If you really believe Shen Jiu is a poor lil mew mew but Yu Ziyuan is evil, you’re a hypocrite. SVSSS portrays Shen Jiu a lot more favorably than MDZS portrays Yu Ziyuan, which is in part bc of who the narrator is (Yu Ziyuan hurt WWX but Shen Jiu is reflected by and contrasts Shen Yuan) and their role in the story, in part bc MXTX seems to prefer writing men and mlm ships than writing women (her women are actually also well thought out IMO, she just seems to abandon them for men; makes sense it’s danmei).

Seriously, Shen Jiu did worse crimes than Yu Ziyuan, but their motivations are pretty similar, that is they dread abandonment and losing the position that guarantees their safety. I think Yu Ziyuan is an interesting character because of how her character reacts to the her role as a woman within the story: despite being powerful badass fighter, she’s still affected by how women are discriminated against. P nuanced. Neither of them should be allowed near children until they get therapy though.

Also completely valid to hate Yu Ziyuan and like Shen Jiu, as long as you’re aware that liking a character doesn’t mean that they’re morally good, nor that disliking one means they’re morally bad. Also fine to use an OOC completely evil Yu Ziyuan in a fic for your plot purposes (or whatever), though it gives me a pretty big ick when people make the few women in a danmei story evil and jealous so that they can make the men poor lil mew mews (looking at you, Qi Qingqi haters; why tf does she crush like a middle schooler on Yue Qingyuan?? Completely reasonable to keep the girls under her care away from a known predator, even though it was a false rumor).

Also I haven’t watched more than an episode of the untamed, it’s not cannon compliant and I refuse to count it as the same story; idc about Untamed!Yu Ziyuan.

I think I ended up making a few extra takes in this post bc I’m a ranter… tehee.

If you tell people they can't ship something...you don't belong in fandom space

With the new Hunger Games out and about, many people are RAGGING on Hayffie shippers because "it's not cannon and never will be" and "HayDove for life"

I don't give TWO fucks what you think about my sweet baby angels...I will support Hayffie till I die because even though Suzanne took my heart, threw it at me, laughed, then went about her merry way...I LOVE HAYFFIE.

Sure the book made it a little creepy...and I feel backtracked on some things, but it is a ship that people ship. Movie Hayffie is very different from book Hayffie, but that is besides the point.

Let people ship what they want. No one owes you your ship.

Such as, I will rag on Dragone Age people who ship SolRook (I have the tag blocked cause I don't wanna see it) because I love Solavellan, but I would never begrudge someone for shipping SolRook or tell them they aren't allowed because "ITS NOT CANON"...I will just ask you to reconsider. Fandom spaces are a place where people can explore creatively and ship characters that bring comfort.

If you don't like it, don't engage. Don't ruin other people's joy because you don't know how to fandom.

Now if you are not a shitty ass HayDove shipper, I love you. Ship your ship, and let that flag fly. But if you are, and you are going to tell me my ship is stupid because "its not cannon compliant anymore" GET FUCKING BENT. Go cry on TikTok like all the other fucking losers.

Fandom spaces don't have to be canon; that is the glory of fandom. We get to do what we want with the material we have.

ok, I've been seeing a lot of things being said from bucktommy fans about not watching 911 anymore or attacking Oliver especially after 08x06 came out. and honestly, genuinely bucktommy fans, I'm sorry. look, it sucks to see your ship break up regardless of what ship it is, it'll hurt, but c'mon, are you guys gonna give up so easily like that? I've seen someone say they're gonna stop writing their bucktommy fic, why?? how do you think buddie stans have lived this long, there's been no confirmation about buddie cannon, then or now, but they still persist? how do you think destiel fans still live on, even AFTER the show has ended, do you think they just disappear?or johnlock? or merthur? or heck even caitvi? or jayvik? the answer is fanfiction, fanart, playlists, tiktoks, heck even youtube compilations! and hey don't attack the actors, don't even attack the writers. point is: don't give up on your ship even if it's not cannon, don't stop writing fics of your favorite pairings, don't stop making art. look to fix it aus, non canon compliant aus, keep looking bucktommy fans, idk why you let a show stop you.

TLDR; don't stop enjoying your ship even when it's gone. if you're enjoying it and it's not hurting you or anybody else, why should you stop?

The wind carried the cool summer night air through the open lounge window, making the curtains dance softly and sending a chill through your body. Pulling the blanket wrapped around you tighter, you remain at the windowsill, waiting. 

Not desperately- you weren't waiting in vain, but still sunset had come and gone and there you were idly, still; watching for a sign of your patron in the empty grounds of the Laurent estate.

Inside, the halls are silent. Gilded, polished, and completely still. You think, morbidly, that it resembles a mausoleum- built to host decadent parties and vapid nobles: showy grandeur with no substance except the shallow social alliances so easily forged and broken. How fickle. You’ve gotten used to it— learned to treat it like a stage. By now you knew your part well: the beautifully dressed, dutiful daughter of a high ranking MP. A diplomatic pawn pretty enough to be noticed by the spoiled officials and noblemen; charming enough to be remembered; sweet enough to be non-threatening.

Moments like these- real moments you treasured. 

And yet, the knock at the door interrupting the silence isn't unwanted.  

Rising from your post by the window, you grin.

You open the door and as expected are face to face with Jean Kirstein—hood up, brow furrowed, dirt still clinging to the cuff of his jacket.

“You came here right after today’s expedition?” you ask, tilting your head like you don’t already know the answer.

Jean sighed. “Don’t think it was a deliberate choice, it was that, or being even more late- there were complications.”

“Another ship from Marley? And here I thought you were just desperate to see me.”

He let out a quiet, knowing huff. “You’re impossible.”

“Yet here you are.”

You step back. Wordlessly, he enters.

The estate’s guest salon was rarely used. Too intimate and private for Lord Lauret’s tastes. Which made it perfect for this private meeting in his own home.

You hand Jean a cloth, he takes it and scrubs at the side of his jaw absently, watching from the corner of his eye as you light a lamp.

“I saw you at the last capital debrief” you start, settling onto the couch with deliberate elegance. “From across the room you looked well for someone on the front lines.”

Jean dropped into the chair opposite her, rolling his neck. “If you can call it that, it's not really a fair fight for the Marleyan ships when we have a titan ambush them.”

“I know you saw me too,” you say, voice light, but gaze steady. “I was hoping to catch you alone, but that proved difficult as always.”

“Forgive me for not making myself available to you, but I didn’t think you would appreciate the suspicion from being seen publicly.”

A grim smile crosses your face, “No, you were right, but it would’ve been nice.” 

You’d been playing this game for a little over a year now. Begging your father to take you with him on his visits to the Survey Corp headquarters; stealing glances from across meeting rooms; conversations disguised as polite exchanges—offering directions neither of you needed, lingering under flimsy excuses, hearts fluttering with the thrill of the quiet rebellion. You could afford to be more obvious back then. Back when all of paradis was hopeful with the eradication of the titans and too busy worrying about the threatening outside world to notice two lovesick teenagers. 

Now, things were different.

Now, Jean was... what was he now? A leader. A soldier. A man who had seen too many people die to believe in luxuries like timing or safety.

And you? You, the well-dressed daughter of a military official—valuable enough to protect, watched too closely to love freely.

Still, he was here. Dust and all. 

The light of the lamp cast a shadow on his face, making him look somehow more intimidating, a strange contrast to his boyish awkwardly long hair. 

“You look tired,” you say softly. What you mean is: are you tired of this?

He didn’t respond right away.

Meeting your eyes cautiously, “I am, but I wouldn’t be here if I didn’t want to be” he muttered.

“Then how come you pretend you don’t?”

You rise slowly. Crossing the distance between the two of you, fingers brushing his hand before sitting on the armrest of his chair. Jean didn’t move.

“Don’t—”

“You kissed me last time,” you say, smiling slyly. “Don’t act shy now.”

“I’m not shy,” he grumbles, clearly flustered. “I’m serious. If someone saw me—”

“Hitch let you in and no one else knows you’re here,” you reassure sweetly. “Times like these are so rare, it’s best to take advantage.”

He turns, your faces inches apart and his conviction slipping.

“I know that… better than most,” his face slightly flushed.

His eyebrows are raised and eyes intense, giving you a full view of the conflict going on within his own head.

You tilt your head, affectionately studying his expression and bringing up a hand to cup his face.

He places his hand over yours, meeting your eyes.

“Come on,” you pull back to stand up, “I’ll make sure the guards are gone-”

He kisses you then.

It’s messy and awkward- unplanned and real. You return the kiss, arms wrapping around his neck and pulling you closer.

He pulls back. 

“We’re going to get caught someday,” he whispered.

“I don’t care, do you?”

“Not enough to stop.”

What Is This?

This is a side blog for my Batman Au entitled Sins Of The Father as the name and tagline might suggest. For right now it is a way to motivate myself through sharing snippets and lore as well post links to the updates when they come.

What Is The Au About?

Sins Of The Father will hopefully be a Jason Todd and Damian Wayne-centric long fic. This fic is my personal take on the Jason Todd and Damian Wayne meet in the League tag on Ao3. Although it borrows some tropes and dynamics I wanted to hone in on the idea of what would happen if Jason was the one the bring him to Gotham instead of Talia. Not only looking into how this would effect the Under The Red Hood plotline but also their relationship with Bruce as the name might give away.

Note: I will post a more informative and concise blurb soon I just wanted to to lay the bare frame work out.

Why Was This Au Made?

This Au was born out of my frustration at Jasons revival and Damians introduction not only being so close to together but the fact both of their shared backstory threads never being interconnected. It’s almost always glossed over except for an extra ending in Death In The Family & Young Justice very briefly. Correct me if I am wrong and there's more I don't know about.

Regardless I feel that is missing out on such a good story opportunity but I digress. Hence this whole Au things may have gotten out of hand a touch.

( Also yes I know the title of the Au comes from A Batman & Robin Adventures episode I named it before I remembered where it had been last used.)

What Continuity Is This In?

I am sad to disappoint the animated Batfans as well as those who enjoy the comics but this is taking place in my own version of the universe. Somethings will be taken from those versions of the plot or character but I wanted the freedom to both write the plot I wanted and reinterpret characters if needed.

Now please do be warned this could be a bit ooc at times but comic cannons is like a slinkie falling down stairs into play doh anything can happen and I want to build something. So sit back and relax as this isn't a official comic but Ao3 & Tumblr where cannon goes to die. Lets have fun!

What Will This Be Posted On & What Is The Rating?

Sins Of The Father will be posted on Ao3 and I will share the link when updates are posted. For now there is none yet as I am still writing the first few chapters. I do plan to update once I am done writing them so they might be a bit spotty.

As for the rating I am planning on Teen. it does have some cannon compliant violence, dark themes/ moments and possible exploration of generational trauma.

Is This A Batcest Thing?

No, there is no shipping between any of the brothers with the only ships that play out being things like Barba X Dick and the like. I really wanted to focus on the family bonds such as Jason being a semi but not really Father figure to Damian.

Will The Outlaws Or Extended Batfamily Show Up?

Sadly this is a second no as I don't know enough about them nor really have any plot points for them as of now. The cast consists of The Al ghuls/ a handfull of The League related characters plus the core Gotham or Batfam characters. ( I.e Alfred Jim, Bruce, Babs, Dick, Jason, Tim & Damian) as well as a few rouges.

I have an idea to write a supernatural fic (i know its 2025 fricken sue me) inspired by Epic. Some wild found family shit with def some Sabriel and Destiel thrown in there. Ofc just barely cannon compliant to make the story line and ships work.

Basic outline, Sam and Dean end up having to take in a girl (around 11) when her family dies and shes left with instructions to call John of all people. Oops tho they didnt get the message that his dead and she gets Sam and Dean instead. Already been raised by hunters and thus knowing WAY too much about the supernatural (great parenting choices made all around IM LOOKIN AT YOU JOHN), the boys take her in. We get some found family with Sam and Dean basically trying to do things better than their dad. "No, you cant come with us. NOT because you arent capable, youre plenty that, but youre a kid. So for once, be a kid." and stuff like that. I see Sam becoming more of a parental figure to her because of how he views his childhood compared to Dean. With Dean still in his "our childhood was pretty great, dad did his best" mentality, I see him slowly come to realize that giving a kid a GUN when they are scared of their closet was not a great choice.

Cas is there of course and Gabe comes back not long after faking his death in season 5 (I NEED MY SHIPS). The boys are able to get Sam back from Hell with the help of our fave archangel turned trickster.

The angels and demons are PISSED about their plans and figure that they need to separate this little found family. Dean and Cas are left alone at Bobby's to try and figure this all out and Gabriel is captured and taken to Asmodeus (I need his headquarters to be somewhere on earth with a connection to hell. this will make sense later). The angels take the kid and place her in a random ass town middle of no where and in the foster system, with only an Angel (im thinkin Anna cause canon does not exist here) keeping guard to make sure she cant leave and cant contact anyone.

Sam, cause hes sam and cant catch a break, goes on what he thinks is a normal salt-and-burn on his own but ends up being stopped by some supernatural being whenever he tries to go home. HE IS OUR ODYSSEUS. Lucifer is Posideon in this case, and wants him to feed into the "monster" within him so he'll say yes again and finally take over. Sam is constantly beat down, losing every person he comes into contact with on his journey, and becoming the "monster" or hunter in this case, that John was always trying to get him to be. He just wants to get home to his family.

The girl, on the other hand, is stuck with no way home and just wants to be with her family again. She wants to be just like Sam and Dean and decides so start doing research and helping out in this middle of no where town when crazy supernatural stuff does happen. She was raised by hunters and then our favorite boys after all so she has a good idea of what to do but cant actually ask anyone for help. SHE IS OUR TELEMACHUS.

They are all separated from each other for about 3 years.

She eventually finds that Anna has a bit of a soft spot left from when she used to be human and creates the opening to Asmodeus's for the kid to find. She stubbles in there and finds who? her basically step-dad, Gabriel! She steals him away and finds some of his grace to take back with her. He starts to get better but then the kid is taken. Gabriel is strong enough now to send a message to Cas. Anna thinks they all have been punished for too long.

Sam finally beats the shit outta lucifer and makes his way to bobby's just as Cas finds out that Gabriel and the kid are alive and in the same place. Our trio runs to this backwater town and heads down to Asmodeus's. The suitors are the Demons there and Sam is in a fuckin RAGE. They not only kidnapped and tortured his boyfriend for the last three years (much longer for Gabriel) but now they have his kid. Two of the people hes been fighting so hard to get back to. Sam (with help from Dean and Cas) fight off the demons and find the kid. On the way out they find Asmodeus and hes PISSED. At the last moment, Gabriel comes in full archangel and smites the bastard.

And of course we end on reunions all around (think "I cant help but wonder") and a supernatural rendition of "would you fall in love with me again" between Sam and Gabriel (cause HE IS OUR PENELOPE). Sam feels like hes changed, hes not the same person he was when he left. Hes done horrible things, killed so many creatures, allowed so many to die, just so he can go home. He wants to be with his family but knows that he might never be able to be Sam again. Gabriel has been under Asmodeus' watch for years, his grace diminished, waiting for someone to come and find him. He hoped it would be his family, his Sam. And now that he's got Sam back? Hes never letting go again. He'll fall in love with Sam over and over again because he may have changed but his soul didnt. And damn if Gabriel hadnt been waiting.

So thats my idea..........sorry this is long but anyone like?

Yall I enjoy this ship pretty much only in AUs because I feel like Nya and Jay's relationship in cannon is so ingrained in the show that if they broke up in the cannon timeline after they like officially got together so much shit would go down and it would be one hell of a mess I think it could be solved but ngl I've never found something cannon compliant that scratched that itch (If yall have recs I will greet them with open arms like I'm goddamn Polities). But in AU's and complete world overhauls SIGN ME UP! Royal AU, alien AU, pirates, cowboys, world-swaps, crossovers, pretty much anything I am down to at least TRY.

Unfortunately there isn't really much content for them where they're not just background props for things (fics, fanart, ect) of the guys, or just pure smut, but that's why I have hands I suppose. I respect people who enjoy that kind of stuff, but I personally love a good comfy little slow burn ya know, I wanna be ripping my hair out and cursing at my phone 11 chapters in you feel me? I'm working on some ideas, none are finished nor have even a full chapter written but trust they will be put forth at some point I promise you that lol!
