IOTS: EVERYONE DIES AU - COUGHING CODY (TW DEATH, SUFFOCATION?)

Coughing Cody (I got the idea from this IOTS reversed au, check them out!): Cody was afraid. Afraid of the island, afraid of death, afraid of a serial killer, afraid of losing his sanity all alone. The only ones left were him, Gwen, Eva and Katie. He stuck to them like spitballs in a school outcast's hair. He never let himself get separated from the group. He still felt the lingering claws of guilt for letting so many people die. He knew he wasn't at fault, heck, he was only 16, but he still felt responsible.

But you can't stick together forever. Not unless you're Owen or Geoff. So eventually, Cody got lost. Very lost.

Someone yanked his hair from behind.

His brain almost forgot he was inhabiting a human body when he was thrown into the shed. His bones vibrated under his skin. Panic started up his throat.

The room starts to smell strangely. At first, it's manageable. But then it stings, and his lungs begin to fill with something toxic and awful. He coughs. It's leathery and thick. It doesn't get any better. His throat stabs, his chest begins to heave, and his breathing gets more and more shallow until he literally can't think anymore, he just needs air. Please, please, can he breathe?

Cody's body is never found, but the others can guess what happened based off the awful smell coming from the locked shed.

my advice for dealing with misophonia is ask for accomodation from people you trust and earplugs or noise canceling headphones (or earbuds with white noise) if a situation allows. there are brands of earplugs like loop and calmer i believe that have different levels of noise muffling and i have heard good things from other people with misophonia but haven't tried myself. and there is also cotton like arahir said. earplugs and cotton can take away the "sharpness" of a lot of triggers

and there's always the tried and true method of just getting the hell outa there

idk how ro phrase this part but sometimes something new will start to trigger me and when i notice it i will simply tell myself it doesn't actually bother me. like just listen to it while forcing myself to remain calm, think about the sound, like why it happens, understand it, and just let it wash over me. it doesn't make the trigger go away completely but it does make the trigger less severe. just kind of brute forcing my way into sanity (this probably makes me sound insane and i probably didn'texplain it very well)

i'm sure none of this sounds quite revolutionary but i hope that it might help you a bit

thank you!! honestly I can't ask for accommodation especially from the worst offenders because they're very suggestive and will instead develop their own case and getting the hell outta here is also not the easiest thing to do. I've tried the very last bit too and for some reason it works me into such a flying rage instead. even right now I just heard the loudest burp from 10 feet away and I want to throw my laptop and then myself out the window I think I just need heavy sedation LMFAO I will try the cotton/ear plugs though I think thats a good idea! I see both those brands have sales on...thinkingemoji.jpg
