic.
He will watch his trusted friends fight, and he will still be with them. Not as something tangible, but still. He will be there.
And he tries to explain this to the League. He knows he sounds apathetic. He sees it in the way slow horror creeps onto the faces of his friends. But he can’t help it. He’s always known. He’s always seen other versions of himself trudge into the Rock, blood covering their bodies. Heard and felt their last breaths. It’s normal to him, and he’s sorry he can’t shake it. He just hopes they understand that whatever happens will happen.
He’s glad he’s made his mark. He’s glad he’s helped so many heroes. He’s glad he gets to call them his friends before he makes the one sacrifice every Billy has to make. He’s ready
He just doesn’t account for what the Justice League thinks.
Sure, they all know that death comes with the territory of being a hero. But to know about it and press on so nonchalantly? To expect it? To welcome death like an old friend?
To LEAVE THEM——
And what’s even worse is that he tells them to welcome his replacement with open arms. He tells them that somehow, someone new will be given the duties and responsibilities he once had. Maybe not the title, but they will be the closest the universe has to a new champion. And Billy wants them to welcome them.
Like hell.
Captain Marvel may be their teammate, but Billy Batson is their friend. They’ve watched him grow up from the ashes of his childhood. They’ve cheered him on through so many battles. He is a staple of the hero community, a beacon of hope. What every hero strives to be. In and out of costume, he is a hero.
So they have no qualms in what they choose to do. Not if it leaves them with their friend alive.
And through some insane way, a way that I honestly do not have a grasp on because I never care about the important stuff, just the angst, they do it. The Champion is gone. It is just the boy now. Just Billy.
And Billy feels like a shell of himself.
He is so used to magic humming within his body. He so used to it finding a home in him. Hearing the whispers from the gods. Feeling it like it’s his blood. He has never truly known his life without it.
And now he does. And it feels awful.
He based so much of himself around being the Champion. At one point, he stopped thinking of Cap and Billy as two separate people. Because he never stopped being the Champion once he detransformed.
An entire piece of him is gone and the JL are right there. Right outside of his “new home”, smiling with tears in their eyes. He’s freaking out, he feels so empty, and they have the nerve to smile!
They tell him that he’s safe now. They tell him he never has to worry about dying for Magic. They tell him that he doesn’t have to shoulder so much anymore. He tells them to get out of his sight. Surprise. They don’t.
It’s like he’s a zoo animal now. Heroes drop by. They talk. He doesn’t. He’s just so angry and he wants to punch one of them—But he doesn’t. He just lets them talk. Stares at the walls and the ceiling and his food and his bed and then his new apartment that he didn’t ask for.
He tells them he was promised something. Promised fields of gold wheat and a circle of champions to exchange stories with. He would’ve spent eternity in Elysium, for Gods sake. ELYSIUM! He would’ve traded stories. Jousted. Feasted forever. Joined them as someone was chosen. Watched. Battled. Lived on as Magic itself. He would’ve had a purpose and he would’ve had it forever. Dad would’ve been so proud.
They tell him it’s for the best. That he can live for himself now. That they will take care of him. He’s still their friend, their brother-in-arms.
Diana says that she will protect him from any god that tries to speak to him.
Barry says that they can go back to pranking Hal without him worrying about him dying.
Clark says that the titans and yj are so excited to see him again.
They all expect him to be happy again. After everything.
It all feels meaningless now. Without what made him whole.
*drops mic*
Okay my “Billy gets infected with magical stuff” posts got to me and now I’m thinking of that The Last Unicorn couple of lines when she’s stuck in a human body
“You are an idiot! You hear me? You’ve lost her! You’ve trapped her in a human body, she’ll go mad!”
“What have you done to me? I’m a unicorn. I’m a unicorn! I wish you let the Red Bull take me. I wish you left me to the harpy. I can feel this body dying all around me!
Idk man, just a creature of magic like Captain Marvel suddenly completely reduced to humanity and actually feeling age, his body degrading and dying with him alive inside it until one day he isn’t and there’s no magic or blessings to keep him alive and going.
Maybe a Split au in which, by severing the magic that keeps them as one entity, you sever the connection to the magic and leave the separate consciousness as humans. Idk man, I just think the vibes of some edits I’ve seen would fit these guys for some angst bc my mind just loves misery

March 2021 Roundup
Reading
Benevolence by Julie Janson - One of those books that caught my eye at the library (I’m a sucker for the “top picks” shelf) and I’m glad I picked up. The story of Muraging, given over in 1813 to the Parramatta Native School, but always trying to find a way back to her family and culture in the brutal early days of colonisation - resilient in the face of so much hardship. Janson is a Burruberongal woman of the Durag Aboriginal Nation, and Muraging is based on her great-great grandmother and Durag oral histories. An engrossing but often difficult read, about a period of history not often told from this perspective.
One Day by David Nicholls - A book that has been sitting on my bookshelf for so long I don’t even remember buying it. I vaguely recall seeing the movie adaptation on a plane once so must have enjoyed it, but can’t say I would recommend this book. Depicting St Swithin’s Day every year in the lives of two absolute character cliches, from one night stand, to friendship, romance and marriage. The concept is neat and the writing has wit, but I just couldn’t bring myself to care about Dex (insufferable twat) and Emma (not like other girls) or their love story. Okay, it’s not that bad. It kind of grew on me by the end.
Watching
Superman and Lois (episodes 1-5) - I’ve had reservations about this show because of this but am giving it a shot. I have not followed the Arrowverse/Crisis but a friend did her best to explain it to me, although honestly I found it this show works just as well as a standalone. The premise is simple - Lois and Clark return to Smallville with their twin sons for teen superhero angst part two. To be honest, it feels so much like a Smallville revival that...I kind of wish it was?
Tyler Hoechlin makes a good Clark, but that padded Superman suit is an embarrassment - get rid of those fake muscles and show us some super collarbones! Elizabeth Tulloch is growing on me as Lois - she’s very...subdued, but imo lacking that spark Kidder, Hatcher, and Durance had. Honestly, subdued it how I would describe the show overall. Also the colour palette is sooo drab because gritty realism I guess.
I enjoy the family drama aspect of it, although I wish one of the kids was a girl. I mean, I understand why they’re twin boys - the son becomes the father and the father the son and all that - complete with both sons being named after both of Clark’s fathers (is there a name for the trope of the hero’s kids being named after his dead family/mentors as if the mother had no input??). The Captain Luthor/Morgan Edge plots are still in the setup stage so hard to comment on them.
I sound harsh, I don’t dislike the show overall (and there’s some really good elements there). We’ll see, I guess.
Man of Steel/Batman v Superman/Zack Snyder’s Justice League - I’ve never really been a huge fan of the Snyderverse, and have been trying my best to avoid the Discourse about the Snyder cut over the past few years (from both sides). I have however been following what Ray Fisher has had to say, and can’t deny my interest was piqued by the idea that there was an entirely different film out there that did right by its characters. So I went back and revisited MoS/BvS before embarking on JL to give the franchise another shot.
While I still don’t really vibe with Snyder’s aesthetic (it’s just a bit bleak and muddy for me) I think these films are actually better when viewed together as one long story. I can appreciate that he made an effort to step away from the Donner nostalgia, and tell this epic modern myth of gods among men, and can enjoy it for what it is. The Snyder cut was entertaining enough, and I quite enjoyed aspects of it - Cyborg is indeed the heart of the film (but I honestly wish it had been explored in his own movie), and Wonder Woman, Aquaman, and the Flash break up the dreary tone.
It was nice to see the Amazons again (and I loved “Amazon’s, show your fear”/“we have no fear”). I like this take on Clark and Lois, even if most of the relationship happens offscreen, and there’s certainly more in the Snyder cut - even if I wish there was greater depth to Clark’s arc in particular, less of the god and more of the man.
I did however notice a pattern in these films in that I was interested/compelled by the first world building/character half, and having my eyes glaze over in the endless action cgi-fest of the second half (I have this issue with Marvel too). And the Snyder cut is indeed endless - it rivals Return of the King for number of endings but is much less cohesive, like Snyder was throwing everything at the wall since this might be his last chance. There’s a nice montage at the end with a bit of hope, and I was thinking well this is a nice uplifting note to end on, thank you! But nope, twenty more minutes of grimdark prophecising (in isolation, an interesting scene, but felt so out of place to show the team torn apart again immediately after we’ve just seen them come back together).
I also lol’d at David Thewlis getting a front credit for what amounted to his cgi face behind a massive helmet. Collect that paycheck, my man!
Coming 2 America - I watched the original as a teenager more times than I can count, truly iconic. Look, I dislike the sequel/reboot/remake merry go round when it dominates the scene, but to be honest I am a sucker for a sequel that’s lovingly made and really just an excuse to get the band back together and have fun. Worth it for the costumes and dance sequences alone (especially the En Vogue/Salt n Pepper/Gladys Knight mashup), but I really enjoyed this overall. There’s nothing groundbreaking and it doesn’t try to be. Was it necessary? No. But did I enjoy it? Absolutely.
Actually, scratch that. The costumes and hair are absolutely necessary.
The Prom (dir. Ryan Murphy) - Now I love a movie musical and this was...fine. It’s sweet and I enjoyed Meryl Streep doing her best Patti Lupone, and Nicole Kidman clearly having fun (even if she can’t Fosse to save her life) although I can’t say I found any of the songs memorable. James Corden, however, is pure cringe for reasons outlined here. But overall it’s light and fluffy, and not a terrible way to spend two hours of your life.
Superstore (seasons 1-6) - I’ve been binging on this for a while, and it’s a fun little show about the employees of a big box store - it’s nice to see America Ferrera back on screen (with producer credit). A great, diverse cast, but MVPs for me are Lauren Ash as Dina (you may recognise her voice as Scorpia from She-Ra), and Kaliko Kauahi as Sandra. While it did touch on some real-world issues - corporation malfeasance, unionisation, etc - ultimately it’s lighthearted and pleasant, especially the series finale that just goes full happy ending with a nice break from grim reality.
Allen v Farrow (dir. Kirby Dick and Amy Ziering) - I’ve never watched a Woody Allen film, and the clips I’ve seen of Woody Allen films haven’t changed my mind on this point. But what struck me seeing the clips of Manhattan in this documentary is just how young Muriel Hemingway was - this is not the Hollywood standard 22 year old playing 17 (which is problematic in other ways) but an actual teenager with a baby face and childlike voice, in bed with a 40+ year old man and I am baffled that this film is so highly regarded - if nothing else it’s right up there on the screen.
But of course there is so much else, which makes this documentary hard to watch at times. To those who have followed these events there’s not much new here, but it does an excellent job of compiling the sources together and giving a timeline of events, as well as refuting many of the pro-Allen arguments, and giving Dylan a chance to speak for herself. There’s also a companion podcast which is worth a listen for added perspective.
Writing
I actually finished something, finally! Posted Debrief, a Smallville one-shot (3920 words). 1670 words done on my other Smallville wip.
Posted chapter 41 of Turn Your Face to the Sun (1865 words). Now that the Obi-Wan show is actually happening, I need to get this finished before it all becomes moot.
Total: 7455 words this month, making 23,962 for the year.

Pull List (03/17/2021)
Black Knight: Curse of the Ebony Blade #1 Captain America: Anniversary Tribute #1 Catwoman #29 Champions #5 Iron Fist: Heart of the Dragon #3 Justice League #59 Nightwing #78 Radiant Black #2 Thor #13 Ultraman: The Trials of Ultraman #1 Ultramega #1
Black Knight: Curse of the Ebony Blade - My knowledge of the Black Knight is limited, but I think the King in Black tie-in one-shot showed that the blade greatly affects Dane Whitman and I am curious to see that while he struggle to be a hero. I hope to enjoy this miniseries.
Captain America: Anniversary Tribute - Eighty years! Holy cow! Wish it was more Captain America stuff than the Avengers #4 getting a tribute, but this’ll still be fun.
Catwoman - I’m glad Jones is doing covers. I’ve read good things from Ram V. and I hope to continue. I’m glad Selina is back doing things in Gotham for the most part.
Champions - I’m glad this book is doing what it’s setting out to do with the Outlawed situation and how this team is handling C.R.A.D.L.E. and I am looking forward to the new creative team next issue.
Iron Fist: Heart of the Dragon - Involving Wakanda is a nice touch. I’m glad Luke Cage is also in this book helping Danny. I also am really enjoying the lettering especially what was done last issue when Danny was talking to that lady.
Justice League - The Bendis Justice League book! It was inevitable! I’m still going to try and enjoy myself because Green Arrow and Black Canary are here!. Shazam is here? Movie. Hippolyta is here??? I like but I am nervous. Naomi is here! And Aquaman because he doesn’t have a book sorry buddy. My problem with Snyder’s JL was that it felt too high concept and loaded.
Nightwing - Taylor has trapeze training how about that? With Babs being a supporting character I hope this focuses away from Bats. Saw a few things about Alfred and Dick and I thought that was touching. I would really like to see more of that.
Radiant Black - First issue was a good setup but it was very first issue-y. I think now that the ball is rolling more things can be done with this story and concept.
Thor - Last issue first panel was mean! Donald Blake getting his ass kicked by Throg and Lockjaw was very funny and it worked somehow. Also I thought Odin wasn’t gonna be used for a while but oh well.
Ultraman: The Trials of Ultraman - The first miniseries was very much about setting up the concept of Ultraman for a Marvel Comics audience. I hope more of the things that happen in Ultraman can start here with this miniseries.
Ultramega - This looks so much like Ultraman I’m surprised no lawyer has said anything. I think this will allow itself to be brutal with big guys fighting big monsters, and that’s why I paid big bucks for the fist issue!
Many good books came out this week. I’m glad some are miniseries because it gives me time to read them and other titles. Really looking forward to all my DC titles and nice to see an Image title in here that isn’t Monstress.
Happy readings!

the ultimate list of comic book recommendations
Hello and welcome everyone! So if you don’t know, my name is Meg, and I happen to be an avid comic book/graphic novel reader and collector (even though I often write in a more fanon universe). So I thought for this post I would compile some of my favorite books for y’all.
I’ll categorize these, but don’t be afraid to try something completely different that what you’ve read before! And for new readers, this list can be a great way to find out where to start. So with that in mind, here’s the list!
DC COMICS
“So I like Batman but I don’t know where to start!”
Batman: Year One by Frank Miller - A classic detective Batman Story; a great starting off point for the character and comic books as a whole.
Batman: The Dark Knight Returns by Frank Miller - Another classic, highly rated comic. Features an older Batman and introduces Carrie as Robin.
Batman: The Long Halloween by Jeph Loeb - My brother’s favorite. Gripping from start to end. More detective Bats.
For fans of darker/more artistic/”different” Batman stories
Batman: White Knight by Sean Murphy - Batman “bad”. Joker “good”.
Batman: The Black Mirror by Scott Snyder - Bats and Joker in an unlikely, drug-induced team up. Some of the best art in Batman.
Batman: Hush by Jeph Loeb and Jim Lee - Big fan of both writers. Very popular book in the fandom, but I’ve never personally read it (recommended by my brother).
For fans of Robins
A Death in the Family by Jim Starlin and Under the Red Hood by Judd Winick - pinnacle Jason stories; also for those looking for Tim Drake’s introduction.
Robin: Reborn by Chuck Dixon - Ignore the awful cover art; this is Tim Drake done right.
Red Robin by Christopher Yost - Hard to find this series in a physical copy so just read it online. Defining Tim Drake in one series *chef’s kiss* beautiful.
Super Sons by Peter Tomasi and Patrick Gleason - The best Damian out there in my opinion, plus the addition of the always adorable Jon Kent
Ensemble
Justice League by Geoff Johns - Say what you want about n52, but this is the best JL out there (don’t fight me on this). Great for beginning readers.
Kingdom Come by Mark Waid - Alex Ross is simply the best comic artist out there. This one is a classic, but probably shouldn’t be your first rodeo with DC.
Brightest Day by Geoff Johns - Again, not for beginning readers; requires A LOT of background knowledge. But amazing characterization despite the hoard of characters it features.
Justice League Dark by James Tynion IV - Ugh I just love Zatanna.
DC Bombshells by Marguerite Bennett - The best damn DC AU ever made
MARVEL COMICS
Must Read!!
Vision by Tom King - Quite literally a modern masterpiece. Just, ugh, if you take anything away from this list, it’s go pick up Tom King’s Vision. Don’t like Vision? Doesn’t matter go pick up Tom King’s Vision-
Street-level heroes just trying their best (my favorite kind of comics)
Hawkeye by Matt Fraction - Hands down my favorite comic series of all time. Perfect characterization of Clint and Kate. Pick these up before the Disney+ series comes out :) Cannot recommend this enough.
Ms. Marvel by G. Willow Wilson - Actual ray of sunshine Kamala Khan will take over your life. Follows her coming to grips with her powers as a POC teen who needs to balance school, home, and hero life.
Let’s hear it for the ladies!
Captain Marvel by Kelly Deconnick - Liked the movie? You’ll love this. So much heart and humor.
Dark Phoenix Saga by Chris Claremont - I got my copy signed by Claremont and almost cried. First comic I bought with my own money; has a special place in my heart.
Jean Grey by Dennis Hopeless - What can I say? I’m a Jean stan forever. A nice pick-me-up after DPS. Features a young Jean in the wrong universe.
Spider-Gwen by Jason Latour - Liked Spiderverse? Boy, do I have the comic for you.
Misc and Third Party
Watchmen by Alan Moore - Simply a masterpiece
Space Riders by Fabian Jr. Rangel - A fever dream from start to finish, in space. Amazing artistry.
Umbrella Academy by Gerard Way - Speaks for itself. The show is too damn good.
WHAT I’M READING NOW!
The New Teen Titans by Maru Wolfman and George Perez
Batman: Last Knight on Earth by Scott Snyder
DCEASED
Teen Titans: Raven by Kami Garcia
Hope these help!! Let me know what you think if you pick any of these up. Feel free to message me for more recs or information on any of these. Also, feel free to reblog with your favorite comics!! Lmk if you want to see more rec lists like these or even comic reviews :) Thanks!

Oh gosh, I absolutely adore your headcanons!
Immortal Billy HC deserves way more attention and love, there's an abundance of potential for angst and growth development! We typically see Billy as a kid who transforms into a magical adult, but I rarely see Billy actually growing up into an adult, I would love to see an adult version of him be explored and how he would deal with immortality and adulthood.
The twitch chat AU that the fandom spawned up is a beautiful gift. I often like to HC that the gods/patrons in Billy's head will invite other divine deities into the chat, acting like moderators with viewers. Maybe other gods like to view what's going on with the Champio of Magic, and pay a premium to see the twitch stream that is Billy's Captain Marvel adventures. Maybe some of them are Whiz Kid fans, haha. I also love the idea that the gods could potentially donate magical artifacts and other things to Billy, little donation wars to help Billy out. Or random donations that Billy just doesn't need or want.
Solomon: Ah, our poor son of Batson is in dire need of food supplies to survive the winter. Perhaps it is time we-
Zeus: AYO FAM ALREADY SENDING THE SMALL BOI 100 FRENCH DOVES 🕊 🙌 HE GON LOVE THIS GIFT FRFR!! 💯
Solomon: *sigh* not again...
Cleric, Ranger, and Rogue are not the D&D classes I would have expected to be chosen for Billy, but your explanations make so much sense!! They're so lovely and fit Billy's character extremely well! Also, cool beans on playing a D&D campaign! I've tried playing before but never had a game go long. RIP.
Omg uno reverse- aaa
Off the top of my head, my absolute favorite headcanon for Billy Batson is trans!Billy Batson. Ever since reading that headcanon in fics, I just can't stop imagining Billy as trans, the concept just feels so right for him, and adds on deeper layers of complexity and character to my boy. I love it when different interpretations of characters are explored within fandom, and Billy being trans is one I hope is introduced into canon one day, because it's canon to me.
I also LOVE Whiz Kid Billy Batson!! Both as a radio show host that the Justice League and other heroes adore, and as the superhero that he becomes instead of Captain Marvel (super powered Billy and not an adult). He's just so charming and cute, put this boy on a stage/give him a mic, and the world will listen to him for once. Billy has a lot to say and his opinions and words on superhero matters mean a lot to the superheroes who fight every day for the sake of innocent people. He's so profound and genuine that what he says will be honest and pure, while delivering such amazing speeches/conversations about heroism, vigilantism, ethics, etc. And as for Billy being Whiz Kid the superhero, I think he'd be absolutely charming and Fawcett city's sweetheart. Billy doesn't get to be a kid very often, so it'd be nice to give this kid more freedom than he usually does. Also, having Billy show off that a kid is just as powerful as superman is incredible to me.
One last HC would be the friendship the fandom gave to him and the supersons. They would make the perfect friend group, and I need to see more of them! There's a few fics I have of them on my WIP list, and I can't wait to share them when I'm done!
My favorite CM supporting character will always be Freddy Freeman. These two are best friends to the end, and Freddy is the one who will have Billy's back no matter what. ❤️ Freddy is incredible sweet, brave, smart, and a little dumb but we love that. I want to see him interact with Billy and the JL, as themselves, just bc it'd be funny.
This ended up being so long, but I had a lot to say!
Hello! Fan of your blog for a while now, and I've been meaning to scream about Billy Batson to you for some time, too.
I'm curious, what are your favorite personal headcanons for Billy Batson? And what D&D class do you think Billy would take/fall under?
Oh hi!! I'm a huge fan of your blog too, I love the Billy content <3
-
One headcanon I am constantly rotating in my brain is the whole "Billy is immortal and Captain Marvel doesn't age" concept. Because we all love Billy for his special power of Kid Turning Into Adult but also kids do that anyways after enough time so him dealing with adulthood and immortality is just.... so good....
I LOVE the communal Twitch Chat AU the Billy Batson fandom has created. The idea of all these gods just constantly yelling at Cap is so funny this poor guy cannot catch a break. I also like the "the Wizard put a magic filter on Billy" headcanon specifically for the surprises the League gets when a depowered Billy is suddenly swearing like, every other word. What do you mean you usually talk like that? What do you mean "A Wizard did it??"
-
I'm going to be honest. Despite being part of a ~2 year long D&D campaign (we're really bad at scheduling, it really shouldn't be this long), I know like... nothing about D&D. One moment I'm going to google some stuff.
Okay, so after a quick skim of the D&D Beyond class page, here's my Billy class headcanons:
Cleric: Because "A priestly champion who wields divine magic in service of a higher power" seems pretty spot-on to what Billy does in like. Base canon
Ranger: "A warrior who combats threats on the edges of civilization" would be accurate for a Billy who's more focused on the supernatural side of things (as opposed to the Punch Alien side of things). Especially one that focuses on honing the magic in his mortal form and not just relying on his Captain Marvel form to get out of trouble.
Rogue: "A scoundrel who uses stealth and trickery to overcome obstacles and enemies" would be great for a less magically-inclined Billy who has to deal with all sorts of bullshit on the streets. Especially if he's of the "I shouldn't become Captain Marvel for anything but the most morally correct of causes" because then he has to like. Pickpocket or steal food and run away from cops all the time.
-
And now, for a reverse Uno card... What are YOUR favorite Billy headcanons? Who's your favorite CM supporting character?
