As soon as Lance got off the plane, he checked his phone and smiled at the name on his screen. Nando.
"You are free tonight?"
"Yep," Lance quickly typed, coming to a standstill in the middle of the airport.
"Dress pretty, I'll come at 5." The Canadian nodded to himself and wheeled his suitcase out to the car his dad had sent for him.
Over the past week, Lance had finally come out to his father. He was scared of how his dad would react, but Lawrence had simply hugged him and apologized for the hurtful things he said. Lance had cried, feeling both embarrassed and relieved. This time, his dad didn't call him a queer for his long hair, (but he did ask if that's why he was growing it out, like a mating call.)
Back at the hotel, Lance anxiously checked the time as he lay on his stomach on the bed. He'd been dressed for two hours already, and there were still 20 minutes until 5. Sharing the room with Nico meant Nico had to endure Lance's constant whining and complaining as he waited.
"Bubu," Nico started, Lance looking over at him before he continued "Shut up."
"You're so rude." Lance groaned again, slamming his face into the pillow in his arms "If you were waiting for Lewis you'd be impatient too." He mumbled into the pillow
As soon as Fernando picked Lance up, his face was lit with a broad smile. "You clean up well," he teased, leaning in to give Lance a quick kiss on the cheek.
Lance blushed, his heart racing. "Thanks. You look great."
In the car, they talked easily, their hands occasionally brushing against each other.
Fernando's thumb gently stroked the back of Lance's hand, sending shivers down his spine. Even though they'd been together for months at this point Lance still felt like he had an embarrassing highschool crush.
They arrived at a cozy Italian restaurant, a favorite of Fernando's, with dim lighting and an intimate atmosphere.
The host led them to a quiet corner table, where they settled in. Fernando reached across the table and took Lance's hand. "I've been looking forward to this all day," he admitted, his eyes softening as he gazed at Lance.
"Me too," Lance replied, squeezing his hand. "It feels good to be here with you. I missed you"
When the waiter arrived, Fernando confidently ordered for both of them. "We'll start with the bruschetta and caprese salad, and for the main course, the seafood risotto and the truffle gnocchi."
Lance smiled, appreciating his decisiveness, knowing that he would've stared at the menu helplessly if he had to order for himself. "You really know your way around a menu," he laughed, remembering how Fernando had talked about this place before.
Fernando hummed. "Is not too hard, I know what you like."
As they waited for their food, the conversation naturally shifted to the upcoming Grand Prix.
"Are you ready for the race?" Fernando asked, his eyes meeting Lance's in the warmly lit resteraunt, it wasn't too busy so there was no reason for them to pretend this wasn't a date.
"Definitely," Lance replied. "The team's been working hard on the car, and Nico's been great. What about you and Giancarlo?"
Fernando nodded, a playful grin on his lips at the thought of his close friend and teammate. "We've been pushing Renault to the limits, am convinced the engineers are tired of both of us. The circuit is hard, but always a fun one."
Lance leaned in, eyes lidded slightly as he smiled at his boyfriend, laughing at his own anxiousness. "I'm worried."
Fernando laughed too, the sound warm and reassuring. "You’ll get it. Just trust yourself."
Their appetizers arrived, and they shared bites of bruschetta and caprese salad, playfully feeding each other small bites and laughing at the mess they made. The conversation flowed from racing to personal stories, with Lance sharing funny anecdotes about his childhood and Fernando recounting his early days in racing, really whatever they could think of that the other didn't know.
When the main courses arrived, they dug into the rich flavours, occasionally stealing bites from each other's plates.
Fernando brushed a strand of hair away from Lance's face, his touch lingering. "You have no idea how happy I am right now, Mi sol." he said softly.
Lance smiled, his heart swelling with affection. "Me too. I missed you."
As the evening went on, their hands found each other across the table, fingers intertwined. They talked about their hopes for the future they wanted together, their fears, anything and everything that came to mind. Fernando's support and understanding made Lance feel more confident and secure, ready for the weekend ahead.
When they finally left the restaurant, the night air was cool, and Fernando wrapped his arm around Lance's shoulders, pulling him close. "You'll do great, Lance. Just remember why you love it."
Lance smiled, feeling a warmth in his chest. "Thanks, Nando. I needed that."
Back in the car, they drove back to the hotel, the city lights reflecting in their eyes. Fernando parked and turned to Lance, his expression serious but tender. "I believe in you, Lance. Both on and off the track."
Lance leaned in and kissed him, a slow, lingering kiss that conveyed all the feelings words couldn't express. "I love you," he whispered.
Fernando smiled, his eyes sparkling with emotion. "I love you too, Mi vida."
The Suzuka Circuit was buzzing with anticipation as the weekend kicked off. Qualifying had been a mixed affair for the drivers. Fernando was barely leading the championship and only managed to secure 5th on the grid. Lance had managed to place 11th, earlier in the season he would've celebrated but 11th was embarrassing in a race-winning car.
The lights went out, and away they went. Fernando had a great start, quickly moving up to 3rd by the end of the first lap. His driving was precise and aggressive, every move perfect.
Lance, starting from the middle, was determined to score points for Racing Point again. By lap 10, he had already made his way up to 8th, maneuvering through the field with newfound confidence and determination to not let down his team. Nico was battling just behind him, holding his own and supporting the team's efforts.
Renault'a strategy came into play as the race progressed. He timed his pit stops perfectly, managing to leapfrog his rivals and move into 2nd place. With ten laps to go, he managed an overtake for the lead, cementing his position at the front. From there, he maintained a relentless pace, never giving his competitors a chance to catch up.
Lance, meanwhile, continued to impress. By the final laps, he had climbed to 6th place, a remarkable feat given his starting position and the teams results earlier in the season.
As the chequered flag waved, Fernando crossed the finish line first, securing a vital win and extending his lead in the championship. The crowd erupted in applause, celebrating his drive as they alwaya did. Lance finished in 6th, an excellent result that underscored his growing potential.
The podium ceremony was a blur of cheers and champagne. Fernando stood tall on the top step, the Spanish anthem playing as he raised the trophy high. Lance watched from the sidelines, his heart swelling with pride and admiration for his boyfriend. He couldn't wait to see his lover on the top step a hundred more times.
After the ceremony, Fernando made his way through the throngs of well-wishers to find Lance. Their eyes met, and a smile spread across Fernando’s face. Lance stepped forward, not hesitating before embracing him tightly.
"You were incredible out there," Lance murmured, his voice distorted in the fabric of the Spaniards fireproofs.
Fernando pulled back slightly, looking into Lance’s eyes. "You too, Lancito. Sixth place is amazing. Getting better every weekend."
Nico eventually joined them, a satisfied grin on his face. He had finished 9th, a solid result, but his thoughts seemed to be elsewhere. Lance caught him glancing towards the paddock entrance where Lewis Hamilton, still in GP2, was standing. There had been whispers about Nico and Lewis, and it seemed those rumors were grounded in truth.
As the evening wore on, the celebrations moved to the Renault hospitality area. Fernando and Lance found a quieter corner, away from the people still in blue and yellow.
"Every race, I see more of your potential," Fernando said softly, his hand brushing Lance's as he continued to praise him.
Lance smiled, leaning into Fernando's touch. "I only drive fast because the sooner I'm done the sooner I can see you," He laughed, embarrassed at his own confession
Their connection was undeniable, even those convinced it was purely platonic couldn't deny the connection between the two polar opposite drivers. In that moment, surrounded by the hum of celebration, they found a moment of peace and intimacy.
"To many more victories," Lance whispered, his voice full of promise.
Fernando smiled, pulling Lance closer. "Together"

It came out amazing. I swapped the worcestershire sauce with soy sauce since riduur is allergic to seafood. 10/10 will make again. It is comforting. Great fall dish!

A Sky Full of Sun - 3
Kristanna Modern au Rated: M WC: 1619
Chapter Index
--------------------
After the sun set, Kristoff asked Anna if she wanted that beer, and they sat in the Palapa Bar while the last of the colour drained from the sky.  They talked a bit to the staff and Anna impressed him with her basic grasp of Spanish.  She had ordered for them and he had to admit, the language sounded wonderful in her voice.
After the first sip of the crisp and cold beer, Kristoff realized it was going to go down quickly. Was there any better taste than a cold beer on a hot day?  And on vacation no less.   He was finishing his second as Anna took the last swig of her first.
“So, you want to maybe go grab a bite with me?” she asked, instead of ordering another beer.  “Or if you’d rather part ways, that’s cool.”
“No, we can go together, sure.  I have no idea what’s around here.”
“I looked up a few places before we came but we can just walk around and find a place.  Most of the reviews are good and a travel blogger said if the place is busy, it’s likely a good spot.”
“Sounds good to me.”
They grabbed their things from the lounge chairs and headed up to the condo to change.  Kristoff pulled on shorts and a t-shirt and went out to the main area to wait for Anna.  He was leaning on the glass railing, looking up at the night sky and all the stars – ones you just don’t see when you live in a sprawling city – when she came behind him and told him she was ready.  He turned around and tried hard not to gawk at her.
She’d pulled her damp hair into an updo and was wearing a knee length white cotton dress which she looked absolutely radiant in.
“You ready?”
“You bet,” Kristoff answered, eyes passing the length of her as she turned around to head to the door. She was gorgeous, he couldn’t help himself.
They walked across the main streets and into the town.  There were plenty of waiters waiting at the edge of the restaurants, enticing them to come in and sit down, but they walked on a bit, wanting to see what else there was. They settled on an open-aired place called Darlene’s that was owned by a Canadian who’d moved down to Ixtapa fourteen years prior.
“I told myself I was going to order nothing but seafood since were on the ocean,” Anna said, as she looked over the menu.  “But there’s chicken cordon bleu and I just love that so much.  I’ll bet it’s good.”
Kristoff agreed it probably was and decided to order it too.  They were not disappointed, it was fabulous.  Paired with a couple more Dos Equis, it was the best meal Kristoff had in a very long time, and he felt it had a lot to do with the company as well as the food and drink.
Perhaps it was the beers, or the fact that it wasn’t what he expected when he heard Sven wasn’t going to be there at first, but Kristoff was enjoying the hell out of himself.  Anna was easy to be around, and he had a feeling that the next two weeks were going to be amazing.
*******
Anna laid in bed a long time unable to sleep.  She was exhausted from getting up early and getting to the airport and the plane ride and swimming and walking around town, before and after dinner, however, she could not find sleep.
She could hear music coming from somewhere but it didn’t bother her.  Her mind was consumed with the thoughts of what could be.
Kristoff was like a breath of fresh air.  He was so unassuming.  He was polite and respectful and insisted on paying for dinner since she had paid for the cab, even though dinner was twice as expensive.  He held so firmly on that in such a wonderfully gentile way that Anna felt a fluttery all over.
They stopped at a Tequila place after dinner and when they got back to the condo they sipped on some coffee-flavoured liqueur, sitting on the balcony and looking out at the night sky over the ocean.  It had only been about seven hours since the plane landed, and they had been some of the most enjoyable of Anna’s life as of late.
She imagined staying in touch with Kristoff after they got back.  She knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that she wanted to be friends with him, only part of her wanted to be more than that.  Anna wondered what his lips would feel like against her own and she finally found a peaceful sleep dreaming about soft sweet kisses.
*******
Kristoff was wide awake. There was a night club or something that was playing incredibly loud dance music, and while it was on the other side of the condo, he could hear it as clear as day.  He hoped it was because it was Saturday night and not something that was going to happen every evening.
Unable to sleep, he found his mind thinking over the day.  The unease he’d felt that morning to learn that Sven and Liz would not be joining them right away, felt like a distant memory.  And he truly was delighted by Anna offering him to sit with her on the plane.  That had been very nice of her, although, like she said, better him than a stranger, even though technically he was still a stranger at the beginning of that flight.
They certainly weren’t strangers now.  Throughout dinner and drinks on the balcony before bed, they talked about themselves and their lives, and Kristoff found delight in learning more about her.   As vehement as he’d been about not letting Sven try and set him up with women anymore, it didn’t necessarily seem like such a bad situation they found themselves in, or rather, that he found himself in.  Anna was wonderful.
Kristoff rolled over and grabbed the other pillow and put it on his head.  He was dead tired, and he eventually ignored the music and drifted off into dreamland, his last thoughts being one’s of bright blue eyes and a dazzling smile.
-------
Kristoff woke early despite not getting much sleep.  Feeling a lot of pent-up energy, he decided to check out the little gym he saw in the courtyard when they had arrived.  It was a circular building with glass walls and AC, which was nice given the fact that he was still trying to get used to the humidity.
He had half a mind to leave a note for Anna, except he had no idea where to find paper and looking in a few cabinets he only found books and board games.  Not really wanting to snoop too hard amongst the condo owner’s things, he gave up and decided to just do a quick twenty minutes on the treadmill and lift some weights.
By the time he was done, he was a little embarrassed with himself to realize that he was rushing back upstairs, but Anna didn’t appear to be awake as her door was still shut. Either that or she had already left upon finding the condo empty.  Kristoff went outside and looked down to the pools, but he couldn’t see her down there. There wasn’t much activity at all yet in fact.
Wandering into the tiny kitchen he found some coffee in the freezer and made a pot.  He was leaning over the sink, looking out the window towards town, when he heard her behind him.
“Oh, is that coffee I smell? Bless you, dear sir.”
Kristoff chuckled and turned around.  Anna was in pyjama shorts and a tank top and he was absolutely helpless to notice that she wasn’t wearing a bra.
“What are we doing for breakfast?” she asked, opening kitchen cupboards and looking inside. “Unless, you know, you want to do your own thing, no problem.”
“Doesn’t matter too much to me,” Kristoff answered, watching as she found coffee mugs and pulled two of them off the shelf and set by the brewing coffee maker.  It really didn’t matter to him.  He was discovering that a lot seemed to not matter as much when he was with her.  So far, he was happy to go along with whatever she wanted to do.
“Let’s just grab a bite in the Palapa, then I was thinking we could gran a cab to Zihuatanejo and stock up on some groceries.  Liz texted me this morning, that’s what woke me up actually, and they booked the Wednesday flight down.  I thought it would be nice to make a couple meals here since I just know those two are going to want to go out every night.”
“Sure, that sounds like a great idea,” he said, chiding himself for not texting Sven yet to see how he was doing.  Truth be told, he pretty much forgot about his best friend.
“Great!  We’ll get that all done and then we can swim the afternoon away.”  She smiled then it faltered and she added, “Unless you have other plans.  Just let me know if I’m being kind of pushy.”
Kristoff did not want her to get the wrong impression of him about this stuff.  “No honestly, that all sounds good for today.  Trust me, if I don’t feel like doing something, I will tell you.”
Why did that feel like a lie?  It wasn’t, but then again, if she asked him to go to the beach, even though he didn’t care for the beach because he hated sand, he was pretty sure he would go.

Anika!
What's it like living in [undisclosed location here]? Like, what's the food like, what's something you do that you know people from other places usually wouldn't? And as always, if you're not cool with this ask, don't worry about it :]
Hello!! Im from Nova Scotia, which is the 2nd smallest Canadian province that's sat on the east coast. The food here is pretty standard North American food, like an example of a Classic Homemade Meal in my family would be like soup and biscuits or a roast w mashed potatos, yknow? Living on a peninsula we do have quite a bit of seafood, but that's less of a regular meal thing and more like "if you saw this in a restaurant it'd be way cheaper than the same meal somewhere else", yknow? This is a regular thing to see in the summer
Tumblr media
We also have loads of blueberries here (the itty bitty wild ones, not the big high bush berries)
One thing I think is pretty special is that I can just like. Go see the ocean. It'd take less than half an hour to get to the nearest port (Halifax Harbour, one of the biggest ports this side of the Atlantic). One really banger spot and popular tourist location is Peggy's Cove, which is less than an hour away. It's known for weird rocks and massive waves and a big lighthouse (calmer day below)
Tumblr media
Another interesting thing is that this province is 75% forest! The only province with a higher forest percentage is New Brunswick with 80%, which is at least partly bc they're a bigger province with a smaller population. Even Halifax, the biggest city east of Québec, is both filled with trees and surrounded by forest. The downside is that it's all hills.
Final fun fact is that in 1917 there was a Big Fucking Explosion that completely leveled Halifax and so we'd do a school project on it every year. One of the many reasons this city is L'Manberg coded

Now I want to know about Riptide's second family situation, I'm curious! And also abt The Squid Accident (if you want to share of course!)
Ok so as I have said all of this is massively not canon compliant, basically two friends and I looked at the game and its world and went great sandbox we're gonna build castles and that's what we did. I'm gonna put this under a read more because the second family and the squid incident are very much part and parcel with each other and take a bit to explain. Warning for me rambling and run on sentences. Also I'm sorry this ended up so so long, and I cut so much out.
Right so I'll start with the second family and this is mostly the brain child of my friend Jumil I don't recall if he has a tumblr and if he does he hasn't used it in like a decade so no point linking to that.
So the Bernards before magic and everything were a normal fishing family from Newfoundland, aka poor and struggling. Then magic came back and the lady who will forever now be called Grandma (or Grandmother or Mémère because they're Acadian) awakened into a shaman. A jellyfish shaman to be specific and that turned out to just be a weird quirk of the Bernard family is they're more likely to have shamans, be fish shamans, and Jellyfish specifically.
I'm gonna cut out a lot of stuff that I can elaborate on if you wanna ask again but basically they used the weird jellyfish magic and some secret blood magic to basically become ocean amazon. Like they can make being on and in the ocean a lot safer and they have crazy fish farms so they just started supplying the world with all ocean based products and became a megacorp off fish and shipping and ocean based warfare. We called this megacorp Tidal Moon because the eastern Canadian maritimes have a shit ton of moon jellyfish.
Now how Riptide got involved with them is when she got out of prison she was very feral and knew she couldn't go home that way with how fucked up mentally she was so she ran to the east coast but ran out of money around Ottawa.
She ended up accidentally saving Fry Bernard (my friend Jumils character that he decided he didn't want to be a seattle) from being kidnapped mostly because they were in the way of her dumpster diving from a fancy seafood restaurants garbage.
Fry is the black sheep of the Bernard family because he somehow awakened into a mushroom shaman and no one understands how or why because mushrooms? Those aren't animals? But also not plants? How did you do this Fry? and he doesn't know, he just shrugs he also has no interest in the family bussiness but he's very interested in his own bussiness of growing and experimenting with mushrooms.
He chose Ottawa to live in because it's a smaller city but primarily because it has a mushroom festival and there's a lot of mushrooms that grow in the area. The mushroom festival was the biggest deciding factor I'm not even kidding you.
So his family is like hey thanks for saving him, do you wanna work for us as his full time bodyguard? We see that you're a convict but it's fine we'll just put some extra special magics on you to make sure you can't betray him and she's all I mean I guess I need somewhere to live and money to support myself while I get my shit together so that's how she ends up living with Fry.
While doing this she calms down because they also pay for therapy for her and she decides hey I need to get my shit together so I can go home to my family as someone they would be proud of. This is when she decides to go back to school and get her degree in anthropology. I probably should have mentioned before that I had her be in jail for 4 years.
Fast forward 2 years of her living and working with Fry and they're great friends because she doesn't judge him badly for his mushroom powers in fact she finds them fascinating and often encourages some of his weirder experiments. Plus she finds out she loves gardening and she helps him with his mushroom farming. Also just by virture of her being there other fairy creatures tend to come over to see what's going on including ones that like to help in fields and stuff so his mushrooms grow better now that she's there.
During that summer he gets called back to Newfoundland for a family gathering because Grandma likes her family to be close, they're kinda close kinda all backstabbing inner politics because of the riches and the company but also family first. Anyway Frys Uncle the first son of Grandma is all Fry it's time you come out on a boat and get a taste of what being a Bernard is truly all about and Fry is like oh god not this again, but Reina is all this sounds great can I come too? I'm researching shanties as my main focus of study so actually being on a fishing boat would be great for my understanding and the uncle is like great you can come too. This will prove to be the most mixed of blessings for all three of them.
So on the fishing boat Fry is sulking and Reina is basically doing all the work for him. This includes when she reaches out with her left arm to pull in a net, and gets grabbed by an awakened giant vampire squid. I say giant because normally they're like 27 centimeters. This vampire squid was a squid one of Frys cousins had been magically experimenting on to use to assassinate the uncle they went fishing with in a power grab attempt. The squid however saw the delicious tasty selkie on the ship and went fuck your plans I want to eat that one.
Reina gets grabbed and pulled under water by this thing while Fry and his uncle are like Oh Shit! The uncle goes to call for help and backup and Fry runs to the side and looks down and well can't see shit because lots of bubbles, waves, and blood in the water. Reina is underwater and she's struggling to fight this thing because it's huge, it's got magic, and she's in the wrong body shape.
Fry is in full panic mode seeing all the blood in the water so he decides he has to do something so he gets a knife and decides to cast some fun blood magic. We decided to leave it mostly blank for what he did because he was never trained with blood magic he just sort of went on instict so what we decided happened was he bond all three bloods together and started circulating them through the three bodies to keep Reina from bleeding out into the ocean, which now means that Fry and Reina permanently have purple blood.
Reina manages to kill it but she is seriously fucked up from the fight and ends up passing out before getting to the surface so by the time they fish her out she's actually dead, one of those I was legally dead for 2 minute situations. They revive her but she ends up in a coma for 2 months.
She wakes up and finds out her left arm is missing huge chunks from where the vampire squid pulled her under and because of her weird selkie nature, Frys blood magic, and whatever the squid did they haven't been able to regrow or repair her arm so it's basically dead. And because she's a magic user and also fae she refuses to chop it off and get a cyber arm so instead the Bernards use their weird jellyfish magic to make her a mesh sleeve that has an external nervous system so she can continue to use her arm. This is why she has to do things like play the hand harp to work on her manual dexterity.
Because it was a family member trying to kill a family member, and because Reina and Fry now share the same blood with each other Reina was adopted into the Bernards while she was in the coma. Grandma decided that she would get the same rank in the family as the attempted murderer. She doesn't have that persons parents, she has a different one of Grandmas sons as her new father the most obnoxious shit starter of the family called Jean-Pierre who was sent to run the Hong Kong branch of Tidal Moon so he would stop starting fights with his siblings and their kids. Neither he nor Reina are happy about this.
So yeah, that's Reinas new second family, and the squid incident. Both supremely fucked up, but it comes with a lot of money and a lot of therapy so she only complains quietly. Mostly she got adopted because that way they could keep her quiet, keep access to her weird magic as hell blood for their magic experiments, and also partially as a reward and thanks for saving Fry and his Uncles lives.

Okay but the neighbouring restaurants:
Tumblr media
Victor's Seafood appears to be between two buildings though, so that's suspicious.
Tumblr media
And, thank god, they have a VHS Tape Rental Service:
Tumblr media
The reviews are all from after this post started going around so I assume it's silly folks on the internet but then the owner responses are also wild so now I'm wondering if you can just mark fake restaurants on an army base? (The other restaurants all seem to only have reviews going back four months, and, again, Victor's Seafood appears to be an empty area between two buildings. I'm fascinated by whatever is going on here.)
And just in case anyone is wondering what this place is (the general location) it's the Canadian Forces Station Alert (or CFS Alert) made for monitoring Russian airwaves in the 50s.

AUD/CAD Symmetrical Triangle: Master the Secret Trading Strategy The Secret Strategy for the Australian Dollar/Canadian Dollar Pair Imagine you're at a yard sale, eyeing that vintage lamp that looks just like the one in your grandmother's living room—it might be a hidden gem, or it could be just another dust collector. Trading the Australian Dollar/Canadian Dollar (AUD/CAD) symmetrical triangle is kind of like that—knowing when it's a potential breakout or just a false move can make all the difference. Today, we’re going deep into those advanced trading techniques that separate the pros from the hobbyists, with a particular focus on the elusive but powerful symmetrical triangle pattern. Why Symmetrical Triangles Matter in AUD/CAD The symmetrical triangle pattern isn’t just some pretty doodle on your chart—it’s a reflection of the market's indecision, a boiling pot ready to tip one way or the other. For the AUD/CAD pair, these triangles often form in response to complex market forces—think commodity prices like oil (Canada’s golden goose) versus raw materials (Australia’s pride and joy). This duality creates a unique environment that makes symmetrical triangles not just useful, but downright essential for predicting where the market's about to pop. But here’s where things get spicy: Unlike simpler pairs, AUD/CAD responds to commodities on both ends, making symmetrical triangles extra juicy indicators of potential volatility. The key is to recognize whether the upcoming breakout is a credible one, or just another "oops, wrong button" scenario—like accidentally hitting "sell" when you meant to click "buy" (yeah, we've all been there, no judgment). How to Spot the Symmetrical Triangle in AUD/CAD Patience is a Virtue—Wait for the Tightening This is where the symmetrical triangle can be a real test of patience. The price action begins to consolidate, forming higher lows and lower highs, until the price is squeezed tighter than a lemon at a seafood restaurant. The trick here? Keep your eyes peeled for volume—it should start to drop as the price tightens. When volume falls, it’s the market's way of whispering, "Get ready, something big is coming." Breakout… But Confirm First Here’s where most traders get it wrong—they see the first breakout and jump in like it’s a Black Friday sale. Reality check: the first move out of a symmetrical triangle can often be a false one. The pros know to wait for confirmation—like a retest of the breakout level or a strong candle close beyond the boundary. Think of it like testing the waters before diving in; nobody wants to be the person belly-flopping into an empty pool. Advanced Ninja Tactics for Trading AUD/CAD Symmetrical Triangles - Volume Divergence for Confirmation: This one is for the nerdy traders (and I mean that as a compliment). When price action breaks out, but volume doesn’t confirm it, it’s often a red flag. If you’re watching the AUD/CAD symmetrical triangle and see that breakout without volume increasing, consider staying on the sidelines. It’s like that moment when everyone cheers at a party, but you’re pretty sure nobody knows why they’re cheering. - Commodities Correlation Check: Before you throw your entire account balance at a symmetrical triangle breakout, take a peek at commodity prices. Are oil prices shooting up? Is gold on the move? Australia and Canada are both major players in the commodities game, and significant shifts in raw material prices can be the early warning system that tells you which way the triangle might break. Why Most Traders Fail with Symmetrical Triangles Here’s the brutal truth: Most traders fail because they expect every symmetrical triangle to be a jackpot signal. It’s not. The trick is to treat the triangle as a signal that something is coming, not that it’s going to make you rich overnight. It's like seeing storm clouds—they’re telling you rain is coming, but they’re not telling you whether you’ll need an umbrella or a boat. For AUD/CAD, specifically, traders often overlook the impact of geopolitical factors. Remember, this pair is influenced not just by domestic economic data, but by things like global commodity demand and even trade tensions between other major countries. When you see a symmetrical triangle forming, do your homework on the broader macroeconomic environment. AUD/CAD in Action Let’s talk real life. Back in June 2023, the AUD/CAD pair formed a beautiful symmetrical triangle on the daily chart. Traders who just dove in without context got wiped out when a false breakout occurred, followed by a sharp reversal. The smart ones? They waited for confirmation and saw that the second breakout coincided with a rally in copper prices—a key Australian export. Those who were patient rode the trend for a cool 150 pips. Steps to Master the Symmetrical Triangle for AUD/CAD - Identify the Triangle: Start by drawing your trendlines—one for the higher lows, one for the lower highs. Watch as they converge. - Monitor Volume: As the triangle gets tighter, volume should decrease. Low volume means that the market is storing energy—like winding up a spring. - Look for the Breakout AND Confirmation: Don’t get caught in a fake move. Wait for a solid candle close or a retest. - Check the Commodity Landscape: Any major moves in commodities? This could be the clue that tips you off on where AUD/CAD is headed. The One Trick That Can Change Your Symmetrical Triangle Game Here’s an insider tip that most traders overlook: the importance of timeframes. Many traders stick to one timeframe—usually the 4-hour or daily—but if you’re seeing a symmetrical triangle on multiple timeframes, that’s like a cosmic alignment for traders. It means there’s more consensus in the market, and when the breakout happens, it’ll likely have more momentum. For example, if you spot a symmetrical triangle on both the 4-hour and daily chart, it’s time to pay attention—because what might look like a minor squeeze on the 4-hour could be the build-up for a huge move on the daily. Trading symmetrical triangles isn’t about chasing every breakout—it’s about understanding what’s behind those converging lines. For AUD/CAD, the name of the game is being patient, validating breakouts with volume and commodity trends, and waiting for confirmations like a seasoned pro. You wouldn’t buy that vintage lamp without checking it first for cracks, right? The same goes for triangles—inspect, analyze, and then (maybe) trade. —————– Image Credits: Cover image at the top is AI-generated Read the full article

Red Lobster Set to Emerge from Chapter 11 with a Leaner Footprint
Court Approves Sale to Fortress Investment Group-Led Consortium
Red Lobster, the beloved seafood dining chain, is poised to exit Chapter 11 bankruptcy with a significantly reduced footprint, yet will continue to operate over 500 locations. This move comes after receiving U.S. bankruptcy court approval for its reorganization plan and acquisition by RL Investor Holdings, an entity backed by Fortress Investment Group, along with co-investors TCW Private Credit and Blue Torch.
A New Chapter for Red Lobster
The Orlando, Florida-based chain announced that the sale is expected to close by the end of the month, marking a near exit from bankruptcy. Despite a slimmer brick-and-mortar presence, Red Lobster will maintain 544 locations across 44 U.S. states and four Canadian provinces. This is a reduction from the approximately 650 restaurants it operated last year.
Industry-Wide Challenges
Red Lobster’s restructuring is part of a broader trend of restaurant chains filing for Chapter 11 and closing locations this year. Notable names like Rubio’s, Buca di Beppo, World of Beer, Roti, and Tijuana Flats have faced similar challenges. BurgerFi, which operates its namesake chain and Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza & Wings, has also warned of potential bankruptcy.
The financial difficulties stem from lingering impacts of COVID-19 pandemic closures, reduced consumer discretionary spending, and rising operational costs. Red Lobster, in particular, struggled with its all-you-can-eat “endless shrimp” promotion, which turned out to be a financial misstep.
Leadership Changes and Future Plans
As part of the acquisition, Damola Adamolekun, former CEO of P.F. Chang’s, will take over as CEO of Red Lobster. Jonathan Tibus, who has led the company through its reorganization, will step down. Adamolekun expressed optimism about the future, highlighting a comprehensive investment plan that includes over $60 million in new funding to revitalize the brand.
A Bright Future Ahead
Red Lobster’s new backers are committed to investment and growth. Tibus thanked the chain’s landlords and vendors for their support during the restructuring process. Despite the challenges, Red Lobster continues to position itself as “the world’s largest and most-loved seafood restaurant company”.
Join the conversation and share your thoughts on Red Lobster’s journey. What do you think about their new direction? How do you feel about the changes in the restaurant industry? Let’s discuss and learn together!
Feel free to share this post to engage more readers and spark a lively discussion on the future of Red Lobster and the restaurant industry as a whole.

Bucket List Travel -#2 Toronto, Canada
This is Bucket List Travel, a special series within the podcast Dr. Mary Travelbest Guide.
This is Carolyn Ray, CEO and editor of JourneyWoman, a women's solo travel publication based in Toronto. I'm going to share some tips and advice about my hometown with you. I'm actually a sixth-generation Torontonian, and my daughter is a seventh-generation Torontonian.
So this is my hometown, and I can tell you, if you're looking for an exciting, vibrant city, Toronto is it. We are, you might be surprised, the fourth largest city in North America, and very easy to get to from just about anywhere in the world. Toronto is a great getaway for those living in Canada and a steal for women coming from other countries because of our Canadian dollar. So you'll find a lot of value coming here for your money,
I want to share with you a bit about how to get to Toronto, which may surprise you. Of course, you may know about Toronto Pearson Airport, our international airport, but we also have a smaller island airport called the Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport, which is right downtown. So if you can get a flight into Toronto Island, that's much easier.
But if you are flying into Toronto, Pearson, we have a wonderful train called the UP Express, which will get you downtown in about 25 minutes. If you are arriving at Union Station, you can get right on our subway system, the TTC, the Toronto Transit Commission. And it's very, very easy to get around on the TTC. It's a U-shaped route that goes north, just kind of starts at Union Station, and goes up both ways. And then there's an east, west route across the city at Bloor Street, which is B, L, O, O, R, we're building some more subways. You'll notice that when you're in town, and because of that, I just want to speak to a little bit about safety on the subways. Toronto is a very large city, and I just want to encourage you to be very aware. I know everyone thinks Canadians are very nice, but I also just want to remind you to be very self-aware when you're on the subways and on public transit.
For things to do in Toronto, my number one experience would be to go to Toronto Island. It's very easy to get there on a ferry, and you can take a ferry over for the day. You can ride a bike, enjoy the beaches, or even get on a boat.
If you are looking for a place to stay, there are many different kinds of hotels in Toronto, but I will say one of my favorites is the Fairmont Royal York, which is right across from Union Station. But I also like some of our boutique hotels, the Gladstone, the Drake, the Broadview Hotel. These are very lovely, locally owned hotels, creative, artsy, with really great rooftop restaurants and great views.
I'll end with some tips on places to eat that you may not know about. I really love Spanish food, so I wanted to recommend Madrina y tapas and Patria. Patria is on King West, which is a very popular place to go for bars and restaurants. The Distillery District is one of our historic areas in Toronto, it’s a wonderful place to walk around and spend the day. And Madrina y tapas is one of my favorite restaurants there. There's also Yorkville, which is on at Bloor and Yonge Street. Kasa Moto is a Japanese restaurant that I would suggest there. And a secret you may not have heard of, this one is called Scaramouche, and it's a little bit farther north, but you can get wonderful views of the entire city. It's actually in a condominium, and you can see all of Toronto at night. It's lovely. And for those of us who like vegetarian food, it's Planta. There are two Planta locations in Toronto, maybe more now, great vegetarian menu. And of course, I must mention the St Lawrence Market, which has all, you know, all of the fresh food you could ever want. But also in the basement Manotas, which is a Spanish takeaway restaurant, and then also Busters, which is at the back of the St Lawrence Market, where you can get some wonderful seafood.
Whatever you're doing in Toronto, I hope you have a great time. There's so much to do. There's so much to see, and I look forward to seeing you there. And if there's more information need about Toronto, please visit JourneyWoman.com. We've got lots of articles about the city.
