Headcannon that freelancer is an insomniac but it’s been getting better thanks to Caelum and Gavin’s help; and that’s because before they all lived together freelancer used to just pop into bed and pray to fall asleep and then get up and do other stuff if that didn’t work (seen in the Caelum sleep audio). But now they have a 25 step night time sleep routine that Gavin and Caelum have helped them develop for their health that involved yoga and sleepy time tea and classics music.

I love how Milo fans can just tell when Milo’s in rotation on the channel. Like, David fans can only hope, Sam and Asher fans can never tell when their boys are coming, Vincent fans just wait, Geordi fans will NEVER be able to tell.

I'm very bad at making species sheets, but I decided to try the bare minimum for this one. My favourite is misery :3. HI HELLO I'M HERE FOR THE ANIMALISTIC FEATURES ON D(A)EMONS TED TALK

I’ve been waiting for you. *sits and turns in my swivel chair evilly with my hands pressed together at their finger tips.*

Fear demons are very Creepy Crawlie based! That being said nearly all of them have amphibious/reptilian traits! Though they don’t have blood they do appear to at least feel cold blooded and do enjoy similar activities that reptilians might like sunbathing or anything equivalent!

Fear demons have Very thick and long tails, some have tails that end in fins or have extra fins on the side but that differs from demon to demon. Most fear demons have black sclera or entirely black eyes that are Very sensitive to light leaving them to only coming out at night which is both great for feeding but sucks because they get limited sunlight unless wearing sunglasses :[

Fear daemons tend to be cooler/dry colors! They’re not exactly pastels, think more calm and soothed colors that blend in w their surroundings.

For Example (of a standard fear demon): The Caller Boi is a light grey, fully scaled demon with a long tail that’s finned at the end and has smaller fins on the side! His tongue is fully that of a lizard (he can grab food with it!) and is forked, he also has heat pits underneath where his nose would be! His hands and feet are clawed and his hair is long, black, and oddly limp. His hair is incredibly long and always vaguely sopping wet looking, it also kind of looks like deep dark Kelp.

Most fear demons have longer hair/hair that very much seems uncared for, either too oily, or too dry, or too wet. Very much unnatural/uncomfy looking. Their eyes are usually obscured by their hair to keep them safe and few fear demons feel a need to show their eyes since the whole “Tall, oddly colored, long limbed creature in your room watching you” thing is enough to get a reaction and feed as is.

Most fear demons Do Not wear clothes. They don’t actually have any genitalia or defining features sexual and the effort to make clothes at both fit their proportions, feel comfortable against scales or oddly smooth/silky/slimey skin, and have tail holes is too much for any of them to Want to do unless they genuinely find it fun. So if you see one of these guys in public, don’t stare. They’re just doing their thing. Also they will notice you and will end up following you home :] (fun new buddy who definitely loves you)

Fear demons tend to either have flopped/lop ears or no ears at all! Their ears can still be perked to look for prey to pay extra attention to things if needed but are most comfortable flopping down and staying there. The chances of you touching a fear demons ears are slim to none since you will almost assuredly lose your hand afterward.

Empathy daemons very much got the best end of the deal as most of them are Chimeric in nature and therefore have a variety of mismatched animal traits! Where as other demons have traits that come directly from on family/class of animal, Empathy demons can and will have Any. (Though seeing mammalian traits is very common) This can go from mismatched fur and skin patterns to even each of their limbs. Being the most animalistic trait inheriting variety of demon, it’s incredibly helpful that Empathy demons aren’t able to be seen by their charges for a certain amount of time as this typically allows them time to be able to disguise their forms into something vaguely more human. Caelum is still struggling with this, thus his odd eyes and two sets of animal ears.

Though since that’s been repealed in canon (since it was causing empathy demons to have weird attachments to their charges due to being unseen) more people will probably be having what they assume to be visits from “angels” (more on that below)

Empathy demons are often mistaken for angels are where the idea of angels comes from somewhat! Truthfully the Sovereigns are what the concept of angels comes from but after their disappearance and the much more common appearance of Empathy demons to those in need, empathy demons became the standard as well as the saying “Do not be afraid” because seeing a creature that’s part every animal is Very Scary.

Empathy demons are all born Incredibly short but grow to be one of the tallest kinds of demons! For example: Caelum was the shortest in his batch/litter of empathy demons but this means that he’ll grow to be the tallest and above average size for an Empathy demon! Which will be very inconvenient when he tries to visit freelancer and is now a good 8 feet tall (please be nice to him he hates being too tall to be held it makes him sad)(also Caelum is right handed by choice but all demons are ambidextrous…I couldn’t find anywhere else to fit this hc in so shush)

Empathy demons are born in litters/batches! Batches are used to refer to litters that have been born (typically 1 to 2 at a time otherwise the word litter will just be used interchangeably if it’s less than 2) while Litter is used by the demons in said batch to refer to themselves and their siblings that were born.

For example: “A couple new batches of empathy demons were born, they will NOT stop crying about someone taking their toys.”

“Oh me and my litter used to do that, have you tried just labelling the toys with their names?”

Empathy demons can be born with duplicate limbs! So there’s like a non-zero plausibility of there being an empathy demon named Tails who does In Fact have two fox tails. He would not find this funny. (But he would love tails and name himself Miles after him)

This can span from multiple arms on their torso to multiple tails, wings, ears, or even horns! Caelum has been known to have two tails on occasion but primarily is known for his two sets of ears! One resembling a bear or lion cub and the other resembling a lamb.

Concubi (incubi and succubi) have the Least animal traits as it would generally be hard for them to shift and disguise if they had the amount of traits other demons had. This leaves them feelings rather put-out by other demon groups and it’s very common for Concubi to be jealous or upset because of their lack of traits. Sure it’s great for catching food and all but it feels like a denial of their demonic attributes honestly. Being mistaken as human by other demons and humans themselves is a common and very down putting experience for concubi, while some embrace it and the ease it gives them to catch food, many reject this idea and will try and make their animal/demon traits more apparent.

It’s very common for concubi to have ur standard demon tail and a thing layer of fuzzy/fine fur as well as clawed hands and sometimes feet! It’s more uncommon to have cat eyes and slit pupils. Almost all concubi have long elf like ears and if they don’t then that’s very rare! The outcome of that is either having human ears (extremely rare) or some form of animal ears (even more rare) Obviously it’s much more favored by the general concubi population to have animal based ears and those that don’t have normal ears or animal ears will disguise their ears to be normal and elf like but demons can always tell when one another are using magic to hide themselves, so this trick only works on non-demons or humans

Gavin has a fair mix of uncommon and common traits for incubi! He has fairly long animal like ears (similar to a sheep/goat or rabbit), hooves, and claws! But for the most part it's not incredibly hard for him to shift and pass as human which is a mixed bag as far as he's concerned with how it makes him feel. He definitely has More traits than the average concubus but the ones he has are incredibly concubi specific, meaning they're as minor as genetically possible for him to pass as human when shifting. Think of it like being double jointed. Is it uncommon and kind of weird? yes. Is it something noticable that's going to come up every day unless you show it off? No. It's a minor oddball trait at best which sets him in this weird spot of either being idolized by some concubi for his traits, demonized by others for his lack of conformity with human standards, or being denied his demon-status due to the simplicity of his traits. It's a very hard topic for him.

At the least he's lucky that there are Very few sadism demons left out in the world, it would give him an even bigger complex of problems. (Sadism demons are basically what would happen if you took Concubi genes and pumped them with steroids. EVERYTHING about their genetics is more obvious. While Gavin has retractable claws, a sadism demon might have claws that never retract. Cats eyes that properly dilate in every light, more markings as well as markings that are more blantantly obvious. Fangs and tusks that protude from the mouth and glint in the light, whiskers and antennae that properly feel and catch every change in movement. Compared to a sadism demon, an incubus is just a chubby house cat playing an unconvincing game of pretend to a big cat. Really, if you asked Vega he would say their lives are spent playing a charade of pretend, a mockery of what a real demon is. they're practically human.)

How the Redactedverse Boys Would React to a Listener with Tics/Tourettes

Notes: *New Hyperfixation Unlocked* Hello and happy Tourettes Awareness Month. As someone with tics myself, I felt it important to me to write something for this month. I know it’s late as hell, but life is busy so—anyways, I only did the characters I know so far because ya girl’s computer cannot handle any more tabs lol. Anyways enjoy this and happy Tourettes Awareness Month!!!

David:

Oh my god the careful affection this man would give you, I can’t even—

I just know when you’re ticcing or having a tic attack he’ll place a hand on your back and slowly ruh it or draw patterns into it to help calm you down or to take the stress off of you.

After a long and stressful day, when your tics are acting up I’m betting money that he would wrap you up in his arms, press you against his chest and hold you on the couch. No words, complete silence except for yours’ and his’ heartbeats and breaths. 

On bad days when your legs would give out, he would have you lean against him, pressing gentle kisses into your hair.

When you have tics attacks and you felt like it was okay to have physical affection, he would take you by the hand and rub the back of your hand with a gentle thumb. He’d also hold you from the back in his arms, pressed against his chest, listening to his breathing and his heart.

If you didn’t feel like physical contact, he’d sit there and slowly talk about his day in a low, relaxing voice. 

He’d sit beside you until you felt better and then would press you into him, into a hug.

You two would inevitably end up in your shared bed, holding each other, gently pressed up against one another, peacefully sleeping.

Asher:

Ugh this sweetheart of a werewolf sickens me with joy

He’s probably come in shouting “Baaaaabbbbbeeee” like he usually does when he sees you having a bad tic day and springs into action.

While he doesn’t fully understand it and how it works, he knows you can’t control it and it brings you discomfort. 

He does everything in his power to make you feel better. Weighted blanket? Was on the couch and now it’s wrapped around you. A warm drink? Tea, coffee or hot cocoa, oh never mind he’ll make all three. A hug? He’s your guy. Cuddles? Well don’t mind if he does, he’ll cuddle you to oblivion.

And while he doesn’t fully understand, he does his best to listen to you and keep note of how it affects you because you matter to him and your needs matter to him.

He also supplements you with enough hugs and kisses to smother someone with affection (only when you feel like physical contact) because it’s his love language

If you have a comfort food, he’d do its best to make it. Or on bad tic days he’d surprise you with your favorite takeout.

Milo:

Ugh he’s so caring he would be so perfect jakdnwodnsk

When you tell him that you have tics/Tourette’s, I guarantee you that this man does not give a damn. 

He’d treat you the same because in his eyes, it doesn’t make you any different or any lesser.

Usually, work stressed you out, meaning your tics are worse. He would notice this and would treat that with about two dozen kisses and a movie night with about 10 or so fluffy blankets.

He would be so careful, but he wouldn’t treat like glass that could crack at any second, but like a treasured sentiment.

After Inversion, even though he was struggling heavily, he saw you struggling too. You, with your anxiety through the roof and constant tic attacks. He’d make sure to leave comfort foods or comfy blankets within reach when you came home from work on when he noticed you were having a bad tic day.

And if you pushed him away, or tried to hide how you were struggling, he’d sit you down and talk with you about it, highlighting his concern and how much he cares.

Sam:

The Southern vampire? Oh boy my favorite. The way he would CARE

Meeting you was one of the best parts of his life, well, technically not life, vampire life? It didn’t matter to him much when you told him you had Tourette’s. 

He didn’t know much about it at first but he looked up what it was all about and studied symptoms and signs, asking informative questions and joining support groups online for it.

He’d make sure that if you took medication, that you took it like clockwork whenever you needed to take it. He’d also check when you were running low and call the pharmacy ahead of time to make sure you had refills and order one.

During full moons, and during the summer solstice, your tics would be bad. Constant tic attacks and an inability to hold a single conversation without ticcing and it would leave you practically on the edge of sobs.

Sam? He’d spring into action. He’d comfort you with hugs and warm words that left your heart racing and in a pleasantly cozy feeling. He’d make you warm tea exactly how he knew you liked it and would sit beside you and read. He knew you liked the sound of his voice and how it comforted you even on the worst days.

And that would end up with the pair of you asleep wherever he was reading whether it be on the couch or on the bed, you’d find yourself in a tangle of limbs in the morning, having slept ever so comfortably in his arms.

Vincent:

Oh the way this vampire would treat you RIGHT

The second that you told him, fearing the worst reaction? He wouldn’t care besides asking if you were okay.

He cares for you so deeply, I don’t think that it would matter to him at all. 

He would, however, make sure that he knew all that he could on Tourette’s and tic related disorders to know how to properly help you while also listening to you and keeping track of how you react.

He wants to be able to prioritize you, and your comfort.

Before Inversion, you’d get back tics whenever you used your power and after, as a kind of aftershock effect. He would always make you your favorite food and sit beside you, with you cuddled up against his chest, arms wrapped around him and he held you under the blanket while the two of you would rewatch a favorite movie between the two of you. (It’s Up. The movie is Up.)

Your tics would also make your power flare up more than once and it always worried you about if you would hurt Vincent, staying away from him during that time as a precaution.

But him? He’d tell you that he’s a vampire, a strong one at that, and that he heals fast. That he would take about a thousand shocks from you just to be able to help you.

After Inversion, your tics would be worse as the transition to vampire practically drove you up the wall.

He’d sit by you, comfort in his tone, patience lining his face. He’d pull you into a hug and rub your back as you spewed apologies while he told you that it wasn’t your fault and that he was happy to help.

He’d promise you that he’d stay, pressing kisses into your hair and holding you ever so gently, swearing that he’d be by your side to help you, both through the transition to vampire, and through all other endeavors, including your tics.

Gavin:

This tsundere demon I can’t, he’d care so deeply—

When he learned that you have Tourette’s, he would try to recall the knowledge he had on it, as he’s lived so long.

He listens to how it is for you, how it affects you and takes note of it. He wants to be able to help you however he can.

He knows that you can’t control it, and he treats it as such. He doesn’t mock it, nor does he make comments. He might ask if you’re alright once but he knows not to push and learns how to properly help you.

And to anyone who is disrespectful, rude or disregards your disability and scorns you for it, he’ll defend you. In his core he wants to rip them to shreds. But he also knows you wouldn’t want that, opting to verbally destroy them and defend you instead.

On bad days, he’ll sit beside you, arm wrapped around you protectively, gently rubbing up and down your arm in a comforting manner.

Other times when it’s bad and you ask for a distraction he’ll describe to you Aria. He’ll describe it in such a way, with a warm, low voice to put you in a sort of relaxed manner, calming you down if only slightly and lessening your tics.

Lasko:

Ugh I love this anxiety ridden wind boy

The way this man would have a file in his office dedicated to you and how your tics are and how they affect you day-to-day. 

He would take notes!!!

He’d remember your coping mechanisms and strategies, opting for them in stressful situations.

And this man does HIS RESEARCH!!! He’s definitely studied Tourette’s and other assorted tics disorders in an effort to better understand you because he cares so damn deeply for you. 

We love a man who will research for you

On bad days, he’ll set you up on the couch with a blanket, asking if there’s anything you need. If you just need a hug or a shoulder to lie on, that works too.

Lasko would be so understanding of a Listener with tics or Tourette’s syndrome, trust. 

He definitely drinks his respect those with disabilities juice.

Damien:

Ugh fire boy and tics get on like a house on fire and he’d be so helpful 💗

Like understand something, ticcing makes your joints stiff as hell, and ache. It’s constant, it’s a pain.

But fire powers would help immensely. I think Damien would know that enough to understand and help the Listener.

He didn’t exactly even know what Tourette’s syndrome was at first before you explained it.

Once you did, he nodded along, said he wasn’t bothered because “whoever is, they’re just an asshole” and proceeded to do a wee bit of research on it.

He would ask you if you were alright when you were ticcing, but he wouldn’t push it.

He just treats you like a person, which is how he treats most people (*cough cough excluding someone in particular cough cough*)

And for tic attacks, he just sits beside you. He asks what he can do and does what he can. If there’s nothing he can do to help, he’ll just sit beside you and rant a little bit, to take your mind off things, to help a little.

Also fire powers are good for sore and stiff joints so when your muscles stiffen up and get stuck he can help with that :)

Huxley: 

OGH PLANT BOY THE SWEETIE 🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻

I guarantee this sweetheart of a himbo won’t understand a thing about it but will attempt to because he cares about you and wants to understand you.

After telling him, he’d be confused but reiterate what you told him and nod along, processing the information.

And to say he wouldn’t defend you is a crime. He’d defend you from all of the people who mocked you or gave your snarky remarks or dirty stares and insults. I know he just wouldn’t allow ableism no siree.

Huxley also normalizes it. He doesn’t make it this sort of huge thing and makes it the center stage. 

He’s also like so concerned and caring when it comes to ticcing and tic attacks and bad tic days. 

You cannot tell me this man does not go out and comfort you by grabbing your favorite ice cream and wrapping you up in a blanket burrito.

And I know damn well when you’re ticcing and having a bad tic day, to cheer you up he’d just, grow a fucking plant in the middle of where a plant literally isn’t supposed to be growing. And for some reason it’s funny.

And he’d ask as many people that he knew about tics and Tourette’s because hems a good friend and wants to be able to help you to the best of his ability.

OGH THIS DEMON WOULD BE PERFECT

Oh he’d be so gentle and considerate towards you. 

Of course, he’d feel how you were feeling in a way, but he wouldn’t entirely understand because it’s only something you have, not him. Since he doesn’t have it, he doesn’t understand as well.

But he tries so hard to do so, even when you two are in what is essentially biblical hell, he asks as many questions as he can about it without making you uncomfortable. 

And when you came back without your memories, he made sure to be careful about it and asked again, thr same questions, but more questions, if not to understand you, but to understand what you’re going through.

And when you two got out, he’d be so gentle and supportive, standing up for you as you two built a life together. 

He would support you through it all, keeping you close to him but knowing when to give you space, yet so afraid to lose you again.

I just know he’d run his hands through your hair on a bad tic day to relieve stress and calm you down.

Hugs galore oh this demon man loves affection from you.

Caelum:

OH THE EMPATHY DEMON CUTIE UGH I LOVE HIM SM

I just know the second that Caelum found out that his charge has any type of tic disorder he’s be studying it on the double.

He cares so much for his charges he’s  defending and protecting so he’d be so very well versed in all of their coping mechanisms and all of the signs.

He would know how to talk you down from an anxiety induced tic attack and would know exactly how to care for you on bad tic days.

He would give you as much or as little physical affection as you wanted at the time, making sure not to overstep.

And he’d be so in tune with your emotions, even though he will never truly understand the feeling of having a tic disorder, he’s trying, and that’s what counts.

Oh and he’d bake you comfort pastries because OUR BOY HAS A BAKING LOVE LANGUAGE AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
